Omg, what I just ate! Yummy! I ordered the fake chicken sandwich and fries. The fries are not at all greasy, perfectly tender and not super crunchy as I normally prefer. It looks handcut as I can see the potato skins. The fries reminded me a lot of Macdonald's fries (without the skin), I am giving Mac's reference to give the sense how good the fries are. I guess almost everyone agrees MacD knows how to fry potatoes. Very nice. The fake chicken sandwich comes with a patty made from tofu, coleslaw and side chips. We placed an order to go and got the following - Fried Chicken Sandwich - $11. The fried chicken on the sandwich was really good. There was great flavor to it. The sandwich had spicy slaw and mayo inside, and personally, it was too much mayo for me. The husband really liked it though, but mentioned that the slaw was one-note, a bit too drowned by the mayo. Flipped Chicken Entree - $13. LOL, can probably buy a whole rotisserie chicken for much cheaper elsewhere, but this chicken was really good. It came with a sweet buttermilk biscuit that was delicious. It was so rich. It also came with a cucumber tomato salad something that was like herbs in oil for dipping or pouring over the chicken or something. Chicken Strips - $9. We had serious issues with the Local Kitchen app/website. It would not accept my phone number. After 30 minutes of trying, I find out from Michele at the localfoodgroup.com that their website doesn't accept orders from VoIP carriers! I had to call my best friend to order my food from his cellphone! Proposition Chicken: Please find an easier way for people to order your food. I don't have this problem with Door Dash, Uber Eats or any other food app. I went and picked up my three orders. I ordered two fried chicken entrees and one rotisserie chicken entree and it totaled 46.45. Since it's Yelp Elite Week, I received 20 dollars off and a small gift (see pic). The fried chicken was ridiculously crunchy. It was the crunchiest fried chicken I ever had yet was very light. The cucumber tomato salad was a good size and the biscuit was like eating cake. It came with a spicy ranch sauce that made the drier parts of the fried chicken more moist and flavorful. Of all three pieces (thigh, breast and leg), the breast was dry inside but the rest moist. Flavor was good. I was able to eat all of it despite being a light eater. We haven't tried their rotisserie chicken and will have that tomorrow for lunch. Local Kitchens get customer data and a small cut of profit as well. In other words you could open a restaurant without having any physical location and staff with just recipes that you've curated and have the chefs at Local Kitchens preparing. Crazy. Anyway, I ordered the fried chicken. My wife had the chicken salad. Both were prepared exquisitely and emerged with military precision. The chicken came with a really nice spicy chipotle sauce for dipping, a very fresh tomato salad and a cornbread muffin. The chicken was the star of the show. Crispy, light golden brown with a really nice batter coating. I added honey on mine from my pantry which topped it off perfectly with just the right amount of sweetness. Came to this location thinking it was a standalone shop, but surprised to find out there were other restaurants at this hub. Lots of cuisines to pick from. The chicken here is well flavored and the portions are HUGE so the value is here. The chicken itself was juicy, however the batter itself was almost over the top. The most fried batter I have ever encountered with fried chicken. The pieces are big but the batter itself accounted for about 1/3 of the dish - if you like eating pure fried batter then this is your place. It has a nice setup where an electronic board shows the name and how long the wait is for pick up. The website made it super easy for ordering food from multiple places located at local kitchens. So when you can't make a decision, this makes it easy since there's multiple cuisine options to choose from. I'm glad there's also a parking lot which makes it easy to come in and pick up. Decided to try this after it was recommended by a coworker. I've only just recently started incorporating chicken back into my diet after being a vegetarian for several years, so I'm definitely not a chicken connoisseur by any means. I ordered the *real* fried chicken sandwich. That being said, I love that Proposition Chicken has vegetarian options. To me the sandwich was delicious! Great breading to chicken ratio, and the chicken was fully cooked (believe me, I checked before biting into it). It was not dry. I didn't taste a lot of seasoning in the breading but the salt level was perfect. I ordered fries as well, and slathered the yummy mayonnaise from the fries onto the sandwich. That definitely amped things up. I have no complaints on the fries. The one thing I think could have been better about this sandwich was the bread. I liken the roll to the same kind of cheap roll I could buy at a grocery store. I think fresh-baked and different bread options would be really cool - let's see some sourdough, whole wheat, French roll, sweet roll, I don't know. For me the bread is really important and I think it was sort of lacking here. I can't really speak to the service since we ordered this through DoorDash. My only comment is it took over an hour to receive our food - our poor Dasher texted us from the restaurant apologizing that he was still waiting at the restaurant for our food (obviously not his fault). I usually get the chicken sandwich or tenders, and recently tried the salad. Earlier on, the fried chicken can be pretty dry sometimes, but it's gotten more consistent. Theirs is less of a junk food fried chicken because