We ordered sandwiches for pickup last week when we were going to visit friends who live in Walnut Creek. The sandwiches were huge and delicious. I had the chicken pesto and my husband had the pastrami and Swiss. We brought our friends, a tuna melt and a Thai chicken salad at their request. They also like their lunch. The staff was very friendly and had our food ready right on time. It would be a nice place to go to again and sit outside under the umbrellas that they have set up. read more

At high noon, the shaking tree leaves seem to sing in unison off Mt Diablo Valley Blvd. On the adjacent to BevMo off Mt Diablo Blvd, you will run into a rare parking lot with space ($2/hour metered parking) and this little cozy place. It's quiet and an excellent place to sit outdoors and eat a sandwich and relax for 30-45 minutes on your lunch break. I had the Turkey Avocado Turkey Pannini. The toasted bread is almost like a large cross-cut fry and this tasted decent. Not a ton of flavor but did the job. With a Pelligrino, it will cost you $20. Oasis is decent Greek food. This restaurant is "fast casual" style. My goto order is the Gyro Sandwich. The portions are okay, and the food is okay, and the prices are a smidge high (but it is Lafayette). The service is decent. Nothing to write home about, but this place gets the job done if you are driving down 24 and are in the mood for a Gyro. read more

Hidden behind a couple buildings, Oasis Cafe is a delightful little cafe serving Mediterranean with fairly decent prices for the area. Bowls, gyros, and the greek platter top the list on what looks the most appetizing. It's quite a small place with a few tables indoors and outside. It's a much more casual environment, and the employee here was pretty nice and friendly. It doesn't seem to get too crowded here which is pretty nice especially for the lunch hour. I ordered the chicken Shawarma bowl (~$9), and my coworkers tried out the lamb gyro and the greek platter. The bowl came with some pita, lots of good looking veggies, and of course some pretty good chicken. The bowl was pretty filling, and had plenty of variety to keep me interested. We were in Lafayette for a bike ride (Lafayette-Moraga trail--check it out) and wanted something casual but good to eat. Oasis had one of the best ratings in the area, so we decided to give it a try. Got the Greek plate (gyro meat, falafel, hummus, pita bread, and cucumber-tomato salad) which was really satisfying. Only odd thing was that the falafel weren't what we had ever seen before (they looked like smooshed falafel balls). For under $10, we felt like this was a great deal. Although i'm fairly new to gyros, having only had one on one other occasion, I stopped by to this little tucked away cafe in hope of filling up my stomach after a pretty unsatisfactory lunch. I walked in and since i had came intending to purchase a gyro, I had one of 4-5 options, including the oasis platter (gyro meat, pita, greek salad, etc), the gyro platter (same as the former but with hummus rather than the salad), the gyro sandwich, and one option that escapes me at the moment. I was with my mom and decided on grabbing the gyro platter which i was worried would be too small to share. To my surprise, not only was there a huge helping of well seasoned gyro meat, hummus, Tzatziki sauce, and pico de gallo, but the pita was served in small triangles perfect for sharing! The owner, Ron, even supplied us with a gracious amount of extra pita bread. Ron was very hospitable and talked to us for the duration of our stay, and he really puts an emphasis on everything being fresh and ensuring the customer is satisfied, asking for any criticisms and guaranteeing an improvement on any faults the next visit. Overall, while the cafe is small and tucked away, it has a clean atmosphere and seems welcoming once you step through the doors. For 8.99, the gyro platter was more than reasonably priced and my mom and I plan on being regulars. read more

There was one occupied table among the 4 available. It's a fairly small place, but decorated nicely and clean. I had the chicken schwarma bowl which is more like a plate, but I got mine to go. It came with lots of chicken already made (a bit disappointed), tomato and cucumber salad, lettuce, tomatoes, and bread. The chicken is a bit spicy, but not overly so. The salad was my favorite part. Went great with the chicken and bread. There was Thai tea and jasmine tea in different pitchers just sitting on the counter. I'd prob stay away from those. Other than that great flavors! Hey Oasis, why were you hiding in the back of the parking lot with your tasty Mediterranean food? Seriously, I have probably been near this place 50 times and never thought to try it. You might not even see it from Mt. Diablo Blvd. and it kinda sits in the shadows (literally and figuratively) behind some of the more popular lunch spots in Lafayette. It's directly behind the AT&T store on your way to BART. Now that I've found you Oasis, I can say I will definitely be a regular. My friend and I like to spread our patronage to the smaller mom & pop local businesses and search on a regular basis for the most comfort, best service and lastly, yes lastly, the coffee drinks and food. Though my friend, the New Yorker, raved about the not-so-NY pastrami on rye, the offerings matter less when the ambience & service is there. Unlike many others, this quaint and welcoming cafe is tucked away off the main drag giving you a sense of being on a mini vacation. A rating on their "Famous Gyro". We are trying to find one that is like Yanni's in Danville (recently closed). Yanni's had a soft fresh pita, mounds of warm meaty lamb/beef, smooth tatziki, slices of white onion and tomato. Oasis had a chewy pita, seemed stale, cold gritty lamb/beef, minty tatziki, slices of red onion and tomato, chunks of slightly pickled cucumber, parsley, a spicy red sauce. This place is absolutely delicious. We ordered the Greek Plate, and gyros pitas, and everything was so good. I am not a fan of falafel so I don't know how to rate that, but it was better with the yogurt sauce and chili sauce. Oasis Cafe is a bit hidden from the main street of Lafayette, which is probably why I sadly haven't been here before. I ordered the lamb gyro and the meat was so flavorful and tender yet not overwhelming. I added hot sauce to my gyro and it added the perfect amount of spice.
