Finally able to enjoy this cute little homey spot. This is tucked away in the back of a strip mall off of Air base parkway. I would've never known about if my daughter didn't come here often. Food came out quick but of course the banchan was plentiful and delicious. My families favorite was the soy glazed potatoes and their kimchi. We shared a couple of soups, wings and the kimchijeon. A foodie friend, whose recommendations are always spot-on, suggested I try this place. I came by around 1 pm on a Sunday, and despite hearing that it gets super busy, it was surprisingly empty, so we got seated right away. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming! They checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. As for the food... the rave reviews are spot on! It's truly authentic Korean cuisine. They started us off with banchan (see photo), plus a cup of rice for each person. Went to this place a month ago for lunc. Place is always crowded since it is located outside an Air Force base. Food is delicious and servings are generous. The banchans have free refills so that was a pleasant surprise. We had bulgolgi both spicy and not spicy. They were both flavorful and tasty. Staff is great specially the guy that was refilling our banchans. Parking is shared by other businesses but there is plenty of parking. read more

Family dinner out on a Saturday...my brother suggested this little Korean place of the beaten path. Although we sat down to an empty restaurant.....I'm glad we got in before the crowd hit. We had a nice women who served us and brought our food to the table pretty quickly. One section is for cooking up your food bbq style and the other front section is for cooked food served to you. We were hungry.. bypassed the cooking our food idea. The front counter was away from the dinning area, so it doesnt feel like people are staring down your throat as you decide what to order and finally eat. On the table for side condiments and dishes were things like kimchi, bean sprouts, Japchae, cucumbers in chilli sauce slightly pickled, potatoes, broccholi, etc... Combo meals were korean bbq short ribs with white rice and spicy seafod/beef/tofu soup. Another combo was Bul go gi jun over white rice and spicy tofu soup. A side order of fried potstickers and a plate ao chicken fried rice. So for a family of 4 I paid around $120 (tip included). It was worth it! The portions were enough for two people to share on dish honestly. We had so much food left over and it came out quick! Ughhhh, im so sad. I really wanted to like this place and I've heard pretty good reviews from others. However, what really bothered me was the fact that there were so many mosquitos inside this restaurant. I killed three before I even ordered the food and after that I gave up with trying to kill them. I really contemplated on walking out, but I had already ordered the food. I even thought about changing locations but I saw other customers swatting the air so it wasn't the location of my seat. On top of that experience, their service was not the best. I waited more than 15 minutes before they took my order which was a bit frustrating. Its not like the restaurant was busy at the time, but I've been reading that this is a common problem they have. However, majority of the food I ordered was good. I really enjoyed the Marinated Raw Crab. It was my first time trying this and I felt like the marinade was good. I chose Medium Spice but it wasn't spicy, I could've definitely gone higher. The sauce can be overpowering so its best to eat it with rice or something else to balance it out. The Bbq Galbi was good. It was cooked very well. The Spicy Pork Bulgogi was okay. I felt like it was too sweet, and it was missing something. I actually ended up taking the rest home and cooking it with kimchi, thai chilies and a little bit of soy sauce which made it taste so much better. Overall, majority of the food was good, but I don't think that I would be giving this spot another try. It is getting colder lately so it is perfect to enjoy some soup. I got kimchi jjigae!!! My favorite Korean soup. I love making it at home and I wanted to try an authentic Korean Kimchi jjigae. It was authentic in my opinion but with a twist. It is still really good though. My friend got Tofu Dumpling soup and she loves it. She said it is not salty like other Korean spots. The service is amazing. However, at night it is kind of crowded. So be aware of that. But don't fear they will get you seated as soon as possible. The inside is amazing!!! It feels super homey. Tucked in a not so busy area of Fairfield, CA. Right across from Travis AFB. It's in, what looks like, an empty plaza with a Pizza Hut and some other shops. The parking lot is a good size but this restaurant isn't as big you might expect. The waiting area is small so if you find yourself waiting, it might be in your car. My family and I dined in on a Monday night and wow it was busy! 90% of the tables had parties. Our wait for 4 people was between 5-10 mins. So glad our wait was short. We were seated sorta of in the corner on the side and around a huge party. I'm sure our table was easily missed because I noticed a party of 4 that sat closer to the entrance and got their utensils and waters. Eventually, someone noticed us, gave us waters then a few minutes after that, we placed our order. I was nervous that we were going to be told that they ran out of certain things; which they did say they were low on banchan! Sad face. We still got some side dishes but just enough for each one of us to have a little taste. We ordered: - Seafood Pancake: This is a must get if you're a fan of seafood!!! It was cripsy, hearty and the sauce added a sweet yet lightness to the Seafood Pancake. I appreciated how not-so oily it tasted. - Bul Go Gi + Tofu Soup Combo: We opted for the Seafood Tofu Soup (mild) and wow... I could not stop eating the soup! It was so comforting and flavorful. The bulgogi was different, but in a good way. It was smokey and tender. It wasn't as sweet as I expected but I was okay with that. I liked that BBQ-ness to it. - Gal Bi + Tofu Soup Combo: My parents wanted the Seafood Tofu Soup (no spice), if you don't like spice then yea get it but i'm telling you... adding "mild" adds sooo much to this soup. Anyways. The Gal Bi, IMO, was a bit tough. Flavorful but tough. *note: their meat + soup combo is pretty good for 1-2 persons. It also comes with rice. Let's start off with that the Gal Bi is a MUST try. Them short ribs were perfect in EVER-RY-WAY! Flavorful and succulent is what first comes to mind. Definitely the highlight to our meal. We also ordered the fried rice, which is not pictured, however, it looked and tasted like steamed rice. This wasn't an issue since it was prepared well and packed with flavor from the veggies it was steamed with. The other small dishes that came