The platha a little oiler than I prefer, but still chewy and good for dipping. The hubs got the pork curry which ended up being super salty. He had to use a lot of rice to mellow it out. The bro in law said his beef curry didn't taste like much. I had a couple bites and I thought it was fine. But I added jalapeños, garlic, and like three kinds of hot sauce to it. Speaking of condiments, they didn't give us any hot sauce on the side. And the beef curry wasn't spicy. I did indicated if possible, so maybe it wasn't possible. We were in town for a big high school Science Olympiad competition and ate here two nights in a row. Both nights we were warm outside with a heat lamp even thought it was in the low 50s in January. I was actually comfortable without a jacket. Overall we really liked My Burma, I mean we did come here two nights. But honestly it was low on my Burmese restaurant rankings list. We tried to order different things each night. We also had a different server each night that was very nice. Night one: Nan gyi dok - Slightly below average with chicken more like pulled chicken than in chunks. Got with egg noodles but wish I'd tried with rice noodles (family was fine with egg noodles). (However, I realize now after Night two that rice noodles may be more like spaghetti.) Chicken with plattha - Fine. Samosa soup - Everything got soggy. Broth lacking. Too many chickpeas (should there be chickpeas?) Tea leaf salad - The husband found it too salty but I didn't notice. It was a romaine and cabbage mixed. I really liked it. Chicken with potatoes - Would have preferred a thicker sauce than this thin one. The thigh meat was a little sketchy but the husband thought it was fine. Would have liked more potatoes. My Burma, in the future serve the soup like at Burma Love in SF with samosa/falafel and other stuff on the side to add to it so it doesn't get soggy. I had a lovely time at My Burma on the way to San Francisco. We stopped by Davis for dinner, and found this place on yelp. Parking is in the backside of the plaza, and when we walked in, we were met with friendly stuff and a modern field to the interior design. There was ample seating inside and outside, and service was quick. I ordered the fried rice with shrimp and caviar. It tasted like a softer, buttery fried rice. It was a pretty late night at Davis. My family and I were hungry. I personally wanted to find a place to eat that was good and that had parking. I really hate having to search for street parking when I'm hungry haha. Looked at our trusty Yelp app, and found My Burma. We never had Burmese food, so it was a good place to try out. Upon entering we were greeted by friendly staff. The place was pretty packed, but we were seated right away. The place is clean and well lit. Considering we never had Burmese food, we were eager to try a bunch of things haha. You can look through my pictures for the food that we got. We ordered: Samusas; Platha & Vegetable Curry Dip; Burmese Pineapple Fried Rice; Mint Chicken; Chef Special Dry Curry Chicken; Nan Gyi Thok All dishes were very good, very flavorful! The one dish that did stand out was the Chef Special Dry Curry Chicken. I usually don't like Okra, but something about the sauce made Okra taste good haha. The Nan Gyi Thok was noodle dish that the server mixes in front of you. I wish I got the before it was mixed up picture, but I was too busy watching the noodles get mixed in haha. First time eating here with a couple of friends. It was late in the evening after a bookstore author talk event on a midweek night. We wanted food because there hadn't been time after work. We'd had to dash straight to the event. (After 8 pm is late after not having anything since lunchtime!) I was so hungry that I didn't want to have to deliberate what to select from the menu. When one friend suggested ordering a tea salad and garlic sauce eggplant split with her, I agreed quickly. Considering we were tired and hungry, I appreciated the patience of our server who took our order and brought us beverages in a short period of time. I love Burmese food and was so excited to see that Davis had their own spot! The food here is really good and quite consistent. We always get paratha, chicken curry, and coconut rice. The dry curry veggies are also surprisingly good. Great textures and flavors. My only complaint about the food is that it's salty, consistently so. Came all the way here from Folsom after our first-choice Burma place was closed for siesta, and My Burma was the closest that had no break in service. For what we ordered, we had a pretty decent meal. Located near UC Davis in a corner plaza, My Burma seems to be a pretty popular go-to amongst students and nearby residents. We came on Memorial Day for a late lunch and were seated quickly even though both the outdoor and indoors were pretty packed. Our server was super nice and came by our table plenty of times to refill water and ask how we were doing. Really appreciated that. We ended up ordering: - Samusas - These had a nice soft potato-y and pea filling with a crisp eggroll wrapper outside. The sauce it came with was a sweet and sour-type. - Tea Leaf Salad - Really our main reason for picking a Burmese restaurant. Tangy, crunchy, refreshing. - Nan Gyi Thok - Very reminiscent of Filipino palabok with the hard-boiled egg, except creamier and chicken noodle soup flavored. - Burmese Fried Rice - Not too heavy, and tasted a little floral. Our group ordered the mango salad, fiery tofu and chicken, eggplant curry, pineapple fried rice, and spicy noodle. A good solid restaurant with authentic Burmese appetizers and entrees. It's located in a mall near downtown and there's lots of parking, although it fills up quickly as there are lots of restaurants in this complex. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and we chose to sit inside. The interior isn't large, and there's an open kitchen right on the dining room space. The menu has some good selections, and because we are noodle lovers, I tried the Burmese Pad Thai with tofu, and my better half had the garlic noodles with pork. We shared. Both dishes were quite good, flavorful, and quite tasty. I did find the garlic noodles a bit on the oily side, but it was not excessively. The portions were large, and the prices were quite fair. Love this place. Plenty of vegetarian food. The tea leaf salad is flavorful and memorable. Eggplant is perfectly cooked, great flavor and texture. It is becoming our go-to for dinner delivery when we are running short on time. Second time I think to try this place and my friends their first time. We got the Blackpepper Chicken and this is the fourth in my series of chicken dishes from different places. This dish is very flavorful and the blackpepper sauce is just the right amount to make it peppery. For my taste, not spicy at all. This is actually my favorite dish out of all the food we got. We also got Tea Leaf Salad, Burmese Mix Vegetables Curry, Lemongrass Pork, Burmese Style Pad Thai, Burmese Pineapple Fried Rice, and Coconut Rice. The coconut rice was tasty and I liked it. The lemongrass pork was spicy. One issue though is that we got one of the bell peppers in one of the dishes that still had the produce sticker on and we brought it to the staff attention. This time my friend and I ordered the sumusas and Honey Fried Chicken to start. The sumusas were delicious! It wasn't like the thick fried dough. Instead it was egg roll skins. They're fairly big and stuffed! The fried chickens were a good size, crispy, and juicy. The honey was well coated and not too sticky. I got the Burmese chicken biryani. There seems to be a strong bold tamarind flavor. I expected the chicken to be shredded in it but it was a quarter of a chicken. The cilantro was a great garnish. My friend got the Nan Gyi Thok. I used to drive all the way to Oakland for Burma Superstar, so when My Burma opened in Davis, it was a no brainer that I would go. Very similar menu to the Bay Area staples, My Burma adds Sacto/Davis familiarity and welcoming. My most recent visit was last Friday when I was accompanied by two Burmese virgins and one friend who had only had Burmese once. I explained how Burmese food is mostly a fusion of Indian/Bangladeshi, Chinese, Laotian and Thai with a single exception. Burmese food is best known for the most interesting, savory, flavor and texture experience I've ever had-- Tea Leaf Salad. This culinary masterpiece revolved around fermented tea leaves which become like a pesto. This is drizzled over shredded cabbage, fried garlic, crispy lentils, peanuts and more. Topped with oil and then doused with fresh lemon juice, it will make your tastebuds dance and keep you coming back for more. I planned to order one for the table and then talked to my companions about ordering and eating family style. Luckilly they were game. In addition to the salad, we opted for the chili garlic shrimp, which is my usual go to. I actually prefer Burma Superstar's version, perhaps only because they use whole garlic cloves. But My Burma's shrimp is delicious, firm, crisp and well seasoned. Next, we tried the Burmese Pad Thai with chicken. I've never been a big fan of Pad Thai. This dish was fine if unremarkable. We tried the Caviar Butter Fried Rice. This was delicious- a truly decadent rice dish, but it is made with the orange roe (tobiko), not higher end caviar. I don't know that I would order it again, but it was tasty. Finally, we ordered the Lemon and Paprika Lamb. This dish blew my mind. I love lamb, but this dish had complex flavor with a bit of sourness that I'd associate with Vietnamese food. It's one of those dishes that I'd love the recipe for to make at home. I love paprika in all of its forms- spicy, smoky, savory. This dish was delicious with tender lamb and fresh mint leaves adding just the right amount of relation back to traditional lamb dishes. FANTASTIC. Another must order. I was so happy to see My Burma very busy on a Friday night. I was even happer today to read that the owners are planning a second location in Midtown Sacramento. I'm on a mission to try and eat every cuisine on the planet. Burmese may be a fusion of many cultures, but there are enough stand out dishes unlike any other to keep me coming back for more. read more

No. HAVE AGAIN: The fiery tofu with chicken mild spicy was pretty good except for the tofu which tasted flat despite the sauce (don't know why this was the case since the sauce was very good but it did nothing for the tofu). NOT HAVE AGAIN: The Burmese style ice tea is ok, not too sweet but at $6 it is too expensive. I always sitting outside but September is not a good time because of the leaves shedding. Another fantastic experience at My Burma! Dinner here is turning into a tradition every time I come home to visit. The food is reliably delicious and service is always great, so this has become a place I'm more than happy to keep coming back to. This time I tried the blackpepper shrimp and lemongrass tofu with rice. The shrimp was amazing - perfectly seasoned, not too oily, and a good ratio of shrimp to peppers and onions. The lemongrass tofu wasn't my favorite thing on the menu, but it was still a really good vegetarian option. I also tried the Burmese milk tea for the first time.
