Love Well Season for their large selection of entrees and dumplings. We are always greeted once we come in and have Never been disappointed by their quick and friendly service. This restaurant does get pretty crowded for lunch and dinner so it can become a bit noisy, but it's a very family friendly place with lots of seating for large parties. Def one of our fav spots to get dim sum without having to cross two bridges now a days.

We had a craving for dim sum Saturday morning and took a drive to Well Season located in the sleepy, college town of Davis. For what we expected to be dim sum "rush hour" at 11am, there was ample parking in a dedicated lot, and our family of 4 was seated immediately. Cool! Love the menu/marker system which had very necessary photos to educate and entice my decisions lol...we ordered: Siu Mai Shrimp Dumplings Shrimp Noodle Rolls BBQ Pork Noodle Rolls Pan-Fried Turnip Cake Baked BBQ Pork Buns Green Onion Pancake Potstickers Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice Egg Custard Tart The quality of food was excellent, and the plates were very reasonably priced. The Siu Mai and BBQ pork buns were huge! My kids gobbled their sticky rice, while the favorite dish for me was the turnip cake. I thought the servers were great, they were kind and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised to see a bill way under $100, and we had a bunch of leftovers later that day. Score!!

Let's see... the skin on haagow was not delicate nor thin. The mango custard was good. The beef stomach was good. The beef chow fun came out extremely fast. Nothing bad to say about this place. It's the only dim sum in Davis. It's way better at being a dimsum store than other restaurants bring what they advertise, say a poke place or a Korean place or a McDonald's. It delivers on all the right notes and flavors. Don't expect high end and you won't be disappointed. The staff is very canto and friendly. The only thing missing are Chinese elderly reading their Chinese newspaper. Tho the place used to be a chevys and an Applebee's , yet it worked well as a dimsum place. Ambiance is great. Also they have great dinner and lunch menus. Solid A-

My sister and I were craving dim sum so here we are. We ordered shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, seafood scallop dumplings, steamed custard buns, and green tea sesame balls. The shrimp dumplings and the green tea sesame balls were the highlight of our meal. I love the texture and the filling of the green sesame balls. Overall, the food here is pretty consistent. There is also a lot of booth and table seating available inside. Parking here also is never an issue. So you guys may be wondering if the food here is consistent, seating is always available, and parking is never a problem, then why only a 3. The reason why I rated this place a 3 is the service... The staff is nice however, they rarely came by to take away our finished dishes or rarely refilled our water. I would understand if they were busy however, there were only 2 other people eating in the restaurant than us... Overall, this is a place that my family and I eat at every once in a while. They always deliver in terms of the food quality, however the service as I said can be hit or miss sometimes. Anyways... try it out if you like. :)

Went in with low expectations because of Davis food in general, came out pleasantly surprised. My boyfriend and I came by during what we thought would be the most dead hours...on a weekday at about 3PM. Low and behold, we were seated immediately and tended to throughout the meal. What we got: garlic spare ribs (10/5) -- a must order if you like the taste of fried chicken and garlic but with the meaty texture of pork! I was a bit skeptical since many places do not cook their spare ribs long enough and the result is this impossibly tough pork. However, this place fried the spare ribs perfectly so there was a crunchy exterior and juicy inside. They were surprisingly not very greasy either beef chow fun, dry style (5/5) -- my boyfriend can't stand bean sprouts and I had forgotten to ask for no bean sprouts even though they add to beef chow fun. It arrived at our table and I instantly smelled the wok hay. Fun was springy and well separated, onion still had bite to them, and the flavor was smoky, savory delight. It was so good that my boyfriend did not mind the bean sprouts siu mai (3/5) -- large and flavorful, but the texture was off. I expected texture from shiitake, shrimp, and pork and got only springiness reminiscent of a fishcake. I would not order this again har gow (4/5) -- solid although the skin was a bit too thick so it sloughed off after the first bite coconut bean jelly (4/5) -- it is basically coconut jello with some mung bean embedded throughout except the mung bean is still crunchy ??? it confused me a lot but the flavor is very good if you like coconut. My boyfriend did not like it because it is not sweet enough for him to think of it as a dessert seafood dumpling (4/5) -- We both enjoyed the flavor of this dumpling primarily due to the cilantro and plump texture char siu bao, baked (2/5) -- definitely the worst thing we ordered. The bun was on the dry side, char siu did not have nearly enough sauce or flavor, and there was too much bread compared to filling Overall, I look forward to trying more of their non dim sum items--salted fish eggplant clay pot, salt and pepper fish, and HK style noodle--as these types of dishes are better quality from what I have tried so far.

