Everything was fresh and service was fast! We ordered two banh mi's, iced Thai iced tea and Vietnamese coffee. I recommend taking a break and enjoying your food outside in the seating area.
Banh mi dac biet was good but personally I prefer a softer bread! Goi cuon tom was good and had plenty of fresh veggies, just like how I like it. Order took about 10 mins and it must be really popular because the whole patio seating was filled and there were other people waiting outside of the patio area! The vibe is cute, it's in a weird plaza where you wouldn't expect a banh mi shop but it works! Plenty of parking!
Great food and good service. Family run new establishments that needs our support. I had one (3) piece spring roll and (1) bahn mi sandwich. The spring rolls were freshly made. The sandwich was also fresh, but the chicken lacked flavor. I added some Siracha and Hoisin sauce and it was perfect. The interior is clean and having an open kitchen is encouraging.
Wonderful chicken bahnmi and Vietnamese coffee. Limited menu and no indoor seating. Only outdoor. Definitely recommend. Very reasonable prices.
Interesting location... Their sign (in white) is fairly prominent but it's on a bunch of glass walls. There's a back outdoor seating (you order upfront and pay via Apple Pay, etc) and they tell you to go out "back". There's no indoor seating. Once you order a banh mi, they instantly put a bun in the toaster. THEIR PRICES INCREASED BY 25 cents! For example, banh mi's used to be $8.25 and now it's $8.50; also ordered the spring roll with shrimp (#11); hecka expensive to say the least. #1 banh mi //cold cuts - fairly small compared to the well known chains - absolutely delicious and crisp if you eat it immediately...once you let it sit, it becomes soggy and chewy - interestingly, they use fresh ingredients? I state this because their cold cuts were the "normal" pale color instead of the reddish color you typically see for combo cold cuts - their pickled veggies tastes homemade and different than what you'd get in store/prepackaged - also interesting that they place the jalapeño and cucumber on the bottom of the sandwich instead of the top - waaaayyyy too much pate and mayo #11 summer roll with shrimp Hmmmm where do I begin? It definitely tastes like a summer roll due to the freshness and bright veggie taste (there's shredded carrots in the middle which is out of the norm). However, it tasted absolutely funny. Like odd. Like not good. They also added viet herbs which you no longer commonly come across (I think it was ngo gai? Or something along this line). Sauce is the typical but watery peanut sauce. Slightly annoyed that I think they either slice a large roll into 3 or 2 rolls in half (and packaged one of the other half into another box). Likewise did not appreciate them plastic wrapping them all together as it will stick together, leaving holes. ***It would be appreciated if they could individually wrap or leave at least a layer of plastic wrap in between.*** SERVICE: Close to nonexistent. Just took payment via tablet and told you to go to the backside. VIBEZ: All outdoor seating. Pretty much young ones waiting for their food. Located in what looks like a business center with a residential area BECAUSE of parking garages. They do have free 2 hour parking outside but OMG I have never seen such tight spots since being in Hawaii... these days folks like myself drive large SUV cars so much so I think these spots only fit 2 cars before banging into each other :( Like I did not appreciate a minivan parking next to me when he could have parked one spot over... Would I come back? Hmmmmm. Questionable. (There's too much competition) Why 4 stars? Didn't give me trouble at all. Their food except for the minor troubles of the summer roll and oiliness of the banh mi were actually delicious.
Very quick service! Small outdoor seating outside. I loved the proportions between the meat and veggies, the bread of the banhmi was good too! Just wish it was a little bigger but worth it for the price :)
I'm glad I found Kibi's. It's across the street from the old DMV. There's plenty of parking. The cafe is small inside. I placed my order on their website. It made it easier to get in and out. The ladies at the counter were very nice and welcoming. They have outdoor sitting I opted to take it to go. I had the chicken banh mi and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The bread was crusty and fresh. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. The coffee was slightly bitter and strong. I enjoyed both. Side note the coffee was too good he kept me awake until 2 am.
