California Roll
Jonathan S.

It's been quite some time since I've been to Teriyaki House, but I have had a craving for some teriyaki beef for a while, so this last Friday, I came to get lunch take out to satisfy my craving. To me, their best deals are their Lunch Special or their All Day Special Bento Boxes for the biggest bang for your buck. The lady that took my order was very pleasant. My order was prepared fairly quickly and I was out the door in about 10 or so minutes after placing my order. There a some tables inside and a couple outside where you can dine in, but I noticed most people do takeout. Food wise, like I said above, the All Day Special Bento Boxes are the biggest bang for your buck as there is plenty of food for the price. Bento Box A ($13.99) is what I ordered which comes with Teriyaki Chicken (beef, pork, shrimp add $3; salmon add $5), Gyoza (2 pcs), Steamed Vegetables, Steamed Rice, California Roll (4 pcs) and Miso Soup. The teriyaki had good flavor and has a good soy sauce to sweetness ratio. The steamed vegetables has a salt and pepper flavor. The gyoza were decent, better when eaten hot. The miso soup had some piece of tofu, seaweed and green onions in it with decent miso flavor. The California roll was tasty and comes with sushi Ginger and a dab of wasabi on the side and a packet of soy sauce. Overall, this a nice place to get decent teriyaki for an affordable price as their portion size is fairly generous.

Very friendly make good suggestions. Had the famous hearty homemade beef ramen a little bit spicy. Side of shrimp tempura. Chicken teriyaki. Moist garlic seasoning. Yum. Clean restaurant.

The lunch special today (Monday). Chicken teriyaki with gyoza.

Consistency for years with no fall off. And that is because at least one owner is onsite every day.

My favorite roll here is the Dragon roll. It's really a nice sized roll. It's the perfect balance of sweetness, crunch and umami. We tried the agedashi tofu. Next time I would ask them not to but bonito flakes on it, but that's just my personal preference. It was well fried and pillowy soft as well as crunchy. The sauce was really tasty. The salmon carpaccio was okay. Next time I would ask they not add the truffle oil. I felt like it took away from the flavor a bit. The radish micro greens were a nice spicy touch. We also tried a new roll this time, the climax roll. It was good. Spicy, sweet and crunchy. Again it was a nice sized roll. We love this spot and we come to eat here whenever we are in the area.

The setup was pretty interesting with tables on the side and a conveyor belt with the center where the chefs are working and seating lined around that. The staff were kind and helpful in explaining how it all worked being that it was all you can eat. First, there is a menu where you can place orders with the staff for things like appetizers and drinks. We got some sodas and ordered items such as edamame, miso soup and grilled salmon teriyaki. Then in the center where the conveyor belt is, you can walk around to it and pick up plates that you want to try. It mostly seemed like nigiri and rolls that they were commonly making. In the center, the chef station is between the conveyor belt area and there you can order more specific items you want to try like a roll, sashimi or handrolls. We chose to order some different sashimi like salmon and yellowtail and handrolls like the spider and alaska. They also make a bunch of extra dishes that you can take off the shelf as well. For the price and the experience, we thought it was very enjoyable from the multitude of options to the freshness of the items.

Scallops Appetizers Fried Ube - crispy tempura batter and the soft textured purple yam. yummy on its own or with sauce Takoyaki - had a nice crispy outside and still gooey yum inside.. not many places can keep that crispness Hamachi tacos were good just small Chicken kara-age was good Sushi rolls Fish on fire and golden gate were both yummy. Tonkatsu Ramen - my husband loved the broth but wish the noodles were better. Great service. You can order thru the app screen at the table or directly with waitress. We did both and ordered more thru the app. The sake selection was good. Ambience was modern and relaxing lots of parking. New area by hotel.

Fish on…read moreFire is a sister restaurant to Totto Ramen and Wasabi, so you'll notice some similarities between the apps and menu offerings. Our server, Geraldine, was amaaaazing! She's seriously the sweetest, and on top of everything from bringing the food out, refilling our drinks, checking if we needed anything without being super overbearing. It seemed like she was training some of the other servers too, so if that's the case, they're in good hands. Ika Geso - Their fried calamari has been consistently good between each of the sister restaurants. The batter is light and crispy, the squid is very tender. It's a must order for us, every time! We looove the spicy mayo it comes with for dipping. Chicken Karaage - This was good! I didn't like it much when I ordered it at Tottos, but I feel like it tasted better here and the portion was much larger. Served with kewpie and a sweet sauce, this is a good snacky item, or just something to switch off with if you're eating sushi. This isn't popcorn chicken batter by any means, but the batter wasn't too heavy and the chicken was juicy! I think the karaage would be even better with the spicy mayo, so ask for that if you would prefer a less sweet dipping sauce. Sacramento Roll - I originally was going to try the Mafia but Geraldine highly recommended the Sac roll. Similar elements but the Mafia has scallops. I went with her suggestion and it was delicious. Better than my second choice! Will definitely go back and try the Mafia next time, since it's almost the same flavor profile. Red Boy Roll - This was good but not great. It has a garlicky white sauce that isn't for me. I love garlic but I don't think I like a strong garlic flavor overpowering the rest of the flavors on my roll. It wasn't a bad roll by any means, and the rice to fish ratio was good. I just didn't love it, but if you love garlicky fish, this one might be your speed. Both rolls had spicy tuna, which usually isn't spicy for me, but I think one of the rolls may have been spicier than the other. Just FYI, from a spicy eating girl, there def was a kick that came from somewhere. Black garlic ramen - I normally love this dish at Tottos, so I recommended it to my BF to order. It ended up not being so great. The ramen broth wasn't as hot as we would like and the flavor tasted a bit off. Normally the garlic flavor is strong and the broth full bodied but the broth here didn't have the normal richness we would have liked. It was okay.. but wouldn't get this again here. Everyone is on the Wasabi hype right now, but for a less busy option, I would hit up FOF. The specialty rolls do differ between each restaurant though, so just keep that in mind. Parking lot is small but it's a low traffic area off Hwy 12, so you're not going to have an issue with parking. You can order by tablets on the table or with the waitress with real menus. Apple Pay, CC and cash all accepted!

On DoorDash the deluxe entree options with seafood like lobster and scallops are around $30. The non-deluxe options are around $20-25. The entrees come with grilled veggies and fried rice. We also ordered gyoza. Everything arrived still hot. The gyoza was still nice and crispy. The dipping sauce for the gyoza has some red pepper flakes in it so prepare for a kick. The fried rice is really flavorful and there's a lot of it. In those three compartment take out containers it fills the largest compartment. The scallops were cooked well and seasoned well. I appreciate that you have your choice of doneness for the steak. Next time I would add some miso soup or salad as sides. The entrees were good but without something fresh or soup to balance it out it started to edge on the verge of a little too salty for my taste. For a meal for two people (with leftovers) the total came out to around $66 on DoorDash. I'm sure the pricing is better in-store. I appreciate that the soda machine area appeared to be clean and tidy. Even little things like the soy sauce dispensers were shiny and clean that they brought to our table. I really wanted to like this restaurant. Everything was great, except for the food. I ordered the chicken teriyaki hibachi. The rice was flavorless and oily. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, even with the teriyaki sauce. My husband ordered the spicy tuna roll, which tasted like canned tuna mixed with spicy sauce. However, the rolls were cut in a nice bite-sized shape; not too large, not too small. The food was very mediocre.
