Nilo's is open with no plans to close! There hours are reliable, the food is fresh and delicious. We decided to come here to support a business without much foot traffic. Very kid friendly, with a large kids menu. Atmosphere was dark, pleasing and comfortable. We had the scampi, fettuccine chicken Alfredo, kids cheese pizza and spaghetti with meat sauce. All were very good and gobbled up! Portions are good. Prices are fair! Family of 4 ate for $90 - for a birthday dinner! Service was good and the food came out quickly and nice and hot. My wife and I attended a cultural event at the Blackhawk Museum and went for a walk around the plaza and saw Nilo's. It has been awhile since we last dined at the restaurant. It was good to see they were still in business. The plaza has been losing visitors for years which makes it extremely challenging for any restaurant to survive. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and my wife ordered a burger with fries to go. The spaghetti noodles were flat and soft. The sauce had a little tangy flavor and the meatballs were good sized and tender. Overall a good dish. My wife ordered her burger well done and it was cooked perfectly, tender and not dried out. The bun was soft and the fries were cooked just right, not limp or over fried. Let's keep this restaurant in business and drop in to try one of the many dishes to choose from. I had Nilo cater for a birthday party next door at Dreamland and had a wonderful experience! I ordered a tray of the Caesar salad, Nilo pasta, spaghetti & meatballs, and salmon fettuccini and all the dishes were delicious with great party portions. My personal favorite was the spaghetti & meatballs, and we can't wait to go back to try the rest of their dishes and calzones! I had a frustrating experience that I feel compelled to share. We visited this restaurant with our child, and upon entering, the server working there--possibly the owner--greeted us and unexpectedly touched our child's face while saying, "how cute." While I assume it was well-intentioned, it caught me completely off guard and felt inappropriate. We ordered our food and tried to be patient, understanding that she appeared to be the only one working the floor. Service wasn't great, but we were willing to let that slide. We ordered a kids' meal for our child, which was supposed to come with a drink. When the drink didn't arrive until we were done with our food, I asked the server about it, and she responded--very loudly and unprofessionally--saying, "You didn't ask for the drink!! You have to ask for the drink because I don't know what you want!" I was shocked by the tone and lack of basic courtesy. To top it off, the bill had an incorrect charge for the wine we ordered--higher than what was listed. When I pointed it out, she didn't seem particularly apologetic. The chicken calzone! Regular sized fork, knife and napkin for scale in the picture. It was not mini. At $20.64 (tax included, not tip) that was 2 meals for one hungry me. I very happily packed my leftovers to take home. The calzone was made fresh, came out piping hot and the inside was filling, and hearty (homestyle maybe would be a better word?). I went on a quiet Sunday afternoon and chose the restaurant because I wanted peace and a pleasant comfortable ambience on a warm day. I've waited a few days to offer this review. I was so insulted and upset when I left this restaurant I didn't want to leave a review in the heat of the moment. We were a group of four. And at 1:00 pm on a Sunday we were the only people in the restaurant. We should have looked for a different option right then. We ordered two apps. Artichoke dip and garlic bread. The dip came out first. My friend and I each dipped in. Both our eyes popped open and we said "this has gone bad" it tasted like sour milk. I immediately drank water. The men took a bite. One husband said it tasted bad. The said he couldn't tell. But no one was willing to take another bite. We did eat a few of the chips. Not many. When the server came to the table with our "garlic bread", made in the form of a pizza and looking like it hadn't been cooked - it was pure white, not one spot of crispy brown or heat related cooking to it. I said "we like to return the dip, sorry to say, but it's gone bad." The server immediately was defensive and said they had just bought the ingredients yesterday. "Well, I said, I can't explain that but this dish is sour" she said we could not have our money back. (To be honest I could care less about the money) her attitude was extremely rude. Then she said " you've already ate half of it!" That did it. We had four dips. No way had any of us eaten half. We got up and each couple put $20 in the table. We decided to try a new restaurant for dinner that was close to Yersen's because we planned to have gelato of dessert, but dinner wasn't planned. We found Nilo's restaurant via Yelp and decided to try it. We ordered fettuccine Alfredo, kids pesto pasta, kids spaghetti, the scallop calamari shrimp pasta and a soup and salad. For each of our dishes, we all felt like it tasted homemade and not fake or overproduced. It was nice to walk in and have a cozy family vibe inside. I really liked that the minestrone was full of vegetables that reminded me of ratatouille. Ordered take out for my family and myself. We ordered the wings and calamari. Wings were good and had a nice spice. The calamari was bland to say the least and needed to be way more crispy and flavored. My daughter got a kids pasta with added chicken. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. My husband got a salmon pasta he enjoyed it. The sauce was really good but wasn't even a full salmon piece of salmon. I got a mushroom burger I asked for it to be medium it was over cooked which I didn't mind but the lettuce was wilted and brown why even put it on the burger :(. We also had a bottle of the house red wine and it was pretty good. The service was nice the girl working had really nice pink hair and was so sweet. They offered even to help me carry my order to the car. The restaurant was empty, but it was 715 pm on a Wednesday night. when I first walked in, I was like oh no, it's empty. Nilo's is a small Italian restaurant in the Blackhawk mall. We started with the pear Gorgonzola salad. The flavor captured our taste buds nicely. The staff nicely split this for us since they knew we were splitting it. Next was the salmon fettuccine. There was a good amount of salmon nicely placed on properly cooked fettuccine. Ground Parmesan is available for the asking. We sat next to the fireplace. Since it was hot it obviously wasn't on:-) It will be fun to go back when it is cooler. The owner had a nice west bay pizza shop for many years do, to no surprise, he made a flatbread/pizza garlic bread. It added great flavors to our dinner. We need to try other flatbreads. The mall needs more foot traffic but that didn't stop Nilo's from creating great food. read more

This was the worst dining experience that I have had in my 63 years. My coworker and I just wanted a relaxing lunch in beautiful Danville. Unfortunately , because the Bar and Grill restaurant was closed, we selected Nilo. The restaurant was deserted with only the two owners visible. We wanted to support what appears to be a failing business. Bad decision on our part. The owners appear to be racist and the food was horrific. It was clearly premade and warmed in the microwave. When we shared our concerns we were verbally attacked and there was no attempt to listen or mitigate our concerns. They actually stated "oh, you must not live out here". What?! I'm beyond disgusted with this type of behavior in 2025. We were the ONLY customers and now it's clear why. It was an odd interaction--felt like he was annoyed that we were there. Took him a while to come by the table, didn't bring any water. A group of friends were taking me out to lunch for my birthday and they allowed me to pick the place. I've been wanting to support small businesses in the community. Every time I go by Nilo it's empty and I could never understand why so I wanted to give them a try and see what kind of experience we would have because when I read the reviews, they were all mixed. Some people said it was good and some people said they had a bad experience.. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now I know why no one is ever in there... First of all, I walked through the door and was not greeted at all. The woman standing at the bar, gave me a side eye look, and didn't say anything until I spoke to her first. Even after that, she didn't come over to the table to greet us give her name, let us know we were welcome, etc. We were a party of 6 and she brought 3 waters to the table . So we had to obviously ask for more waters . Getting them refilled was a chore throughout our lunch. My friend wanted soup, which is stated on the menu.. she asked what kind of soup they had and the response was "none". ‍. Hmmmmm.... Interesting...... After finally ordering two burgers with fries, three salads (which were the same). And one pasta dish we began to wait........ 45 min later our food finally came out served one plate at a time. We asked for bread with our salad and pasta dishes, and her answer was "we don't have bread for that, we would have to make and bake it" (another interesting comment as most Italian places serve bread with their dishes) So we waited 15 minutes for her to "make and bake the bread" which came out 15 minutes later very undercooked. And it wasn't really bread. It was like a flat pizza crust . As far as the food goes, these are the responses from our party: 1). Burgers were not good and one was undercooked. 2). Chicken on the salad was tough and some of the lettuce was slimy. My friend had a gnat crawling around in her salad. 