I finished off my redemption with the almond orange cake and I wasn't a fan of the basalmic glaze but that was just personal preference. Another appetizer that I got was the sautéed edamame. The flavor of the edamame was really nice and I liked it as well. For my main dish, I got the lobster mac. The chunks of lobster in the mac were really good. The mac and cheese itself was really cheesy and creamy, making it so delicious! Came here for brunch and it was such a treat. We were the only ones I the place when they opened which was so nice and relaxing for a Sunday morning. We started with The WF Up cocktail which was delicious and I love that they offer different flavors, I had the salted Carmel . My friend and I aren't picky eaters and we do like going to places and trying a whole bunch of items so we can experience different dishes at once. We are actually very easy to please, so that's why it's a bummer that I had to give 2 stars. I'll start off with the positive though. The service was outstanding! Our server was extremely welcoming from the second we walked in. He was polite, attentive, caring, and extremely considerate. He went out of his way to give us great service and then some just by observing. For example, my friend and I were sharing our dishes, so we served ourselves from the big main plates and transferred what we were going to eat into small appetizer plates. We didn't want to bother anyone by asking for bigger plates. He noticed and brought us bigger plates so we would have more room to eat. That was so thoughtful. He always made sure our drinks were filled. I would definitely give him 10 stars for service!! Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment and not worth any kind of return trip. 1. Brioche French Toast: This was the only dish that was tasty and acceptable, however it was very basic. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything to be wow'd over and warrant us wanting to come back for it. 2. Mushroom Cheese Omelette: I feel like people always eat with their eyes first. It was the most depressing looking plate. At least add some garnish on top of the omelette to make it look appetizing. It didn't taste better than it looked either. The omelette was dry and hard and there was hardly any cheese. It was filled mostly with mushrooms and arugula and had zero flavor. The breakfast potatoes were terrible, I'm sorry to say. They were hard and so many pieces were absolutely uncooked. They had no taste, but most importantly, they should be cooked. 3. Shakshouka: We were looking forward to this, but this was a letdown as well. The poached eggs were over cooked so we didn't get the nice runny yolk one expects from this dish. The pita bread was also hard and cold. It would have been better if the pita bread had been soft at least. 4. Smashed Burger: The burger was dry and it felt like the meat was either extremely old or cooked previously and just warmed up when ordered. The truffle aioli was basically mayonnaise. We were expecting a nice juicy burger with a flavorful aioli. 5. Truffle fries: We ordered truffle fries with the burger instead of the regular fries it comes with. We were charged $3 extra for "truffle" fries (the charge was fine and we were informed of it when we ordered), however there was nothing truffle about it. They seemed to just sprinkle some dried seasonings on it with some Parmesan and call it "truffle" fries. If you look at the picture, there was hardly any seasoning and Parmesan either. So ultimately, it was just plain French fries. We had been planning on trying 2 or 3 dessert dishes too, but seeing how the main food tasted, we changed our minds. We really wanted to love this place, and it started off so promising with our server! Again, he was phenomenal and an absolute gem. Unfortunately, our dining experience was disappointing and literally a mess. Our server was very sweet, but we could immediately tell she was a new server at Virtue +Vice, or perhaps new to the industry, as her hands were quite shaky, and she wasn't too familiar with the menu. I ordered my usual cocktail, Tito's Cosmopolitan, and hubs ordered an Old Fashioned. Our server returned with our drinks, and as she placed my husband's drink on the table, the Cosmopolitan on her tray tipped, and the drink spilled right down the front of my cream-colored silk blouse. We knew our server felt bad and tried to clean it up, but instead, she ended up wiping whatever liquid was on the table right onto my lap (smh). Sadly, this alone set the tone for dinner, and we didn't have an enjoyable time at all. Oh, and to top it off, we were also charged for the spilled drink. We brought it to our server's attention, and it was removed. Regrettably, this entire experience left a bad taste in our mouths, and we haven't had the desire to return since. The dining area was empty and we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. It was a beautiful day out, so we opted for patio seating. The interior was neat and beautiful. The patio outside the restaurant was stunning, but we decided to sit towards the far back near the sidewalk. It was nicely set up! Our hostess was also our server. Super friendly and attentive. She gave us great drinks and food recommendations! We were visiting a few places for drinks and appetizers and this was our first stop. Our appetizers and cocktails were delicious! Avoid at all costs! I wish I could give this place zero stars. Our brunch at Virtue + Vice was an absolute disaster. I don't say this lightly, but this may have been the worst meal I've ever had. We were a group of four, and every single dish was a disappointment. Our friends ordered the eggs benedict and avocado toast, both of which were uninspired at best. The avocado toast was nothing more than store-bought bread with avocado slapped on top, lacking any seasoning or creativity. But the real disaster was the shakshuka my husband and I ordered. I don't know how this restaurant dares to serve something so poorly made. The shakshuka was essentially a can of tomato paste dumped onto a plate, with an egg cooked into it and a few bell peppers and cheese thrown in as an afterthought. There was no depth of flavor, no proper seasoning, and worst of all, it wasn't even cooked in the skillet like a shakshuka should be. It had clearly been assembled elsewhere and simply tossed into the iron skillet before serving. The texture was all wrong, the bottom wasn't crispy like a real shakshuka should be, and the acidity of the raw tomato paste was so overpowering that it left my lips burning. This was beyond lazy cooking and it was an insult to anyone expecting a well-prepared meal. If the kitchen can't be bothered to make a dish properly, then it shouldn't be on the menu at all. Your diners deserve a well-prepared meal. I will never be returning to this restaurant. Hard pass! read more