with our meal was filling and enjoyable as well. The best korean food in the Vacaville/Fairfield area. Authentic family style dishes, they have the best kimchi in the area imo. The seafood pancake is our go-to dish but, honestly, everything we've tried has been delicious. This is not fast food. Sometimes it takes them a while but the food is worth it. Service is great without being overbearing. Decor is simple and spartan, reminding me of restaurants I've been in in Korea. The new owner upped the quality of food and brought delicious recipes. I gotta say this is my favorite Korean place in these parts. Here are some of my faves: Gal Bi: These ribs have lots of meat and packs lots of flavor. I've had to many ribs that looked like the cow was on a diet. These are grilled just right. Ans yes, you gotta use your hands, lol. Bulgogi: Generous portion with lots of sweet and savory goodness here. Yum! Kimchee Fried Rice: I'm not sure what makes this one my fav cause I have had it at other places. Maybe it's the Kimchee, or the SPAM. But this is one always gets ordered. Soy Fried Chicken: Crispy, check! Meaty, checks! Sweet Soy Glaze, check! They actually have a few choices for their fired chicken. Try them all! Seafood and vegetable pancakes: The sauce is what makes this one sing! It reminds me of when I was growing up and my babysitter would serve it to me. If you are fan then this is a must order. Soju: Koreana has lychees soju which is so hard to find. Try it, you may like it. The location is a bit out of the way. Just head toward Travis AFB and make the last left. It will be the 2nd shopping center on the left hand side. The lot is paved now where it used to be gravely. I suspect if they moved to a location nearer the 80 this place would get far more traffic. The interior is pretty basic. It seats maybe 50-60 people. The service is good and food comes out timely. Everything comes out hot and fresh. This is our first time trying them out and did take out option. Cashier wasn't pleasant and got ordered confused. Also, they are extremely expensive. Ordered the Bibimbap Short rib and Beef, also Fried Chicken totaled to $68!!! When I got home and open up our food..... the eggs were not cooked, I asked for over easy. I had to re-cook it and add an extra egg as it was small. Also the whole bottom rice was completely burnt and smelled bad. Horrible taste. For first impression, this was a horrible experience. "Dude where the heck are we?" "There's a Korean restaurant out here?"--The things my friend and I said when we got out of the car. Honestly, I didn't think too much of Koreana when we first drove into the parking lot. It's legit in the cuts, in a very worn down, sketchy shopping center. But looks can be deceiving, my friend and I actually had one of the tastiest, authentic korean lunches here. While they do offer table top kbbq, which btw is not AYCE, we opted to just order the ready made dishes on their menu. We ordered the soy sauce fried chicken, the spicy marinated raw crab and the galbi jjim (braised beef rib). Let me tell you, each bite we took, my friend and I would look at each other and say, "wow this is pretty good!". All the banchan had amazing flavor. The soy sauce fried chicken was crispy AF and while it was sauced, it did not get soggy. When it came to the table, I was worried it was going to be too sweet, but thank goodness it was just right. The soy sauce flavor came through. The spicy raw crab was excellent as well. Great flavor, spicy enough to have a kick but not too spicy where you're chugging water, and again--not too sweet. By the time we got to the galbi jjim, we were already getting full, but it was too good not to eat. The service we got was great! The place gives a mom & pop vibe and you can tell the workers really care about the experience you get here. The chef even came out to ask us how the food was and even warned me that galbi jjim is supposed to be sweet after I told her I don't really like sweet dishes. Side note: the galbi jjim was not as sweet as she made it out to be, it was actually perfect, the flavors were balanced and the meat was fall off the bone. Overall, this place is great. My friend and I met up for lunch to catch up. But I can tell you that we barely talked because we were too busy trying to stuff our face with Koreana's amazing dishes. read more

I've only had Korean BBQ before, so finding this place and being able to taste more authentic Korean dishes was so satisfying! I am in love with their tofu soup with beef! Tried the Soy Sauce fried chicken and kimchi fried rice this time. The kimchi fried rice was good, had a little spiciness to it. I loved the spam mixed in, and the perfectly fried runny egg on top. You could see the actual kimchi pieces diced up too, unlike some other restos. I would definitely get this again if I wanted something extra, other than white rice. The soy sauce fried chicken was okay. The chicken did not have that signature crunchy batter that KFC (korean fried chicken) should have. The wings were decent size and juicy though. You could taste the soy sauce in the glaze, and it wasn't overly sweet, but it was just okay. I would stick with the fried wings appetizer over this fried chicken plate, as it wasn't really worth twice the price. Banchan is always on point. I've been 3x now and the banchan is always the same ones, so I like knowing what to expect. They do offer refill if you ask for it. They do have high chairs and booster seats for the little ones. I brought my toddler and they gave her plastic utensils to use, in addition to her own metal plate/bowl. They didn't give her a plastic water cup but that may be because they saw we brought our own. Waitress did not check on us or refill our water this time. They weren't super busy but they did have a couple large groups so she may have been focusing more on them. I've been coming here for years and never really found it amazing until I wanted to try spicy raw marinated crab. I used to usually get a soup or galbi but I've always felt they were just ok and overpriced. I'd usually get the galbi tang but they skimp out on the meat. Def not as great as other places in the Bay Area. However, I now realized that they do have a lot on their menu, such as various soups and bim bim baps compared to other places in the area; which is a def plus. Came back again to enjoy this wonderfully delicious food. If you have not been here, you are missing out. I was worried they would be closed for lunch, but they weren't. It was quiet because we were the only people but it started to fill up as we left for the early dinner rush. Service was really great and the ladies were nice to us, checking in and making sure we were okay. We got the spicy marinated crab SPICY which made it absolutely delicious because you should always feel the burn and get all the flavor of the sauce.
