This place is SO good. This was a new cuisine for me and everything was delicious. The flavors remind me of Thai food: pungent, sweet, savory, sour, nutty. We tried several dishes (pls look at my pics:) Fave was the crispy, juicy lemon grass chicken that was cooked to perfection. Another absolute faaave, which we will get every time, is the wok tossed beef - it comes with rice noods, cucumber and cherry tomatoes, lettuce and the most delicious peanut-y vinaigrette. Eat it all mixed in or as a lettuce wrap situation. Either way, it's BOMB! Don't forget to order sticky white rice on the side for the perfect pairing with the flavorful dishes. Must try if you're in Stockton. Service was also great - the server gave us a run through of the menu since it was our first time. The decor is beautiful and peaceful, you almost forget you're in Stockton hehe
I was so proud to see a fancy Lao restaurant in Stockton, CA. It was so nice and clean inside, they even had a bar but we were so hungry we just focused on food. Even on the menu was so delicious, the gaeng aum was the only thing that was lacking the hm flavor but it's more of an authentic home dish so no worries I was still amazed that was on the menu, my fav food. Overall, I had a great time & will bring my family for them to try. We love lao food & seeing our people thrive! Blessings to this establishment & hope everyone will see how amazing lao food is!
We had a wonderful lunch here! I had been wanting to try this place, and so glad I finally made it. :) We came on a weekday with plenty of tables, and our server was the sweetest! He gave us lots of good & honest recommendations, and made me a tasty custom mocktail. The Level 1 chili spice in the Eggplant Jaew dip was pretty spicy for our non-Lao palettes, so definitely stay on the lowest levels if you are not used to high spicy levels. The Yum Talay seafood salad was light and refreshing, and the custard and black sticky rice dessert Sungkaya was sooo yummy. I will definitely go back when I'm in Stockton!
First time eating Laotian food and it was pretty good! Went in before anyone came in so service was very fast. It has a modern vibe to the restaurant and felt the food I ordered used high quality ingredients. Might come in again when I'm back in town.
Everything i had was excellent. Food, service and ambiance. I sat on the bar so the host there when not busy with other customers. Good conversations. The least favorite thing was the chicken sticks. Didn't like the texture. Best thing for me was the sausages. They have three variations. I'll visit again.
Authentic Laotian food in a lovely setting with Buddha and temple murals and a whole wall of leafy verdant plants. The salmon belly appetizer ($15) was incredible, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My favorite dish. I was appreciative of the heaping portions they offered for each of the entrees, especially considering the cheap prices. Also tried the duck laap ($20). Although initially a little sour, it grew on me. Granted it was a Monday night both times, but Lao Der has seemed somewhat empty each time I've been here, so I hope they get more customers because this is a great restaurant, and there are so few places offering Laotian food. You'll be happy you visited if you try it!
Of course I yelped where to eat in the area closes to the vicinity . Yelp led me to here and glad I followed my trusted fellow reviewers . I took notice right away how clean and intimate the restaurant was , the interior was beautifully decorated with Buddha murals at the front entrance lobby , the color schemes, lighting and plants in the huge glass terrarium makes the space feel so zen . Menu selection was not overly complicated , simple two page choices make it less confusing . We had the Nam khao which I always ordered at other Lao restaurants. Nam Khao here was not well seasoned for me , it's lacking the curry paste and was a tad bland . My husband was looking forward to lemon grass chicken , it's not what he was used to some place else . Here it's more milder taste of lemongrass. Chicken feet salad is a must try here , even flavors of sweet, sour and salty . Bamboo soup has a strong aroma of padek ( fish paste sauce ) other than that it's one of my favorite soup . Service here can use some improvement, our waiter seems somber and sluggish.
My fiancé and I got the Laap Beef Tartare, Nam Kao and Sticky Rice and it was so good! Service was amazing, our sever was very attentive and so kind as well! My order was on the spicy side (just how I like it) and he kept refilling my water, which shows that he was paying attention to us. There was also three-four other tables and I saw that he was giving everyone equal amounts of attention. The restaurant is so pretty inside too!! I love the plants on one wall and the lights on the ceiling!
The name of the restaurant is catchy. We liked the fact that it has a comma and exclamation point in the name as well. We arrived shortly after they opened. The owner/ waitress had to put a bunch of round tables together for us since we were a big group. She was friendly, but service was a little slow. It took the food awhile for the food to be bought out. I tried the green papaya and laap, which were nice and spicy. For my main, I had the kao poon. I was looking forward to try their nam kao (crispy rice salad) and introduce it to some of the people in my group. It's one of my favorite Lao dishes that isn't too commonly found. It was a winning dish. I just wish it was a bit spicy. If you're in the Stockton area, I would recommend this restaurant!
I believe this restaurant deserves more attention. The restaurant is beautiful, clean and the food is top tier. I ordered several dishes & it exceeded my expectations. I believe it's the perfect place to take your family if you've never experienced southeast Asian dishes and Lao's food is definitely underrated. The service was amazing & would definitely return for heavenly beef. That was tooooo good! Rating 11/10. To future me please order more.
We love coming here. Everything from the food to the customer service has been excellent. We ordered so many delicious dishes, including the papaya salad, kaopoon, fried tilapia, kao piek, beef laap, and several other tasty items. I would say their level 3 spice for the laap can get pretty spicy -- it's a slow heat that creeps up on you as you continue eating. One thing I'd ask for next time is some lemon or lime, as I like my laap a bit more tangy. They make their sausages in-house, and while they were good, I think they could be a bit larger considering the price, along with a touch more salt for a more savory flavor. That's just my personal preference. Overall, the food we ordered left us very satisfied. Our waiter was very kind and recommended a few dishes for us to try. Unfortunately, some items were out of stock, but that was completely fine. The decor is beautiful, and I love the lighting! It has the feel of a fancy dining establishment, but you can skip the suit and tie. We had no issues finding parking and their bathrooms (2) have been generally clean when I visited. Overall, a great experience, and we look forward to coming back. read more
Surprisingly this is my first time here. Came on a Tuesday at 330 and we were the only ones there...which was honestly nice. Food: We ordered nam kao, fish laap, Lao sausage, lemongrass chicken and Imperial rolls. Everything was amazing except the lemongrass chicken...it was just ok. Not worth the price. My favorite item was the laap...by far the best in town...had all the flavors of homemade and their spicy was spicy! Service was good...no complaints there. Ambiance: The inside is beautiful, absolutely amazing artwork on the walls and the fake plants in the middle add a very relaxed vibe. They also have 2, gender neutral restrooms. Great place, chill atmosphere and delicious food! read more

