    Sesame Tofu
    Francie M.

A great pit stop on our road trip to Lassen National Park (before we entered areas that would have less good food) I ordered the roast duck fried rice (bc that's an unusual menu item), while my friends ordered a combo fried rice (beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp), and a veggie chow mein. Everything was delicious but we wanted it a bit spicier so the owner provided us with a bowl of homemade chili crisp which was top notch. The portions were extremely generous and our eyes were bigger than our stomach so we took most of the serving of sesame tofu for road trip snacks later. The tofu was that perfect airy-but-chewy texture that you can only get from professionally made tofu. I didn't love the sauce (can't put my finger on it) but my friends raved about it. The owner also gave us extra fortune cookies to go after we accidentally dropped one of ours on the ground Logistics: - indoor seating only - plenty of strip mall parking outside

Driving back from Reno to the Bay Area on I80 and we were hungry for Dim Sum and homestyle Cantonese food. We saw Tasty Gourmet listing both options and decided to take a meal break. TG is located on the back side of a strip mall and has plenty of free parking. The restaurant is not flashy, has a number of tables for dining in, and appears to do plenty of takeout. Their Dim Sum choices are limited but cover the basics. The four of us ordered for lunch: - Shiu Mai (steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, 4 to an order) - Har Guow (steamed shrimp dumplings, 4 to an order) - Roast Duck Fried Rice (not many places have this) - Tomato Beef Gheen Mien (special order off menu as we noticed they had TB Chow Fun and Seafood Gheen Mien and figured they could produce the TB GM which they did with no problem). Most Cantonese restaurants with competent chefs can interchange with no problems. Probably could have added curry to the TB GM to make TCB GM... if you can decipher, then you're a bonafide Cantonese food eater. LOL. - Sesame Balls (6 fried sesame balls for dessert, filled with red bean paste) All the food came out hot and very tasty. We ate it all up! Service from Rebecca was very hospitable and welcoming. She's a very good host and an overall nice person. A good stop for us and we'll be back in September.

    Quality food. No joke.

I been coming here for some years now and I still cant get over the fact that customer service is above already great food. If you in the area to find something to eat you need to stop here and take food home. The lady here is so incredibly nice that she will remember what you order and makes sure your food is made as requested. You can change or add something slightly and they are serious about the service. Bottle water on arrival, open seating and clean restroom. The lady is so friendly that she tells you about your food, example what type of mushroom the food is prepared with. The amazing friendliness goes a long way that I drive from Woodland just to eat here. This is by far a very good restaurant and everything I order is good. May 24,2026 : I continue to come here, and the quality of food has not changed. Im considered a regular here for the amount of times I cone in for food. I just cant find a place to compete with their quality. The family operating this establishment is extremely friendly, and even tho it changed slightly they are still great.

We stumbled in here for dinner after being nearby in Davis to take care of some business. Looked on Yelp and this restaurant had good ratings, so we decided to give it a try. Didn't disappoint as both the food and service were great. Luckily, we went early, so there was no wait. We started off with the Wonton in Chili Oil. These were really good - similar to a dish we get in Roseville at Uncle Dumpling. For dinner, we had the Cashew Chicken, Duck Fried Rice, and Beef Chow Fun. All very good. Our two servers were very friendly and food came out quickly. Definitely would eat here again when in Davis.

I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always delicious and reminds me of my dad's cooking, no matter what I get. This is THE spot to go if you're broke too - I have never had less than 3 meals out of the leftovers from this place before. Service is always good. It's a family run place so the wait staff tend to recognize their regulars and go above and beyond to ensure you have a good time. It's a bit on the bare side inside but they let the food speak for itself.

It was my first time here and i was pleasantly surprised with the quality and freshness of the dishes. The seafood noodles were so crispy and the flavor was not too salty. The steamed bbq baos were fluffy, soft and had a delicious bbq filling. The pan fried dumplings were also pretty solid, with a nice crispy exterior and flavorful beef filling. The service was fast and friendly, and we got our food really fast. The ambiance was filled with families and a clean interior which made it comfortable to dine in. I'd come again to try more items!

    Why no delivery services?

Delivery services take a large cut of the sale. Up to 1/3 of the ticket. Call in your order and pickup. Easy parking right up front and the people that operate Tasty Gourmet are fantastic.

Is this placed owned by the same owners as Four Seasons Gourmet (the one attached to the gas station)? If yes, do the owners own both this location and the old location? Or did they sell off the old place?