3). The pasta dish was supposed to be angel hair pasta with tomatoes, basil, and chicken. It came back very soupy and definitely with canned dark tomatoes in a weird red sauce no basil and tough chicken. I have to say our experience was obviously not good and we will not be back. I honestly do not know how they stay in business. It's unfortunate because I was hoping to find a "hidden gem"... I'm surprised this place has 4.5 stars. I'm giving it two and that's generous. The four of us came on Saturday for a birthday and expected a bit more based on the reviews. Let me start with the good. The server who took care of us was so charming and friendly. Loved her! But that's where it ends. The food was just awful. We started off with the Bruschetta which was so bland and terrible. Tomatoes were bitter, bread wasn't even grilled or toasted enough and the pesto on it gave it a weird flavor with the bitter tomatoes. No basil or cheese or flavor. The Arnold Palmer was so weird and heavily sweet. They must have sweetened iced tea and then mix it in with overly sweet lemonade. Who has sweetened ice tea in an Arnold Palmer? Just strange. We had the vegetable soup which was basically salt and mushrooms. It was ok but very salty....I think I'm being nice here. The wedge salad our table mates ordered was so boring with bitter tomatoes and bland blue cheese, and the wedge had an old core I could plainly see. My husband ordered the seafood pasta and it was swimming in water and oil (it was supposed to be a light tomato sauce) and the scallops were so tiny it was ridiculous. My chicken with artichoke and lemon was also strange. It was completely off balance and did not have grilled chicken. Why not at least grill the chicken. It was so strange and weird. I only ate a bit of it because I was so hungry. One of us had spaghetti and meatballs which was a complete miss with a very strange flavor. We asked for some bread and they brought four tiny slices of sourdough bread, barely toasted with no butter, olive oil or anything. Just dry bread sitting on a plate. Seriously??? Onto dessert...that was one of the worst tiramisu's I've ever had. Talk about DRY. There is zero creaminess or flavor for that matter. Our table mates had the mango mousse and another odd flavor. And I love mango mousse! I will never be back. I can't imagine this place will last. Save your money and go somewhere else. God awful. Oh and by the way my husband and I tossed our leftovers in the trash in a garbage can on the way out of the mall. I'm not sure I've ever done that anywhere! RESPONSE TO BUSINESS. I did not come back and ask for a bag. There were four of us. We didn't talk about it at the table because we didn't know what our table mates thought until we left. Nilo was basically empty when we came in (not surprising because Blackhawk Plaza was basically empty as well) but it had great ambiance and great outdoor and indoor seating. Our server, Annalise, was extremely sweet and helped us throughout our dining experience. We all got the lunch specials, which was a great price and portion. I got the rosemary chicken penne, per her request, which was great- light, flavorful, and satisfying. I loved that this place was served like a true Italian restaurant- included bread and butter were served first (the bread was delicious and fluffy), then the salads, and concluded by the main dish. The salad (part of the lunch special) was simple but good and helped me work up appetite for the pasta. We all loved the pasta, and the portions were very generous, especially considering the price and the fact it was a lunch special. The rosemary flavor was delicious in my penne. Came here as I saw it got 4 stars. Restaurant was not busy except for a few large parties outside in the patio. Was seated immediately. Restaurant seems new. Ordered our food and drinks fairly quickly. Food came in reasonable time. We started with garlic bread which was good. The Caesar salad was a bit different than we are used to, but was fine. I had the wedge salad which was fine. For the main course we had the cheese and beef ravioli and the rosemary pasta. Both were ok. My wife brought me here after raving about the lunch she had here, so we camet for dinner. We both had the seafood pasta, the special of the day. There was plenty of seafood (prawns, calamari, scallops and fish.) Great flavor and cooked perfectly. For dessert my wife has the tiramisu and I had the mango mousse. My mousse was light and tasty. My wife said that the tiramisu was the best she has had and talked about it all the way home. The owner, Kayvon was personable and a wonderful host. Nilo's has become our new favorite restaurant, so much so that we had to get a gift certificate to give to a friend so they can experience this wonderful restaurant. read more

The owners are very rude. My husband and 10 year old son set up with Bamville card shop and setup close to the restaurant. The lady came out and was rude telling them multiples times they have to move their table. Then the husband came out demanding to have the table moved which the entire time my husband said ok and was packing the cards up to move . They could have come out and politely explained for them to move .
