Banh mi dac biet was good but personally I prefer a softer bread! Goi cuon tom was good and had plenty of fresh veggies, just like how I like it. Order took about 10 mins and it must be really popular because the whole patio seating was filled and there were other people waiting outside of the patio area! The vibe is cute, it's in a weird plaza where you wouldn't expect a banh mi shop but it works! Plenty of parking!
I'm glad I found Kibi's. It's across the street from the old DMV. There's plenty of parking. The cafe is small inside. I placed my order on their website. It made it easier to get in and out. The ladies at the counter were very nice and welcoming. They have outdoor sitting I opted to take it to go. I had the chicken banh mi and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The bread was crusty and fresh. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. The coffee was slightly bitter and strong. I enjoyed both. Side note the coffee was too good he kept me awake until 2 am.
Wonderful chicken bahnmi and Vietnamese coffee. Limited menu and no indoor seating. Only outdoor. Definitely recommend. Very reasonable prices.
Great food and good service. Family run new establishments that needs our support. I had one (3) piece spring roll and (1) bahn mi sandwich. The spring rolls were freshly made. The sandwich was also fresh, but the chicken lacked flavor. I added some Siracha and Hoisin sauce and it was perfect. The interior is clean and having an open kitchen is encouraging.

Interesting location... Their sign (in white) is fairly prominent but it's on a bunch of glass walls. There's a back outdoor seating (you order upfront and pay via Apple Pay, etc) and they tell you to go out "back". There's no indoor seating. Once you order a banh mi, they instantly put a bun in the toaster. THEIR PRICES INCREASED BY 25 cents! For example, banh mi's used to be $8.25 and now it's $8.50; also ordered the spring roll with shrimp (#11); hecka expensive to say the least. #1 banh mi //cold cuts - fairly small compared to the well known chains - absolutely delicious and crisp if you eat it immediately...once you let it sit, it becomes soggy and chewy - interestingly, they use fresh ingredients? I state this because their cold cuts were the "normal" pale color instead of the reddish color you typically see for combo cold cuts - their pickled veggies tastes homemade and different than what you'd get in store/prepackaged - also interesting that they place the jalapeño and cucumber on the bottom of the sandwich instead of the top - waaaayyyy too much pate and mayo #11 summer roll with shrimp Hmmmm where do I begin? It definitely tastes like a summer roll due to the freshness and bright veggie taste (there's shredded carrots in the middle which is out of the norm). However, it tasted absolutely funny. Like odd. Like not good. They also added viet herbs which you no longer commonly come across (I think it was ngo gai? Or something along this line). Sauce is the typical but watery peanut sauce. Slightly annoyed that I think they either slice a large roll into 3 or 2 rolls in half (and packaged one of the other half into another box). Likewise did not appreciate them plastic wrapping them all together as it will stick together, leaving holes. ***It would be appreciated if they could individually wrap or leave at least a layer of plastic wrap in between.*** SERVICE: Close to nonexistent. Just took payment via tablet and told you to go to the backside. VIBEZ: All outdoor seating. Pretty much young ones waiting for their food. Located in what looks like a business center with a residential area BECAUSE of parking garages. They do have free 2 hour parking outside but OMG I have never seen such tight spots since being in Hawaii... these days folks like myself drive large SUV cars so much so I think these spots only fit 2 cars before banging into each other :( Like I did not appreciate a minivan parking next to me when he could have parked one spot over... Would I come back? Hmmmmm. Questionable. (There's too much competition) Why 4 stars? Didn't give me trouble at all. Their food except for the minor troubles of the summer roll and oiliness of the banh mi were actually delicious.
This was my second visit to Kibi's Cafe. My first time was at their Orinda location where I tried the chicken and pork vermicelli bowl, which was really solid, especially for the price. This time I ordered the cold cut bánh mì and the grilled pork spring rolls and swapped the peanut sauce for fish sauce. The bánh mì was decent but definitely more on the Americanized side compared to other spots. The bread was the biggest giveaway. It was denser and darker than the typical Vietnamese baguette, which should be lightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. The darker crust also gave it a slight wheat-bread flavor. The aioli (Vietnamese mayo) was another miss for me. Traditional Vietnamese mayo is rich and yolky, but this one didn't have much flavor, even after I asked for extra. The spring rolls were the better part of the meal. The grilled pork had a strong lemongrass flavor that I enjoyed, and the fish sauce was sweeter than what I usually get at Vietnamese places but still good. Overall, I'll give them credit for keeping their prices reasonable, especially considering they're in pricier areas. I just wish the bánh mì leaned a little closer to the traditional style.
I spent the weekend in San Jose eating Vietnamese food and today, I had a craving for banh mi. This location is closest to my house so I drove there for the first time. It's located in a small structure in front of the Atrium building in Walnut Creek. Inside is a small counter with no place to sit. They take your order and you're expected to go outside, on the other side of the store, to wait for your meal. There are a few tables and chairs outside that's ideal when the weather is good. The aroma of freshly cooked Thai tea filled the space. I ordered BBQ pork and it came out smaller than I expected but it tasted clean and fresh. It was enough to satisfy my craving. Service wasn't very fast as they cook the meat as you order that accounts for the freshness of the sandwich. I paid for extra pâté but it still wasn't enough. If you're used the the huge delicious banh mis from Story Road in San Jose, the pork bbq sandwich from here don't measure up as far as I'm concerned. They're much smaller, almost half the size. I wish the pork bbq had more flavor to it and more veggies were added. If you have a big appetite, one sandwich might not be anough.

