Sorry for the lack of photos with this review - I ordered while in a feverish stupor last night and honestly couldn't think straight enough to document the meal. I went with their Seafood Drunken Noodles (mild spice) and Thai Tea through DoorDash. First, the positives: the flavors were genuinely excellent. The noodles had that perfect balance of basil, garlic and mild heat that makes drunken noodles so satisfying. The seafood included three substantial pieces of fish, one lonely shrimp, and plenty of squid pieces (about 2 inches each, cut to match the noodle width). The spice level was spot-on for "mild" - enough heat to notice without overwhelming. And the Thai tea? Absolute perfection - 10/10, could not be improved. Now for the disappointing part: the portion size for $26 was genuinely underwhelming. The container was tiny - think meal prep size, maybe 5×7 at most, with about a quarter dedicated to a small side salad/vegetables. The taste was there, but I definitely felt a bit robbed on value. That said, I'm realistic about today's economy. Food costs are skyrocketing, and small businesses are getting squeezed from every angle. My takeaway lesson: eat AT THE RESTAURANT rather than ordering delivery. You'll not only get a better sense of portion sizes, but you'll experience the full vibe of the place and build a relationship with a local business. Was looking for a Thai place while in a nearby city and found this resto while browsing through Yelp. I came at a time when I was the only customer inside since it was early. Food is good. Service is great. Server was attentive, observant, and was kind enough to show me how he made Vietnamese coffee when I was curious how it was done. He was also accommodating when he offered to have my food adjusted in the kitchen when it was not spicy enough for me. He also asked if I needed another plate, which I politely refused, when he saw me slicing all of my food into smaller pieces first before eating them. Then the pumpkin/eggplant entree but wasn't pumpkin, was squash. The chicken was scarce, barely enough for two people to have three each bite size pieces. Since we weren't familiar with Lao cuisine, I asked the server for a Lao noodle dish. He pointed to the menu on the wall and suggested tom koa poon, which tastes like a papaya salad with thin rice noodles. I expected a stir-fry noodle dish, so I learned for future to ask for more details. After this party of six left, we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while. I observed two or three to-go orders during our dinner. There was only one server who bussed tables and also handled the cash register. It's surprising they sell Cafe de Monde coffee. We started with the chicken satay, paired with an amazing peanut sauce. This was my favorite! The chicken tasted great and the peanut sauce is amazing! For the mains, we went with the chicken pad kee mao and beef sweet Thai basil. While in Vacaville I discovered Bhan Thai Lao Kitchen, a little ways from the shopping center but easy to find and plenty of parking. The restaurant was decorated with traditional Thai and Lao items, which I thought was cute and has that authentic feel. We ordered so many items it was a blur. I know we got 2 tom yum with chicken which were pretty good- not as spicy as I prefer. There was a beef noodle soup that wasn't pho, but came close to it in flavor, which was my favorite- tied with the beef salad. The vegetable tempura was great for the toddler at the table. We also ordered a pad Thai which was good. The beef salad was also outstanding- it had a nice spicy kick but even the weaker ones in our party devoured it... just with a LOT of water, haha. I had ordered the veggie soup with tofu, Beverly Thai mixed vegetables, and the cucumber salad. The mixed vegetables were cooked well, but the sauce didn't really pop for me. It had good flavor but wasn't cooked throughout the dish. The veggie soup also a little plain, but the broth tasted really clean. I was dealing with a cold at the time so this help tremendously. There is a decent amount of seating with some nice Thai decor. Food: 1. Gra Prow with Beef lunch special (medium spicy): good flavor, but slightly sweet. They use ground beef instead of sliced beef and I didn't not taste any basil that is usually in this dish. I got it medium spicy, but I didn't find it spicy at all. 2. Pad Thai: good flavor, but my wife thought it was a little too sweet. Both dishes were decent overall and were enhanced with some of the chili sauces they provided. This place is bigger than we initially thought with very high ceilings. We