Ambiance: Davis Well Season is a dim sum restaurant in Davis with a typical dim sum layout. It has your brig fish tanks and large round tables that you see all of the time. It was also very open so you can see all 4 corners of the restaurant from anywhere you sit. Service: It took was too long to get a servers attention after you order food. I was trying to flag a server for 3 minutes before anyone noticed. Keep in mind the layout of the building and the fact that it was relatively empty . Food also took quite awhile. Food: Terrible. We got chicken feet, beef intestine, shrimp dumpling, garlic pork short rib, turnip cake, and noodle. The chicken feet were not that good. The flavor was dull and the chicken was soggy. The garlic pork short rib looked terrible and tasted like just regular short rib that were boiled. The turnip cake was dry but atleast had the correct flavor. The beef intestine was disgusting. The flavors were reminiscent of fungi that you would do in a biology lab. This was the second time in my life I spit a piece of food out from disgust. The noodles were the only redeeming factor as they were flavorful and well portioned. Note: please do not go. We went in hungry and optimistic. We left, disgusted and regretful.

A friend recommended we try this dim sum restaurant as it's nearby and we don't have to drive all the way to the Bay Area. The restaurant was previously another restaurant, I think, an Applebees, years ago. There's plenty of parking. When we came it was after the lunch rush. The place was almost empty with just a few customers dining. We were seated immediately and proceeded to order our dim sum choices. We didn't have to wait long for our orders. Everything was delicious. We thought the potstickers were a bit dry but it was ok. The flooring needs to be redone. Seems the planks are all bubbled up from too much moisture as if from mopping with too much water. The bathrooms need TLC.

It's Mothers Day. Please don't get me wrong, I'm all about giving Grace and showing a great amount of patience. When you're a table of 6 and you arrive just after opening and there is not very many parties/people seated and wait 20 minutes to flag someone down to give your order, it's disappointing. Especially for a place you frequent. It's my daughter's FIRST Mother's Day and she chose dim sum. We ordered shu mai, Chinese broccoli, chicken feet, duck, eggplant w/fillet fish, and a few other items. The point is, the food was good if it ever came out. Some items came others were forgotten or came out wrong. When we asked for correction, 20 minutes later we were told "We are cancelling your order because we are overwhelmed". OVERWHELMED?? I've never been told that at a long standing restaurant in all my life. Needless to say, the dim sum finally came when we were leaving...ended up taking it to go. Thanks for ruining my daughter's FIRST Mother's Day and mine. Your service was HORRIBLE and frankly, incredibly disappointing. Though we were patient, we ate what arrived in r packed to go. As a restaurant, you should be prepared for the large number of patrons and do better. #underwhelmed #mothersdayFAIL #alliwantedwasdimsum

The best Chinese food in Davis!! You know it's an authentic Chinese restaurant when there is salted fish on the menu. Salted fish with chicken fried rice is one of my favorite dishes so I couldn't resist it. I also ordered their salted fish eggplant with chicken clay pot. Both dishes were excellent with plenty of "wok hei" or that "seasoned flavor". In addition to those two dishes, I also ordered a chicken chow fun with gravy, golden chives yee fu noodles, west lake beef soup, beef tendon with jelly fish and some dim sim: egg tarts, chicken feet, pork sui mai, and lotus wrapped sticky rice. It was easy to find a dish that everyone wanted with the extensive menu and selection here. See my photo of their specials written on a dry erase board that won't be available on their regular menu or via their DoorDash page. There's plenty of spaces in the large parking lot. The restaurant was clean and well-kept, including the restrooms! The service and employees here were friendly and appreciative of our business since we ordered so much food. I'll stop by again the next time I pass through Davis! I'd love to try their seafood fish maw soup (usually served at wedding banquets), steamed pork patty with salted fish, salt and pepper ribs, and pea sprouts in broth.

