On the upside, I'm getting to eat out a lot more often. One absolute gem and place I would go to, almost every day if I could is Andaman Thai. I'm starting to become a regular and have been working through the menu with my sister and family. There are so many things that I would recommend, but the Pumpkin Curry is at the top. I have taken the pumpkin home twice now and baked it with the leftover curry inside. The fresh spring roll is delicious, the Tom Yum Noodle Soup - so soothing and flavorful, the tenderness of the Grilled Beef Salad or kick to the Tofu Salad. Stopped here for a quick lunch before doing some shopping, and I'm so glad we decided to give it a shot. Our waiter was so nice and let us know his recommendations. He was adamant that we try the tom yum fried rice. So we ordered the pad thai that I was craving and the rice. Everything was extremely delicious. The pad thai was just the right amount of sweet and saucy and the noodles were cooked just right. The rice was the star though. I didn't know fried rice could be that good. Absolutely delicious! I went here for my anniversary with my partner, and we both really enjoyed the food and drinks. We got the Yellow Curry and Pineapple Fried Rice for dinner and the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. The pineapple fried rice is served inside of an actual pineapple which I thought was so cool! I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken and beef, and it came out flawless. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the sauce was rich and balanced, and -- most importantly -- I didn't have to add a single thing. That's how you know it's good. The chicken and beef were cooked just right (not dry, not sad), and the vegetables were fresh and actually green -- not that mystery brown you sometimes get elsewhere. Then came the star of the show: the Tom Kha Soup (spicy, with chicken). First of all... when they say spicy, they mean it. No fake "Thai spicy" here. This soup was savory, bold, and absolutely nailed it. Hands down one of the best Tom Kha soups I've ever had. And as a meat eater, I was impressed -- they didn't skimp at all. The bowl was loaded with perfectly cooked chicken thigh, tender and flavorful. This soup alone is a reason to come back. The ambiance was inviting, and the decor was beautiful, giving the place a warm, authentic vibe that made the experience even better. I just went in really quickly, but I've been here before and the food is amazing. I've been to the one in San Ramon and I've eaten at this one too gotten the curry and the rice and the Thai tea and it's always so good. The service is really nice and it has a great ambience. It was really crowded at lunchtime. The only bad thing is the parking lot you have to pay for parking and I think that stinks but that is not the fault of the restaurant. I highly recommend it. We've always done takeout. I've never eaten inside, but it looks like it would be a nice place to eat inside too. read more

We arrived a little before 12:15 pm and were seated right away. Loved how the menus were photo books. I had pad see ew with tofu (lunch portion) and my friend had the basil chicken. Portions were generous. Service was friendly and efficient. Only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars was the noise. I would love to try more items but I may be more inclined to do take out. I understand we were a large group and had a "server" that was dedicated to our table but the other server who was not assigned to our table did not have to be pissy and ignore our request and say, "IM NOT YOUR SERVER" Ambiance is cute but I don't know if I will come back after the bad customer service. I've been looking for a solid Thai place in Walnut Creek, and I finally found one! I had lunch at Andaman Thai with a couple of friends who are also major Thai food fans. We ordered our usual - Thai iced tea, pad Thai, and green curry - and we decided to also try the crispy rice salad. Our food was brought out quickly, and the servings were the perfect sharing size. The pad Thai and green curry hit the spot, and I especially liked that the green curry also included broccoli, green beans, and mini corn (in addition to the typical vegetables). The crispy rice salad was the most intriguing - the rice was indeed crispy and came mixed with peanuts, onion, and bits of pork. I wasn't a fan of the pork - I kept getting fatty pieces - but the texture and flavor of the rice (vinegar and chili) was delicious and almost reminded me of Filipino flavors. We finished our meal with sweet and refreshing mango sticky rice - another great option for sharing. We were able to get a table without a reservation, but larger party sizes will likely need to book ahead. Also, our servers were friendly and took good care of us. Recently dined here with some friends who live in the East Bay. We were looking for a Thai restaurant in Walnut Creek but away from the main downtown due to limited parking. We found Andaman on Yelp that fit the bill - great reviews and a private metered parking lot ($3.50/hr) in a shared strip mall....just 1-2 blocks away from downtown downtown. A few folks at the dinner had never had Thai before so this was a great first experience and impression for them. They loved it! For appetizers, we ordered chicken and beef satay skewers. Each order comes with 5 and is accompanied with a peanut dipping sauce and some pickled veggies. The skewers were flavorful and not dry. They taste tasted great with the peanut sauce dipping sauce. We also ordered their roti and curry. Delicious flaky flatbread served with a yellow curry sauce. It came with about 8 pieces. It was so good that I wanted to order another one but we had so much food coming. We ordered the following dishes: -pad see ew with tofu - deliciously eggy and served with pieces of Chinese broccoli and fried tofu cubes -yellow curry - not too spicy and was served with a generous amount of chicken thighs and potatoes -pineapple fried rice - always a hit and served in a half pineapple -garlic chicken - the garlic pepper sauce over stir-fried chicken had so much flavor! -cashew nut chicken (I know this is more of a Chinese dish but Andaman's take on it was great. This was a "familiar" dish to our guests) The dishes are served on very large round plates so if you are ordering many dishes, family style, you may run out of real estate on the tables like we did. We had to play a bit of Tetris with the plates to make them all fit but it wasn't a big issue as we were finishing up the dishes quickly. Friendly and attentive service!
