Great service! Great food! Love this place and they got us in immediately! So yummy! I loved the pad Thai and the mint chicken! Samosas are ok....but still yummy!
Every time I head home from Davis, I would spot this business and think I need to remember to try it next time I'm in the area. The day finally arrived when I remembered to stop here. I tried the following: Tea Leaf Salad, Burmese Chicken Curry Potatoes, and Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup, with a side order of Coconut Rice. I loved the salad, but the other dishes were average, not super flavorful, and won't be memorable to me. I will return for the Tea Leaf Salad. It's one of my most favorite things I've eaten.
The front of the restaurant is visible from the street but has plenty of parking in the back parking lot. We arrived just before the dinner rush so there were very few customers inside. The ambience is casual and airy, with tall ceilings and plenty of space to move between the tables. We were greeted and seated quickly by the very friendly hostess. She took her time to explain the menu and gave us time to make our selections. We ordered appetizers, Samusas and Platha with Coconut chicken curry dip. The Samusas were large and perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and very well seasoned potato filling and were delicious. They came with a sauce that was similar to sweet chili sauce but with a little something extra. Really nice addition. The Platha is like a variation of naan. The chicken was tender and the coconut sauce was smooth and creamy and pared really well. I really could come here just to order this, by itself! For our main course, we ordered the Pumpkin Salmon Curry with Basmati rice and The Lemon and Paprika Lamb, both with a side of basmati rice. The Pumpkin Salmon curry was incredible! There was so much salmon and the curry was thick and creamy with a really complex flavor profile. The lamb was so incredibly tender, I could cut the pieces with a spoon. I ordered it max spicy level and was pleased to see that the heat level was exactly what I ordered but did not overpower the flavors of the dish. It pared extremely well with the basmati rice. For dessert, we tried the Shwe Gyi Sanwin Makin (yeah, its a mouthful), with mango ice cream. This is a semolina cake made with coconut milk. Imagine if cornbread and coconut flan had a love-child and this is probably what would result. It worked really well with the mango ice cream. Overall, an excellent experience! The portions are generous, the service is fast and friendly and the flavors are top-notch! This one goes to the top of my Davis favorites list!
We finally were able to try this Burmese restaurant in Davis. First I must say I was hesitant to go here as parking in central Davis can be bad, not here as there is a big free parking lot behind the restaurant. This restaurant is located next to Mikuni, it is not easily seen from the street but it is there. We arrived before the dinner rush and were immediately seated. There is a good sized indoor dining room, big windows with lots of light. There is also a large patio area with outside seating. The wait staff was attentive, fast and knowledgeable. We ordered the chicken curry and patha was delicious and a great start! The curry here is sweeter and has many tropical flavors. The lemongrass pork was savory and a little spicy. The pumpkin chicken stew was creamy and sweet. I look forward to trying more dishes.
Came to My Burma with my boyfriend and his family for an early lunch. We had our pups with us and we got to sit outside! Our waitress was very friendly and offered our dogs watered and after getting our food, came and checked up on us even though it started getting pretty busy and packed. We did family style and got a few things to try! 1. Salt and pepper calamari 2. Platha and coconut chicken curry dip 3. Garlic noodles with tofu 4. Combination fried rice 5. Burmese chicken curry potatoes 6. Burmese style pad thai with shrimp 7. Garlic and chili shrimp 8. Lemongrass salmon Everything was delicious! I would say the platha and coconut chicken curry dip, Burmese chicken curry potatoes, and the Burmese style pad Thai with shrimp were my favorite out of the bunch. I would come back again if I'm in Davis!
All time favorite restaurant in Davis! So wish this place had existed when I was a student here... Sat at the bar since it was a busy Saturday night at the restaurant. Ordered Lemongraass chicken that had tender pieces of chicken with crisp peas pods and red bell pepper in addition to Burmese eggplant curry. We also had a bowl of coconut rice and brown rice. Can't wait to return again soon! Thank you for continuing to serve up top notch food and fabulous meals.