I can't say it any louder, but this is a must if you enjoy fresh asian flavors and especially Laotian cuisine. The yum salmon, wok tossed beef and pretty everything else is deeeeeelicious! Service was great and Ramano made you feel like a long lost friend that is hungry and he wants to feed you, with plenty of recommendations if needed. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe, with chill music and it is an easy place to love to come back to. You better hurry on down and get you some!! read more

I was so proud to see a fancy Lao restaurant in Stockton, CA. It was so nice and clean inside, they even had a bar but we were so hungry we just focused on food. nice place with great ambiance. nice staff with great service. first time here and i will say i fall in love with the foods: rich of flavours and just delicious. the mango sticky rice, you can pick either with purple rice or regular sticky rice. i will just a bit comment for it: need more coconut cream on my plate aka too little when served to me but the mango is sweet ~ love it!!! a recommended place and will say the prices are ok... read more

We were in the area, from the Bay Area, to watch the PWBA (Pro Woman's Bowling Association) Tournament at the local bowling alley. When you enter, you are greeted with a beautiful, clean and inviting space. The menu has Laos Foods I have never tried before. Here is a list of things we tried. Lao Sausage Long Bean Salad Beef Stew (not pictured) I loved everything. But the Lao sausage was my favorite. We ordered everything medium, and it wasn't too hot at all. I would actually say that it was pretty mild (for my palette), so next time I would consider going hot. I would definitely go here again. The service was great! At around 1pm on a Thursday , it was not that busy for dine in. read more

I went here for the 1st time for lunch and I would definitely come back. The food tasted fresh and for someone who wants something more on the healthier side this is great. Also great for vegetarian and vegans. Service was fine, it wasn't too busy. The decor inside is pleasant to the eyes. If you're in Stockton this is worth a visit. read more

Went here on a Monday mid afternoon for a very late lunch. We were seated right away. The place is very clean and organized. Please be patient because there is only 1 server working. The food tasted delicious and they were brought out very promptly. We arrived after a big group and still had a great experience. I thought we had to wait long for our food but that was not the case. I enjoyed my Kua Mee Noodles and Salmon Belly was amazing. Total was $64 before tip. read more

We went Tuesday night, they weren't busy. The food was served quick, service was great. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Price was reasonable. It was around $60 for 2 of us for this amount of food Kua Mee (5/5) we both like the texture and flavor. It's not too dry like other reviews said, but not too soggy. We asked for spicy and the spice level was perfect. Beef lapp (4/5): it was ok in my opinion. The beef was tender, the flavor is a but salty, it would be perfect to eat with rice Kao Soy (4/5): it's also just salty flavor, but I think it is how it is since I tried it at other Laos restaurant and it is how it is Mango sticky rice (5/5) you will never go wrong with mango sticky rice. It wasn't too sweet and perfect texture even though it's not mango season Thai tea (4/5): too sweet for me. I wish they were able to adjust the sweetness, but even extra cream still makes it too sweet. read more

Food 4.5/5 Service 100 Ambience 4.5/5 We were in the area and this is the closest. We came in Thursday after lunch. There's 1 table and then us. We ordered Papaya salad 4.5/5 On point papaya salad, I just want mine more salty. Ordered Medium Spicy and if you're used to spicy , let me tell you it's not spicy. Green Mango Salad 5/5 Super delicious, the flavor and the sauce is just perfectly right. Yummm!!! I had to order Togo Spicy level and it wasn't spicy as well. I hope my togo that I ordered will make me cry a bit. Lol I love spicy but I also know that Lao spicy is different but this spot is A ok when it comes to spicy. Noodle dish- Yummmm! 5/5 Spicy Lao Sausage - 4.2/5 I had Lao spicy sausage before and this one's not close to what I had before. Also I feel like it needs to be more crispier or cook it longer. All in all decent sausage and we ordered another 1. Total experience is 5 star. Food is great, service is outstanding and the ambiance is ok. My only comment is that , the food took a little longer than expected. Esp the papaya salad but other than that, try this spot when you're in the area. Happy eating!! I was surprised how well-balanced the dishes were with spices and flavors. The flavors were subtle and no one seasoning overpowered the others. However, I can see why some people say there isn't enough seasoning/flavor. I liked the kua mee, the noodles were tasty, it would have been a little better with just a little bit of liquid, the dish was mainly dry like migoreng noodles. The mango sticky rice was also prepared nicely. read more
