Cute little restaurant located in downtown Danville. We came to town to visit some friends and family. It so happen to be Valentine's Day. Although the Valentine's Day crowds were everywhere, we managed to make a reservation on Open Table for an early dinner and am glad we did! Staff were super friendly and welcoming, giving us some great recommendations. Food was super tasty! I had the Basil fried rice and it had just the right amount of spiciness to enjoy. I came here for the second time, the first time the street had no power but yesterday I finally got to try the food. We ordered the short rib plate, green chicken curry, Thai fried rice with chicken, and the mango sticky rice. I liked that there was a lot of curry and it was enough for me to keep dipping my jasmine rice. The fried rice was really good as well. As for the short rib plate, it was $70 and I honestly didn't think that was worth it. I would give the mango sticky rice dessert a 3.5 because of the sweetness. It wasn't sweet enough and I was expecting condensed milk or something similar in sweetness. The mango itself was also very tart. The service was OK. My husband and I dined at Zaya Thai this past weekend and we both agreed this restaurant served one of the best papaya salads we've ever had at a Thai place. Parking: medium size lot shared between a lot of businesses in the plaza so parking was very difficult for dinner at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. I got lucky finding a spot after circling around twice but my husband had to park 5 minutes away and walk to the restaurant. Plan accordingly for parking. Ambience: chic, colorful and vibrant. They have an open bar area and the restaurant is medium size. Tables are spread out and a Christmas tree was even set up near the back in preparation for Christmas. This is a good spot for a casual date or a friends and family gathering. Service: 5/5. Our server was super friendly and attentive. She checked in on us frequently and our waters were refilled promptly. When the check came, she gave us a lot of privacy with the portable machine which we totally appreciate. Food: 3.5/5. The papaya salad was so delicious. It was refreshing and the warm vermicelli noodles added a nice touch to the dish. It came with some very sweet tomatoes which you don't normally come across in the US. The crab fried rice was pretty good but the rice was too soggy. We could, however, taste a good amount of crab in this dish so they definitely didn't skimp on the meat. We also ordered the pad see ew with beef. The beef was cooked a bit dry and the portion size for the noodles were a bit small. Plus it came with way too much carrots. Taste was fairly good. Portion sizes were on the smaller end given the price point. Cost: $$. Our total excluding tip for 2 main dishes and a salad came out to about $70+. If the parking situation gets better, we will come back to try other dishes and order the papaya salad again. read more

Planned a lunch with a bunch of friends. The numbers kept fluctuating till after we arrived. Not a problem with the staff. A dozen showed up! Sad to see a very empty restaurant on a Friday for lunch. Except for one, the rest ordered from the lunch specials menu. The "one" ordered a crab omelette. Came way too late and it was sad! Sad! However, the server offered an apology and an alternate choice. Lesson learned - skip the brunch and stick with the lunch menu. Daughter is home for the Holidays and we've frequented the other 3+ Thai restos in our hometown. We wanted to take her to Zaya since it's one of the newer ones and she hasn't tried it. It was a disappointing experience. We raved about our fave dish the crying tiger and the cut was all wrong with mainly fatty, chewable and not edible. We cut out what we could eat but just wasn't great unfortunately. We did bring it up to one of the servers and she said they don't really know what they will get in the box and so sometimes the cut will include the hard part and we're thinking why would they serve it if they themselves will probably not eat it and the fact they know it's not a good part of the meat! As for the rest of the dishes they were fine but really can't turn back the dining experience we had with our daughter who was home for Thanksgiving. Zaya Thai Pantry was such a great find. Thank you Google and Yelp for allowing me to discover this gem. Zaya rests at the heart of downtown Danville. I was enticed by their menu of traditional Thai street foods, signature items, as well as their brunch offerings. It seemed to have a thoughtfully curated menu that catered towards Bay Area folks who may want to try traditional Thai flavors with a twist. I ended up ordering the Wagyu Sandwich which had savory shredded beef and slaw on a buttered brioche bun served with a side of pickled item as well as spicy house potatoes. It was the perfect amount of food and very well balanced. My boyfriend ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich which came with a generous fried chicken patty covered in a sweet and spicy glaze (omg it was so good) with a side of picked items as well as slaw on the side. It was also perfectly balanced trio of items. Between the two of us, we also shared the Spiced Chicken and Croffle, which came with an amazing spicy-sweet house made maple syrup. The Thai-Spiced chicken was tasty and relatively tender, but the chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was top-tier and, albeit different, was preferred. Zach/Zack, the owner also swung by our table with complimentary Thai Iced teas for the two of us. It was such an unexpected kind gesture and I was so surprised that I couldn't form any sentences. Zaya Thai Pantry is the newest Thai cuisine in the Tri-Valley. Located the in Downtown Danville they take over the space last occupied by a sports bar. The restaurant is actually pretty big with indoor and patio seating. The menu is interesting with your classic Thai fare with some non traditional items. The prices are a little high for Thai food but the portions are larger. We went for lunch and there was only one server / host / cashier and she was overwhelmed with the tables inside and going out to the patio. The food was excellent, however both the kitchen staff and the server were not prepared for the amount of customers. Minus star.The food took a long time to come out including between dishes. Plenty of parking in the public parking right behind the establishment. Might give them a try when they better staff. read more