I would always pass by and could smell the food as I walked past. So, I finally made my way to give this location a try. Now I come here often and really enjoy the food! It's not always super busy when I go but there are times where it's been packed. The wait time hasn't been longer than 5min during my visits and the staff always are friendly once you walk in the door. My servers are also really nice. Everyone is attentive and makes sure to check on you throughout your meal. Order: Samusas Mango chicken x Jasmine rice Sesame chicken Nan Gyi Thok Dry chicken curry (or try with Swai) -- which I tried for the first time tonight. Coconut rice Everything comes out pretty fast. The Nan Gyi Thok I definitely recommend, it's my favorite on the menu. What a great experience. Met my sister here for dinner (one of her favorite spots, my first time) and we had an amazing meal. The ambiance is difficult to explain, but I'll try! It was fancy, trendy, calm but energizing, and comfortable. Staff were friendly and kept our waters full. Food came out very quick and everything was delicious. We tried quite a few items! Garlic noodles with pork, good but was not our favorite. Pad Thai with shrimp, good and a favorite for my sister, my fourth ranked item. Tea salad, this was amazing - the salad was a great start and likely would've also been a great end to your meal. I loved it and will get this again, but third on the list. Pineapple rice, this was delicious! Close to the tea salad but wins with this item pairing amazingly with my favorite dish we tried. Sesame chicken - this was super good. I wanted to take another to go, but can tell the crispy chicken would be better freshly fried. It's also worth coming back for. I'll be coming back, and also trying more of their menu. They've got a sesame beef that I definitely want to try next time also. Recommend.
Wonderful service. Our server was very attentive and amazing in general. Burmese Style Pad Thai w/ Shrimp - 8/10 Shrimp was beautifully cooked, the sauce coated the noodles very well, and the peanuts added a nice texture. The sauce seems to be tomato based. The cabbage was nicely cooked, soft with a nice crunch. The lemon wedge definitely elevated the dish. Wish there was more shrimp for the added $2 price.
You have to get the coconut rice! It's so addicting, I could probably just eat a bowl and be content. It's a nice flavor boost to pair with the curries and veggies. The table's group favorite was the Tea Leaf Salad and Chicken Curry. The Tea Leaf Salad was very refreshing since it was hot outside. The Chicken Curry was flavorful and cooked well.
Service was great, we were greeted and our waitress was attentive. We ordered the fiery tofu with vegetables and pineapple fried rice. Both were perfect, we can't recommend the fiery tofu enough! Great atmosphere too. We hope to come back and try other dishes.
My family and I came to My Burma after church for Father's Day lunch. When we walked in just before 12pm, there were no customers, so were greeted and seated right away. Our server promptly came over with the menus, take our drink orders and greeted me, "Happy Father's Day". Soon after our order was taken, the restaurant got busier and busier. They have a decent of amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. They were prepared and was staffed well. There was no hiccups in service and our food came out quickly. Food (5 stars): - Tea Leaf Salad: had lots of textures between the crunch of the salad, seeds, peanuts, crunchy garlic, etc. The fermented tea leaf dressing was delicious with a little saltiness, oils and maybe a hint of vinegar. - Mango Chicken: nice mango flavor with strips of mango. - Sesame Beef: good flavors, not overly salty or sweet like at other restaurants. - Burmese Eggplant Curry: thick and saucy, light curry flavor that is not overpowering, think cuts of eggplant, tasty over rice - Burmese Style Pad Thai: we got it with tofu, you can choose with chicken (+$1) or shrimp (+$2). Very similar to flavors to traditional Pad Thai at a Thai restaurant, maybe slightly drier. Service (5+ stars): I need to give our server (Heaven W.) props for excellent service! Not only did she come around frequently (even as the restaurant got busy) to check on us, she asked to refill our waters without us asking and even made an attempt for some small talk such as asking if were from Davis or out of town and asking what we were planning on doing after our meal. She did a great job serving all the other tables both inside and outside. It's been a while since I've encountered this level of service. Thank you Heaven W. for the "heavenly" service! If the owners are reading this review, she is a keeper! All the employees looked like they enjoy working there and working with each other. We will definitely return for more of their delicious food and hopefully more great service.
i was excited to try burmese food, and this restaurant in Davis is an elite spot overall you are greeted at reception by host, who will seat you / get your takeout. i ordered mango shrimps and mint chicken. both dishes were delicious and perfectly seasoned: flavors are present 100% this place represent burmese food very greatly, and makes you want to return, just for the great food, taste and flavors
Drove to Davis on a Saturday night to have dinner with my son. Decided on something nicer for a change. Decided to try this spot for the reviews. Place was not packed so we were greeted and seated quick. Ordered quick too as we were pretty hungry. Ended up ordering a few things. Food came out quick and all very tasty. Wish the portions were a bit larger for the price. But, it was very tasty. Place is pretty quiet and chill. Service was ok but could be better for the price. Overall, we were happy and will definitely be back. read more