It was decent if you're craving some dim sum. Some items may be better, some may be worse. They have a big menu. Unfortunately no rice noodle rolls after lunch hours. :( Deep fried pork dumplings were great, very chewy and good flavor, but super super greasy. One of the dumplings was oozing in oil nonstop lol. Steamed custard buns were good, nice and fluffy. Tasty filling. Deep fried stuffed taro puffs were not good, first time it came around the middle was sour tasting (going bad). They fired up a new batch which tasted more normal, (good creamy taro filling), but the middle was still cold. Idk how much I'd trust these. Pan fried chive pork dumplings were good, though the filling was a little tough. Shrimp dumpling was pretty mediocre, a bit bland. Pan fried turnip cake was also pretty bland and paste-y. Satay seafood roll was confusing, it tasted like bland veggie rolls with no wood ear mushroom (typically). Shrimp and scramble egg chow fun was not too bad, but had no other ingredients in it while being satay style. The shrimp were quite delicious and tender though, very large. Dried scallop dumpling had good filling to them, nice fragrant cilantro and wood ear mushroom for texture. Service was okay, good tea. Pretty spacious interior and parking lot as well.

I do not like to give bad reviews but I have to say, this place is not worth that many stars as posted on yelp. Definitely do not recommend this place. We decided to go here since we were hungry on saturday around 4pm on our way to Sacramento. We were the only one here when we arrived. Service was not great but we usually expect this at asian restuarants but being the only one here at the time before 2 other groups came in 10-15 minutes after us, you would think they would be more attentive instead of just sitting and being on their phones. That shoukd have been a red flag for us already. The other red flag was the chili sauce. I never seen it where it was almost black. It's like it was left out for months. I checked other tables and the chili was the same. Not a fan of that chili flavor at all. I ordered our usual dim sum dishes when we go to any dim sum places. Disappointed they didn't have the rice wraps but that might be a good thing since it saved us money and we didn't waste more food. The deep-fried shrimp ball was burnt and not crispy. Definitely avoid it. the chicken feet had no flavor. Seemed like they were lacking a lot of the ingredients like the oyster sauce with the bean sauce. It was bland that we only ate 2 pieces. I usually order 2 plates of chicken feet at most dim sum places. this was the second worst chicken feet I have tried. The xialongbao dumplings (not pictured) were awful. There were no broth and the meat was not good. I made a mistake by ordering 3 plates thinking no restaurant can mess that up ‍. We only ate 3 pieces out of the 12. The chau zhou style dumpling had no flavor. I only tasted the peanuts. The only thing that was good were the seafood scallop dumpling and the deep fried seafood roll. The beef stomach wasn't bad but nothing to rave about. I didn't comment on the shumai and the har gow since people's preference on these 2 dishes vary. Some like the har gow flower thin while some like them thick. These were more on the thicker side. Trying to save others from having a bad dim sum and food experience especially if it's their first time trying dim sum. I will have to find another place in Davis for dim sum if I have to make a pit stop during my drive to/from Sacramento.

We usually order take-out from here but decided to dine in on a weekday. The place was nearly empty when we arrived, but other patrons started trickling in closer to noon. Their menu has a wide selection of dim sum and dishes, and the food arrived promptly after we ordered. Everything was decent--nothing amazing but also not much to complain about. If you're hungry and want to grab a quick meal, this place gets the job done.

Yang Kee Dumpling is located in a small strip mall, equipped with plenty of parking, and EV chargers. When arrived it wasn't too busy, and the hostess showed me to my table. In front of my table was where the staff was making dumplings (they were behind glass). After looking at the menu, I opted to get some traditional soup dumplings, bbq pork fried rice, and pineapple bao buns for dessert. My server was Bing and she was nice and efficient. She came back to check on me a few times throughout my dining experience. My fried rice came out first. It was a LARGE serving of fried rice, it of course had eggs, carrots, peas, and BBQ pork. It was flavorful. Next came out the soup dumplings. They were brought out in a steamer basket with a top to keep them warm. These were amazing. The light and delicate dough, mixed with the savory pork filling, and the salty broth was perfection. Next came out my pineapple bao buns. To be honest, I wasn't sure how I was going to like them. To my surprise these may have been the star of the show. The dough was light and sweet, the top was carmelized and sweet, and the custard inside reminded me of a Dole Whip from disney (exept it wasn't cold, it was warm). These were pretty large and I'm semi embarrassed to admint I had 2 3/4 bao buns myself. Go here. It's delicious.

