Plearn is officially out for our family. They have cut their portion sizes to offensively small Amounts. This chicken dish was $19 and it was probably 1 chicken breast. Bummer as a long time customer - won't be back.

Plearn Thai restaurant is a wonderful place if you want good friendly service and home cook Thai food. They been around for a long time. Depending on when you arrive, street parking can be difficult. However if you park at one of the near by garages, it's an easy walk to Plearn. Especially after you eat dinner. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and spacious. We arrive during lunch on a Saturday and was seated immediately. We ordered the traditional Pad Thai Chicken noodle, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Chicken Bbq Satay. They were delicious. Portions were plenty for two people. Chicken Satay was tender along with the peanut sauce. The Ice Coffee was also our favorite and made perfectly. Overall, we will return to try out the many other dishes like the Tom Tom dish.

Visiting my friends and we decided to check this spot out for NYE. We arrived at 715pm and we were seated right away. Love that it's a "hole-in-the-wall" spot...it usually always mean the food is good and speaks for itself. My friends ordered the panang and pineapple fried rice. The panang was flavorful and perfect for the colder temps outside. The pineapple fried rice was a nice big portion, and you can tell it was made fresh to order (nice big pieces of the protein and veggies that were clearly tossed in together to cook (rather than just something pre-made with small pieces sitting in a pot)). They both enjoyed their meals fully. I ordered the spring rolls for us all to share and pat-siu. I love that the spring rolls were smaller pieces. The rolls were super crispy and jam packed with filling. So good. It was interesting to have the dipping sauce be a type of honey. The pat-siu was ok. I felt like the noodles were super oily and stuck together, and there weren't very many veggies even though I asked for extra broccoli to be added to the dish. The tofu was cooked well and I appreciated they were cut into smaller pieces so they were more fully cooked as I prefer. We ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert. I've never had it with the purple rice before so that was fun. The rice was nice and warm and the mango was fresh and ripe. Devoured every bite. The staff was extremely friendly and I think the owner even delivered food for us at one point and they were so kind and funny joking with us. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're in the area and you enjoy Thai food.

It was 8:15 and everything in Walnut Creek closes at 9pm. I was craving Green Curry. We were hungry and just picked this place because they were open. I've tried many of the Thai places all around the WC area and have yet to find one I really like, until now. All the food is fresh and very well made. The rice was perfect and flavorful. The ambiance and vibe of the overall restaurant was warm, welcoming, and very clean. It is not casual dining but is casual in style. It was late and the owner took our order. He is a really nice guy. As for the green curry I wanted so much, the steamy coconutty spicy rich chickeny broth with just a bit of heat was perfect. The only thing I would change is to eliminate the green beans but that's purely my taste. My partner had the PatHed, which he loved. Will we return? Absolutely, and I hope soon! I am advocating for family owned restaurants everywhere when I ask diners to get up and go out to any of the local family owned restaurants instead of using those delivery services. Those services charge the customers many fees and then also charge the restaurants about 25%. They are killing these wonderful places. Never forget how much we wanted the shutdown to end, why are we still eating on our couches? Get out one night soon and try out Plearn Thai Palace if you want fresh homemade Thai food that will leave you feeling like your taste buds and tummy are thanking you.

NASA asked me to create meals for the space shuttle. Thai chicken was the favorite. I flew in a fake space shuttle, but I have no desire to go into space after seeing the toilet -- Rachael Ray One doesn't need to go to outer space to find good Thai food with great service. Right here in Walnut Creek is Plearn, and yes the toilets are nice too ;-) Met two of my former employees for lunch and we were very impressed. Food was solid. I enjoyed the roti and basil fried rice, one of my lunch partners raved about his soup. What really elevated this meal was the kind and humorous service. They really love serving customers here. Located next to Prima Vini Wine if you need some vino. Highly recommended!

