I'd give this place 3.5 stars. Should be $$$ rather than $$. We're pretty much Panda Express people but we decided to try this place for a change. I ordered take out, one order of house fried rice, one order of orange chicken, and one order of sweet and sour pork. Everything was tasty and looked like it was made from scratch. Was it freshly prepared? Not likely. I was in and out the door in less than ten minutes. No way they could prepare this food that fast. Portions were big enough to serve 3-4 people no problem. The bill was a bit of a sticker shock, about $54 for everything. Would I go back? Probably not. Panda is about a mile from us and the two of us can eat there for $20-ish. This place is on the other side of town. And at Panda I can see the food items before I make a selection. Panda's food doesn't sit around very long under the heat lamps. read more

Made a very large order today and I felt like the one who took my order was not fully honest. I asked how many people would it be for a small tray of chow mein he said 4 adults or 6 children. I went ahead and bought a large tray ($150) and half of that fed 8 adults and 2 kids! And got left with a full half tray.... Wayyy too much! We ordered chicken with green beans and the plate only had green beans no meat!!! I've always like their chow mein here but felt like i overspent by trusting what I was told. Lesson learned. I originally came for some fried rice and asked for vegetable fried rice with only eggs and green onion. There was a miscommunication and when I picked up my order and got home I realized it had peas and carrots. I called the restaurant and told them and Jeff told me to call and request a replacement. A week later I called and asked for Jeff he knew my name and remembered the situation. Safe to say, I am home enjoying my rice made correctly. THAT is good customer service. Ordered Shrimp Fried Rice, Egg dropped soup and Twice Cooked Pork - Tender pork belly, slow-cooked to perfection and crisped to a golden finish, and we received a different order. I called the restaurant and instead of getting the order corrected, I was told that they don't have the twice cooked pork in their menu, when I reminded them that I always order this menu even through Uber eats, i never had any problem. He then continued to tell me that their chef has been there for 3years making me feel like it was my mistake, he then continued to tell me to show them the website where I got their menu. I asked him how he expect me to do it, by texting me the picture? He continued to tell me to go back to the restaurant on my free time so I can show them. What a joke! It's sad because they are so close to where I live and I have enjoyed their food, though the portion has changed drastically, and I do understand that they have to do it, blaming this on our economy, inflation, but this last order and how the restaurant dealt with it is not sitting well with me. Here's the picture of the pork order we received, which looked more like a Pork A La Szechuan than the Twice cooked pork belly, also this is not worth the $17.33, for a few pieces of thinly sliced pork and what looked like left over veggies from another order. A wonderful discovery! This tucked away restaurant isn't much to look at but the food is all wonderfully prepared and served with generous portions. The egg rolls were freshly fried and crispy. The beef broccoli was tender. The fried noodles were well prepared. Nothing was too salty as you might find at other Chinese restaurants. My only small complaint was the hot and sour soup was a bit thin. The service was fast and wonderful. The man and woman running the front of house were attentive though a bit harried. Rating is at three until I try more of their menu. So far, the glazed walnut shrimp, bbq chowmein, and beef asparagus were excellent! The noodles were perfect and had great flavor. The shrimp was crispy and delicious with just the right amount of glaze. Beef was tender and the sauce was very tasty. What can I say about this place? A staple of Fairfield since my childhood, this remains the best chinese restaurant around this area--by far. They've gone through a few different owners/managers over the years, but the quality of food and warmth of service has remained consistent. I usually order, and consistently love, the broccoli beef, garlic sauteed green beans, lemon chicken (or any of the classic chicken styles), and chow mein. All the staples are great though. I was really wanting this place to be a win for me since I live so close by. Ample parking, place looks small from the outside but lits pretty spacious inside. Seating for smaller or larger parties. I like the decorative vibe of the place. Nice variety on their menu and lunch options menu. Came to try their lunch menu. Friendly service right away. Clean tables. Fried rice was a bit tough. And the lemon chicken had more batter than chicken. The cherry pork was actually decent and I pretty much ate all of the entree except for the rice, I wasn't able to finish the meal. Food was about a two for me. The excellent service deserves a four. They do give a nice serving size. And they do have a flow of regulars from what I observed. read more

When we visited Peking Restaurant, it was at 3.5 stars. In keeping with the unofficial rules of Chinese dining that meant the food was going to be amazing. It was. Everything was amazing; check out the pictures I took. It all tastes as great as it looks. The staff was nicer than expected and was very personable to our dining experience. So now I find myself in a difficult position. At the time of writing this review the rating current stands at 4 stars and that sounds about right to me; however, I'm tempted to try and get it back to 3.5 stars to keep the unofficially system in place. There general chicken is horrible, way to much batter and no chicken, like I was eating fried batter and sauce The host who serves food , doesn't wash his hands at all , watched him the whole time , not one time did I see this man wash his hands, collecting peoples credit cards and answering the phone, then want to serve the food . Stopped for a quick bite while our car charged on the way back home from Plumas Lake. Wanted to go to Huckleberry but the wait was too long so we decided on this. Was a little cautious since there was nobody in the restaurant, but checked the reviews and it seemed promising. We got the lunch special which came with chow mein or chicken fried rice, egg drop soup, and a main. The soup was okay. Pretty bland at first but was saved by the chili sauce. The chicken friend rice and general Cho's chicken were the stars of the meal but weren't really anything special. The wings came out and looked very promising but after one bite I was disappointed.