Food is yum and service is quick and spot on. We tried the combination fried rice , spicy noodles ( not so spicy) and mint chicken! Every dish was delicious including the papaya salad which was nice and crunchy and fresh ! Loved the ambience- good family feel to the place ! read more
Coming from the Bay Area, one of the things I have missed the most was good Burmese food... and happily My Burma has filled that longing! I enjoyed sitting on the lovely patio - comfy seating and lots of fresh air! Our server was so kind and patient with us, and made a great suggestion that I will now have each time I return (spoiler - it's the eggplant!). The food is fresh, plentiful, and delicious! The tea leaf salad is a must, with so many wonderful tastes and textures, the chili lamb is spicy and tender, and the garlic eggplant was off the hook! read more

Another fantastic experience at My Burma! Dinner here is turning into a tradition every time I come home to visit. The food is reliably delicious and service is always great, so this has become a place I'm more than happy to keep coming back to. This time I tried the blackpepper shrimp and lemongrass tofu with rice. The shrimp was amazing - perfectly seasoned, not too oily, and a good ratio of shrimp to peppers and onions. The lemongrass tofu wasn't my favorite thing on the menu, but it was still a really good vegetarian option. I also tried the Burmese milk tea for the first time. I would definitely recommend it, especially for sitting outside on a cold day. Our server described it as a cross between Thai tea and chai, and I'd pretty much agree. read more

I tried the Burmese restaurant here before it became My Burma and I was not impressed. I decided to give this new Burmese restaurant a shot. My family is Burmese so we have pretty high expectations, the bay area has better Burmese food in general. Pros: service was quick and our waitress checked in on us often. We ordered multiple dishes and got a good sense of the menu. Some of the dishes were too salty such as the lemongrass chicken. I did enjoy the chicken coconut curry noodle soup, are usually have to try this dish at each Burmese restaurant I go to. Overall, the food was decent and it's good for Sacramento to have one Burmese restaurant without having to go to the Bay Area. Parking is pretty easy and there is plenty of seating. They were able to accommodate our group of 7. Cons: portions for small especially for the price you pay. Some of the food was too salty like the chicken and the pineapple fried rice was a bit strange. They had huge chunks of pineapple on the side of the fried rice. read more

