The places just opened when I came in a few days ago so I was the first customer. Their restrooms are at the back by the kitchen, it's just one hallway so you won't miss it. Food wise, my soup was great, paired with rice. They only have white rice. As for their sides, I enjoyed most of it but the kimchi and raddish were overly fermented. After a long day of afternoon golf my friends and I decided on dinner as nearby Tang Jip. One of my friends frequents this restaurant as he works close by in Walnut Creek. Parking near the restaurant is more than ample so it was quite easy. The restaurant itself was quite crowded for a Sunday evening. Eventually the crowd moved on. Service was excellent and the food was very good. We ordered the seafood pancake, an army stew and a double order of the pork belly. My only complaints are the army stew seemed lacking in terms of meat and the seafood pancake lacked in the amount of seafood. The pork belly on the other hand was the most excellent. The ban chan was also limited to 5 items only. I am curious of some of the other dishes and would not mind checking them out at a later time. read more

Since they are open all day Tang Jip catches all the overflow. During our lunch they were at least 50% full. Their staff including the robot was trying to keep up with all the orders. The menu has most of the Korean classic items. I love this place! It's in the Park-N-Shop plaza with a bunch of other Korean restaurants but I feel like it's just a solid lunch/dinner choice. Definitely can be a wait during weekend dinner times too. I believe this is owned by Ohgane KBBQ but they don't offer AYCE, just a variety of other Korean dishes like soondubu, seolleongtang, ddukbokki, and bbq plates. The service is quick, friendly and there's a robot that comes out to help with food too. There's a good variety of bonchon and prices are average for the area. Concord used to have a handful of Korean restaurants back in the late 90s, but the Park & Shop complex now has three! Among them, Tang Jip has easily become our favorite. Korean cuisine is not limited to barbecue, and that is what Tang Jip represents. They have tang, jjim, jjigae, myeon, and more. Japchae - It's really difficult not to try some of those chewy and delicious sweet potato noodles! This had a good balance between the sugar and the soy flavors and had the right amount of sesame oil. It also had wood-ear mushrooms so we really enjoyed the chewy texture of this dish. Soon Tofu (Soondubu) and LA Galbi Combo - This was the first combo dish that we tried here and it was very good especially for the price. The beef ribs were well-marinated and were grilled medium-well while the soft tofu stew was flavorful. Perfect way to try two dishes right away. We wanted to get the Naengmyeon and LA Galbi Combo, but the japchae already took care of our noodle craving. Bossam - One of the reasons we love Tang Jip is because they have small portions of bossam (boiled pork belly) and jokbal (braised pork trotters) in their menu. Since it was just my wife and me who ate the first time we went here, we decided to go with the bossam. The pork belly was thinly sliced and had a very small amount of fat. It was already tasty, but the accoutrements it came with - radish (both the sweet and the spicy salad), garlic/jalapeño, lettuce, ssamjang, and the salted shrimp - made this even more enjoyable. We tried a lot of combinations wrapping the pork and it was best with the musaengchae (spicy radish salad), garlic, and the ssamjang. We ended up getting the Naengmyeon and LA Galbi Combo on our next visit and their Bibim Naengmyeon (spicy cold buckwheat noodles) was very refreshing on a hot summer day. We also got to try a small serving of their Jokbal and I liked this more than the bossam because it was cooked with the skin on and the gelatinous texture was amazing. It was also more aromatic and had a richer flavor. The Garlic Bossam was fine, but I preferred fresh garlic over the garlic paste. We've been back a few more times with our daughters and son-in-law and also with our friends. Service has always been very friendly and accommodating. The place is clean and roomy so there's more wiggle room for everyone. Maybe the parking can be a bit of a challenge at times, but we've always enjoyed coming here. It would have been great if we had Tang Jip when we lived near the area, but it will always be a good reason to swing by this neck of the woods occassionally. read more

