    Attack!

This little no frills gem is tucked in the back, but I can't believe the rating isn't higher for this place. Consistently tasty food. I'm a huge fan of the chicken mustard green soup (which is good as vegan too) and dumplings are bomb. But the "coop-de-gracie" thick noodles including the ones in the soups are the perfect blend of the size of a big udon noodle but more "meaty" like a pasta noodle. Final detail, often overlooked, the soup comes out scaldingly hot. I like a soup to come to table that opens your facial pores, forces you to come to grips with your self discipline of patience versus a blanched tongue. So yes I think the food is solid.

Casual dining, small mom and pop place, nothing fancy but delicious food with vegan options. Service is good. The server was quick to check on us when we sat down to ensure that she's available. Should we have any questions. Once we got our food, she checked to see how we enjoyed it. She's not being personable, but she's efficient and I appreciated the level of service.

I tried to find this place a few times and it's really tucked in haha. Service was really quick and efficient. I couldn't decide what to get! Everything sounded so good! The Dan Dan noodles were delicious. We also got the veggie dumplings and they were so fresh. It's a cute little restaurant tucked in the back of a multipurpose area. Highly recommend.

Davis Noodle City was a STAPLE for me when I went to Davis as a broke college student. It's a small restaurant hidden inside a plaza. I always experience quick service and good and affordable food. Food is really affordable and portions are great! I feel like I always take home leftovers. That being said, my opinion hasn't changed since college! I went to visit after not coming for a few years since graduating. My partner and I got our usual dishes: sichuan eggplant with noodles, garlic hot chicken with noodles, and Dan Dan noodles. Everything still tastes how it did when I last had it. I will say, service here isn't the most amazing there is. The server at the counter looks to be distracted. However, they will still come around to refill water and will come around to you when called! I love Davis Noodle City. So simple, good and now so nostalgic for me.

Dan Dan Noodles, Pork Hot Oil Wontons, Thai Tea
    Catherine M.

Popped in for a quick meal and it was a nice little spot. Tables were clean and service was super fast. Thai tea was okay but not really strong and flavorful. I was expecting some spice due to the name, but the pork hot oil wontons did not seem to have any hot oil or chili oil, just the same thin peanut butter sauce as the dan dan noodles. The wontons also fell apart easily but were at least pretty plump with meat filling. Dan dan noodles were a big portion and tasted okay.

I wanted to love this place... I ordered the orange chicken and noodles... and a side of spring rolls. Overall the veggies were the winner of all the dishes. They were lightly cooked so they still had a crunch to them, but the noodles were boring no flavor... and the orange chicken didn't have much orange flavor at all. We had this as take out so I won't comment too much on the texture of the chicken, I think it was soggy because of the container. Overall if I were to return it would be to try something completely different. The service was great, the woman behind the counter was very kind! Probably the best part of the whole experience!

    Chef's Noodle Salad上海凉面

Chef's noodle salad (+ shrimp) was BOMB!!! Super good sauce and amazing portions. If you like peanut noodles this is the one for you! Service was amazing too. My only critique would be, a little more shrimp would've been nice. Came close to closing and food was served within 5min of ordering. When i finished, there was still alot of sauce left and the waitress kindly accepted my request to give me some extra noodles to clean up the sauce! Great ambiance too!!!

Hidden in a corner, home cooked style. I attended UC Davis over a decade ago and glad to see that this spot is still open and located in the little area behind Sophia's Thai Kitchen. It's a small hole in the hole in the wall that has quick authentic home styled cooking. Me and my parents came upon closing on a Saturday night and we got parking right on the Main Street. We got seated right away and we ordered some thai iced coffee and the beef noodle soup and the eggplant and white rice. It was pretty good, service was quick and pretty cheap!

    Pork Wonton noodle soup

Dined here recently with some friends and ordered the following: Pork wonton noodle soup - This was not served with the traditional egg noodles you'd expect. The wontons were more like dumplings. The broth wasn't bad with a strong white pepper taste. It was served with a few carrot shavings and broccoli florets. Chicken fried rice - It had good flavor but there was not a lot of chicken in the dish. Pork potstickers - These came out freshly fried with a traditional pork filling and a slight hint of ginger. Great dish! Vegetable dumplings - Very good and contained a silky filling! Dan dan noodles - There was an abundance of noodles in this dish. Don't forget to mix it first as there's a sauce at the bottom. This was actually pretty tasty! Five spice beef noodle soup - This dish had very good flavor and there was a generous amount of beef and noodles. The beef was very tender and tore apart easily. I've never had it with broccoli. It's usually served with bok choy but I do love broccoli so I didn't mind. There were also a few carrot shavings in the bowl. Thai iced tea - Tasted very watered down. I would not order this again. Located on E street but in an area behind the Dumpling House. The prices here are very reasonable providing a good value! The service was OK..it was more matter of fact vs being friendly and welcoming. I would come back and order the beef noodles soup again, fried rice, but would like to try a few other dishes like their hot oil wontons and pork chop noodle soup.

Since then, the former sake bar has been removed as part of the restaurant's evolution into a full-fledged shokudo concept. Service was friendly, our food arrived promptly, and the overall ambience struck a nice balance between a cozy ramen shop and a casual Japanese eatery.

That being said, it's pretty cleaned and well maintained. Now for the food: we ordered the passion grapefruit jasmine tea with aloe, beef noodle soup, the cold noodles with peanut sauce, and the pan fried dumpling. The drink was standard, though a little sweet for my liking. Next time we'll adjust the sweetness to be a little bit lower. The aloe was strangely very mushy and not very enjoyable. The cold noodles with peanut sauce were a little disappointing. I found it to be overwhelmingly, salty, though the rest of it tasted fine. I enjoyed the beef noodle soup more, especially once you added the pickled mustard greens. The noodle texture was not my favorite, but soup was pretty good and the beef was well cooked. Overall, it really itched that scratch and I was satisfied. Both noodle dishes were hefty. It doesn't look like a lot of food because it comes out in plastic containers, but we were pretty satisfied by the amount of food that we got. The star of the show were definitely the pan fried buns. They were super crispy and well fried on the outside, and the inside was delicious. Lots of juice, well seasoned, perfectly cooked in my opinion. To be honest, we were just OK with the meal until we ate these pan fried buns! Will definitely return to try more buns and bowels and some other dishes that they have on the menu.

But she said she didn't mind if her wings were hot and the salad was already cold. It was 10 more minutes before my meal came out. I was pleasantly surprised with the portion size. The fried egg on top was a bonus! The meat was cooked very well - tender and flavorful. The rice was a little more saucy than I would have preferred, but still yummy. We chose the table because the booths looked uncomfortable. Another couple of diners came to eat while we were there. I had the Yellow Curry. I added chicken for an additional $3 because the basic dish was just sauce with potato and carrot. Most other restaurants include a protein in the price. The dish itself was just OK, it was a bit too sweet, I guess from the coconut milk. The portion size was good, I'll get an additional meal from the leftovers. My friend had the Pad Kee Mow and she graded it "A". Perhaps I made the wrong choice or am more finicky about my food. After eating the waiter came by holding a tablet saying he could take payment. He didn't show us the totals, just said we could give him our credit cards. We did so and we each asked for a printed receipt. When I got my receipt I saw there were two totals, one for cash and the other for credit (worked out to be a 3% fee.) That was never mentioned, neither by the waiter nor by the menu. I usually pay by cash but when the waiter said he'd take our cards, I assumed that was the preferred payment method.

Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again.
