Service was quick and friendly. Ambiance is immediately ruined for me whenever I have to slide over a taped seat in a booth, so there's that. The chair seating across from us looked nice, though. Food was okay, nothing to write home about. I had the lunch special which included soup, orange chicken and chow mien. The chicken was tender and not overcooked, so that was good. Sauce was underwhelming.

Yesterday, I visited the only chinese restaurant in Winters, California, Ocean Chinese Restaurant and was highly impressed. It is nestled within its communities downtown area where there are plenty of parking. I was presently surprised to hear they are family owned and operated which was clearly evident by their hospitality and outstanding food. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. There were so many options on the menu. Everything we tried was delicious. I live in the greater Sacramento region where there are many chinese restaurants to choose from, but this small family owned restaurant has been the best I've experienced thus far. Everything is made from scratch and I could definitely tell in the taste. We started off with some hot & sour soup where I noticed the soup broth was not watered down like many other restaurants. For appetizers: We got pan-fried potstickers, fried shrimp, and crab & cheese wontons; all hand made and on point! For the main course: We ordered their signature general chicken, sweet & sour pork, orange chicken, honey walnut prawns, moo-shu chicken with 4 chinese pancakes, chow mein and fried rice. The restaurant is small, but we arrived early for dinner and had no trouble finding a seat for my large party. The restaurant started filling up with all the locals who got greeted by the server David. Seemed like Mr. David knew each local customer who paid a visit to the establishment. Showed me that Mr. David invests in his customers by building a good rapport. I am so happy I tried this restaurant. This will be a sure stopping spot moving forward for me every time I travel through Winters on my way to Berryessa and Napa.

The ONE and ONLY Chinese restaurant in Winters and they most definitely understand the assignment of delivering good ol' Chinese foooood! I had stepped into the small cute town of Winters during November last year and let me tell you, EVERYONE knows EVERYONE, especially if you live there. I was there for about a month and half, and of course when in a new town or city, I go searching for goooood eats!! I asked the locals about good eats in their little town and they recommended, Ocean's right away! Not only because it's their only Chinese restaurant but how good their food is as well as the customer service! Walking in brought me back to my childhood, total HOLE IN THE WALL! Old school vibes for sure, I automatically knew the food was gonna be fire! Went in my first during lunch one afternoon and I dine'd in. I ordered Mongolian beef with steam rice. It was great, it was made fresh and came out piping hot! I also got soup with my lunch plate. My only complaint about my dish was that it had too much scallions and not enough meat. But that wasn't gonna stop me from trying more dishes! Second time in, I ordered curry chicken over rice to go! And OMG soooooo goooood! The best I have had in SOME YEARS! And they even give you soup too! I know a lot of Chinese restaurants don't do soups for to go orders but Ocean's views are different on that aspect and I'm here for it! Egg flower soup and hot and sour soup are always YUM! Customer service is always wonderful! They know their customers and they stay BUSY! Especially during dinner time, Friday nights and I can ONLY imagine what the weekends must look like there! One thing to know when visiting Winters, a lot of eateries are closed on Mondays, and Ocean's is on that list as well! But so worth the wait until Tuesday!

For being the only Asian food restaurant in winters, this restaurant really marks off all the boxes! I ordered takeout online, at 6pm on a Saturday and the food was ready within 30 minutes. Coming into the restaurant, the employees were extremely nice and had the food ready to go. I was in and out of the restaurant in two minutes, which is great for a pickup order! I did not eat inside the restaurant but for those who may want to, there is tons of seating, not too many people inside, quiet vibes within the establishment with just the sound of cooking and table conversations, and tons of available parking outside. The food itself was great, very fresh and not heavy on the stomach. This whole plate was super affordable and came with a cup of soup, a single egg roll, fried wontons, and then everything in the plate which was more than enough to feed two people or have leftovers. It would come here over driving to another location in Vacaville any day, and definitely beats Panda Express. I will be happy to continue supporting this local winters business into the future, and recommend for everyone to come try this out yourselves!

