So what better place to dine in to celebrate out 2nd Year Wedding Anniversary at The Hideout Kitchen :) We went for dinner. Our server was KEVIN. Simply...HE IS JUST AWESOME. He knows the menu, he knows the history, and has amazing stories to share with everyone. Great guy. A lot of people there that night seemed to be celebrating something. The noise was a bit loud that I felt I had to almost yell to have a conversation with my husband. But the vibe was great. I enjoyed looking around at the decor. We ordered: - TRUFFLE FRIES for appetizers - I loved everything about it. haha. Tastey! - linguine & clams - I ordered this. It was good. However, I felt it was way oily. And after every bite I took, I had to wipe my mouth. And I accidentally spilled oil on my shirt. - PASTA ALLA CARBONE with steak - My husband enjoyed it and started to get full towards clearing out his bowl haha. - SCALLOPED POTATOES - I ordered a side of this. Definitely was not expecting to look the way it did, but I thought the presentation was beautiful. It was good; however, I was not a fan at how crunchy and hard the top first layer was. In a few areas, it was almost burnt. But I thought it was pretty good without the need for a type of sauce on the side. - For drinks, I had to Summer sangria and my husband had the Rumble in the Jungle. We enjoyed it. Definitely hit the spot. No complaints at all about these drinks. - And Kevin surprised us with a dessert to celebrate : Cranberry Bread Pudding. This was delicious. Very flavorful. I am not really into Cranberry, but this is definitely an exception. Loved the fruits on the side as well. The Hideout Kitchen will always have a place in our hearts. We will definitely come back. We still need to try this place out for Brunch. We need to try their UBE pancakes! hehehe. And thanks Kevin for being amazing that night!

The restaurant has a stylish "luxe-meets-rustic" aesthetic, with warm lighting, wood accents, and cozy seating that makes the place feel welcoming and relaxed. Our server was also very friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. For brunch, we ordered the Pulled Pork Silog, Fried Chicken & Waffles, and Kids Ube Pancake. Pulled Pork Silog - Delicious! The flavor was spot-on, and the pulled pork was really tasty. My only issue was the fried rice--it felt slightly undercooked, as I could still barely feel the individual rice grains. Fried Chicken & Waffles - Crispy and good! The chicken had a nice crunch and paired well with the waffles. Kids Ube Pancake - Delicious and, most importantly, not too sweet! The sweetness was just right, and our daughter loved it so much she finished the whole thing. That's always a good sign! Overall, we enjoyed our brunch and our little Lafayette adventure. It was nice discovering a quieter side of the Bay Area, and finally putting that gift card to good use!

I would've liked more Pepper jack cheese however. My side of Desperado fries also tasted delicious and its red bell pepper gave the sauce an extra tang. My Nutty Buddy milkshake was also well-prepared and was amazed to discover it contained actual peanut butter. Plus, at $9.95, the beverage is very reasonably priced for two-glasses worth (about 32oz in total.) My only recommendation to management is to serve the drink in a pre-frigerated sundae glass along with the metal cup to keep it extra cold. This was my first time dining indoors and I really admired the restaurant's interior. The rustic-style wooden tables, the elegant booth-seating upholstery and the wooden designs overhead the bar counter. The food is also served in metal plates to mimic the old-western vibe of the Gold Rush era. Although I personally dislike live television being played inside bars and restaurants, this norm did not disturb my overall dining experience as the TV sets were mounted up on the wall just underneath the ceiling with a relatively low volume.

Everything was great except the chicken needed a bit more seasoning and was really tough on the thinner ends . It could have used more even pounding before cooking. The waffle, though, was delicious. My friend got the Western scramble and was practically savoring every bite from the start. The bacon jam was fantastic. Service on the mimosas was a little slow, but our server was clearly busy. Overall, we had a great time and would come back.

My family and I ended up here randomly today (Saturday) after doing a yelp search for lunch. We arrived and it was BUSYYYY, but the wait time was said to be 11-20 minutes. So we decided to wait. Wait time ended up being OVER 30 minutes, but IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. We almost decided to just walk right over to Kinders, after waiting 30 minutes. But we thought "wth, we've waited this long, let's just wait a bit longer". Finally after almost 40 minutes, we were seated inside. There is no patio seating here and the venue is really small. I wouldn't recommend for groups over 4-5 at the pleasant hill location unless you call to make a reservation in advanced. Though I'm not sure if they take reservations. Anyway, we ordered the following. Kids pancake and fruit. Kids fried chicken & fries + a side of extra crispy bacon. Both kids meals came with an apple juice. Crab Benedict. Chicken and wafffles. Ube pancakes Hot chocolate Thai Iced Tea & an alcohol beverage. The something sour. Can't remember the name but had grapefruit, soju, tajin rim. Damn near EVERYTHING was delicious!! We loved it alllll. Minus the hot chocolate. My kids did not like it, but it wasn't bad. Just not a favorite. On top of the food being yummy! It's all so decently priced. For everything mentioned above, our bill came out to $150. Which to me, in today's world, for 4 people, all of that?! Is not bad at all. I spend more on a less when grocery shopping for two days worth of groceries. We WILL be visiting again!

Breakfast won. I met up with a friend here and I'll admit I was a little hesitant at first. I'm not a huge fan of overly sugary breakfasts, and for some reason I had it in my head that this was more of an Asian-fusion breakfast spot, which isn't really my thing. I was wrong. I ordered the Mexican scramble and it was pretty good. I will say it could have used some more seasonings and sabor especially for being a Mexican scramble. Mmm and how bout some cotija?? Huge portion, however and the hash browns were exactly how I like them; crispyyyy. Obviously I also ordered an espresso martini because... you know me. And my friend and I decided to share the Biscoff pancake. OMG. Listen. I woke up Sunday morning legitimately wondering if they would remember me if I came back two days in a row because I wanted that damn pancake again. It was THAT good. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even really like super sweet breakfast foods or Biscoff for that matter. Fluffy pancake, Biscoff drizzle, cookie crumbles, fruit, butter, syrup on the side... whewww. I'ma need another one this week. My only minor annoyance was the waitlist situation. I put our name down and was told about 10 minutes (they dont take reservations), so we walked around the shops next door. I gave them my phone number AND corrected/confirmed it twice, plus I received the initial text verifying I was on the waitlist. After about 15 minutes with no call or text, I finally walked back over to check. The hostess said, "Oh, we called you." Girl... where?! No missed call, no text, nothing. Thankfully I checked back in instead of continuing to browse. Once we were seated though, everything was great. Our server was hella funny and had us cracking up; especially when my friend ordered a scramble and then started asking how the eggs would be cooked and whether it even came with eggs. Sir was basically like... ma'am, you ordered a SCRAMBLE. LMAOOOO The whole vibe was on point. Music was perfect, decor was fun, everything was clean, and it actually felt like you were hanging out at a Breakfast Club. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised to find this vibe in Lafayette. The area needed a little unstuffing and The Breakfast Club understood the assignment. I'll definitely be back, mainly because that Biscoff pancake and I have unfinished business!

My husband had to ask someone to take our order, no one checked on us during the meal, and we had to ask twice for our check. Honestly, I'm not even sure who our server was, and I'm not sure who I ended up tipping. The food was also very bland compared to what we remember. It's unfortunate because this used to be a place we genuinely enjoyed, but after this experience, we'll likely have to find a new breakfast spot.
