For a $17 plate, telling someone to take their change out of the tip jar themselves, unpreparedness and lack of food actually available from the menu, and a consistently intimidating attitude is not something you'd expect--or want--to have at your event. You are a customer-facing business. Running out of menu items happens, and mistakes happen. What isn't acceptable is treating customers with open hostility. Every interaction felt tense, demanding, and unnecessarily confrontational. The person working the window spoke to us in a condescending manner and gave us an angry, annoyed look throughout what should have been a simple transaction. We left feeling like we were a burden just for placing an order. Good food can make up for a lot, but it doesn't make up for an experience that leaves customers feeling unwelcome. We won't be returning--and will matching their energy by encouraging those around us to plan elsewhere for food options. Do better. Be better.

5/5 Stars - The absolute best Persian food in the Bay Area!…read moreEver since Razi Restaurant first opened its doors, my family and I have been regulars--eating here without fail 3 to 4 times a month. We've sampled virtually everything on the menu, and every single dish is consistently outstanding. So, when it came time to host my birthday party, choosing Razi for catering was an absolute no-brainer. We ordered the Baghali Polo with Mahiche (lamb shank), Joojeh Kabob, Kabob Koobideh, Kookoo Sabzi, and Kashk-e Bademjan. The food arrived right on time, piping hot, and perfectly packed. Every guest--both Iranian and American--was blown away by the meal. People couldn't stop raving about how authentic and delicious everything was and immediately asked for the restaurant's name! The food at Razi genuinely tastes like warm, home-cooked meals straight from a loving Iranian mother's kitchen. Exceptional quality, top-tier freshness, and deep flavors are what set them apart. A special thank you to Mehdi and Soheila for making my birthday so memorable with your incredible food. Wishing you endless success and happiness!

We placed our order about a week in advance, and Mehdi took the time to truly understand our vision. He asked thoughtful questions about our guest count, the mix of cultures attending, how much food we wanted left over, and exactly what kind of experience we wanted our guests to have. It never felt like a transaction--it felt like someone genuinely invested in making our celebration special. The pricing was fair, transparent, and right on point. On the day of the wedding, everything arrived exactly on time, allowing us to focus on celebrating instead of stressing. Now, let's talk about the food. As a Persian who's grown up eating Persian food, attended countless family gatherings, and dined at more Persian restaurants than I can count, I can honestly say--with complete sincerity--that Razi served the best koobideh I have ever had. It was unbelievably tender, juicy, light, and perfectly seasoned. Several of the Persian guests at our wedding came up to me throughout the night saying the exact same thing. The ghormeh sabzi was rich and comforting, the salad was fresh and vibrant, and every dish seemed to disappear as quickly as it was set down. Even our American guests, many of whom were trying Persian food for the first time, couldn't stop raving about it. At a wedding, food matters. Your guests are drinking, dancing, laughing, and celebrating for hours--you want them to leave with full hearts and full stomachs. Razi Foods delivered exactly that. They didn't just cater our wedding; they became part of what made it unforgettable. Five stars isn't enough.

After Sistory Thai in Albany closed, I was genuinely disappointed because I couldn't find anything…read morethat came close. I gave Imm Thai another try, tried Thai Table, and even Glom Thai (which replaced Sistory), but none of them had the same quality or flavors I had been missing. I also loved Banana Leaf in El Cerrito before it closed, so I figured those days were over. Then I found out the owners of Sistory had opened Saneh Bangkok in Pleasant Hill, so we decided to celebrate my aunt's birthday there. Wow, it exceeded all of our expectations. Every single dish was outstanding, and honestly, even better than I remembered from Sistory. We ordered the Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Red Curry, Spring Rolls, and the fried chicken with roti and Massaman curry. Everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh, and packed with flavor. The noodles had that authentic wok flavor I'd been searching for, the curry was rich and delicious, and the roti with Massaman curry was absolutely incredible. The portions were generous, the service was warm and attentive, and the whole experience reminded me why I loved Sistory so much in the first place. We were so full that we didn't have room for dessert, but next time I am definitely getting the mango sticky rice! As if that wasn't enough, I also learned the owners are behind Thai Lao Pakaoma in El Cerrito, which took over the old Banana Leaf location--and it's only five minutes from my house! Now I'm even more excited to try that one too. If you were a fan of Sistory or Banana Leaf, do yourself a favor and check out Saneh Bangkok. It brought back everything I'd been missing, and I can't wait to go back.

Pad Makheur + Crab Rangoon -- 7/10 The chicken in the Pad Makheur was a little too salty for my taste. The Crab Rangoon was okay, but nothing that really stood out. Pad Ga Pow + Goong Grabog -- 8/10 The green beans seemed a little undercooked, but the dish wasn't overly salty. The shrimp roll was really good! Saam Chun Tod Nam Pla -- 10/10 The star of the show! The pork belly was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and easily our favorite of everything we ordered. Overall, we had a good experience and will probably come back to try more items from their specialty menu. There are definitely a few more dishes calling our name!

I did not feel I was treated with any kindness, concern or care. He didn't seem to have the time to clean the table where I wanted to sit (and keep in mind there were no more than 8 people total dining in the restaurant) so I just took the table he offered which was right in front of the restroom. I then proceeded to help myself to the buffet, which had a lot of choices. On the left is salad items and very watered down chutneys, in the middle vegetable dishes, and on the right meat dishes (mostly chicken). The dishes on the back side of the buffet against the wall had foil on them and it wasn't until I went for a second plate and some of the foil had been taken off that I realized I missed half the food! All the fried foods for that matter! One thing they definitely have going for them is selection. I had no water so I had to ask for that, and the waiter just acted like he knew, but if he knew he should have brought it when I first sat down. Then I had to ask for naan, and again he just seemed to know he was late in getting it to me, and I had to wait. No apologies. I finished my first plate of food before the naan ever came, and it wasn't very good naan anyway, so no big loss there. The food was all incredibly too salty for my taste, and very average quality. As I was paying and leaving there was a couple that came in and they wanted to sit at the same table where I had initially wanted to sit, and the table was still dirty. Overall this experience was no better than the former Saroor, not bad but not good either.