We were both pretty hungry afterwards and weren't sure what places were open, or what we wanted to eat. We decided to drive around downtown Davis just to get a sense of what was open, and saw that Tasty Kitchen was bustling. We had never eaten there before, but as it was pretty much our only option besides fast food (which I did not want), we decided to try them out and have a good Thanksgiving dinner. I took a quick browse at their Yelp reviews before heading in, and the food looked pretty good, so I figured why not. Since we had come pretty much on a whim (I usually heavily research restaurants before trying new places), we weren't quite sure what to order, but I knew I wanted some carbs. We wanted to share a fried rice, so we chose the dried scallop and egg white fried rice. My husband was eyeing the beef stew lo mein, and I was eager to try the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. We were seated quickly and given hot tea to enjoy. It had been a cold day, so the tea was very welcome. We placed our order and then sat back to people watch while we waited. There were a few large groups dining in, but while watching the staff, they all worked efficiently, and food was constantly coming out of the kitchen. Delivery drivers and those who called in for takeout were also coming and going. We waited a while for our food, but it was also because everyone seemed to have ordered at the same time for the dinner rush (and we had come around 17:45 too). I guess everyone was feeling like an early Thanksgiving dinner. We were honestly amazed by the huge portion sizes when our dishes arrived to our table. Everything was reasonably priced as well, and we knew we would have plenty of leftovers. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was delightfully saucy, and the noodles still had a nice wok hay. The beef was extremely velvety and tender. My husband enjoyed his beef stew lo mein. The egg noodles were perfectly bouncy, and the braised beef was tender. The dried scallop egg white fried rice was pretty good as well. I had hoped for a bit more wok hay and scallop flavor, but it was a little under seasoned. I would say it was a nice palette cleanser if you will, and at least the rice was nice and fluffy. I would have to say that the food here is comforting and hearty, but it didn't have as much depth of flavor as I would have liked. However, you really get your money's worth when you come here. It was $49 for everything before tip, and we had so many leftovers to take home. Our waiter even took our plates and packaged them to go for us, so that was a nice touch. I'm used to packaging my own leftovers these days. There's something for everyone at this restaurant, and I would like to be back to try some of their other dishes. Another table across from us ordered the Mongolian beef, which came on a sizzling platter, and that smelled so good. That will definitely be a contender next time we visit. I'm definitely thankful that Tasty Kitchen was open on Thanksgiving, and will keep this restaurant in our rotation for a holiday meal.

My husband and I came here after lunch and ordered two sauce, fried rice, a spicy, braised beef dish, and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). I was so excited to eat the fried rice and it tasted exactly like what I imagined it to taste like. I don't typically like really starchy, thick sauces, but that was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know, it's not like it's anything super special or a crazy amazing delicious dish, it's just a nostalgic taste that I really missed and used to only be able to get at the old tea house in Davis over a decade ago. The spicy braised beef, unfortunately was the kind of spicy. I didn't want it to be, so if you don't like tongue, numbing spicy, this is not the dish for you. That being said, the rest of the dish was good, I found the meat to be quite tender And well seasoned, when I could taste beyond numbness, lol. Vegetables are vegetables, really not more to say about that. I'll definitely come back for the fried rice and to try other clay pot dishes, which they have a lot of variety of. Also, it seems like a lot of people really enjoy their duck, so I'll be make sure to order that next time. In terms of ambience or service, it is a Chinese restaurant. You get what you get, and that is a person who brings your food out. Just kidding (kind of) I'm not expecting five star restaurant levels of service at this price point. Plates and cups were clean, the server came when I raised my hand, idk I don't really need more than that! Also, as a Vietnamese person who always has cash on her, I love when I get a discount (5%) for using cash.

It came out fast and hot. The spring roll that came with the set is delightfully crispy. The Mapo tofu is delicious. I really wanted to try their malatang but that'll be next time. I look forward to revisiting and trying more!

My kid mentioned they usually are very pack and people would dine outdoor, but I guess we arrived early so there wasn't any wait time. Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. I would come again to try out other things on the menu if I'm visiting my kid again.