This was my second visit to Kibi's Cafe. My first time was at their Orinda location where I tried the chicken and pork vermicelli bowl, which was really solid, especially for the price. This time I ordered the cold cut bánh mì and the grilled pork spring rolls and swapped the peanut sauce for fish sauce. The bánh mì was decent but definitely more on the Americanized side compared to other spots. The bread was the biggest giveaway. It was denser and darker than the typical Vietnamese baguette, which should be lightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. The darker crust also gave it a slight wheat-bread flavor. The aioli (Vietnamese mayo) was another miss for me. Traditional Vietnamese mayo is rich and yolky, but this one didn't have much flavor, even after I asked for extra. The spring rolls were the better part of the meal. The grilled pork had a strong lemongrass flavor that I enjoyed, and the fish sauce was sweeter than what I usually get at Vietnamese places but still good. Overall, I'll give them credit for keeping their prices reasonable, especially considering they're in pricier areas. I just wish the bánh mì leaned a little closer to the traditional style.
I spent the weekend in San Jose eating Vietnamese food and today, I had a craving for banh mi. This location is closest to my house so I drove there for the first time. It's located in a small structure in front of the Atrium building in Walnut Creek. Inside is a small counter with no place to sit. They take your order and you're expected to go outside, on the other side of the store, to wait for your meal. There are a few tables and chairs outside that's ideal when the weather is good. The aroma of freshly cooked Thai tea filled the space. I ordered BBQ pork and it came out smaller than I expected but it tasted clean and fresh. It was enough to satisfy my craving. Service wasn't very fast as they cook the meat as you order that accounts for the freshness of the sandwich. I paid for extra pâté but it still wasn't enough. If you're used the the huge delicious banh mis from Story Road in San Jose, the pork bbq sandwich from here don't measure up as far as I'm concerned. They're much smaller, almost half the size. I wish the pork bbq had more flavor to it and more veggies were added. If you have a big appetite, one sandwich might not be anough.
I could not say enough great words about this place. Even with how busy life is, it's important for me to take the time and share how much I love this restaurant. The pro's of eating out are typically met with the cons of an unhealthy meal, especially as a vegetarian, but not here. I can finally pick up food quickly that has fresh vegetables and tofu and feel great. They have both tofu and meat, so it's perfect for my boyfriend and I. Hands down the best part about this place is their spring rolls. We will search far and wide for spring rolls that are not deep fried (fresh rolls), have a good peanut sauce, and contain a good amount of vegetables. I can't tell you how many places have a veggie spring roll that consists of 99% rice paper, rice noodle, and lettuce. Where are the veggies! But that changes here. They even have multiple options for me! A full veggie and a lemon grass tofu. We frequent here often specifically for the spring rolls. I am so lucky to live nearby Kibis for this. We've also tried their bahn mi which is okay. The veggies are delicious and fresh, but the bread is a little hard for myself, and my boyfriend doesn't like how dry it is. The noodle salads are much much better. I tried one for the first time on our last visit and became a new fan. The location is in a very small building adjacent to an apartment complex I believe. It's an interesting spot that also has a little patio area outside. Overall I couldn't be happier to finally have a spring roll spot, and one that works for meat eaters and vegetarians. We love Kibis!
Didn't even know about this place till my daughter took me here. In a middle of a business area. Super small inside but there's tables right outside to enjoy your delicious food. I got the lunch special which was a mini sandwich and 3 good size spring rolls. It was a perfect amount for me. Sandwich was tasty and had a good amount of meat in it. Mini one was so cute lol. Super fast to get your food and very friendly staff.
Great lunch spot with healthy options. It's pretty small so better for take out, but they do have some tables outside.

