My colleagues and I were attending an event near by and needed a bite before Go Time. We decided to walk to Nilo because it was close and it had mostly great reviews. The place was empty, other than one small party of 4. There was one man running the whole show, which I do have to give him credit for. We let him know we are on limited time and ready to order as soon as he's able to take our orders. He takes our orders, 3 out of 4 of us order food - pasta dish, soup and salad and a sandwich. He runs back and cooks the food himself. Checks on the small party, runs back. Brings our drinks and runs back to finish prepping our food. Brings our food back. I was a bit surprised on what I got. I ordered the pesto sandwich which I assumed would come in fresh baked ciabatta bread or something similar. Nope, bun looked like a generic burger bun. Very little pesto. Chicken was okay but needed some seasoning. It also came with what looked like frozen fry's. He did get us out on time to make our event. He did try and service our table but I felt bad he was running the place alone. It was a Thursday around 4pm and perhaps his staff gets there later for dinner. If the greetings continue the way I was greeted when I came here, they will be closing like all of the other business at Blackhawk Plaza. My friend and I came here on a late afternoon and wanted to try this place out. The man working was so rude to us that we were so uncomfortable. It was like we were bothering him by wanting to eat there??? It was honestly so strange. We were so perplexed by his behavior! He told us to wait for 5 minutes to clean and set up a table. Why wasn't there anything already cleaned and set up? There was literally only one other person there. It just seemed like he wanted to make us feel uncomfortable and go somewhere else so he didn't have to take care of us. We ended up just going somewhere else because we could tell by his greeting, we were going to have a very awkward and unpleasant experience. Please do better! read more

Every time I walk through the Draeger's market area I see Nilo's. I've looked at the menu multiple times and though all the options sound good and it's reasonably priced for Danville/Black Hawk. But it's always empty when I'm there which is during the day on the weekends. I looked at Yelp and with all the 5 star reviews, I had to give it a try. The staff (which I assume was the owner) and service were excellent. The food on the other hand was meh. Just OK. It's pretty clear they're not interested in having you enjoy your meal--honestly, they seem to not want you there at all. I went there today, and before I even had a chance to sit down, the waitress told me she was extremely busy and didn't have time for serving me. While I was still standing, she even said, "don't keep asking me where the food is," even though I hadn't asked her anything yet. I completely understand that they were busy because of an event, but what happened next was even worse. Instead, she spent 10 minutes repeating the same thing over and over--that there were two tables ahead of me that needed to serve first, and that she didn't have time to take my order. First time here to meet friends for lunch. For starters, we had the bruschetta. The bread had a perfect crispy texture, and the tomato topping was fresh and flavorful. Two of us had the shrimp pesto pasta, which was delicious! My other friend had seafood pasta ( gluten free) with a red sauce. She said often people overcook the gluten free pasta, but her dish was cooked perfectly. They ended the meal with a gluten free chocolate indulgence cake. I was too full to try it, but they said it was delicious:) The service was spot on. Our glasses were always full, as were our stomachs:) Restaurant is clean and situated in Blackhawk, with a nice view from our table. We will definitely be back! read more

I dined there yesterday afternoon with a friend. First time ever eating there We both ordered their bacon Gorgonzola burgers medium. The burgers were served so overly well done and dry which made them difficult to eat. The fries that with the burger were mediocre at best. Needless to say this is the first and last time I'll ever eat there. My biggest regret is not complaining and sending the over cooked burger back. read more

Food was ok. Tasty, salty, definitely a bit too saucy for authentic Italian. Biggest ding was that service was not great. Server seemed off on multiple occasions (gave us less plates and bowls, got our dessert order wrong and tried to make excuses for it instead of just apologizing the fault). We ordered the kids meal which we later found out came with a drink, she never asked us if we wanted it and when we requested it, she said she never mentioned it cuz it was optional and we had to ask so we literally had to say back to her "ok, can we please have the lemonade with the kids meal." Server (potentially owner, not sure) seemed defensive (but did talked with a smile)... we went there for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Didn't feel too special. Honestly, wish we picked somewhere else. From the moment my two friends and I stopped into Nilo, the owner was very welcoming and attentive, promptly asking us what beverages we'd like. The menu has several choices starting with appetizers, a dozen different salads, numerous pasta dishes, sandwiches and burgers, and even a large kids menu. Dessert choices are decadent. My review includes value. If you have ever had dinner at any Blackhawk restaurants, you would be as shocked as I was to see how reasonably priced this place is. I had chicken parmigiana and my wife had a simple spaghetti with Marinara sauce. They were both pretty tasty. They make garlic bread with their pizza dough. Nice concept. We had a very nice chat with one of the owner. They are being screwed by the mall management as they refuse to maintain the facility. Fireplaces outside are non functional. Always the little guy that gets it. This place deserves a chance. I hope they make it. Not helpful that the theaters are closed and there is no foot traffic. read more

A lovely, tranquil patio in view of the Plaza pond and it's ducks. Enjoyed wine, a Caesar Salad, and today's special: Shrimp Pesto Pasta. Expecting pasta with thick pesto and shrimp, I was delighted by a far more sophisticated dish and presentation of spaghetti, a lightly-creamy pesto, tomatoes, shrimp cooked just right, and sautéed mushrooms (I don't like mushrooms, but I never mentioned it so he didn't know).
