There were many to choose from, and I'm so glad I overheard the other customers ahead of us saying that the vanilla salted almond toffee flavor was what they are known for. We ended up getting that flavor as one of our two. For our second flavor of two scoops, we ended up getting the marshmallow neapolitan. -Vanilla salted almond toffee: I can see what the other customers meant for "this is what they're known for." I love that the almond is candied/carmelized with toffee. It gives it a roasty flavor, which gives the flavor so much depth. The almond also gives a bit of crunch/texture, which makes this flavor so unique. -Marshmallow neapolitan: I'm not typically someone who likes marshmallows or goes for neapolitan, as I don't like super sweet and I don't like mixing flavors. You can definitely taste all 3 flavors--vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. The marshmallow doesn't make the ice cream as sweet as I would have thought, it really just adds the marshmallow texture. The ice cream is very thick and creamy. It doesn't melt too fast to meld all the flavors together (which I don't really like), and I really appreciate that the ice cream holds together so well! It's ice cream that's creamy so what's not to like. I liked the fact they have both mini double and double so if you don't have a big appetite you can order mini double for two flavors. I sampled both the orange blossom honey and milk tea + biscuits, and while I enjoyed both, I really enjoyed the tea flavor in the milk tea + biscuits as well as the crumbly texture of the biscuits so I decided to go for that one. Inside we were instantly greeted by two smiling faces of a couple young ladies one who is very new and another young lady, and I got their names in for the life of me. I can't find the piece of paper I wrote them on. But they were so customer service oriented. Engage the owner a little bit while he passed through the room and told him that I really like the fact that he not only has an extra strategic imperative of having quality locally sourced pure products to add to his ice cream. The differences when you eat the ice cream, there's a silkiness to it and a high level of flavors that is comfortable in your mouth and reminiscent of all the old days. Samples were offered and gladly taken, and we had a selection of many flavors that we didn't normally get to have at home. They were very happy to let us sample and package up what we wanted as well as adding a couple cones to eat then and there. The young ladies were very accommodating. After leaving with her take home ice cream for later we thought about the experience and realized that we had perfect customer service from door-to-door coming and going. Surprisingly the candied kumquat had the best flavor and texture. It was very dense and creamy. The kumquat had a very nice citrus flavor. Very intense citrus flavor. The tartness of the kumquat partnered very well with the sweetness candied fruit. This is why I like Lotti's. They always have special flavors that you can't find anywhere else. I love their ever changing rotating menu of fun and yummy flavors! I have so many flavors that I personally love. I recently visited Lottie's in Walnut Creek with a group of friends. The ice cream was great. No complaints there. But our interaction with one staff member left us uncomfortable, and the manager's follow-up made it worse. The person who helped us seemed disoriented. He mixed up flavor samples, forgot what he had given us, and gave one of my friends a full double scoop instead of the half-and-half she asked for. The response I got was bizarre. Instead of acknowledging the concern, the manager went on about how much heart this employee brings and how the team is proud of its diversity. That's not the point. I wasn't criticizing someone's background. I was pointing out odd behavior that made paying customers feel uncomfortable. I had taken the time to write something thoughtful. What I got back felt like a canned statement that avoided the issue entirely. That tells me they weren't really listening. The ice cream is good, but leadership matters. When a place refuses to engage with respectful feedback, it reflects poor judgment. We won't be in a hurry to return. read more