This was a really great Thai spot situated in the heart of Danville downtown. We went for a friend's birthday and they were able to accommodate a big group. The ambiance of the place is really nice and the staff were friendly. Our favorite thing was the lychee martinis they were packed with the alcohol punch, but yummy taste or lychee. We liked it so much we got a second one. Definitely recommend this refreshing drink! The food was pretty good, I really enjoyed my pad see ew dish. What a hidden gem! It's tucked way back if you're on Hartz Avenue. But if you are in the parking lot behind it, the entrance is close to the sidewalk and absolutely darling. We weren't super hungry so we ordered a lychee martini, chai old fashioned, roti & curry (yellow) and split a Spiced Chicken & Croffle. It was all so good! Zaya has been my go to for Thai food for a while and I have been there several times including twice this year in Jan and Feb 2025. I visited this restaurant with my family on Thursday 2nd 2026 - my son had planned this to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. From the moment we were seated, the staff's attitude came across as rude and unwelcoming. Instead of feeling like valued customers, we felt like an inconvenience. Throughout the meal, there was a noticeable sense of urgency from the staff that made us uncomfortable. It felt as though we were being rushed to eat quickly and leave, even though the restaurant was not overly busy. At one point, the tone and behavior of the staff became so aggressive that it took away from what should have been a relaxed family outing and celebration Dining out is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, especially with family, but this visit left us feeling stressed and unwelcome. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving customer service, as no guest should feel pressured or disrespected while simply trying to enjoy a meal. read more

My family and I were in the downtown and looking for a restaurant and this one has banners on the main road promoting their menu. I looked online to see the full menu and it looked promising. The restaurant tucked a bit in the corner, but it is spacious inside with nice decor and fancy seating. We were seated immediately and only 1 table was occupied on Sunday afternoon. We were given a bunch of menu cards and realized they have very limited menu for lunch and the one which I saw online is a Dinner menu. I was so sad as my family was planning to order chicken satay and wanted to try something special. So ended up ordering a couple of dishes since we made ourselves comfortable at the table. The noodles from the kids menu is actually flat noodles and with hardly any veggies or meat. But they tasted good. The crispy chicken with rice, the chicken is tasty but somehow the whole dish is very greasy. The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside, the best part of the whole visit. Even the dessert menu has just 3 dishes, sadly. But still ordered fried banana with ice cream. The ice cream is definitely not the fresh one it was frozen and hard to eat. In most Thai restaurants, the assumption is that when you select your protein, it's included in the pricing. Here, it's the opposite. When you order Pumpkin Curry, it's essentially vegetarian. If you want to add a protein, it will cost you an additional dollar amount added to the existing price. The taste of the food was good, it's just a bit pricey. I had the Harvest Benedict-poached egg on English muffin with cherry tomatoes, spinach and avocado. (I requested that they hold the mushrooms.) The hollandaise sauce was something special, very slightly spicier than usual hollandaise sauce and very tasty. My husband had their firecracker omelet with hash browns. Also very good. The dishes at this restaurant are overpriced. The food is just average, yet it's more expensive than two other Thai restaurants nearby. I've been here for both lunch and dinner, and I still don't understand why they don't turn on the lights -- it's always so dark inside. The portion sizes are on the small side, and we didn't feel full either. What's most confusing is that we had 4 adults and 3 children, and we were forced to pay a 20% service fee for no service. Compared to other restaurants that charge a 20% service fee, this one really isn't worth it. I finally understand why there were only three tables on a Friday night including ours. read more

As soon as we approached the entry of Zaya Thai, the coowner Zach propped open the door for us and showed us to a table. The atmosphere inside was dark, modern, and elegant, and the menu showcased a creative mix of fusion brunch dishes and traditional Thai food too! We started with the Papaya Salad, a refreshing mixture of shredded papaya, green beans, tomatoes, carrots, peanuts, garlic, and chilies in a sweet and sour tamarind dressing, served with bundles of rice noodles. From the brunch menu, the Coconut Cloudcakes were a stack of three pancakes stuffed with coconut meat and topped with a sweet and creamy coconut sauce, strawberries, blueberries, and mango. But my favorite item was the Chicken Khao Soi, a dish of egg noodles in a creamy spiced coconut sauce, served with a braised chicken leg quarter, crispy egg noodles, pickled greens, onions, and chili crisp on the side. The noodle soup was a delicious mixture of curry sauce, tender chicken, and both soft and crispy egg noodles, making for a well-rounded dish! Overall, the food here was spot-on in flavor and presentation, but even more memorable was the super friendly, hospitable service. Zach came by to our table multiple times to make conversation and check in with us, and even saw us off when we were about to leave!