Amazing service! The inside decor is quaint and inviting. My water was always filled up on such a hot day! This is my second time coming here and this little gem of a restaurant is so good! Green curry (kang) (5/5) the consistency is thick and so delicious! Tom Kha (4/5) its just so good and its alot for just one person to eat! All these dishes were absolutely delicious. Every bite was an epicurean delight! We would definitely order them . again! (I forgot to take a picture of each dish when delivered to the table because we wanted to start eating! ) PO-PIAH-TOD : we asked for fresh Spring Roll instead of deep fried. The dipping sauces were a peanut sauce and a fish sauce . Both were so delicious! The fresh spring rolls were filled with slivered carrots, cabbage, taro, fresh shrimp, and bean thread noodles. KANG - KEOW - WAN: Ground pork simmered in green curry with coconut milk, green beans , zucchini, bell peppers, bamboo and sweet basil. Not spicy! MA-KUER-PAD : Eggplant panfried with ground pork, sweet basil, tomato, onion, zucchini, bell pepper, green chili and special Thai seasonings. YUM-PLA-MUK : Fresh calamari seasoned with spices sauce, red onions, green onions, ginger, tomato, cilantro and fresh mint leaves Steamed Jasmine Rice

I wasn't going to argue with the restaurant's policy despite it being almost empty. I was mostly dismayed and taken aback how curt the young hostess with the eyebrow piercing was towards us. It's not the message, but how it's delivered! Thankfully our waitress Pam was a breath of fresh air. She checked on our party regularly. She was patient as our large party tried to figure out our orders. She ensured all our food and drinks arrived as ordered. Our meals were tasty, but portions were on the smaller size. We enjoyed the roti with 3 different curry sauce. Volcanic beef was delicious. I enjoyed the Pad Thai so much that I ordered an extra to go. We all loved the mango lover dessert. You can skip the tom yum paella since the portion was extremely small.

There was a slight mishap this time though I made the reservation about three days before Valentine's Day and received a confirmation text. Then the day before Valentine's Day, I got another text saying my reservation was canceled, which definitely threw me off. Thankfully, I called the restaurant and they were able to get everything situated and reinstate my reservation. That was a relief. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess who asked if we had a reservation and then directed us to our table. I really liked our table location it felt comfortable and perfect for a date night. The ambience of the restaurant was nice and set the tone for a great evening. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. For drinks, I got a Summer Breeze and my girl had the Tai Chi. For appetizers, we ordered the Lady Fingers which I never had before but were really good. For our main dishes, we had the pineapple fried rice, cashew chicken, and Pad See Ew. I stepped out of my food comfort zone with the cashew chicken and Pad See Ew, but I made the right decision because both dishes were delicious. One unexpected kicker was that they boxed up our leftovers for us, which was a really nice touch and something I appreciated. Overall, this was a great Valentine's Day experience. The ambience was nice, the food was good, and the service was solid. I'd rate my experience a 10 out of 10 and will definitely be back.

We got the mango curry and rice, garlic noodles, tea leaf salad and samosa soup. The main curry came first but it didn't come with the rice. It sat there and got cold for 10 mins before the rice came. The appetizers came only in the end. The hostess was short and she just seemed busy. I understand. The waitress was nice enough but was absent during most of our meal. She seemed to be waiting many tables. However she told my 7 yo she'll get ice cream after dinner 3 different times, which was sort of uncalled for. Then my kid decided she wanted it (because which kid says no to ice cream!) And we were forced to buy it. Why keep mentioning it to a kid if you can't afford to just give it. That's a really shallow form of selling things and I don't know if the waitress intended it but we were pretty pissed that she forced us to eat and pay for ice cream.

The balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and savory was spot on. The Pad Thai was one of the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked noodles with just the right amount of tang and richness. The Tom Yum soup was incredibly flavorful, with a deep, aromatic broth that had the perfect kick of spice. We also ordered a curry dish that was rich, creamy, and full of depth--easily a standout.