The Mongolian beef was tasty but there was no spice to it. Orange chicken was so so. The pork chow mein was really good though. That is why I gave them 3 stars. If there's no parking in front of Yang Kee you could park in the Safeway lot which is right next to the restaurant. I came with 2 other people on a Friday evening around 630pm. It was busy and bustling! We ended up waiting maybe 45 minutes for a table. There was nowhere to wait in the restaurant, but there were a couple of chairs. It was very hot outside so we didn't feel like waiting outside. Here's a tip! They have a Yelp check-in waitlist so if you have the Yelp app you can check in before you get to the restaurant. If I go here again, then I will check in from the Yelp app while I'm traveling there. The restaurant felt warm for a hot day outside. The AC was not on high enough. They also had a big fan going but it was still warm. The ambiance is casual. They don't have a large extensive menu, but after eating the food you can tell they place an emphasis on the quality of each dish. From the server, we learned that they have locations in Elk Grove and Roseville. You cannot eat in the Elk Grove restaurant and it is to go orders only. The server informed us that the Elk Grove menu is more extensive than the Davis one. Yang Kee dumpling is mainly known for their soup dumplings. They do have other Chinese dishes as well. We ordered the Yang Keep soup dumpling sampler which included two crab, two black truffle, two pork, and two shrimp loofah dumping flavors, the pan fried pork dumplings, seasonal vegetable dish, salt and pepper spare ribs, and pineapple buns. Even though it was busy and crowded right shortly after we ordered the food the food came out quickly in about 10 to 15 minutes! I tried the crab, black truffle, and shrimp, loofah dumplings. There was a lot of soup in the soup dumplings. The pan fried dumplings were also good but the exterior is a little bit hard to eat since it's tough. Also, when I bit into the exterior it seemed like the soup was hot to eat and I had to wait for it to cool. The soup dumplings were easier to eat and weren't as hot since the dough is thinner. My favorite was the black truffle and shrimp loofah. The black truffle had a very strong flavor of mushroom and had a unami taste. The shrimp loofah had big pieces of shrimp in it. There are two dipping sauces spicy chili and black vinegar/soy sauce for the dumplings. The seasonal vegetable dish came with broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and green beans. My friend did not want the carrot so we excluded the carrots from the dish. Usually it is garlic flavored but they said that we could add black bean sauce or make it spicy. We chose to add the black bean sauce. The dish still had an overall strong garlic flavor with a little bit of black bean sauce. I feel like there could've been more black bean sauce. The vegetables were very fresh. It was a simple dish and not strong in flavor but was delicious! The pork spareribs were fried and had a very crispy exterior and the pork was not dry and moist. There were onion and jalapeño toppings which added a lot of flavor to the pork. We finished all the dishes between the three of us. We also ordered the pineapple buns and they said they could bring it out at the end. The waitress said that we should order the pineapple buns when she was taking our order because sometimes they run out by the time people decide if they want to order since it was already the evening. An order comes with three buns. I love pineapple buns and they're my favorite at Asian bakeries and when I bit into it l there were small pieces of pineapple inside which was a surprise. The bun was very soft and melted in your mouth. Overall, the food is delicious and great quality and not overly salty with lots of flavor. Service was okay since it was very busy and it was warm inside and the AC wasn't cold enough but the excellent food made up for it! I will definitely come back and want to try the Elk Grove and Roseville locations. I looked at the menu for the Roseville location and the menu is larger than the Davis location.

Yang Kee in Roseville is a favorite, so we naturally wanted to enjoy the food at the Davis location. The service was close to nonexistent. Once we were seated, and given menus, it's obvious that the offerings at the Roseville location are far more extensive than they are at the Davis location. We decided to order the BBQ pork buns because it's always a go to for us, and we figured we'd peruse the menu while we were enjoying the buns. The buns arrived at the table, and they were immediately visibly noticeably different, but it wasn't until we tried them that we noticed that there's also a huge taste differential. There was very little filling compared to what we're used to. It was mostly bun, more than anything else. When the buns were placed on the table, there was no contact with us/the table to find out how we we're doing, about the food, etc. Very much felt like a churn and burn moment. Based on the lack of Customer Service, and poor food quality, we opted to not waste any more time or money, and we would find another place to dine at. Thankfully, we are closer to the Roseville location and will still continue to enjoy the food there. We definitely will not be back to this location

Here is what's going on. This latest visit was serviced by Zoran, but previous visits have suffered the same problems. An inordinate amount of time is required to provide everyone with a drink, even though many of our group order only water. The order taking is somewhat chaotic, although it appears that the server is making relevant notes about who orders what and who is together. Then the waiting begins. A few of the smaller items (soup, salad) emerge from the kitchen in maybe 30 minutes, the entrees don't start appearing before we have been seated for more than an hour, often longer. And this was a Wednesday afternoon--we arrived before 5:00 pm--when the restaurant was not near full and we had made a reservation the previous day. The food is generally good, if rather lightly seasoned. But I can recall no inquiries from the server about beverage refills; our requests for this require, again, an inordinate amount of time to fulfill. More than once our server made the trip from the kitchen to our table carrying only a single item, then back again, apparently, for another item that sometimes doesn't appear. When it's obvious that everyone is virtually finished with their food, the only way for us to receive our bills was to flag sown our server who finally appears with several slips of paper and absolutely no idea of who has ordered what, in spite of apparently making notes during the ordering process and delivering the majority of the dishes to our table himself. We finally all received our bills, but about half of our group failed to receive the traditional fortune cookie at all. Here's the thing: this pattern over several visits of the lack of server attention and skill is should be directly laid at the feet of management. Every server has to start somewhere, but the success and future of the restaurant largely depends on the work of the servers; poor service taints an otherwise good experience, even if the food is perfect. Not to mention the fact that servers are the sales people for potential extra revenue, e.g., upscale beverages, deserts, etc. We are reconsidering whether to return here as a group in the future, but over two hours for a meal seems excessive.
