Such a lovely cafe with delicious drinks, tasty food, and fantastic service! I hung out here with two friends on a Sunday around noon. We were able to sit in a cozy area near the front windows. You order at the counter, take a seat, then they bring out your drinks and food to you. I enjoyed the following: Persian tea, pistachio iced latte, guava croissant, mortadella sandwich on focaccia. All were excellent! I look forward to trying other menu items in the future. There is garage parking if you're not able to find street parking. It's also right next to Bart! read more

Shemroon has excellent coffee and pastries. We come here mainly for breakfast and with out of town guests. The coffee is by far the best in Orinda (finally a good coffee in Orinda!!!) and the pastries have pleased our European guests - they even said it was the best croissant they've ever had in their life which I am thinking is quite the achievement! Love this place! read more

Great cafe located inside the Orinda plaza. My boyfriend and I ordered some pastries and a chai latte at the counter and took a seat outside on the patio. We were brought our pastries, which included a slice of almond cake, lemon pastry, focaccia and another piece of bread. Everything was so delicious and flavorful! You can tell the quality of the handcrafted drinks and fresh pastries. The service was great throughout our visit too. I would highly recommend this cafe when in the area and I look forward to going back in the future! read more

I was early for a facial appointment, so I decided to grab some coffee while I waited. I ended up at Shemroom, a little gem tucked right near the Orinda Theater. The decor is warm and inviting, with a cozy vibe that immediately makes you want to stay a while. The staff is incredibly friendly too, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere. I ordered a Vanilla Latte, and it was delicious. Even though it's a simple drink, the quality of the coffee really stood out the flavors were smooth, the sweetness was just right, and the ratio of espresso to milk was perfectly balanced. They also offer sandwiches, pastries, and a Persian breakfast menu. I had already eaten lunch before coming in, so I wasn't hungry, but everything looked tempting. I'd love to come back and try their food next time. Overall, it was such a lovely little spot to relax before my appointment, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a late afternoon decaf on a Saturday. The shop had a peaceful ambiance with tasteful decor and comfortable seating. Besides the Turkish coffee, they offered decaf versions of all their drinks. The family running the shop was pleasant and polite. It's great to have a local shop like this to grab a high quality coffee drink on the go or to hang out. They had run out of their gluten free almond cake by the time we got there, so that'll be something on the list to try for next time. We'll be back! read more

This cafe is a little Persian gem in Orinda's Theater Square. It's impressive that they make all of their own pastries in-house which are excellent. Everything we tried was delicious. Love this new spot! Just went with a friend for the first time, and brought back more friends a few days later! Can sit inside or out and great ambiance with excellent service. Everything is presented and served with care, and absolutely delicious. My current fave is the Persian iced tea. Today I tried the spinach feta pastry and was so fresh and perfectly heated. I will be back soon to try the cakes and breakfast plate. read more

I've gone here twce now while waiting for my barber appointment next door. One time I just had a cream-filled pastry; the second time I had the savory Persian breakfast--small bowls of cucumber, tomato, cheese, walnuts, and mint with pita-like bread to wrap it all in--plus of course a pastry. Coffee both times. The food is very good, the coffee is solid, the staff is nice and helpful as can be. Do check it out. read more

I think we accidentally came on opening weekend because it was PACKED and it seemed to be a lot of family and friends visiting. It was sprinkling and there weren't enough tables inside so we had to sit outside. It started to rain harder and then our toddler spilled her water cup onto her banana bread, and I guess the owner saw this happen and was thoughtful enough to give us a new slice which we very much appreciated. You can tell that this is a very family oriented establishment and it's such an awesome addition the Theater Square! Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their menu items. read more

Best breakfast in Orinda. Shemroon cafe lets you know how a simple menu allows for incredible execution. We ordered the sweet Persian breakfast, cream puff, chocolate croissant, Persian tea, and a latte. It was a simple menu that was executed to perfection. The Persian breakfast came with clotted cream, 2 jams, honey and pita. The jams were so full of fruit flavor without being overly sweet that it makes you want to keep coming back for more. The pita was strong and pliable which was a great vehicle for all the different offerings. The staff is fast and friendly. The cafe itself is the kind of place you come to absorb calm and serenity. Definitely a great place to reconnect or to form new connections. We will be back read more

I really wanted to like the place. And I will give them another try. They seem to cater to those who are there in the theater square already and not those who want a decent cup of coffee to start their day. I guess those would go to Peet's across the street. The Shemroon cafe doesn't not open before 8, so those of us who need to get to work stand no chance. I did try the $5 Americano (it's an espresso shot with water). It was ok. So I will come back to give them a try again and so yet another business doesn't leave a depressing dt Orinda. read more
