Worst breakfast offering I have ever seen for a buffet. Eggs were cold and had no taste and three people broke their fork on the French toast. Used to be better. read more

Can't say enough about the outstanding service from Tom & his first class crew! From the event planning to the food to the event service, the calm expertise put my mind at ease!! Absolutely Fabulous!! Since I have been ordering take-home for the last several weeks on their scheduled Tuesday and Friday menus, I have experience the best main dishes, salads and desserts ever! Just last night, I had Chicken Scallopini with Pesto Gnocchi with Grilled Zucchini. I ordered a side dessert of Chocolate Chip Banana Cake w/Berries. The whole dinner was outstanding!! Check the menus every week, they have choices. Everything tastes excellent. I get 2 days out of 1 main dish. The pick up location is easy and "total" social distance and payment by card is touchless. Tom and Karen you are the BEST!!! read more

What a great find! Friends told us about this establishment & we have certainly enjoyed their offerings. A wide selection, twice a week, of delicious entrees, salads, sandwiches, soups & desserts. All orders come with a cookie & bread + the price point is ideal. Have enjoyed their short ribs, seared salmon, chicken pot pie, pot roast, chicken scarpariello, many of their salads & more desserts than I should have ordered but loved every bite! You can either pick up your order at their location or have it delivered. They make every step so easy. Give it a try...you won't be disappointed! Thank you Patrick, Tom & Karen!!! read more

The food is DELICIOUS! And the prices are great too! We ordered their take out dinner and it couldn't have been easier. We'll be back! read more

Tom and his team were incredible! We hired them to cater our wedding reception, and we couldn't be happier! The food was delicious, the service was great, and our guests were happy and well satisfied. Tom knew exactly what he was doing, and his recommendations were spot on! Tom was also very familiar with our venue, and made sure everything was put to rights at the end of the evening so there were no issues. My wife and I have been ordering takeout at least once a week since the stay at home orders were issued. Every time the food has been great. The portions are generous without being over the top. They are a great option for takeout. read more

This great catering business has helped many of us get through the Covid stay-home. Their boxed meals are delicious, generous portions, fairly priced and presented in an appetizing way. My family will be using this fine Caterer for our future gatherings exclusively. The staff is professional, courteous, and WOW! can they cook. Their desserts are tops. I haven't had brownies (and blondies) like theirs before. I unabashedly admit they are better than mine. They offer meals for all tastes and needs. For your catering needs large or small We can't recommend a better place. Thank you Classic Catering for being here for us now and in the future. read more

Their food selections are quite varied and ALWAYS delicious! Excellent staff and service! Highly recommend!

Ordered Christmas dinner and it was wonderful! Perfect portion of prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, potato, a beautiful assortment of vegetables as well as a lovely salad with goat cheese. Last but not least, the chocolate mousse tart was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! First time using this place and I highly recommend! read more

I was lucky enough to work with Sandy/her staff and her fun sister on a beautiful backyard wedding. I was the wedding planner for this event and I can't say enough good about her team. Their presentation was beautiful. Food delicious and all the details was thought out with everything they touched, I had a few last minute items to set up and Sandy and her team pitched in to help me create a beautiful venue. That was not part of their contract but deeply appreciated on my end. The complete staff was very professional and flexible. I will use Classic Catering for all of my catering needs. read more

The best catering around. Very large menu to choose from, fresh good food. I've used them four times now, and I'm always impressed. I highly recommend Classic Catering. read more

Tom catered our family Christmas dinner. The food was delicious, beautifully presented with very generous portions. Appetizers, (hot crab dip was awesome), main entrees and a fabulous desert tray. I was delighted to have found a caterer available who was able to provide hot food for Christmas Day. Served buffet style in chafing dishes allowed us to take our time over dinner. I ordered the New Years Eve special boxed dinner, again delicious with a very healthy composition. I would recommend Tom and his team heartily, ( no pun intended) read more

Whenever I have hired them or eaten their food at someone else's function, it has been very good. The problem is that they are not reliable about returning calls/emails, so you're sometimes not sure if they are available on your date, interested in your business, etc. This is a problem for people who really like to plan ahead and/or are juggling an event with multiple vendors. That said, I think their food is very good for the price and I have always been happy with their service on the day of the event. Bottom line: It takes patience and nerves of steel to work with them, but they are worth it. read more

Went to an 80th birthday party yesterday (Monday) that the Classic Catering covered the party. The first thing I noticed is everyone working had a smile. Said hello ... pleasant, friendly and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Next was the wonderful smells ... delicious... the food was a buffet and the presentation was amazing .. nice set up but the best part? The taste. From grilled veggies, potatoes, rice with sauted veggies in it, salad, salmon, tri-tip and a mushroom sauce. The tri-tip was heaven along with all the fantastic sides. (Allergic to fish so that I did not try) During the party the gals kept glasses, napkins, and plates picked up and they were so good you really did not notice them doing that. They also had passed appetizers before dinner .. again, delicious. But again, their personalities were fantastic with the food off the chart. I'm not local but I sure will ask how far they travel when I'm looking for some party catering. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. Fantastic party ... read more

