    Welcome to Rodsap.

As the old saying goes Always trust your gut instinct. Now, let's begin this new fabulous Lao review. RodSap is a popular restaurant known for its authentic Thai and Laotian cuisine. It's located in a midsize plaza at downtown Fairfield, CA. As we heard from local customers who frequently praise their flavorful dishes, generous portions, and friendly service. That said we were excited in trying our first ever Lao cuisine. We arrived on a very warm afternoon for lunch, and were greeted by a young Laotian female staff. I must say their interior decor and layout were culturally curated and spacious, respectively. Their menu has an extensive list of food from appetizers, to salad to pan fried noodles to stir fried dishes served with rice. The culmination of our decision was when it's either go with rice or pan friend noodles. I chose the latter. Their food was flavorful and tasty; food portion was suffice it to say enough. Iced tea was refreshing. Atmosphere was relaxing. Service was spot on. Staff were cordial, articulate and competent. Ample of parking. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious. I recommend you visit.

Since it's not often that I find myself in Fairfield, RodSap Thai Lao Kitchen has been in my bookmarks for years. When the Meyers Cookware Sale brought me into town, I finally stopped in for lunch afterwards. Since we arrived right when they opened, we had the place to ourselves for almost an hour. We tried their Lao Sausage and Pumpkin Curry. The Lao Sausage a bit of heat to it but not overpowering and the pumpkin curry was so delicious with that bowl of rice, I couldn't stop eating it. Great decor, service, and food, we will be back when we find ourselves back in Fairfield.

Ordered takeout. Sausage with sticky rice Kao peik Papaya salad When I first called for the ordered I called i specifically asked how many sausages come in 1 order the guy said 2. Then when I got home the order only had 1 sausage per order. I called them to let them know and the guy said that the chefs change it up every so often. Very inconsistent if that's the case. Not to mention for the price of the 1 order or sausage cost $18. There was no taste to the laos sausage ... looks like stor bought with no seasoning and just deep fried.... Definitely not worth it!! The papaya was ordered with 8 peppers Laos style. They used an overwhelming amount of crab paste and there was no spice or thai chillie. They also did not include the noodles that are usually paired with Papaya salad... very disappointing. When I called to the restaurant.. the guy that answered generally did not seem to care what so ever .. thought that maybe they'll at least say sorry or something.. but nope just okay... We only decided to try this place because they had kao peik.. the servings was small and very salty!! If your looking for good Thai/Laos food I'd definitely stay away from this place!! Go to Kobs Kitchen in American canyon!! You get more better quality food... (unfortunately they were closed today so we chose to try this location instead...)

We stopped here after leaving the bay area going back to NorCal area. I enjoyed both the pad thai and green curry but I didn't think the Lao papaya salad had too much flavor. I think this was due to the spice overpowering the other components. I've had plenty different variations and this just didn't hit the spot. I will give it another try the next time I go through Fairfield to determine if it was a one time thing. The employees at the front were really nice.

Excellent service, friendly and inviting. The location isn't the best. But, a very nice surprise inside. Nicely decorated and very clean. The prices are about the same as other Thai restaurants. The servings are a good portion size. The food is delicious. The spicy wings were the favorite of the night. I myself loved the pad thai. I'm looking forward to coming back in the future.

We always have amazing, delicious food at RodSap, today the difference was the outstanding service that we had from the young lady who served us. So friendly and personable. The dining area is always clean and today I was able to watch the end of the 49er game from where we were sitting. I tried the bbq pork today and it had an awesome grilled flavor. My wife got the red curry with beef, she says it's the best she's ever had.

Can't believe I've driven by this location so many times! Cute simple indoor vibe, good eats for an intimate meal or festive for a larger group. Service is absolutely amazing!!! Food comes out picture perfect in a timely manner. Definitely enjoyed their eggrolls and the pumpkin curry. You won't be disappointed with what you order.

RodSap has a special place in my memory thanks to them never changing the flavors of their dishes. Everything tastes as good as I remembered it way back when this place opened - even when it was S&L Thai. Their service has always been friendly, kind, and welcoming. From the outside, it wouldn't be what you'd imagine on the inside but it features a nice sized dinning room and a TV upon walking in. My favorite dishes by far is the citrus chicken. I absolutely love the breading and the sauce that it comes with. The chicken is never too dry and I even enjoy the greens that it comes with. The pad Thai has the perfect amount of sauce. I can always count on it to be the same every time I order it.

