Crispy chicken fried rice
Brian G.

Saw this place made it on one of the best places to eat list! Crispy chicken fried rice: A The chicken has a super crispy batter and the chicken is cut to about a centimeter thickness so it's a very satisfying bite. The sauce they serve it with is sweet and pairs well with it. The fried rice is also good and seasoned well! Nice service and a great ambiance for dinner.

Drunken Noodles

Totally unexpected gem! Come here if you love big portions, large menus, and tasty food! My friends and I randomly decided to stop in when the hunger hit on the drive up to Cool Patch Pumpkins from San Francisco. It was a Sunday, around 12pm, and the restaurant only had about 5-6 other diners when we arrived. We sat at a booth by the window and ordered the following: -chicken drunken noodles: (5/5) loaded with high-quality veggies, not too oily, perfect spice level -crispy chicken ramen: (5/5) almost like khao soi without all the toppings, the most insanely huge portion of fried chicken, could've easily fed 2 people -garlic & pepper chicken: I didn't try this dish personally, but my friend gave it a 4/5 The staff was attentive and efficient. A large party of about 12-14 guests arrived halfway through our meal and we were impressed to see how much seating was still available for other diners. If you're in the area and are looking for quality Thai food, I would recommend Vanda Orchid Thai Bistro without hesitation!

Green Curry

Excellent Thai food in Dixon! This little spot is a total gem. I saw that they had a dish called lemon chicken and that really intrigued me. It looked like it had a lot of rave reviews so I went especially to see what that was all about. This appetizer is on the larger size and could totally feed 3-4 people. It's cut up tempura'd chicken with a delicious lemon sauce on the side. The chicken is super crunchy and well prepared. The lemon sauce was a perfect match for it and the dish totally surprised me! No wonder so many people enjoy it! I'd certainly add my own recommendation for this dish as well. The green curry was excellent as well. Green curry is my favorite thing to get at Thai restaurants and I certainly compare them with each other. This green curry is very mild and creamy. It kept me coming back for more and more. It had a very clean taste to it that didn't make me feel weighted down. In terms of service, the servers were extremely nice and friendly. They were all smiles and very pleasant. My entire experience at Vanda Orchid Thai Bistro was great and I wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend it to anyone!

Thai Iced Tea

Came in to eat as a single yesterday I had cucumber salad, sticky rice , sirrracha deep fried prawns and Thai ice tea My prawn appetizer was the star of the show with the prawns being deep fried to perfection paired with an amazing sauce I had to ask for more of because it was so good. I do wish they had chicken satay skewers for the kids though but I think I've let that stop me from coming here for to long previously I do remember trying there lemon chicken I did find this to be a much. Better experience that

I am so mad at myself for finding this spot right before leaving Davis! This place is a gem. The ambiance smells amazing with the fragrance of Thai spices. If you're lucky to be close by, you should definitely check it out!

Tom Kha Soup

Very good Thai. Even nicer people. The portions are enormous and are well seasoned and prepared. We had a bowl of Tom Kha soup which could have fed three or four. Soup is flavorful with a surprising addition of tomato and onions. We ordered chicken as the protein. My only suggestion is that chicken should be cut up in smaller pieces. The bbq pork was absolutely delicious, as was sauce that accompanied it. Finally, drunken noodles were very good as well. Highly recommend Vanda Thai if you live in or are passing through Dixon/Davis. Big city flavors in a small town setting.

Best Thai place around town! There is parking in plaza. If you're going on a warm day, it will be warm inside. There's ceiling fans, but not sure if there's AC. As for the food, super yummy. Ordered Thai tea, pad thai and red curry which arrived quickly. The staff was helpful and checked in to make sure everything is over. My friends curry reminds her of similar curry place in San Francisco. Thai tea has the right amount of flavor. The noodles for the pad Thai were really delicious, still a bit chewy and not clumping together. The curry had a lot of flavor and filled with a lot of vegetables!