I'm always down for an ethnic meal of rare cuisine. Burmese and Himalayan cuisines are always welcome on my palette. Two different friends, one vegan one omnivore, both recommended the fermented tea leaf salad. At first I balked. Both because I don't like to order salads at a restaurant, and I don't care for peppers. Well, I'm very glad we got it and split it. Although I could have gobbled it up myself. And I ate the tiny pieces of jalapeno without knowing it! Well, until the end, when I left the ones I saw. LOL! When my friend mentioned she doesn't like curry, I abolished that thought. We opted for pad Thai with chicken, substituting bells for broccoli. It was ok. I much prefer the pad Thai at a certain North Highlands restaurant. Service was great. Especially with just two servers for the entire restaurant! Found a parking space on the street in the shade and it's easy access off the freeway. Plus inside dining (loud, warm on a summer afternoon) or two separate areas for patio dining. I liked the front - grassy view with lots of chill people watching. read more
I am always in search of a good tea leaf salad esp being so far from the city, we've had B.S.S. and Y. - so there will always be comparisons. My Burma in Davis, I will say is pretty tasty and we truly enjoyed our meal! Their tea leaf salad was very appetizing and all our other dishes were comparably delicious: Platha & Vegetable Curry Dip Samusas, Pumpkin Chicken Stew, Garlic Noodles w/ Tofu, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce...alllll great choices. Heather, who assisted our table was very attentive and efficient, always checking on drink refills and how everything tasted. A really enjoyable dinner and in a beautiful spaced plaza. Whenever I want to go out for a nice lunch or dinner with friends, I take them to My Burma. Solid more fancy ambiance but still relatively budget friendly ($16-$20 for entree). I always order the Tea Leaf Salad as a shared appetizer because it is unique and delicious. They mix the salad for you and it is a zesty, refreshing mix of fresh lettuce and chopped tomato with fermented tea leaves and the most delicious assortment of fried garlic chips, sunflower seeds, and crispy nuts. My go to entrees are any of the curries with potatoes, especially the chicken or the beef. You cannot go wrong. read more
Solid, just like the Pleasanton location. Food is the same and cocktails are essentially the same except for one major flaw that I hope gets rectified asap. The Davis location does not Lychee's for the Lychee Martini which turns out to be an off menu item anyway. Buy some Lychees! read more
Second time I think to try this place and my friends their first time. We got the Blackpepper Chicken and this is the fourth in my series of chicken dishes from different places. This dish is very flavorful and the blackpepper sauce is just the right amount to make it peppery. For my taste, not spicy at all. This is actually my favorite dish out of all the food we got. We also got Tea Leaf Salad, Burmese Mix Vegetables Curry, Lemongrass Pork, Burmese Style Pad Thai, Burmese Pineapple Fried Rice, and Coconut Rice. The coconut rice was tasty and I liked it. The lemongrass pork was spicy. One issue though is that we got one of the bell peppers in one of the dishes that still had the produce sticker on and we brought it to the staff attention. The nice lady helping us shared info with the kitchen and they took care of it. Thank you. The place gets busy lunch time and is nice place for families. Fell in love with their fried chicken so I came back for their other dishes. I had their fried chicken with their fish sauce togo. This time my friend and I ordered the sumusas and Honey Fried Chicken to start. The sumusas were delicious! It wasn't like the thick fried dough. Instead it was egg roll skins. They're fairly big and stuffed! The fried chickens were a good size, crispy, and juicy. The honey was well coated and not too sticky. I got the Burmese chicken biryani. There seems to be a strong bold tamarind flavor. I expected the chicken to be shredded in it but it was a quarter of a chicken. The cilantro was a great garnish. My friend got the Nan Gyi Thok. It had a good taste that was kind of new to me. read more

Great burmese food with tea leaves that are fermented in Burma for 30 days and sent here for their tea leas salad! One of my favorite items to get! We came here on a Wednesday night upon closing and it was pretty warm inside and outside. We started with drinks and I asked what the special cocktail was and it was a watermelon margarita-- so good! My friends got lavendar martinis. We got platha with coconut chicken curry, tea leaf salad. Mint chicken, garlic noodles with bbq pork and sides of coconut rice. I would say it was a well balanced meal for 3. We even had leftovers. Service was great and our server knew his stuff, was very efficient and took care of us well! Parking can be difficult when it's busy but in a pretty convenient area downtown! read more