Forbidden Apple - well-balanced and delicious! Rumor Has It - It was fruity and punchy! So punchy I almost forgot it's name. We just had appetizers. Everything was plated nicely. Truffle fries - crispy with a nice truffle flavor. I love the dipping sauce. Burrata and Balsamic - this was also delicious with the heirloom tomatoes. It's served with bread slices and bruschetta too. Nargisi Kofta - Basically lamb kofte wrapped around hard boiled eggs. This was okay. The meat has a strong lamb flavor. I like the concept but I feel like this could be stepped up more. For desert: Creme Brûlée with apples and kiwi - this was kind of interesting. This is our favorite spot in downtown Danville for good food, chill vibes, and THE BEST espresso martinis. They have every flavor you can think of even though they're not on the menu. Flavors like pistachio, banana, strawberry, hazelnut, vanilla, etc. which are all so good. I love going with my girlfriends and ordering a tons of apps and each getting different martinis to all try and rate out favorites together. The Mac and cheese board is fire, Brussel sprouts are bomb, and the seasonal salads so delicious!!!! The entire indoors are full of candles and romantic vibes. The outdoor seating is our favorite though! The waiters and waitresses are all very knowledgeable about the menu and the owners are the sweetest people you'll ever meet. We both got the smash burger (mine with no bun) for $25 each and we both added bacon for an additional $6 each. The smash burger was more of a regular burger just thin. No crispy edges or anything for us to justify the price. The tater tots were amazing and worth the price. The service was okay. There were two tables occupied (we were one table) and a large party of 10 (ish) waiting for someone to arrive. The service was catering to the large party even though they were just standing around, only 4 people there and they were just having bar drinks . We were waiting a while for our order to be taken, teas, and bill. Food came out promptly once they finally took our order. This is the site of the former Peasant & the Pear. The interior remains pretty much the same with two separate dining rooms - one up front and the other, smaller dining room is in the rear. The menu is huge with a lot of Thai items along with lots of other choices from other cuisines. I worry a bit when I see a large array of items on a menu because I have to wonder how they can do such a large assortment and do them all equally good to excellent. We were a party of 5 on a Friday night. The place was not very busy so we had a wonderfully quiet dining room all to ourselves. What a luxury that was - not having to shout in order to be heard which is more the norm in most restaurants, even nice places. We were seated immediately and water and menus were provided immediately. The menu is varied with American, Thai and Indian items. I started with a very unique salad - WATERMELON SALAD, baby heirlooms, arugula, red onions, feta, champagne vinaigrette @ $16. I had GRILLED PORK CHOP, honey mustard peach glaze, mashed potatoes, veggies @ $34. I also had coffee and was nicely impressed that their standard coffee service was French Press that provided 2+ cups of excellent coffee. The Watermelon Salad was excellent! It was a fairly large serving - enough for me to take home almost half of it for another day. The dressing reminded me of a good Chinese Chicken Salad. The Pork Chop was also excellent. I asked our server if it had been brined before grilling or cooked by Sous Vide and finished on the grill. It was moist/tender and flavorful. The rest of the group had these items. One of them had the same as I in the Pork Chop and I can't remember what his wife had. THAI PANANG CURRY, coconut milk, kaffir lime, bell peppers, jasmine rice, peanuts. SPICY GRILLED SHRIMP SKEWERS, honey pepper glaze, sweet chili 24 ELOTE MAC, emmenthal + white cheddar, roasted sweet corn, tajin, breadcrumbs 17 Our server, Cara, was gorgeous but more importantly, she was very efficient and knew the menu and preparation of the various dishes. Where do I begin...first of all, the artistic detail of this restaurant is extraordinary. The entrees are listed on the menu titled Virtue with the drinks listed on the menu titled Vice. When dessert comes out, it's on a menu called Redemption. Quite clever if you ask me and it piqued my interest to see what other fun details I could find. The decor is stunning and the ambiance plays into more than just sight. The restaurant playlist is one of the best ones I've heard. The whiskey selection is impressive. If you are a whiskey enthusiast, don't hesitate to stop by. There is a beautiful outdoor patio that has a lovely water fountain. It adds an exquisite touch of nature in a refined way The food is incredible. You have unique options that normally are not presented in Danville. I ordered an avocado dish melted with cheese and matcha soufflé pancakes. It was an absolute brunch dream. For my beverage, I ordered a wake tf up (similar to an espresso martini) with hand blended pumpkin cold foam. The service was quick and friendly. It was ok, not sure if we will rush back Food Notes: Empanadas: 4 stars, beef, mint yoghurt, all good Beef Tikka: 4 stars, garlic yogurt, mint chutney (really mint yogurt) Black pepper calamari: 1 star, do not order! We send it back. They served prefrozen large calamari rings, like the size of onion rings. A restaurant like this should never serve such a low quality item. Spicy grilled shrimp skewers: 3 stars, not that spicy. If your going to put the word spicy on the menu, you need to bring the heat. Oreo Truffles (free) 5 stars.
