The food reminded me of my childhood. So happy to find a Chinese Food place in Fairfield that makes every dish taste so delicious & authentic. I wouldn't suggest anyone to dine in, the area is very sketchy and the inside is a bit crammed. Service was ok, they are a bit short and to the point but I don't mind it's a cultural thing. I've ordered twice from this establishment. We tried chicken fried rice, general Tso's chicken, Hunan Chicken, honey walnut Shrimp along with chicken chow mein, and lastly sweet and sour chicken. I got takeout from here last night. This is the second time I've had food from here. Their prices aren't bad. The portion sizes are good and the food is super tasty! They make really good Mongolian Chicken! Which is hard to find! Most places only make decent Mongolian Beef. So far I haven't had anything that I didn't like. I thought the curry was just ok. The green beans are cooked to perfection! I tried the Basil Chicken and it was very good! Just an FYI... if you're not ordering through DoorDash or Uber Eats. The restaurant recommend recommends ordering directly through their website. It's definitely best to order ahead of time. Otherwise, you could be waiting a while inside. We loved the food, and one of the advantages of dining in is that the food is freshly prepared and hot. The server wasn't friendly to us but was to a family of a different ethnicity. The moment they walked through the door she excitedly welcomed them in however when we walked in she just stood staring at us with a blank stare. No greeting, no how are you, or thank you as we left. Even when she came to take our order there was no smile or friendliness. Between that and the look on her face I asked if she was ok. She was a tiny bit cordial afterwards. Love their Walnut shrimp! So different from other walnut shrimps. They have a light batter unlike most places . I'm not a Mu Shu pork kind of person but my mom said it's so good here. It was pretty good. Since I don't live here I had to have chow mein. But it still wasn't the chow mein I'm used getting in the City when I used live in the Bay Area. We had the seafood Chow Mein. I understand they recently moved locations and the new place isn't in the best area and the ambiance wasn't the best inside. We had the dumplings, Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, and beef chow fun. Serving sizes of the dishes were smaller than expected and they gave us chow mein by mistake. The chicken wasn't spicy even though there was whole dried chilis. Dishes were freshly prepared but just okay. The one thing I had that was unique and would bring me back are the dumplings. They came in a tangy, peanut sauce with maximum umami. Due to our busy week, we opted for takeout instead of dining in. Walking in, you'll be blown away by how amazing the food smells. Everything was clean, and the staff were great. They told my husband they used to be in Vacaville, and when they moved to Fairfield, tons of their old customers still came! We can definitely see why. Once we got home, we eagerly couldn't wait to try the food. We got Beef Chow fun, Pork fried rice, Chicken chow mein, Pan Fried Gyozas, and Egg rolls. Everything was fresh and tasted great. We had tons of food, so we've got a ton of leftovers, which is always a plus. The reviews sold me on going here and I was so happy I picked China Stix. There were "regulars" there at my pickup time and all told me my order was not going to disappoint. Did BBQ pork fried rice and chicken chow mein (both party tray size), sweet and sour pork and orange chicken. The servings are generous and the taste is definitely cooked with love of their work. The staff perfectly predicted how much food would serve and worked hard not to have us get more than we expected. If you don't know the sizes, just ask. They are so helpful. I will say to order well ahead of time in person or by phone over online as the total cost was cheaper that way. But takeout was the way to go. I've had two separate occasions on trying their food and each time has been just as I expected the food to come out. Everyone loved the food and there were no complaints. It takes a long time to get served, and the service isn't good; no one smiles or shows any friendliness when dealing with customers. Im very, very, very disappointed in the Chef at this restaurant. His total disrespect to me as a customer is appalling. I ordered Hong Kong noodles with vegetables to go got home and as i was eating my fork hit something hard reached into the food and pulled out this big piece of hard white plastic. Took it back to them and the chef stated it wasn't from them and he never saw anything like that before!! It was a grave insult as if I would make something like this up!! First time trying China Stix on New Year's Eve after stumbling upon the restaurant through other Yelp reviews. Called in for pick up and ordered chicken chow mein, Chinese potstickers, Hunan chicken, and pork buns. Long story short, the food was great! You can tell it was a family run business and the service and quality of food did not disappoint. Chicken chow mein had a thicker of a middle than Ive had at other places, but it was great. Flavor was on point, it was still hot when I got home and tasted fresh. The Hunan chicken had a great flavor, though it is spicy. Not overly spicy to where it's unbearable but if you're sensitive to spicy foods, probably wouldn't be a good selection. Otherwise, the veggies were cooked well and still had some crunch and the chicken was cooked well and was tender. The steamed pork buns were delicious! I'm a fan of pork buns, so I had to try these. The bread was nice and fluffy and the pork was slightly sweet and tasted great. The potstickers were delicious. They were the "Chinese" potstickers (the menu offers different styles) and had a thicker wrap, which I enjoyed. Overall, this will be our go-to Chinese place from now on. Wife didn't feel the same), fried rice (fine), chow mein (absolutely bland - no flavor whatsoever), sweet and sour pork (wish it was crispier and had a bit more flavor), Mongolian beef (no flavor, not spicy at all as promised), Kung pap chicken (again, no flavor and no spice), and beef and broccoli (bland). I've been coming here for over a year. I don't come often, however. Here's why. I order strictly online from their menu, which is easy to use. No complaints. However, the website then generates an estimated ready time. I've learned to wait twenty minutes past the estimated ready time before I leave my house to pick it up. Then it takes me fifteen minutes to get there. And every time I do that, there's still at least a 10-30 minute wait. I don't know if they need more cooks or what. The food is very good. No complaints, there, either. The prices seem high, but not so much that I haven't gone back. And the portions are generous. But that damn waiting is maddening. Either fix your website to add an extra 30 minutes or hire more cooks. You're too good of a restaurant to lose business because the food is ready over an hour after it's ordered. I can't imagine how frustrating it is for people eating in. Honestly, I've started shopping around for Chinese food at other restaurants that are way more inconvenient to get to in hopes that I get timely service. read more