Walking distance from the hotel in Davis, a friend recommended this place to me and I took him up on it. Walked over and ordered some of my "go to's" such as young coconut juice, tea leaf salad, combination fried rice and a new one for me, curry chicken potato. The place has indoor and outdoor dining options, a nice place with plenty of room. It's located in an area that has many options, but this is one you definitely have to try. The staff is very friendly and asked if I needed any help navigating the menu. I like the fact you can see the kitchen too so I can spy on the cooks lol. They did an excellent job all around. The food came out and the salad was awesome! I'm a little jaded when it comes to Burmese food having a Burmese friend that owns a restaurant in the Bay Area and having frequented Burma Superstar in Alameda CA (another must if you're in that area). The drink is a tender coconut with the juice and a spoon to dig out the "meat" of the young coconut. I love this and get it wherever it's available. The main course of the curry chicken potato and combo rice came out and it was good too. The curry is mild but still has very good flavor. The combo rice is also good and chock full of goodies like various meats and shrimp. All in all, a really good place to eat and enjoy the food. Ambiance is nice and depending on the weather, inside or outside seating for your pleasure. read more

Came here after the UC Davis graduation. It was busy, but luckily there were still some tables. Opted to sit inside because it was hot. However, there wasn't really any AC. Went family style to try a few things. Platha & coconut chicken curry dip was good. There wasn't much chicken though. The platha reminded me a lot of roti. Tea leaf salad was okay. It's not the best I've had. It was definitely more acidic than fermented. Sesame chicken was very tangy. There was a light crispiness. Burmese beef curry with potatoes was fine. Combination fried rice had a bit of wok hay. A solid fried rice. Overall, it was okay. Prices are decent, and portion sizes aren't bad. read more

The restaurant is super spacious, really great ambiance. I went with friends who had Burmese food from San Francisco, but this was my first time. The hostess was awesome, helped us with recommendations. Ordered a Nam Gyi Thok (noodle dish), Burmese beef curry potatoes, and a coconut rice. The noodle dish has curry, pea powder, a hard boiled egg, chicken, was super delicious. Good kick of spice and flavor. As for the curry, the beef was chewy, not tender, so that is something to change. Had a slight mixed up in rice, received a jasmine instead of a coconut, but the hostess just gave both bowls of rice. The coconut rice was a bit watery, but great sweetness level. Overall, I would order a different protein curry. read more
Love my Burma! I have been here a few times and I always get the Nan Gyi Dok and the tea leaf salad. The Nan gyi dok has really great flavors and I love how there's a variety of texture and flavors within the broth. This continues especially with the tea leaf salad I love how there was lemon juice to add brightness along with a variety of textures from the nuts to the sesames to the vegetables. The service here was also really good as well(the server cracked jokes with us as he mixed the noodles and salad) and was pretty quiet given that we came at non peak hours. read more
First time experiencing Burmese food. It was delicious! I had pumpkin shrimp curry over rice. Davis is a college town and there were a few college groups in on a Saturday night, let's just say it's wasn't a quiet atmosphere, but it was an enjoyable evening. Our food did not take long to be served. Speaking of being served, our serving was friendly and answered our questions accordingly. We will def return! read more

We enjoyed our lunch at My Burma - the food was great, the service was friendly but sloooow. We shared the sambusa soup as an appetizer - it was great, but wasn't served hot enough for our taste. Would get this again but ask for it to be served hot next time! The Burmese eggplant curry was good, too, especially with the addition of chili oil :). My daughter enjoyed her spicy wok fried noodles with tofu. Definitely a great option when in Davis! read more

Had a good lunch. Tea leaf salad was the star. Pepper chicken was soft and juicy. Service is good. 1 star less due to pricing. I know this is Davis but seemed a little expensive especially for lunch. Maybe they should have a special menu for lunch. read more

Staff was great. Food was amazing. They can accommodate larger groups with reservation. Had the lemongrass shrimp. Will warn that medium heat was a little spicy for me but that's subjective! Will be coming here when back in town read more
