Food was great and so was the service. Got seated fast and what ever we ordered came out timely.

The only thing that upsets me about Hot Stone, is the fact that it took me almost 6 years to try it out. Had dinner on a Friday night with my husband and son. We did the AYCE and I definitely got my money's worth. The service was courteous and prompt. The ambiance was typical for a K-BBQ spot- the open floor plan makes for a slightly louder place, but at least the music was not blasting so loudly that conversation was hindered. The menu has meat and other dishes that can be ordered a la carte, if all you can eat is not your thing. (Or if you don't want to have to grill your own meat.) We ordered: -Pork belly (regular, thin sliced, and soy garlic. All great, but the thin sliced has always been my favorite). -Marinated beef (tasty). -LA ribs (well marinated and not too salty). -Bulgogi and the Hawaiian bulgogi (the Hawaiian was good and I like the pineapple chunks to grill,, but preferred the regular because it was less sweet). -Shrimp (head and shell on, be prepared to peel and de-vein after grilling). -Marinated baby octopus (one of my son's favorite things he had there). Some highlights that will bring me back: -Sliced pickled radish to wrap the meat for a low carb option. -Glutinous rice paper to wrap the meat (nice and chewy texture, great touch to the marinated meat). -ALL of the banchan was spot on. Zingy kimchi, firm broccoli, not too sweet fishcakes, and seasoned bean sprouts were among our faves. -Last but not least, the crispy chicken wings. Crispy like Korean fried chicken should be with delicious sauces (we tried the sweet and spicy, and the soy garlic). Worth it to come back just for that. The meat options here are great, and the marinated selections are solid. I'm usually not a big fan of marinated raw meat, but this place really delivers on flavor. The Premium AYCE option also includes a good amount of seafood, which made a great impression on me. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Even though they have a QR code system to order meat, they still check on the table regularly to see if we need anything, which I appreciated. They offer two AYCE options: Premium and Supreme. I was a little disappointed that the cold buckwheat noodles are only included with the Supreme option. Since our group chose the Premium option, and I was really curious to try the noodles, I ended up ordering them separately for an additional $6. Unfortunately, they lacked flavor and weren't really worth the extra charge for me. One thing I wanted to mention: when we were first seated, the table next to us was being cleared and cleaned. The staff sprayed the cleaning solution while we were already eating our banchan, and some of the spray ended up hitting my friend's face. That threw us off a bit. It might help to be a little more mindful of the spraying radius, especially since the tables are fairly close together. Overall, I'll be coming back. I actually like this place better than the other KBBQ spot nearby because the atmosphere feels more cozy and homey. The price was reasonable and the overall experience was great. I enjoy the QR code to be able to place more order for rounds and how quickly it comes to the table. We came just in time because this place is usually packed and busy. This restaurant has a choice of orders or all you can eat. Most of the food you have to cook yourself. There is background music playing with a ballgame on the television screen. Every 5 to 8 minutes, a staff would come by to pick up dirty plates. The reason why I am leaving a 3 star is towards the end when the waitress assumed I was finished and wanted to bring my check without asking me then she got pushy and insisted on me leaving a tip. Keep in mind the food is fresh and I did enjoy it but I didn't enjoy on how I was treated. Besides the rudeness of that waitress the food & overall experience was pleasant. I order (spicy noodle soup) last week and they completely forgot the red paste so it was just cold noodles soup... today we ordered spicy noodle soup and the cook or prepper mixed the red paste in with the soup... that is not how you are suppose to serve this dish. We came to Hot Stone Korean Kitchen on a Friday around 12, and it wasn't too busy, so we were seated immediately. It's quite spacious inside and nice clean and bright with a lot of windows. We were given an array of banchan, and then given a QR code to order off of for AYCE - I love that you can choose which banchan you want refilled, and there's a good variety of proteins, veggies, and sides like corn cheese and tteokbokki that you can get. The service was quick, and we received what we ordered on the app pretty