We will search far and wide for spring rolls that are not deep fried (fresh rolls), have a good peanut sauce, and contain a good amount of vegetables. I can't tell you how many places have a veggie spring roll that consists of 99% rice paper, rice noodle, and lettuce. Where are the veggies! But that changes here. They even have multiple options for me! A full veggie and a lemon grass tofu. We frequent here often specifically for the spring rolls. I am so lucky to live nearby Kibis for this. We've also tried their bahn mi which is okay. The veggies are delicious and fresh, but the bread is a little hard for myself, and my boyfriend doesn't like how dry it is. The noodle salads are much much better. I tried one for the first time on our last visit and became a new fan. The location is in a very small building adjacent to an apartment complex I believe. It's an interesting spot that also has a little patio area outside. Overall I couldn't be happier to finally have a spring roll spot, and one that works for meat eaters and vegetarians. We love Kibis!
Didn't even know about this place till my daughter took me here. In a middle of a business area. Super small inside but there's tables right outside to enjoy your delicious food. I got the lunch special which was a mini sandwich and 3 good size spring rolls. It was a perfect amount for me. Sandwich was tasty and had a good amount of meat in it. Mini one was so cute lol. Super fast to get your food and very friendly staff.

This place is small but the food here packs flavor! Ordered 2 Banh mi sandwiches and both were really good. It's the kind of place to order and go, or just eat in the car. Staff is friendly and service is fast.

Fantastically priced food that fills me up everytime! Everyone I've interacted with here has been super friendly and pleasant! This is a good regular lunch spot, would come more often myself if I wasn't as far! The outdoor seating is also just a nice place to hang out for a while! read more

This is the go to spot by far. The traditional bahn me sandwiches are so good combined with the iced coffee... name a better combo... don't think you can. This business is expanding to Danville as well... which they should. Make sure you get in here asap. Best food I have had in a while. read more