Kibi's is a good spot if you're looking for a quick banh mi or if you work near here. It's not the most authentic but still tasty so nothing to complain about. It is located in an office building so there isn't really any space to eat on site. The staff there is very nice and they have quick service so props to them. read more

Kibi's Cafe in Walnut Creek is such a hidden gem (sort of literally since its kind of tucked away near these buildings)! Their pork bánh mì is absolutely delicious, tender and flavorful , with just the right balance of pickled veggies and fresh herbs. SUPER GOOD The veggie spring rolls are super fresh and light, perfect as a starter or a healthy bite on the go. Packed with crunchy veggies and served with a tasty dipping sauce, they're a great complement to any meal. Friendly staff, quick service, and consistently good food--Kibi's is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

The vegan bì manh sandwich is sooo good! The bread was warm and buttery and perfectly crispy and soft and it made the whole thing amazing. The flavors are super fresh. Also liked the ice coffee it is strong, and thai tea is good. I like the seating area they have outside and they call your number outside they have Wifi to. Kibi's Cafe is a bánh mì shop located in the Atrium, across the street from the old DMV office. I had this place bookmarked long ago. Finally got a chance to try them out when my friend M and I came here for lunch on 02/08/2023. We walked in at noon and the staff was busy putting orders together, presumably most were from their online ordering system since there were only a couple customers waiting for their food. The interior was tiny with no seating. There were a couple small tables on the sidewalk outside. We ordered two grilled pork bánh mìs, a 3-pc order of shrimp summer rolls, a Vietnamese coffee, and a can of soda. The total was just a bit over $31 with tax. We got our food in about 15 minutes. Portion wise, the sandwiches and summer rolls were noticeably smaller than most places I have been to. Taste wise, they were absolutely delicious. Every bite was packed with freshness and taste. The grilled pork in the bánh mì was wonderfully marinated, and the taste of lime really stood out. Produce used was fresh and crisp. For the Vietnamese coffee, it was about 1/4 cup of coffee and 3/4 cup of ice (I watched the preparation). Not worth it in my opinion. Overall, Kibi's is a nice place to grab freshly made bánh mìs and summer rolls. Price point here is a bit high, but you will definitely get quality food. I will return. 4 stars. They have added a lemongrass tofu banh mi! Still the best banh mi I have ever had. I have to give my appreciation to the owners. They do such an amazing job crafting these sandwiches. It's not easy to nail every component. But, they have nailed it! The bread- perfectly toasted! Has a nice crunch and soft inside. I have been to so many places where they don't even toast the banh mi bread, which makes it too soft and chewy. Toasting the bread makes a huge difference. The veggies- they are dipped in some magical sauce that is delicious! This is probably what makes their sandwiches so good. The sauce is addicting and savory. They also nailed the proportions. Just a little bit of jalapeño, not too much! The carrots, daikon, and cilantro were just the right amount. I have had several banh mis that become overpowered by too many jalapeños. Lemongrass Tofu- perfect amount, and cooked well! read more

Kibis cafe is a new little lunch spot located in Walnut Creek that serves up 3 main Vietnamese dishes : banh mi, spring rolls, and vermicelli ! They specialize in to go orders, so don't expect room to sit in . Their menu is simple and straight forward. I really like how you can add avocado to your means, it's a total game changer! Everything tasted ok , not amazing but they do have vegan options which is nice . I did feel like their coffee didn't taste authentic , more like a sweet Folgers coffee. Overall 3 stars ! Seemingly this spot has been around for awhile? It's a hole-in-the-wall counter with some outside tables outside of this sort of Atrium style mall, aptly named the Atrium. It's super casual, everything is to go boxes, and even if you want some hot sauce/sriracha, it's in the small to-go packets. We both went with the rice noodle plate with chicken and the summer roll with shrimp. It was solid. The rice noodle plate had plenty of chicken, although, I wouldn't say it was super flavorful. The summer rolls were Fresh with a capital F, you could taste the mint and the crunch of the lettuce. The $8 banh mi's looked fantastic, so maybe next time. Overall, a quick, fairly inexpensive option for a casual lunch. read more

Whatever happened to the Bánh Mi of my youth? I missed the crusty bread roll with crunchy veggies and savory chicken, beef or pork. A whole sandwich for just over $4. Well, I know those sandwiches are just a memory of my past and I am now looking at these strange soggy hybrids with peculiar flavor pairings such as crab or sweet meats. Keep It Simple Sweetie. Kibi enters stage left and my senses are piqued. They make the most authentic Bánh Mi that I've come across. Their prices also reflect a realistic inflationary growth. Not your $12-$15 sandwiches but a sensible $8. They also have summer rolls, noodle salads and your Vietnamese coffee and Thai Iced Tea as well. This is your new lunch spot. You're welcome. The shop is tiny, just a sandwich lunch counter. They do have outdoor seating as well. read more

The skinny: Sandwich quality is very high Decent price in Summer of '24 The lengthy: We (2 adults) had to wait for our car to finish up at the nearby America's Tire. We went for a short walk and were tired and hungry. I remembered getting food from Kibi's before. It is a booth connected to a large business building- very unique place. The ladies running the shop are very nice and they get food out very fast - sub 10 minutes for two sandwiches. No indoor seating, but a really nice shaded patio, surrounded by some bushes for privacy. We kept it simple and ordered 2 Grilled Pork Banh Mi: small, about the size of a soda can but they were dense; the bread was super crunchy, the meat was generous and flavorful; the pate, butter, pickled veggies, and jalapeño added the right balance of umami, salty, sweet, sour, and spicy. Maybe a bit too spicy for me, but the backup cashews and pistachios in my bag saved my tongue. These might be the best banh mi in the area, if you are aiming for quality over quantity. Also, decently priced in this economy: two sandwiches for right under $20, tax included. If I am in the area, I will likely be back! read more
What a cute little restaurant tucked into one of the supporting legs of an office building! Kibi's is one of those places that you just get a feeling about, and my instincts were right! I parked to go to another restaurant when I saw Kibi's. I knew (had that feeling) I had to try it! I'm not disappointed! I ordered the Bun salad w/pork and an extra protein side of tofu. The pork and tofu were seasoned oh so perfectly, and they complimented the vermicelli noodles and greens really well! The greens were fresh and crispy and were a delightful melody of mint leaves, lettuce, red cabbage, peanuts and pickled shredded carrots. The combination was tied together by the sweet vinegar dressing that made the salad just short of amazing! Kibi's also serves Vietnamese sandwiches (Bahn mi). The prices are reasonable and the salad serving was generous! It appears to be a family run establishment. The staff was friendly, courteous and efficient. My salad was prepp'd quickly and I was on my way quickly. There's no indoor seating but they have a relatively large outdoor seating area! I was impressed enough to promise myself on my next trip, I'll try the Bahn mi! It's worth the drive if you're in a nearby location! read more