Stumbled upon this place on my way to Napa and it was delicious. The spring rolls were so fresh and the ginger chicken was so flavorful. The service was amazing and everyone greeted me with a huge smile.

Pork rolls

I decided to try out this restaurant yesterday after seeing many great reviews and being recommended to it many times. I ordered takeout and all the food I ordered was amazing! I got an order of the pork belly, pork rolls, sriracha prawns, and the sweet sticky rice taro for dessert. Every single thing I ordered was delicious. The pork belly was cooked great the skin was nice and crispy, the serving size was a little small in my opinion but still tasted amazing. The pork rolls were perfect and came with a really good dipping sauce. The sriracha prawns were nice and crispy and actually a pretty good size. And the sweet sticky rice taro was SO good, the dipping sauce was a perfect pairing. Overall a really great eating experience. I ordered through DoorDash so of course it was a little pricier (only because I ordered that way) but I did look at their menu online and I felt the prices were pretty fair! My order came pretty quick. I would definitely come back. Maybe next time I will eat inside :) But I do highly recommend this place it was great!

Can't believe it took me this long to write a review for My Burma. Long overdue. The food is excellent and I keep coming back. A few dishes worth calling out specifically: the Tea Leaf Salad, Sesame Chicken, Coconut Rice, and the Pad Thai. Haven't been able to get to anything else on return trips. One note if you're a heat seeker -- the Pad Thai doesn't get very spicy, even when requested. I like extreme heat, so factor that in accordingly. Most people will find it perfectly seasoned. On my last visit I tried the black rice pudding with ice cream. Don't skip it if dessert is on your radar. Dogs are welcome on the patio, which is a great perk. One thing to be aware of: the gate can be a little tricky to navigate -- something to keep in mind if you or anyone in your group has mobility challenges. My Burma has my business. Highly recommend.

My usual order at any Thai restaurant is pad thai or pad see ew, and they nailed it every time. The portions are huge and the prices are excellent and they definitely don't skimp. The vibe is very much a casual cantina: metal chairs, wooden tables, and an olive-green color palette throughout the interior. It feels lively and relaxed, perfect for a quick meal with friends between classes. - Pad Thai -- classic chicken pad thai topped with chopped peanuts and lime for extra zest; huge portion with a great balance of sweet and savory flavors; they also go pretty hard on the Thai spice if you ask for it - Thai Iced Tea -- cool, refreshing, and not overly sweet, with that classic amber color topped with condensed milk Service is always friendly and welcoming. The place can get pretty bustling, especially during weekend lunches, but that's part of the classic college-town cantina atmosphere. We were usually able to find a table, though you might have to wait a bit during peak hours since Thai Canteen is a must-try spot in downtown Davis!

I also tried the duck fried rice one time, but I made the mistake of ordering it way too spicy and ended up not being able to finish it. Honestly, that was on me, and I think if I adjusted the spice level, it would have been really good. I also ordered the mango sticky rice, which I was excited about because I have had it at many different places. Unfortunately, the mango was not very sweet, and when I mentioned that something felt off, the response I got made me feel a bit dismissed, like I did not understand the dish. That part of the experience was frustrating. In general, the service was not the kindest during that visit, which affected my overall impression. That being said, the food itself has good flavor, and ordering to go might be a better option if you want to avoid that kind of interaction. It has been a few months since I have been back, so I cannot say if the staff or experience has improved. Overall, it is a place with good food, but the service side of things could definitely be better.

