The dining room is very casual and it reminds me of a breakfast and lunch diner. Bigger groups may be harder to accommodate with limited seating In case you had a big party. We ordered Pork and Chive dumplings, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Fried Tofu and Chinese Sausage Fried rice. Everything came out fresh and hot and the serving size of each dish was just right. My favorite out of the four was the Honey Walnut Shrimp. It was crispy and the sauce was not so sweet. The fried rice and tofu is good and my least favorite was the dumpling because the filling ratio to the wrap wasn't enough in my opinion. We arrived when they opened at around 11am. It was nice coming early because it wasn't busy. We received a coupon in the mail for "buy one dumpling and get one dumpling or potsticker for free." There's seating indoor only which we enjoyed because it was hot outside. The service was quick to get the food. I did have to go to the front to request more water. Turns out they were on their phones. Unfortunately it was very warm water. We ordered the onion pancake, vegetable and pork, dumpling, corn, and chicken, potstickers, shao mai, and har gaw, and Chinese sausage fried rice. They served vinegar with soy sauce and garlic as well as chili oil. Honestly I wasn't impressed by the food. The pancakes were hard. The fried rice was clumpy and gooey. The Pork & Chive Dumplings were fine; they were just lukewarm and didn't seem fresh. The Chinese Sausage Fried Rice was nothing special. The Fried Pumpkin, which is an appetizer, came last after we had already finished everything. We should've just cancelled the order because it wasn't worth the wait. The best thing we had was the bbq pork bao, which our toddler devoured. Service wasn't that great. Even though it wasn't busy, it took a while for them to give us a menu, take our order, and receive our check. There was a wait between each plate, which came one at a time. I really really wanted to give this place a good review. I was hoping that I found a dumpling food closer home instead of driving to different towns. Xiao long bao pork. I was pretty upset that these taste like they are mass production purchased very processed and they just steamed it.. if let's say theyre made in house. The wrapping of the skin was way too thick and chalky. Chili wontons- very bland. Not much chili on there and the wrapping was not soft very hard. Shui Mai- tasted very processed as well not necessarily the best.. but didn't taste too bad.. Chicken chow mein- the veggies were very under cooked and barely any chicken or taste to the noodles.. pretty bland. Honey walnut prawns- the taste was there and it tasted good.. just the batter on the shrimp was very thick and didn't have much of a crunch to it.. Scallion/onion pancake- this has to be the worst dish.. the pancake was very doey and not crispy what so ever. This dish is usually light, flaky and crispy.. not worth $10 for this what so ever!! We liked everything but we particularly enjoyed the house made beef dumplings the most due to the soft chewy wrapper. I ordered a hot soy milk and it came hot in a plastic cup. I suggest hot drinks should be placed in paper cups or other heat resistant materials. They also have house-made chili oil and dumpling sauce. Saw an ad on Instagram with the Dumpling Home's original owner--78-years young, as she put it--and promptly made lunch plans to check out this Fairfield location of a classic Davis offering. Walking in, the space felt very new, the booths seemed cozy enough and the tables are compact--helping contribute to a social air, but also encouraging me to pop in headphones as I was practically dining together with my neighbors. I ordered the Beijing Beef noodle bowl and the crab Xiao Long Bao. The food was good, although the timing on serving the XLB meant they were a little cool/hardening even on first bite. There also was no spoon, which is usually necessary for the piping hot soup dumplings. The noodles started pretty plain, most of the veggies and protein found it's way to the bottom of the bowl on stirring. But as I worked through the bowl and added some chili crisp, a side of kimchi (which was excellent), and some of the XLB dipping sauce, it became a flavorful bite. One area for growth was timing on service, and communication. This is a common-enough challenge for new restaurants, but it did feel as if the staff were still getting their sea legs. The couple next to me placed an order but, 15+ minutes later and other tables served before them, complained and left. Even my modest order came out separately, with the problems of timing mentioned above for the XLB. Still, it's nice to get some tasty noodles in Solano County. I ordered Hawaii chicken/shrimp fried rice and bbq pork Bao (buns). The rice had a nice smoky flavor which I imagine comes from the use of a well-seasoned and broken-in wok which I love. Reminds me of an old-school restaurant we used to order from. Yum. However the rice also came with small pieces of raw cabbage (although I'm not sure why). Maybe the current problems with green onions affected the decision to use cabbage. The worse thing though was the large, thick chunks of what I believe was pineapple. I've never had pineapple that wasn't sweet so I'm not sure. If it had been sweet it would have been a wonderful accompaniment to the smoky rice flavor. Ingredients for their dishes aren't listed on the menu which is disappointing especially if people have allergies. The buns had a