I was looking for places to eat near the hotel I'm staying at and this placed popped up. I had the lemongrass tofu banh mi and it was tasty. It's a little bit spicy so it grabbing the Vietnamese ice coffee helps it. Definitely would come back here. read more

I love how they pack the sandwich. The veggie and meat is equal in every bite versus just putting it on top. Inside is clean, food is consistently good and the bahn mi isn't messy when eating! read more

Came her during lunch with the boo to grab a bite. It's tucked away, but has a small outdoor covered patio with a few tables to eat. You order inside and wait in the patio area until your number gets called. Lunch time gets pretty busy, so you may need to wait unless you've ordered takeout. Three lovely workers behind the counter are quickly fulfilling orders so please be patient! We ordered the combo, which comes with a 4" banh mi (got the cold cut) and 3 shrimp spring rolls as well as the chicken banh mi. The chicken banh mi was delicious; the chicken was flavorful with slight curry spice. The shrimp spring rolls were also decent, strong in mint flavor, which added a dimension of fresh herb-ness. The cold cut banh mi is always my go-to, and in this sandwich was pretty good in terms of filling to bread ratio. However my only gripe is that the bun was overly toasted and too crunchy. May be a problem with the smaller 4" sandwiches as the regular banh mi had softer bread. Overall a great find for a quality lunch! read more

Honestly I read reviews about this place and I was skeptical. In my experience, the more hole in the wall the location, the better the banh mi. Not the case here!! I was so pleasantly surprised that after I finished my first sandwich I ordered another for later. I've been back two more times this past week. Excellent banh mi and other Vietnamese dishes in a totally unexpected location. Parking has always been easy for me, and there's a cute little basic outdoor area if you want to stick around and eat. Food is fresh and pretty fast coming out of the kitchen. Workers are super friendly and helpful. Bathrooms available in the office building. read more

Stopped by after a doctors appointment for a quick lunch. Read the reviews and was excited to try their banh mi. We tried the pork banh mi and the shrimp summer roll. The shrimp roll was fresh and refreshing. The pork banh mi had good flavor. The pork was a little dry for my taste- it needed more sauce or something, but the bread was so good- soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. read more

I work in Walnut Creek and I've been hunting down a good Vietnamese place to go to for lunch. Kibi's is such a hidden gem, and I absolutely love it here! I've tried their shrimp spring rolls and their grilled pork noodle salad. Their ingredients are always super fresh and, of course, super tasty! I know I'm getting the best quality vegetables here for sure! I especially love their Viet iced coffee, never too sweet or super bitter, just perfect. Aside from the food itself, I loveeee supporting this cafe specificially because of their story, especially since it's one I can relate to! This family deserves the WORLD! They'll definitely be seeing me a lot more :) Note: If you're ordering here for lunch, def recommend online ordering and timing it so that they get it in on time. WOW! Wish I had taken more pictures. This place is a hidden gem. Tucked inside the Atrium at Broadway is this shop. I placed an online order to make it easier to pick up and go. The easiest, well thought out and organized system IMO. There was even an area for notes and check boxes for options. My order was made perfectly! Banh mi - (2) #2 grilled pork, (1) #3 lemongrass chicken (no jalapeño, no pate), (1) #2 grilled pork, veggies on the side, (2) cafe Sua da and (1) shrimp spring roll. My lemongrass chicken banh mi was eaten hours later after pick up and tasted oh sooo good. The bread was a bit crunchy on the outside and soft inside that soaked up the juices. It was filled nicely with meat and veggies. Each bite was perfect. My husband ate his #2 veggies on the side for lunch today (food was bought yesterday) He toasted the bare sandwich for a few minutes in the toaster over, added the veggies and BAM!! It tasted just as good as if it was just made. Cafe Sua da was nice and strong. Had to add a splash of half and half just to make it a bit creamier (that's the way I like it.) Shrimp spring roll with peanut butter sauce IF you're in the area and want banh mi, this is the place to go! I will definitely be going back! read more
