Garlic soy chicken sandwich and tomato soup special
Ian A.

We love this intimate restaurant in Moraga. Their fried chicken options are so flavorful and delicious. I particularly like the more subtle flavor of the garlic soy glaze but the caramel fish sauce glaze gives you a stronger, sweet flavor. The sandwich is a solid option served on a perfectly toasted challah bun from a local bakery. If you order the rice plate you get a scoop of sushi rice topped with furikake, your choice of vegetable side which could be one of two coleslaws but the real pièce de résistance is their Hawaiian style potato Mac salad. Great tots or cucumber side dishes, a large bowl of tomato soup loaded with veggies like a minestrone, and a delicious Drakes FU Cancer golden ale on draft. Closes a bit earlier than you'd expect on the weekends but the staff have lives too, just plan your delicious meal accordingly.

Great food & AMAZING service. I walked in 2 minutes past closing and he insisted on making me my food. Thank you!!!

I've loved what these folks produce since I frequented Noodle Theory in Rockridge, an earlier venture of theirs. Lou's Chicken Shop has the warm, friendly vibes I've come to expect from patronizing the family's other restaurants. The Buttermilk chicken salad and garlicky smashed cucumbers are consistently craveable. The kids karaage won my daughter over immediately. As you might expect, the chicken is the star of the show here and it's tasty, juicy, and full of flavor. So far we've only done take out but I'm hoping to dine in soon and take advantage of their sunny outdoor seating. I don't live near Moraga but I gladly make the trek to Lou's Chicken Shop and encourage anyone in the area who loves good food to do the same!

To go buttermilk chicken sandwich The taste of the sandwich is really nice. I love the cabbage and pickled onion combo on the chicken. The chicken itself is also very well seasoned and toasted bun is good. Very filling and very high quality.

Such a fantastic find! I came because of the reviews and it did not disappoint! I'm a chicken lover and whenever I crave for flavorful crispy chicken cooked the way I want it, many places I've been to failed to deliver. But I just found a fave spot! One bite of their caramel fish sauce chicken I knew I'm hooked! It's so flavorful that having it for lunch the next day was still so satisfying! It's a clean place, not too busy when we were there. Service was prompt and friendly. I'll be back.

Caramel Fish Sauce Chicken Salad and Yuzu Limemade. Delish!

I work in Moraga only 5 times per year and I have to stop at Lou's for lunch every single time because it's that good. Incredible flavors and the chicken is always moist and delicious. Highly recommend. I usually get the Caramel Fish Sauce Chicken Salad and it never disappoints!

We were excited to try this place hoping the garlic soy chicken would be similar to the garlic chicken we had in Hawaii. We ordered the garlic soy chicken and buttermilk chicken to go. Both came with mac salad and greens with dressing. The garlic chicken had a decent batter but I honestly couldn't taste much garlic and it lacked flavor for me. The mac salad was pretty bland too and needed at least some salt. My daughter liked her buttermilk chicken but I would imagine it needing a dipping sauce. Good thing she doesn't like sauce so it was fine for her. Overall I was left underwhelmed as the food lacked seasoning for me.

So glad to have a tasty option in Moraga! Lou's took over the old Noodle Theory spot and serve delicious chicken sandwiches. I came here for the plate lunches, which brings some Hawaiian vibes to the area. The chicken was flavorful and delicious. Even though we got it for takeout it traveled well and maintained its crispiness. They're coming up with new things every day and have yummy sides too. Tater tots on the menu is never a bad thing. Help support these guys in Moraga! We have a severe dearth of tasty options - unless we go to Lafayette or Temescal - and could use places like Lou's.

My personal favorites were the mango sago and the pork adobo. I grabbed a bunch of onigiris to go and we even ordered more food to go. By the time I got to the bingsu I barely had room I was so full. Same owners as Yifang, Super nice couple. Everything was clean. We carried my baby's stroller up the stairs when we got there and they told us about the side ramp so we didn't have to carry him out again which was considerate and thoughtful . Which I would of gotten that instead because that tasted better than what I got If you order that maybe eat it there because has no flavor and not sure if they have ice in it but it's just taste like a watered down mess! I thought it had condensed milk or something else. Probably would have tasted better if I ate it there and did not melt. There was no taro paste tho either. So I took away two stars but the sago was really good. Service staff seemed friendly when we asked questions. The picture looked like there was some kinda milk of something mixed with the bowl but it's just ice. Kinda misleading. The drinks look good and the sago is good but I don't think I'll be buying the bowl again.

I would recommend ordering at least a week in advance for sushi platters.

It came undressed and without dressing and had to go back to ask them for a side of dressing which took a little of time too since I was ignored when I approached the people working. Salad sucked. They also advertise homemade ranch but I think the only homemade thing about it is blending a hidden ranch valley packet. Wings were not too bad and were crispy and served hot.