The owner of Tasty Gourmet used to work at Four Seasons, but then retired a few years ago. Apparently she got bored at home, so she decided to open up her own restaurant!

Siu Mai: This was classic & well-executed, and there was a strong mushroom taste which I loved. Shrimp Dumplings: These were also classic, flavorful, and fresh. Jelly Fish & Sliced Beef Tendon: I loved the texture and spiciness of the general dish, and they were seasoned well. Beef Noodle Rolls: These were okay in my opinion, but silky and tender. Pan-Fried Turnip Cake: I loved the crisp outside, and it was soft on the inside. It did not feel too heavy and better than other places I've tried. Green Beans: These were slightly oily, but the portion size was generous for the price. Preserved Egg & Pork Congee: The congee was okay, but it was comforting and smooth and still had a good flavor.

One here at least a handful of times per year. Their food is generally good and their portion size is large. This summer they are running a special (10% off your bill, plus additional 5% if paid in cash). For a Saturday evening, they did not have many diners, two other larger groups, a couple smaller tables of patrons and a couple few takeout orders. The main reason for coming here is for their Dim Sum items, but some items are not available after 2pm. They have a pretty extensive menu for non-dim sum items. Most of their food is pretty good including the dim sum items. Portion size is large, so there is usually leftovers to take home. Today, the service is lacking quite a bit. Had to wave down the server many times during our meal, to order, ask a couple times for water and missing napkins, water refill, didn't check if we needed more hot tea, boxes for left overs, getting the bill, etc. Another ding for them is that we were given and billed for 2 items (chicken buns and steamed long beans) that we Did Not Order. I didn't not complain about it because we were fine eating the extra food, but that was annoying! Overall dining experience was 3/5 stars. Food was a solid 4/5 stars. Service was 2.5/5 stars. There are so many Chinese food options now in Davis. Not sure what's up with the service, but they really need to step that up if they expect customers to keep coming back.

If there's no parking in front of Yang Kee you could park in the Safeway lot which is right next to the restaurant. I came with 2 other people on a Friday evening around 630pm. It was busy and bustling! We ended up waiting maybe 45 minutes for a table. There was nowhere to wait in the restaurant, but there were a couple of chairs. It was very hot outside so we didn't feel like waiting outside. Here's a tip! They have a Yelp check-in waitlist so if you have the Yelp app you can check in before you get to the restaurant. If I go here again, then I will check in from the Yelp app while I'm traveling there. The restaurant felt warm for a hot day outside. The AC was not on high enough. They also had a big fan going but it was still warm. The ambiance is casual. They don't have a large extensive menu, but after eating the food you can tell they place an emphasis on the quality of each dish. From the server, we learned that they have locations in Elk Grove and Roseville. You cannot eat in the Elk Grove restaurant and it is to go orders only. The server informed us that the Elk Grove menu is more extensive than the Davis one. Yang Kee dumpling is mainly known for their soup dumplings. They do have other Chinese dishes as well. We ordered the Yang Keep soup dumpling sampler which included two crab, two black truffle, two pork, and two shrimp loofah dumping flavors, the pan fried pork dumplings, seasonal vegetable dish, salt and pepper spare ribs, and pineapple buns. Even though it was busy and crowded right shortly after we ordered the food the food came out quickly in about 10 to 15 minutes! I tried the crab, black truffle, and shrimp, loofah dumplings. There was a lot of soup in the soup dumplings. The pan fried dumplings were also good but the exterior is a little bit hard to eat since it's tough. Also, when I bit into the exterior it seemed like the soup was hot to eat and I had to wait for it to cool. The soup dumplings were easier to eat and weren't as hot since the dough is thinner. My favorite was the black truffle and shrimp loofah. The black truffle had a very strong flavor of mushroom and had a unami taste. The shrimp loofah had big pieces of shrimp in it. There are two dipping sauces spicy chili and black vinegar/soy sauce for the dumplings. The seasonal vegetable dish came with broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and green beans. My friend did not want the carrot so we excluded the carrots from the dish. Usually it is garlic flavored but they said that we could add black bean sauce or make it spicy. We chose to add the black bean sauce. The dish still had an overall strong garlic flavor with a little bit of black bean sauce. I feel like there could've been more black bean sauce. The vegetables were very fresh. It was a simple dish and not strong in flavor but was delicious! The pork spareribs were fried and had a very crispy exterior and the pork was not dry and moist. There were onion and jalapeño toppings which added a lot of flavor to the pork. We finished all the dishes between the three of us. We also ordered the pineapple buns and they said they could bring it out at the end. The waitress said that we should order the pineapple buns when she was taking our order because sometimes they run out by the time people decide if they want to order since it was already the evening. An order comes with three buns. I love pineapple buns and they're my favorite at Asian bakeries and when I bit into it l there were small pieces of pineapple inside which was a surprise. The bun was very soft and melted in your mouth. Overall, the food is delicious and great quality and not overly salty with lots of flavor. Service was okay since it was very busy and it was warm inside and the AC wasn't cold enough but the excellent food made up for it! I will definitely come back and want to try the Elk Grove and Roseville locations. I looked at the menu for the Roseville location and the menu is larger than the Davis location.