wonderful flavor but the bbq filling was scarce. The gentleman working the register was on the phone when I arrived. However a lady bagging orders nearby acknowledged me and said that guy would be right with me. He spent a few minutes on the phone and when he hung up he asked what I ordered. No greeting or thank you for waiting. Located downtowm Fairfield across the county building with plenty of street parking.They have a to go kiosk in the front,but we decided to dine in. We ordered a couple of things to try and surprisingly the food didn't take too long. Keep in mind any dumpling you order will take at least 10 mins to come. I love the vegetable pancake and pork steam bao for appetizers. Beef dumpling was amazing. We tried chocolate bao for dessert it was okay probably not my favorite. We visited around four pm before the crowd started coming in for dinner and we were seated promptly. We saw people prepping the dumplings in the back so I knew that they were fresh. We ordered dumplings and pot stickers of Chicken & shrimp since my family is picky, along with the har gow, chocolate bao, and walnut shrimp. I liked all the dumplings, the textures and the flavors. Nothing was too overpowering and the walnut shrimp tasted so delicious. The dumpling sauce was typical but the hot chili oil didn't have much flavor. I was quite hungry, so my boyfriend and I ordered the pork xiao long bao, hargow, pork and chive potstickers, night market fried chicken, and I got a hot soy milk to wash it all down with. ***Pork Xiao Long Bao: When it was presented to us at the table, I was...disappointed. It appeared to be the store-bought XLB and even tasted like it. The telltale sign was that the pleats looked machine-made and not in the handmade pleats. It looked too uniform. The skin is thick. The taste was even the same as the ones I buy at the store. It's good, but definitely not worth the money when I can buy a bag for like less than $10 and throw these in a steamer at home... charging $14 for these is crazy work. ***Hargow: I also have a sneaking suspicion that these may also be store bought. It tastes similar to the ones I buy and make at home. They're still good and have a nice bounce when you bite into it. ***Pork and Chive Dumplings: These were really tasty! The filling to wrapping ration was perfect. They were browned for a nice crunch. I think these were pretty worth. ***Night Market Fried Chicken: Pretty tasty and seasoned well with a 5-spice powder, white pepper and chili powder. Upon walking in, there were a few parties waiting to be seated. We requested a table for seven, but the hostess immediately said they couldn't accommodate us. We understood the space was limited, so we asked if we could simply split into smaller tables. Instead of explaining, she repeatedly shook her head "no" and walked away, leaving us confused. Did that mean they couldn't accommodate us at all, even if we sat separately? One of our friends then asked another employee (a gentleman) for clarification, and he said seating us separately wouldn't be a problem. Right from the start, the communication was inconsistent. Once seated, it took about 20 minutes before anyone took our order, then another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Here's what we ordered: * Potstickers - They were okay, but nothing memorable. * Beijing Noodles - Had some flavor, but nothing that stood out. * Kimchi Fried Rice - Very bland and lacked flavor. * BBQ Pork Bun - Probably the best thing we ordered. Soft, flavorful, and tasty. * Shumai - Unfortunately, I've had frozen shumai from Costco that tasted better. The biggest issue was the overall service and organization. The restaurant felt chaotic from beginning to end. At one point, a food runner walked around asking nearly every table if they had ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao. No one claimed it. She then kept asking the waitress where Table 9 was because that's who had apparently ordered it, and the waitress repeatedly responded, "I don't know." That pretty much summed up how disorganized everything felt. I also ordered a Starry soda. The waitress looked confused and told me they didn't serve it. I pointed to the menu where it was clearly listed, and she said she'd "check if they had it." She never came back with an answer. That seemed to be the pattern throughout the evening. Several customers ordered items that were sold out, but no one informed them. They only found out after waiting a long time and asking where their food was. To make matters worse, one person in our group never received their meal. When they finally asked about it, the food runner told them the order had never been entered. Our waitress never wrote anything down because she said she could remember everything "by heart." Unfortunately, that didn't work out. Overall, the customer service needs significant improvement. The lack of communication, long wait times, and disorganization overshadowed an average meal. The food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't worth the experience. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. We just tried this place and they are quiet pricey and the quality for us (family) was not quiet pleasing. The Hawaiin Fried rice were too oily and tasted like Fish or fishy smell, so we tried and order another Friedrice which is the chinese sausage fries rice- hoping it will be better since no shrimp. Again, it was so oily and it has that fisht taste, or tasted like they used the oil over and over again, so we ended up not eating it - we only had 3 spoonfool of it. the shumai and xiao long bao were salty and the fried tofu had no taste at all. The Honey walnut prawn were onpoint though. Their service though were good. The servers are very accomodating and always makae sure we didnt need anything. We had ordered the vegetable egg rolls, fried green onion bread, pork and vegetable potstickers, wonton soup, orange chicken, and steam rice. Everything was so good and filling. Wanted to see what all the hype was about with this place it was actually rather disappointed. Party of four on a Friday at 5:30 waited around 30 minutes. While sitting at the table, we must've killed around 5 to 6 flies. Not the best way to start. We felt as far as cleanliness went it could be better. And really need to do something about having a lot of flies buzzing around while you're eating. We ordered a few few different steamed dumplings to try. The Bao Bao barbecue steam buns. Were mostly bread the inside filling had very little. Meat the bread ratio was very slim. The majority of the potstickers we ordered were steamed upon picking them up. They just fell apart. We ordered some vegetable ones two of us like them two of us did not. We also ordered the wonton soup. The broth was extremely bland had no flavor and the wontons tasted just like ginger with a little bit of pepper. We waited an incredibly long time for this food. From beginning to end, we're in the restaurant for over two hours. We felt the service was not very good. Initially, nobody came back to see if we needed anything else additional dipping sauces how the food was. Until pretty much near the end of the meal. Two of us had to go to the restroom and thought that the restrooms were rather dirty. Just the fact that they're making the dumplings in the back of the restaurant and we can see them and the flies are buzzing around like this kind of grosses me out. They really need to do something about the cleanliness. Maybe some of the fried food or some of the Chinese food they serve has better flavor but honestly, we all felt the same that it was maybe a five out of 10. hopefully they'll see these reviews and maybe be able to do something about what's going on there otherwise, if I was you, I would stay away from this place. Our favorites were the pork xiao long bao, garlic edamame, green beans, orange chicken, and the dessert man tou with condensed milk. Our girls ordered the vegetable bao (pan fried), but would love them better if they offered a pork pan fried bao. Hubby liked the kimchi pork dumplings, but said he would get them pan fried next time (instead of steamed). I like supporting small, local businesses but our overall experience here was mid. I warn you that I'm a foodie and I've had a lot of phenomenal dumplings in my life, so I have a basis for comparison. First, the service: They were absolutely slammed and clearly not able to keep up with the quantity of customers. We showed up around 5:45, but we didn't leave until 8 p.m. We didn't mind waiting 30 minutes for a table, but it took a long time for each course to come, and often they'd forget to bring things (spoons for the wonton soup, fresh plates when switching to dessert). Our server seemed frazzled and unable to keep up (we weren't asked if we needed anything until over an hour in, and that was by the manager, not our server), and at one point, we had to get up to get someone's attention (when we had no spoons for the soup). We were also given a dirty bowl that we had to send back. They were taking a LOT of takeout orders, so I suspect they were struggling to stay on top of the diners in the restaurant. Next, the cleanliness: Let me be direct: the restaurant wasn't clean. I get it, I do. They were crazy busy and clearly understaffed. But we had to kill about 10 flies where we were sitting by the window, and the windowsill was full of dead bugs (and not only the ones we killed). The bathrooms also weren't clean. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the kitchen. Finally, the food: The wonton soup was bad. The broth had no flavor, like they dumped chunks of ginger into lukewarm tap water. We ate a selection of steamed dumplings and bao. With the bao, the ratio of bread to filling was off--far too much bread, and not enough filling. Our BBQ Pork buns were 80% bread. The red bean buns also lacked filling--there was a hollow space in the middle, as if they'd been in a hurry and hadn't filled them all the way/properly. The chicken and corn dumplings had good flavor, but they were so overcooked all the wrappers were falling off. It felt like food that was good in concept, but not well executed (maybe they were just too busy to keep up, I don't know). The water brought to the table also had a metallic taste, like hose water. If the business owner reads this, I recommend filtering the water or offering bottled water for purchase. It's a shame, because I read good things about this restaurant and I was eager to try it. With some effort, I'm sure the food and experience could be improved. Maybe try them on a less busy day than we did. read more

We just ate here for the first time and I'm already planning my next visit! The food was so good, hot and fresh! There were only two of us but we ordered 3 dishes, the fried chicken appetizer, pork kimchi potstickers and the shrimp soup dumplings! The servings were large and I was thinking we'd have leftovers, but it was so good and, clearly, we were hungry, so we ate it all.