quickly after submitting each order. We did end up getting a plate of meat that we didn't order by accident, and it's a little hard to keep track of what you've ordered/received already but this wasn't too big of an issue. We did also order some cold noodles to go with our bbq, which was an extra charge - while delicious I'd probably just stick to the AYCE menu next time since it was more than enough variety and quantity and we ended up not able to finish the cold noodles. I've been once before for the all you can eat and that was very fun. This review is for take out - bibimbap bowl. Interior is very nice - they've put a lot of work into the restaurant and it shows. The staff were very nice and offered free ice creams to my kids while we waited. The bowls were tasty, fun variety of ingredients but it was light on the meat and the meat was lukewarm. Came with extra banchan and the kimchi was so delicious. They even gave us small serving of the kimchi soup and the miso soup. Kimchi soup was my favorite of the two. Price was almost $20 for the bowl which is pretty pricy but hey, I'm eating fresh food and lots of veggie. Overall I would probably skip doing take out again and plan to come back to dine in for the all you can eat. Seems better value I think. Pancakes are the best!!! I always get the seafood pancake. All of the pancakes are good but I am drawn to seafood. The batter is light and crispy mixed with an assortment of veggies and seafood. I especially like the dipping sauce. It is not too sweet and gives the pancake a nice umami kick. I also like the kalbi. The short ribs are cooked medium well and there is just a hint of sweetness from the marinade. The ribs come with rice. Overall, I enjoy the noms here and will return for more. read more

This is our go to place for Korean BBQ in the area. I love the selection of meat from spicy beef belly to pork belly to bulgogi to shrimp to muscles to wagyu beef. They also have cheese corn and japchae and lots of banchan selections such as kimchi, fish cake, broccoli and more. There's something for everyone so if like French fries, veggies & fried chicken and soups you can get that too. They are great at servicing even large tables. We celebrated my son's birthday and they allowed us to bring our cake and provided a sparkler candle. We love going here for dinner and lunch and consider ourselves regulars. read more

The food was good, but the service completely ruined the experience. We came as a party of 13, and unfortunately, the service was incredibly disappointing. I understand gratuity was already included, but that shouldn't mean we get ignored. Our server barely checked in on us -- didn't ask if we needed more meats, water, or side dishes. When we tried to place additional orders, she wouldn't even stay long enough to hear the full request. For such a large group, the lack of attention and care was unacceptable. I haven't been here in years & finally came back & the food is amazing as ever. I have done the Ayce(All you can eat) & per plate items & both fills you up & leaves you satisfied. The staff is tentative. When you need assistance there is a call button on each of the table to notify a server. The interior of the restaurant has a cool party atmosphere to it, the indoor mural is breathtaking & looks like it was created all in chalk. The restaurant does get pretty loud in here from the music & chatter from people, so I don't recommend if you are noise sensitive, but if you do want to go bring headphones. Beef short ribs 10/10 The beef short ribs were super tender & have a good amount of fat & meat in each slice. Dolsot bibimbap 8/10 The dolsot bibimbap were good, the rice was crispy & the veggies were yummy, the chicken was a bit dry but couldn't really do anything since the food was served in a hot bowl that keeps the food hot. Banchans 10/10 The banchans were delicious. My favorite was the broccoli, fishcake and cucumber. Hot Stone Korean Kitchen was the first AYCE Korean bbq place I've had in Fairfield. Came here for dinner with family and I actually really enjoyed the food. When we first were seated we didn't get much attention as we were ready to order but our table didn't have a buzzer nor did the server come over. We had to wave down a server and from there it was easier since we were able to order online each round. The meat was actually really good. We haven't visited Hot Stone in over four years. The last visit was not the best, not to mention they were in a transition period from an a la carte menu to an AYCE Korean BBQ menu. The catch was that their food was really good. Well, we were in the area so I stopped by and went in to ask if they still have a la carte options, with Soondubu being the most