The tofu soup wasn't very impressive, I found the depth of flavor in the broth was lacking. It wasn't as spicy as I'd hoped it'd be, even though I ask for it extra extra spicy. I would love to come back and try their other stews, it seems like a popular place. The service was great and they have the robots that come out with the food. Tang Jip is one of those restaurants where you crave a specific dish that you can't find just anywhere, for me, it's the rosé tteok-boki. Craving satisfied as of now. We also ordered items that I haven't tried yet, which were pretty good & I'd definitely get again: 1) kimchi pancake 2) chicken bulgogi I was initially worried that the chicken would be dry, but it was great! The kimchi pancake was delicious as well, especially with their dipping sauce. As for service, they usually have two guys taking orders, so there is sometimes a wait -- Especially for today, a Friday night. Additionally, there seems to be some operational work for the restaurant to look into: One customer came in right before us and they happened to add themselves to the Yelp Waitlist, however, when you arrive, there is also a paper waitlist being maintained. So this made it quite confusing for both the host and customer around when to slot them in for a seat. Fortunately, several tables opened up. I do like this restaurant! Saw this place today after trying Korea house down the way last week. Everything looked really nice inside and they have a cool little robot that helps the servers carry your order to you. We ordered one of the combos, the tofu soup and bulgogi along with an order of bimbimbap. Usually, the bimbimbap is served on a ripping hot plate so that it can form a nice crunchy bottom from the rice. This rice came in pretty wet. Therefore no crunchy bottom . The bulgogi is also usually suppose to come in ripping hot as well. Well, this one came in warm. They may have some other orders that were better, but I think we came in on an "off" day and it just didn't live up to the hype the decor brought to the place. read more

I want to preface this review by saying I normally LOVE Tang Jip and will likely continue to visit. However I am unfortunately leaving this review as my experience picking up an online order today was absolutely unacceptable. I had came in and waited by the host table near the entrance for about 2 minutes without any greeting (totally fine as it seemed it was just 2 people working the dining room) Finally, a female waitress with blonde hair came to acknowledge me, and this is unfortunately the part that is causing me to leave this review. Her initial greeting was an extremely deadpan "hello.." with no smile or expression. When I told her I was here to pickup an order, her response was a snappy "what?". So I repeated myself and showed her the receipt on my phone. She then said "okay, well it's over there" and rather than simply going over to get the order for me, pointed to the kitchen counter and had me walk over there to get this. As I was leaving and walked by her (and believe me, she definitely saw me), she then said nothing, no "thank you" or "have a nice day" or anything else. If I could, I would leave a 1/5 star purely for this one employee as I feel her customer service mindset is absolutely lacking, if not outright disrespectful. This completely soured the pickup experience and I would not want this person to be my server if I were to dine-in. Aside from this, I do think that all the other staff are typically very kind and attentive, and my dine in experiences been much more pleasant, so I would still recommend Tang Jip to a friend. read more

