We finally checked out Rasa Thai, and I'm so glad we did! The ambiance is clean and welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Most importantly, everything we ordered was delicious--not overly sweet and packed with flavor! We ordered from the lunch special menu. I had the Chicken Pad Kee Mao and Satay Chicken. It's been a while since I've had a Pad Kee Mao this delicious! My wife had the Chicken Garlic Green Beans and Tropical Shrimp Sticks, and both were fantastic. For starters, we tried the Sunset Crispy Wings--super crispy and perfectly seasoned! The BBQ Pork was tender and delicious as well. And we couldn't skip dessert! The Fresh Mango Sticky Rice was the perfect ending. The mango was fresh and sweet, while the sticky rice was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Overall, Rasa Thai is a 10/10 for me! There was only one waitstaff, but he was friendly and tended to all the tables, keeping our water glasses full throughout the meal. What really stood out was the owner, who also appears to be the chef, coming out personally to check on how we were enjoying the food. That kind of care is rare and made the experience feel truly special. No wait for seating, and the food arrived quickly. The atmosphere is casual and cozy with an island flair. Think palm trees, a sunset beach theme, and a calm noise level that lets you actually have a conversation. We ordered several things to share but nothing really stood out as a hit dish. I've had Thai many, many times and know good Thai when I come across it. My friend and I drove to Rasa Thai after reading their glowing reviews, and I now understand why the place has such good reviews. Their chicken Pad Thai lunch special came with my choice of chicken satay, authentic peanut sauce and cucumber salad -- so worth the drive and the price! Yummm! I also ordered a bowl of the chicken coconut soup - it wasn't only delicious - the serving was generous, too! This soup alone would have satisfied my big craving for Thai food but I also got their chicken wings appetizer with their secret sauce (a hint of sweetness, garlic, tamarind and chili) perfect to dip their crunchiest chicken wings! My friend also loved her shrimp yellow curry lunch special that came with 2 pcs of shrimp egg rolls. I ate my leftover for dinner and I have enough food for lunch, and maybe dinner tomorrow. We got the Pad Thai w/ Shrimp, Pad Ka Pow w/ Ground Pork, and the *Green Curry w/ Chicken (my wife's favorite) - all Medium level spice (we expected spicier, but the heat was there!). The restaurant looks small in the outside but is is deep and roomy on the inside. The bright color tables and chairs help the inside decor shine. Service was quick and attentative. As I came here for a dinner party with Abbess and the nuns from a monastery, everything was strictly vegetarian. The food was really good even though it was mainly tofu as the protein. Came here on Mother's Day and had a pretty bad service experience. Got seated immediately and was told there was a 20 minute wait for the food since they were busy. That's fine with us, but nobody gave us a menu and after 10 minutes I had to go up myself. Another 20 minutes go by without anybody taking our order. We did finally get our food after 50 minutes total wait. We had to ask for things multiple times before getting anything. Service: 2 stars Food: 3.5 stars. Rasa Thai is a charming little place with I would say is pretty much standard menu for a Thai Place. Nothing inventive here just traditional Thai dishes Americans are used to like Pad Thai, pad see ew, chicken Satay, etc. They execute these standard dishes fairly well. I was a bit disappointed though they couldn't execute my favorite dish, a stir-fry mixed seafood. This dish would have several seafood like green mussels, calamari, prawns and perhaps scallops in fiery Thai chili sauce with mixed vegetables and fresh pepper corns. When I asked about it, however, they said they could only do a combo chicken and shrimp. I was confused as they do have baked mussels on the menu, so I am sure they could have added mussels to the dish. Nevertheless, what I had was tasty, just not what I really wanted. Thai restaurants are ubiquitous in the Bay Area, so there are many others like this one serving standard Thai dishes. The lack of inventive or special dishes here means there is no motivation for me to come back. read more

The food was delightful! We ordered curry, fried rice, roti, pad thai, and the grilled ribeye...with mango sticky rice for dessert. Everything was incredible, the ribeye was perfectly cooked and the mango was peefectly ripe. Also had their thai tea, it was really tasty! The restaurant was hot inside when we got there, not sure if they have AC and chose not to use it or if they don't have it, but it was uncomfortable till the sun went down...also had the sun in our eyes for that time frame, would recommend a curtain for the front door! The service was good, but a bit slow. I'm not sure if they have the staff to handle a lot of traffic, but I'm sure they are working through that since they only just opened a couple of weeks ago. This was our first time trying Rasa Thai. It is in a slightly out of the way location at the intersection of Gregory Lane and Pleasant Hill Road and tgeyvare waiting for their official sign. So it is a little hard to find, but it is worth looking for. The service was great, the place was light and airy with a hand painted mural on one wall. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The portion sizes were bigger than I expected and the amount of protein was very generous. We got vegetarian spring rolls, Green Papaya Salad, Pad Thai, Pad see Yoo and Thai Iced Tea. Everything was delicious. I have been searching for a Thai restaurant that makes a good Papaya salad and Rasa's exceeded my expectations expectations.