they are never too greasy or salty, and it's really crunchy. For the sides, I think the fries are ok and there could be more celery sticks and carrots for the chicken tenders. The salad is pretty good, definitely not skimping on the fried chicken, but also not a whole lot of greens as you'd expect from an entree salad. So it's healthier and more refreshing, but it's not health food or gourmet salad. It's good fried chicken with side salad. The Parmesan cheese dressing is surprisingly not overpowering and binds all the flavors together. Good to have this option! I decided to give Local Kitchens a second chance - this time picking up the food - as I like the idea of of the SF restaurants together, in a closer location. It's easy to place an order online or at the location, and there's a video board providing status updates on everyone's orders. My family ordered the Fried Chicken Entree and Hand-Cut Fries. I wouldn't change the fried chicken, as my family was happy with it. The chicken had a fairly thick crust, was nice & crispy, and the meat was juicy. For those that like their fried chicken well seasoned, I ground some pepper and added a little salt, and it was seasoned perfectly, for me. Optionally, doctor it up with hot sauce or chili pepper, to taste. Obviously the seasoning or chef could change, so taste before you season. The fries were well seasoned, but I'd like them fried a little more crispy. Overall the food was very good, and hopefully they've fixed any DoorDash issues. I don't generally leave restaurant reviews, but wanted to share my feedback for this restaurant since the regular Prop Chicken is one of my fave lunch & dinner stops. The main thing to keep in mind is that this is a shared space called "Local Kitchens" with a handful of restaurants sharing a single kitchen. It is a cool concept and a great way to bring popular restaurants to otherwise suburban/sparse food choice areas. Unfortunately, the food fell far short of the quality that the standalone restaurant provides. I used to live in Oakland and ordered Prop Chicken multiple times a week - their salads are the bomb (flipped and fried!) and always hit the spot. Having moved, we had a craving for our fave salad and decided to take a drive to Prop Chicken. Searching Yelp, I found this closer Lafayette location and quickly changed my GPS from Oakland to shave 15 mins off the trip. Came upon the Local Kitchens shop and was greeted by friendly staff and easily placed an order on the iPad. Food was prepared quickly. I was impressed that one Chef can create the full menu from so many restaurants in a small kitchen. The salads were just "meh". The dressing was not premixed like the regular restaurant, and the amount provided was about half of what they usually mix in. That's okay - I'll consider it healthier. The most disappointing part was that the chicken in my flipped salad tasted kinda old and not nearly as fresh and tasty as the regular restaurant. Just seemed like an overpriced basic salad. I will say that the fries were on point and tasted great. I was debating between two and three stars here, but if this was my first time visiting Prop Chicken, I wouldn't be going back based upon the food I received. Hopefully they can work out the kinks, but in the meantime, stick to the standalone Prop Chicken locations if you want to try the real thing. read more

Fried chicken can be a hit or a miss, and Proposition Chicken is definitely the former. I ordered the fried chicken entree, which comes with 3 pieces of chicken - thigh, drumstick, and half breast - and a biscuit and side salad. The coating of the chicken was crisp and flavored with herbs, and the meat was tender and juicy. Most importantly, it wasn't overly greasy. The meal came with a dipping sauce on the side, which tasted like a cross between ranch dressing and wing sauce. The biscuit was dense and sweet, and it paired nicely with the saltiness of the chicken. As a balance to the richness of the meal, the side salad was super refreshing. I ordered for delivery, and the food arrived fresh and still hot. The only improvement that comes to mind is to include the option of choosing which sides accompany the chicken entree; however, I understand the logistical complexities this poses to a takeout-only restaurant. So I have been very excited to try this place since I saw there was one on Lafayette. I read the website and couldn't believe it. Gluten free fried chicken?! And it delivers to my work? Yay! Not so. There is not option on any of the ordering services to choose gluten free or to write it in as a special request. So I thought I would call to ask how I can ensure gluten free food. The message I got was lengthy and seemed to be trying to deter callers. I left what I think was a voicemail (?) and sent two text messages to the same number as they suggested. I never heard back. I was excited to try this place given the amazing reviews. The ordering and pickup was a breeze. But opening the package at home, the food didn't look anything like these pictures. The chicken was fried to the point of being not crisp but crunchy. It was a very unappetizing dark brown color. The taste was as expected by the looks of it, burnt. None of the crispy, flaky exterior in these pictures. Instead a dark brown smooth crust that broke away in large pieces when I bit into it. The biscuit was okay but they didn't include honey as shown in an image. The sauce was okay but not great. I ordered and paid for extra sauce and it wasn't included. UPDATE - after my review of my first meal the manager contacted me crediting my meal and asking me to try again. He apologized saying my experience was not in keeping with their standards.