Yang Kee in Roseville is a favorite, so we naturally wanted to enjoy the food at the Davis location. The service was close to nonexistent. Once we were seated, and given menus, it's obvious that the offerings at the Roseville location are far more extensive than they are at the Davis location. We decided to order the BBQ pork buns because it's always a go to for us, and we figured we'd peruse the menu while we were enjoying the buns. The buns arrived at the table, and they were immediately visibly noticeably different, but it wasn't until we tried them that we noticed that there's also a huge taste differential. There was very little filling compared to what we're used to. It was mostly bun, more than anything else. When the buns were placed on the table, there was no contact with us/the table to find out how we we're doing, about the food, etc. Very much felt like a churn and burn moment. Based on the lack of Customer Service, and poor food quality, we opted to not waste any more time or money, and we would find another place to dine at. Thankfully, we are closer to the Roseville location and will still continue to enjoy the food there. We definitely will not be back to this location

My kid mentioned they usually are very pack and people would dine outdoor, but I guess we arrived early so there wasn't any wait time. Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. I went from a thin top to a medium weight sweater. We arrived in Davis I grabbed my jacket to pair with my sweater. Today was a day spent exploring Davis to see the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts (CCACA). What a great Conference. We come each year for this Conference and explore Davis every time we are here. After exploring the first building of the show it was coming on time to eat. We looked around the current shopping center and my husband didn't see anything he was craving. He said we'll go more into town and look for a noodle place. He said he remembered one from our last visit, down one of the alleys. Walking up the street we saw a couple of advertisements. A sandwich board was on the sidewalk for Davis Noodle CIty, the exact place we were looking for. The little Noodle Shop in the alley. We weaved through the other businesses, past the dumpling restaurant, past the outdoor seating and to the front door of the Davis Noodle City Restaurant. The out door seating looked really welcoming, but it was chilly out so we opted for eating inside with the other table that was occupied. There were 3 parties eating outside when we arrived. When we walked inside we were greeted and told to take any table. We choose a table in the corner. The menus were under the glass table top, keeping it clean and easy to read. Each place setting had its own copy of the menu. After looking at the menu, remembering what was offered on the sandwich board in front, and cross referencing it with Yelp Reviews we started ordering. We opted for the Five Spice Beef Noodles, and I asked if that was a good option and she said it was their top seller. The Yelp Reviews were only ok for that dish, but I took our chances. The second dish we ordered was the Dan Dan Noodles She tried to upscale us to the one with vegetables, but that dish was a cold dish so we when for the standard Dan Dan Noodles. Both dishes came out quickly. The Dan Dan noodles were not spicy as I anticipated, which was good, I wasn't really looking for spicy. I liked the flavor and realized that if you mixed it up there is a sauce on the bottom that is really tasty. Dan Dan Noodles ($8.25 a steal) is a solid dish and I highly reccomend it. It's a great bowlful of noodles. If you are hopping for other ingredients you are out of luck, it's 100% noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts on top and a sauce on the bottom. The Five Spice Beef Noodle Soup ($12.75)was as described in the reviews. It comes with American Broccoli and carrots. The beef is so good it melts in your mouth. The broth is minimal and lacked flavor. I'd think that it's advertised as Five Spice that it would have more flavor. I don't reccomend it if you are looking for a strong flavor. If you are looking for great meat, that melts in your mouth, but is also a little fatty then you have the perfect dish. Both dishes came with fresh noodles, none of those dried and rehydrated noodles that some places serve. The noodles on both dishes were different and pleasant. I highly reccomend their fresh noodles. Customer service was good. She came to check up on us and was pleasant. Parking is street parking. And they have a bathroom on site that is clean and well stocked.