were warmly welcomed to our table and the service was attentive throughout our time there. Our starter was gyoza that had a nice sauce on top. We had the Pad See Ew, which was plentiful and tasty, along with drunken noodles. We ordered medium and it was just the right amount of heat. When you walk in, you immediately feel the Thai/Lao ambiance, they even had a foodie video on their TV of a foodie YouTube person trying foods around Thailand and Lao. The chicken was so crispy (almost like chicken katsu) and the lemon sauce to dip the chicken in was a perfect texture and just the right amount of lemon! The papaya salad was a bit spicy for my tasting but that's only because my husband ordered it in medium so it was perfect for him since he likes spicy foods and he loved it! As for the chicken satay appetizer, the peanut sauce that goes with it was perfect and the chicken was the typical chicken when ordered chicken satay at Asian food places! I even used the peanut sauce as another dip for some of my chicken from my lemon chicken fried rice and it was delicious. Lastly, I've always been a big fan of Thai tea so when I saw this place had a Thai green tea, I was shook because I didn't know Thai tea could be green so of course I had to try it. And of course, it did not disappoint! It was the perfect drink to go with my lemon chicken fried rice and my husband's papaya salad. Ordered Beef tripe Larb and sticky rice from here for the first time and i can definitely say that this place is authentic thai food.. I've eaten at multiple Thai restaurants and only very very few taste authentic.. First, the Larb wasn't sweet as almost every thai restaurant around is sweet and they even serve the beef larb with tripe, which not alot of Thai restaurants do. The sticky rice is cooked exactly how I remembered it from my childhood when my grandmother used to to make it and not so soggy like every other restaurant which most thai restaurants these days dont even serve. Oh my goodness. Where to begin? First of all, I wish I lived closer to this restaurant. I would come weekly if I could. Bhan Thai Lao has only been open in Vacaville for just over a month! And damn is it good. We started our meal with the fresh roll appetizer, which comes with shrimp by the way. It's not stated in the item description, so we had to ask. I would suggest they add that to the description for the future even though there's a photo of the rolls in the appetizer section. The rolls were extremely fresh, the rice paper was bouncy and perfectly chewy, the veggies had a great refreshing crunch to them, and the shrimp was not chewy at all. The peanut sauce was very creamy and I wish they had given a little more (we love dipping our rolls with lots of peanut sauce). Now, on to our entrees. I'm always looking for solid, authentic boat noodle soup with rich flavors that give your taste buds a roller coaster ride and this place is impeccable. The broth had a depth of flavor that I haven't tasted in other boat noodle soups that I've had at other restaurants. The meat was tender and soaked up all the deliciousness of the broth. The noodles were perfectly cooked. The fried garlic was plentiful and the veggies weren't overly cooked either. The entirety of the dish was well-balanced and a perfect portion size. I was also able to customize my spice level, and chose medium, which was the right amount of spice without jeopardizing the flavor of the dish. I also tried a bit of my husband's Tom Yum noodle soup and that was delectable. My husband loves a good Tom Yum and this broth was clear but full of the signature flavor of the dish. He also chose medium spicy and it added another dimension to the broth. His noodle soup also came with a good amount of fried garlic, as well as various meats! He also mentioned that the noodles were a perfect consistency and cooked well. Service was very attentive, and the ambiance of the restaurant was very quiet and peaceful. We did come during the non-lunch rush time, but there was plenty of seating at the restaurant and it was a great spot to relax and have a good meal. They have a whole menu of authentic Thai/Lao noodle soups and I hope they never take them off, because their soups hit the spot every time! Aside from the soups (tom yum, kao poon, kao piak, kasoy, etc) they have a whole menu to order from. I loooove the nam khao here so much, super flavorful but not spicy. I've tried a bunch of their dishes here, and each one is very authentic and cooked fresh. The parking lot is shared and a little weird, but you should be able to find a spot around the building.