New favorite restaurant, if ur Chinese this has all of the childhood restaurant favorites. All…read moregreat prices for the portions. We had the seafood tofu hotpot, shrimp wonton, garlic green bean, mongolian beef, half hainan chicken, and ny steak spaghetti to-go. Was a little busy at 7 on a holiday so we waited like ten minutes to get our order in, the guy memorized our order right as I said it lol. He confirmed and we got our soup in ten mins, ten mins for green beans and mongolian beef, another ten minutes for our chicken, then like seven for hotpot. Most disappointing was chicken, it's not hainan at all and just standard hong kong white chicken. Taste is fine and fresh but was sad. Best was the seafood hotpot AND the wonton soup. Both had great flavor and saltiness and was just sooo good. Wontons were very tasty and had a lot of meat, definitely both pork and shrimp, and soup even had little shrimp in it ifkyk. The seafood hotpot had great variety and flavor, my parents were pleased with the fish bits in it, the tofu was yummy bc it's fried tofu, the crab texture was not great maybe overcooked and I didn't like the soft cucumber but otherwise the broccoli scallop shrimp tofu fish bok choy was all great. Green beans and mongolian beef SERIOUSLY needed some wok flavor and wish the beef had black pepper because the seasoning was a bit lacking (wok flavor would be great here) and overall the vegetables were a little undercooked. They were addictive though I definitely kept going back for more. Hot tea is jasmine tea. Service was a bit lackluster but totally understandable and even though I was in a rush we were in and out by an hour and like ten minutes which worked. Ambiance wise, I didn't like how the lights are half brighter and whiter than the sun and half nicely softly lit. Tables are nice wood and a bit sticky but okay. There's random Chinese TV on the walls, very traditional lol and I think no music. Overall very pleased! Will definitely come back as much as possible to support, and highly highly recommend. I went harsh on Tim's because I was expecting perfect dishes, and even though some stuff didn't hit, everything was way beyond average.

Place is cute, w/ table & booths, & plenty of windows w/ that natural light. We decided 2 get the cream cheese wontons & the pot stickers. The wontons were phenomenal!!!! Pot stickers were ok, wish there was more filling in them so they weren't my favorite. The eggroll was also dipped in tempura so it was delightfully crunchy!!!! A huge pile of the pork fried rice & it didn't disappoint!!! The honey walnut shrimp was perfect!!!! It was pretty heavily battered and not too seasoned, but it wasn't bad. I think there is probably better calamari elsewhere. The dumplings were amazing though! Both came out piping hot. The fried ones had a nice crispy exterior and were super flavorful and juicy. The kimchi ones definitely had a kick, but were also juicy and delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed all of them and would recommend both to anyone in the mood for dumplings. The place itself has good seating options both inside and outside! Wow! Ascended to my #1 restaurant spot in Davis. Definitely more of an infrequent meal since I…read morewould consider it more on the expensive side. Average dishes are ~20 dollars. Great spicy food and friendly staff. Food (10/10) - The food here is AMAZING! Perfect balance of spice to flavor and every single bite is electric. The sichuan numbing pepper in the Chongqing soup was DELICIOUS. Mix it with some of the white rice and you have a dish all by iteself. The chicken itself had a nice chew and was very fragrant. Loved the texture and flaovr of the vermicelli; nice bounce to the noodles while soaking in all the spicy soup. My one complaint would be that they have soft bones (sign of long boiling time) so be careful of that! Also got the spicy stir-fried pork kidney... don't diss it 'til you try it. Super good, with that nice bit of chew. Take a bite of pepper, kidney, and white rice and BOOM! Perfect bite. **Recommendation: Rice is a key component for the dishes here. Without rice, everything will be too spicy, too savory, and overall too overwhelming. The rice is the thing that helps tie everything together (as it frequently is) Service (8/10) - Good service; nothing notable. Nice people and I think most of them speak Mandarin. Service and seating was also fast. Order of things to come out of the kitchen was a bit strange: soup for the chicken, rice, stir-fry, chicken. Honestly, not that big of a problem but just decided to comment. Price (8/10) - The price here is a bit on the pricier side; $54 for 2 but there were some leftovers (had to make my own rice though). Some of the dishes are more worth than others. The Chonqing chicken was $25 but you got a large bowl of chicken with soup and vermicelli. On the other hand, the stir-fry for $20 was notably padded with vegetables and I would say a majority of the dish was not the kidney. At the very least, the taste of the food compensates. However, this place is likely not a college go-to. Overall, great restaurant that I will be coming back to again (maybe with my parents LOL) or at the very least, would come with a large group as it is more fitting for family style. Highly recommend!