We came here wanting to try something new. My husband said his half Thai coworker mentioned this place so we thought, why not?Honestly the service was very good, but the food was just not great. The citrus chicken was very rubbery and the batter was falling off the chicken so it was basically just bare, rubbery chicken breast. The lao sausage was just ok and lacking the complex flavors I was expecting. The yellow curry and pad see ew were ok, pretty standard. All in all the bad outweighed the good and sadly, there are other Thai restaurants in town that we would prefer over this place.

Kao Poon really hit the spot on a cold day. The soup was perfectly spiced at level 3 and the Shrimp tempura was delicious.
    Andrea N.

Kao Poon was perfec at spice level 3. Great on a cold day. Loved the delicious shrimp tempura.

Best Thai food in the Bay Area and we've tried tons of places. The fried bananas are to die for. The curries are delicious.

I've been ordering to go very often. Their quality doesn't ever disappoint. I've tried quite a few items from the menu and all of them have been great. Of course I have my favorites like the kapoon (Thai spicy) and Lao sausage but everything else is delicious as well. I love that they are so consistent with their quality, flavors, and spice levels. Definitely top tier

The shrimp in the curry were so plump and clean, the vegetables were fresh, crisp, and tender, and the seasoning/heat level was absolutely perfect. Honestly, they've mastered the balance of flavor and comfort. Combined with the fluffy white rice cooked perfectly every single time, the whole meal just feels comforting in a way that's hard to describe. The fresh spring rolls were exactly what my stomach needed, and the peanut sauce is so good I can never get enough of it--she had to bring me extra again Also, everything photographed exactly the way it looked in real life, which says a lot about the quality and care they put into their food. One thing I've always appreciated about this place is that they truly prioritize the guests already dining in while still handling incoming orders and new customers. You can tell they genuinely care about people having a good experience and treat many of their regulars like family. Lisa especially is amazing. She remembers small details about her regular customers, greets people by name, and makes everyone feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated. Funny enough, while I was literally drafting this review, Ken (Lisa's husband) walked out carrying a dish he had just cooked. He looked genuinely happy and excited to serve it, and you could immediately tell how much pride he takes in his food. He greeted the guests in front of me with a smile and that old-school respectful "sir" hospitality that honestly feels rare nowadays. It's refreshing to see genuinely good people who truly enjoy what they do and care about what they're offering others. Today I almost grabbed drive-thru instead because I left the house in pajamas, but not for one second did I feel out of place here. I felt comfortable, welcomed, and at home. It gave me the perfect space to quietly enjoy a meal alone without feeling awkward or out of place. Honestly, if you're new to dining alone, this would be such a good place to start. You'll be given enough space to enjoy your meal peacefully while still feeling cared for and welcomed by Lisa, Ken, and their team.

We walked in and there were a few people already enjoying lunch, but plenty of open seating. We were seated right away and service got going quickly. Always a good sign. There are lunch specials, but we went à la carte because I believe if you're going out to eat, you might as well order what you actually want. We ordered seafood tom kha, chicken & shrimp pad Thai, basil beef, spicy catfish, pla pad phed (trout), and steamed rice -- all requested not spicy because my parents like flavor, not a near-death experience. The seafood tom kha was a win. Dad was impressed with the variety of seafood -- shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari, and catfish. He kept commenting on how flavorful the broth was, which in dad language is basically a Michelin star. The basil beef was new for my parents and they both loved it. The sauce had great flavor and paired perfectly with the rice. The pad Thai was good. Solid. Dependable. Not the kind that makes you dramatically pause mid-bite and rethink your life choices, but definitely tasty. Now the spicy catfish is what I personally come here for. It's fried just right -- not overly breaded, still flaky and tender inside. The sauce is always on point and full of flavor. This dish alone keeps me coming back. The pla pad phed (trout) unfortunately didn't land the same way. Because it's served filleted, it's easy to overcook, and sadly this one was. The sauce itself was great, but the fish was a bit too done. Overall, this place has been a favorite of mine for a while, and it survived the ultimate test: my parents enjoyed it too. I'll definitely keep coming back for the spicy catfish, basil beef, and their reliable pad Thai. And the service? Always friendly and attentive -- which honestly makes the experience even better.

If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try.