We used Classic Catering for the first time last December for our holiday event for 200 guests and, even though this review is rather late, I wanted to write it because our experience with Tom and the rest of his staff was excellent as well as the food. We had a delicious full sit-down dinner with passed hors d'oeuvres during our cocktail hour. We have hired them for our event again this December and look forward to working with them. The menu we worked on together last year was creative and he was so easy to work with. The best way to reach him, I found, is by text because, as mentioned by another reviewer, he is not great about returning calls! We started out thinking we would have 150 guests but as the number kept growing and we kept adjusting but his calm flexibility in dealing with all of the details made me feel confident that all would be fine. And it was more than fine!! read more

I'm reviewing Classic Catering based on having sampled their services at a recent CalShakes performance. Considering the natural limitations of serving a limited menu at a remote site, they do a truly bang up job of providing hearty food well prepared and generously portioned. They offered a nice mix of vegetarian and meat items as well. I ordered a veggie burrito which was more California Hippy styled than Mexican. That said, it was yummy! Grilled veggies, black beans, rice and cheese: what could be better? I'll tell you what's better, though... Their chili bread bowl. That was what my dining companion chose. Considering how darn cold Orinda was on the night that we went, I would have much preferred the soothing warmth of a big chili serving. They had veggie chili as well. Oh well. Next time it's cold, I'll know what to do. Their brownies and hot cocoa were also quite good. read more

Tom with Classic Catering is the absolute best caterer in town! He catered both my wedding and my brother's wedding. Tom is a gem. He is easy to work with, very professional, and let's be honest - the man can cook! Tom offerers a wide range of menu selections and is patient, compromising, and informative during the menu selection process. His staff was professional and courteous with my guests. I highly recommend Tom for your next event. I can't wait until my next big event so I can work with him again! read more

The food is delicious! The price is a bit on the expensive side but the quality of the food is very high. The staff is very nice and always on top of things. The roaming reception style is fun and innovative. They have so many options in the menu that you'll have a hard time picking only a few. Everyone at our wedding kept telling us that the food was incredible! read more

Classic catered our June 2011 wedding in Berkeley. The food was delicious, the staff was incredibly friendly and professional, and overall the reception meal went perfectly! During the planning process, they were friendly and respectful, offering us quotes that stayed within our stated budget that were creative and delicious. The food was displayed artfully, and they used fresh ingredients. We had a cocktail that had to be pre-mixed by the requirements of our venue, and they were great about making it to the specs we provided. They also had many vegetarian choices, which is a must for a bay area wedding! read more

I ran around checking out catering menus for several weeks and kept seeing the same old items. I was hosting a backyard wedding and time was running out. I drove past Classic Catering every single day on my way to work and it dawned on me to look at their menu. The menu was great and diverse but the best part was Tom the owner. He was flexible, did a site visit and had some good ideas about where to set up and did a perfect job, most of all he was calm when I was stressed. The food showed up on time, was amazing, very colorful, healthy, creative and delicious! He really was a joy to work with. I was stressed out about having enough food. We had enough and then some. We had some great leftovers. Thank you to Tom and Classic Catering. I highly recommend them. read more

Tom and his crew did a superb job catering our 30th wedding anniversary at our home in Lafayette. Service was exceptional, food was delicious, and the price was quite reasonable. read more

I've grown very fond of the food served at the Cal Shakespeare Theater. Excellent service between the two gentlemen that helped serve me. I remember both their names starting with a J but I've forgotten the exact name, but they were very knowledgeable about what was being served and very, very kind. I enjoyed their delicious specials, especially the "Bangers and Mash" and "Fish Tacos." Though there was a older gentleman with glasses and a goatee who was a little rude during the play's intermission, but other than that the food and service was excellent. read more

Tom and Patrick McKillop catered our box lunch for 1000+ at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on February 23rd. The lunches got rave reviews, but my rave review is for the brothers and their staff. They are easygoing but meticulous, prompt and thorough. The staff pitched in and never stopped -- always looking for the next detail to make perfect. Don't hesitate to consult with them -- you'll have new friends for life! read more

Tom is amazing!! We tried tried several different catering companies and left disappointed each time. Feeling frustrated we reached out to our friends and family for recommendations for a good catering company. Tom was recommended to us and we were thrilled when we left our tasting. The meat he uses is excellent and he allowed us to create the menu the way we envisioned it. He catered our wedding in October. All of our guests received food at the same time, Tom had our pink napkins folded into bows (exactly like the picture I showed him), and a great surprise was he cut the cucumbers into hearts for our salad. Tom and his staff are wonderful!! I wish I could give them more stars. They went above and beyond for our wedding. Thank you Tom!! read more

I used a classic catering for a private family dinner that we put together for my mother. It was a group of 16 of us (including 5 children). I thought that the classic catering team was extremely professional, and the food was exactly as expected with large servings. The service team was also very accommodating with table arrangements when we arrived. read more

Just used Classic Catering for a birthday bash of about 45 people. No room for a sit-down dinner for that many, so we decided to do lots of small bites instead. Tom was wonderful, offering lots of good ideas and a great selection to choose from. The quality, taste and quantity were top-notch, and the evening went smoothly since I didn't have to give a thought to the food! He did a beautiful set up and excellent clean up -- easiest party ever! I highly recommend Classic Catering. read more