I was craving for Korean cold noodles and they had one of the best deals I've seen in a while. LA Galbi Jim + cold noodles for &32.95 is a steal. Their Galbi Jim was great, properly marinated and with a nice char on it. Pairing that with the refreshing cold noodles, makes it one hell if a combo for hot summer days. My friend was picking me up and as a favor to him, I wanted to treat him out to dinner. We wanted to try something new, and relying on the awesome app that is Yelp, this place popped up for us. Located in the Park and Shop of Concord, there is ample parking in the parking lot. They are on the side of 85 Bakery and Tasty Pot. There was a lot of seating, so we were able to sit down right away. Besides the regular waiter, there was also a robot that brought us our meal, which I found entertaining. The Bon Chon consisted of Broccoli, Kim Chi, Pickled Bok Choy, Fishcakes, and Pickled Daikon. All were good, with my favorite being the first three. For my meal, I got the Tofu Soup combo with Entree, which I opted for Chicken Bulgogi. We also shared a Green Onion Pancake appetizer. Green Onion Pancake: I forgot the name for this in Korean, but this is one delicious and crispy pancake. Normally, I prefer the kim chi one, but my friend persuaded me to get the green onion one and I am glad I did. There was quite a bit of flavor in this, and the sauce made it complete. It was tangy and sweet, a perfect dipping sauce for the food. Soondobu + Chicken Bulgogi: The combo they have is a rather good deal. It is enough food for one person and gives you the best of both Korean BBQ and the Hot Tofu Soup. I got medium spicy, which was just the right amount of heat for me. And the chicken bulgogi was very delicious as well. Though, I wish it could have a bit more of spiciness or some sort of sauce. Still, I enjoyed it overall. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes and we opted for the steamed dumplings as an appetizers, soondubu jiggae, and yukgaejang. The seafood soondubu had a good amount of shrimp, calamari strips, and clams in it. It was spicy but not overwhelming. The chicken bulgogi had good flavor, but the meat was on the dry side. I tried some of the spicy pork and beef bulgogi and they both were flavorful. Portions were moderate for the price. Service we received was alright. The staff were friendly, responsive, and prompt. Overall, I thought this place is decent for NorCal standard. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Honestly amazing food. The food was flavorful, had a kick, and left me satisfied. The rose rice cakes were pretty spicy, I wish it came with more bacon because there was like no meat I think they could've added a bit more. The meat was tender and the cheese really breaks from the spice. I loved the glass noodles and onions, really gave lots of different textures. Service was a bit slow. To be fair, there was only one server and there were 3 tables (including us) for lunch, forgot a few items but its okay I understand how it is to be a bit short staffed. We loved our first experience at Tang Jip and decided to head back with the family for round two! Unfortunately a lot of the food just fell short this time around. This is nothing like our first experience over a year ago. Service and ambiance were still roughly the same, but a lot of the food was just subpar this time. I'm not sure if we came on an off day or at a weird time (early dinner, around 4-5pm on a Saturday), but even food that we loved the first time around (like the seafood pajeon) was way less enjoyable this time around. We also tried a number of new items, in particular two people had beef soup and this was VERY bland. It was not only lacking salt (which is fine because you can add your own), it's just clear that they did not use enough bones to make the broth or did not allow it to simmer long enough to get full extraction. It was literally like subtlly-flavored beef water, which is not at all how Korean galbitang is supposed to be. It's supposed to be rich, deep with extracted flavor, and complex - it wasn't any of those things. We also had the kimchi soondubu and had exactly the same issue. It was brought out not as it typically is - which is still with a rolling boil. Overall, while we still enjoyed the atmosphere, the food is a far cry from our last trip a year ago. I'm not sure what happened, but that's a shame. We likely will not be returning any time soon. read more

Located in the same strip mall as 99 Ranch. Interior is pretty simple and clean. We were seated immediately on a weekend afternoon. Service is fast-- and their little service robots are funny to watch meandering about. ROSÉ TTEOK-BOKKI (requested no bacon): This. Is. INSANE. Like they mixed vodka pasta with rice cakes. The way the creamy sauce coats each QQ noodle is divine. If it weren't so heavy I could eat this again and again ;u; Large portions-- definitely to share. OX BONE TANG: The epitome of comfort food. So flavorful and savory, with thread-like thin noodles. Has that silky collagen texture without being too thick. This was perfect for a cold winter day. It came with a container of rice, green onions, sides of banchan like fishcake, broccoli, kimchi and soy sauce pickled onion, the smallest serving of noodles and bone broth. The portion of broth was perfect with the rice but the amount of noodles was comical, it was about a soup spoon full of noodles. They provided banchan but failed to provide salt and pepper. Their kimchi is on the saltier side. Seollangtang needs to be dressed up to your preferences or else it'll be on the bland side. A few slices of thin beef brisket was given as well. Definitely not the best Seollantang or take out I've had. The price was steep for the meal. Would recommend ordering something else if you do opt for take out. Ordering however was easy. But I had to ask the waiter for napkins since it's not provided at the table. Rice cake that comes with galbi jim was soggy. Perhaps overcooked them. The flavor was on the sweet side. Kimchi here is also sweet, which I'm not used to. Overall I enjoyed the food but I prefer a different flavor elsewhere.