important item. The man at the podium said they do, but if anyone at the table orders AYCE, everyone at the table has to order it. With that I got my wife and teenager out of the car and got seated immediately. The place has been remodelled and redecorated since my last visit. The atmosphere is very appropriate for the genre of food offered. On to the food... the Bonchon included a good variety, but they no longer offer my favourite, which of course is japchae; I asked and they said it's now an appetizer offered only by ordering it off the menu. Bummer. But the kimchi, zucchini, potatoes, and such were all good. The item that was off the charts was the Spicy Pork Bulgogi; it was DELICIOUS!!! The very spicy pork Soondubu was very good as was the medium spicy version. The other menu change that is a major drag is that they don't offer mix rice (purple rice) anymore, only white rice. After getting seated, the service was hit and miss. And the pricing is definitely on the higher side. When we're in the area in the future we may visit again; but there are places in the Sacramento area that are a better value in my opinion. read more

This spot is the only AYCE KBBQ in Fairfield. If you come during lunch hours, you have the option to pay the lunch price or upgrade for the dinner menu, which has dinner-only items. There is also an a-la-carte menu, which doesn't involve self-grilling, but we always do the buffet. Pork cheek - consistently good quality. We start cooking with this pork to add flavor and fat to the grill in preparation for the next meat. Brisket - nice beef-to-fat ratio to give a nice crispy texture when cooked well done. Marinated short rib (kalbi) - nice flavor and goes great when paired with kimchi and rice. Marinated beef - inconsistent cuts so cooking times will vary. We find the best taste when cooked right between medium and medium rare. Ribeye - not marinated, so we add the provided salt and pepper seasoning and let it rest a few minutes before grilling. Garlic was added during cooking for extra flavor. Mussel - basic, natural seafood flavor. Nice change of pace from all the pork and beef. Butter shrimp - grilling in butter helps prevent the shrimp from burning. Corn cheese - exactly as stated. We add to the rice and salad to help balance the meat consumption. Steamed egg - fluffy, soft, and tasty. Be ready to grill your food. Pay attention to the flame level, adjust as necessary, and keep an eye on what's on the grill. If you notice the grill buildup, request another grill, else cooking will be ineffective due to a smaller heating area. Scissors are provided to cut the meats to edible portions. Service will vary if it gets busy. The staff does its best to be responsive. There may be times when you have to request for your server multiple times via the red button on the table before help arrives. Ambiance is casual. Music is above-average loud so you may need to speak louder with your party to have a conversation. TVs usually show sports, but TV audio is silenced due to the restaurant's main music. Prices are fair for the area. If you live in Solano County, KBBQ choices are limited. You can go to Concord for alternatives, but gas, bridge toll, and time will all factor into the experience. Tried Hot Stone for the first time and was impressed! There was a 30 min wait time on a Saturday night, which wasn't too bad. The parking lot is a bit small but spots open up here and there. The meat came out quick after ordering. My favorite would have to be the brisket. Unfortunately they were already out of glass noodles so we opted to get some soup and potstickers which were great. I recommend getting the lettuce on the side to make lettuce wraps! I love that they had their sauce bottles on the table so you can refill your trays whenever you run out. Service was a bit lacking due to how busy it was. There's a button on the table to get help but it didn't really work for us. We pressed it twice and nobody came to help us. First time trying hot stone. We chose it because of the proximity from our place. We usually go to Concord whenever we want to have korean bbq. Price- this is where a would deduct a star. It is the most expensive among all three korean bbq places we know. There is lesser meat selection than the other two. Place - parking space can be a challenge on a busy night. There is probably only 15 reserved spots. The inside layout is similar to a regular restaurant. I like their exhaust system, it doesnt get smokey inside. Quality- this is also a 5 star for me. I was impressed with the flavor of their meats and of their side dishes. I actually had two rounds of side dishes just for myself. The meat quality are also impressive. Service- hit or miss.