Delicious and fresh. The bread was perfectly crispy and the toppings inside were great. They were fresh and crunchy. It paired well with the fresh herbs too and the juicy meat. This was so flavorful. I loved this cute café! It's very small but you can eat outside. read more
I was in the area and decided to stop by for lunch. This is a grab and go place you can not eat there. The parking is small but it connects to a larger parking lot. It's literally just a small Kitchen that you go pay and leave. About three people fit inside. There's no tables. The menu is big where you can see it. I ordered a chicken bahmi sandwich. I've had a lot of bahmi sandwiches so i know what to expect. This one the chicken was like in a curry yellow sauce not at all traditional. I personally don't like curry so the sandwich was not good for me. I asked for extra veggies and it didn't have extra. Unfortunately I did not like the yellow chicken but they were very nice. read more
kibi's Cafe Walnut Creek is located just on the outskirts of the downtown area down the street, and where the old John Muir PT center used to be located. Now it's kind of a desolate business center, but that could certainly be a good thing for parking, as the side where the PT center used to be has nobody there now, though I can't speak for the parkability of those spots without worrying about towing. Nevertheless, kibi does have some spots right next to them. They're kind of in a odd location, at the corner of the front part of the building, but the actual shop front where you order and such is just a small area, where you go in, make your order, and then go outside to wait because there's no space inside. They do have seat behind their shop, which can seat maybe a handful of smaller tables, but at least they have seating, and it is covered from above, but again, weird spot. The menu itself is pretty straight forward. Got banh mis, got some basic spring rolls, and some noodle dishes that includes their grilled meat options. The cost of everything here does seem to be on the cheaper side, especially since it's near Walnut Creek downtown, so a good option to hit up. They even have some lunch specials that are quite comparable where you get a banh mi and a spring roll which is what I got on this visit. The food here was decent. The shrimp spring rolls were good. No complaints, plenty of sauce, and I'm glad it's not filled with mint here as some other places tend to do. The bani mi here was also good, as I got the basic pork banh mi. My main complaint about the banhmi here is that it's tiny. After considering the size of the banhmi I received, and the cost of it, I do feel that it wasn't quite the bang for my buck I had initially imagined when seeing the prices of everything on the menu. The portions of the meats at the very least was good, but again, the size of the banhmi was just so short and small compared to other spots. They also do not use the typically banhmi rolls, and use a different bread, but I don't necessarily hate the bread it comes in, so no big complaints there. Overall, kibi's is a nice spot, especially for those who are in the area, to grab a sandwich and also a spring roll to go, and for a decent cost. While the portion here was just okay, at the very least, the cost makes up for it as it's not expensive, especially when you consider downtown is just down the street, and a banhmi there could cost you 50% more, and you may still be getting the same portion, so not a huge deal in context. I do want to try some of their other sandwiches now, but for heftier eaters, just keep in mind you may need to get two sandwiches to feel full. read more
Dont remember the name of what i got, but this place is alright. Doesn't taste authentic. There was barely any pate in my sandwich or it just wasn't flavorful enough. Definitely need to get the extra pate if you want to taste probably. read more
Food: the Bánh Mì sandwiches from this place are legit. I loved the crunchy exterior on the French baguette roll, which looked almost overbaked at first, but after taking a first bite it was just perfect and soft on the inside. I opted for the most classic #1: Thịt nguội đặc biệt (Cold Cut). It came with pork-hams, shredded chicken, aioli, pâté, julienned daikon and carrot pickle, cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. This sandwich was so balanced - you got the carbs in the form of the baguette, you got the protein from all the cold cuts which are super savory, the pickled veggies added some freshness, the aioli added some fat, and finally the jalapeño added some kick to each bite. I would get this again for sure. $8 as of July 2024. Service: service was quick, but it wasn't clear to me after an order was placed whether I should stay inside the store, which was super duper tiny, or I should go outside and head to the "pick up" area. We ended up not getting our sandwiches until I had to go to them and ask. But other than that, it was fine. Ambiance: the store inside was super small so you could only use that for placing your order, but to dine in they offered an outside sitting area, which is completely shaded (perfect for a hot summer day). read more

I love this place and I get it all the time, but I just found out that they put pork on all of their sandwiches (pate). Maybe this is common knowledge to most people, but it wasn't to me and I don't eat pork so just a note for others. read more

Absolutely delicious Banh Mi sandwiches here. Even better leftover when the flavors absorb into the bread lol. Came here for a quick lunch and were so impressed by the variety of flavors and freshness. Service was quick and friendly. There is no indoor seating that I could see. There is plenty of seating outdoors though. Prices were decent for today. read more
Kibi's is a good spot if you're looking for a quick banh mi or if you work near here. It's not the most authentic but still tasty so nothing to complain about. It is located in an office building so there isn't really any space to eat on site. The staff there is very nice and they have quick service so props to them. read more

Kibi's Cafe in Walnut Creek is such a hidden gem (sort of literally since its kind of tucked away near these buildings)! Their pork bánh mì is absolutely delicious, tender and flavorful , with just the right balance of pickled veggies and fresh herbs. SUPER GOOD The veggie spring rolls are super fresh and light, perfect as a starter or a healthy bite on the go. Packed with crunchy veggies and served with a tasty dipping sauce, they're a great complement to any meal. Friendly staff, quick service, and consistently good food--Kibi's is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area! read more