We were greeted by a nice lady and she walked us over to our table. We started out with some wonderful hot Jasmin tea, and ice water that had a hint of lime, which was delicious. We looked over the large menu, and decided to start off with some Egg Rolls $8.95 which were yummy! They were served with a sweet honey sauce with crushed peanuts, that was great. The next item we got was their incredible Chicken Tom Ka Kai Coconut Soup which comes in a huge metal pot with a flame coming up from the center $11.00 There was plenty for several helpings each, but it was kind of hard to get to the bottom of the pot since their soup spoons are rather big. There were mushrooms, lemon grass, pieces of tender chicken, as well as lime leaves which gave it a wonderful flavor. We also split an order of Chicken Pad Thai $14.95 which was different then what I'm used to. Their version was served a bit sweeter, and with glass noodles, instead of the typical flat noodles. I used the women's bathroom which is in the back store room area. It was fairly clean, but my biggest issue was the sticky floors throughout the restaurant. I assume they just use to much cleaner, and don't rinse it afterwards, which is totally annoying as you walk around. We'll be back to try some Pumpkin Curry, and I can't wait for Sticky Rice w/ Mango to come back in season.

We frequent the Vietnamese restaurant, but never really think about going to Tom Yum Goong until today. We were originally going to Pho Lee Hoa Phat for dinner, but when we walked up I asked my son if he want to eat Thai instead which he and my wife decided they wanted to eat instead of Vietnamese. Ambiance (3.5/5 stars): first impressions when we walked in is that it is dark and needed more lighting. After sitting down, I noticed that one side of the restaurant was full of random antique items. I overheard someone asking them about the antiques and the owner said that her husband buys the antiques at estate sales, etc and that they are open to offers to purchase them. There are some Thai decor in the restaurant. Older 70's/80's music was playing in the background so it didn't feel like being in a Thai Restaurant especially with all the American antiques on one side of the restaurant. There are a handful of tables (seating for 4 people), but they do have room for larger parties. Food (4.5/5 stars): We really enjoyed our food. They had great flavors. The portion size was not big, but the price also reflected the smaller portion size compared to other Thai restaurants in town. Dishes: - Mango Salad: nice chunks of mango, mixed with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red onions, mint, cilantro, carrots, cashews, shrimp and the chef's special mango sauce. It was a nice refreshing dish and was once of our favorite dishes that we ordered today. - Super Pad Thai w/ Chicken: flavorful, authentic Pad Thai flavors - Moo Yang (B.B.Q. Pork): nice tasting grilled pork with sweet chili dipping sauce - Pad Ka Prow (Pad Basil - Beef): nice flavor, had a lot of green beans (not usually in Pad Ka Prow), but I liked the flavors. I always welcome extra veggies. Service (4/5 stars): The waitress/owner was very nice and was pretty attentive overall. She was the only one waiting tables and with take out orders as well as helping some in the kitchen. She came by a few times to check on us and refill our waters. It was a slow night for dinner (~7pm, Friday), only one other table eating and 2 take out orders while we were there, so not sure how the service would have been if they were busy. Food came out relatively quick. Tom Yum Goong is a kind of hidden in Vacaville. They have great tasting food and would be much busier at a better location. They do have smaller portion sizes, but prices do reflect that. Between Vacaville and Fairfield, I feel Vacaville's Thai restaurants are much tastier than any in Fairfield and Tom Yum Goong is no exception. If you are craving some good Thai food, give them a try. You might even find a piece of antique that you may want to purchase.

Instead, our experience was ruined by the owner, Gordon Langstaff, and his completely inappropriate behavior around a small child. My son, who is three and on the autism spectrum, briefly picked up a loose electrical cord that was lying on the ground under the patio stairs (I have a photo of how exposed it was). Instead of calmly addressing the situation, Gordon walked over in a rude, irritated tone and said, "Can you do something?" I told him I was already handling it and redirecting my son, but as he walked away he started cursing under his breath, using foul language that was clearly audible right next to my child. There is no excuse for swearing like that in front of a three‑year‑old, especially when the unsafe cord was left out in the open by the restaurant in the first place. Whether or not my son is autistic, families should never be subjected to hostility and foul language from the owner of a restaurant. If you offer outdoor seating and leave cords and other hazards accessible, you should expect children to be curious and respond with basic courtesy, not anger. The food itself was mediocre, and after that interaction it honestly didn't matter. This was supposed to be a special birthday outing, and his attitude and language completely ruined it.
