We went last night for the first time and to be honest it wasn't our first choice but we were hungry and not going to wait 90 minutes for a table. This place will absolutely be our first choice in the future. It was busy and we're not picky so we sat at the bar. It turned out to be the best dining experience we've had in a long time and here is why: Immediately we were greeted by the bartender. She was friendly, welcoming and gave us some guidance on the menu. She wasn't over the top or pushing us just like "hey new friends let me give you some ideas and some time to figure it out". Drinks. After scanning the cocktail menu I had narrowed it down and asked about the blackberry smash. Bartender smiles big and says it's her favorite. It is now my favorite too! We also had the mint tea and it hit the spot. Food. We considered the recommendations made by the bartender and ended up with Samusas and Platha and vegetable curry dip for an appetizer and the sesame chicken with coconut rice as our shared entree. All three from start to end were delicious and I would order again but I can't wait to try other things on the menu. The coconut rice was fabulous and was really a good pairing with the sesame chicken. The chicken was flavored perfectly. Yum yum yum. The service and ambiance. It's a busy area in Davis on the weekends and now that I've been to My Burma I'm happy they are busy and buzzing. It's a basic restaurant to be honest but it's all about the cocktails, the food, and the conversation. This is not a quiet dinner kind of place (it might be quieter on the patio) as the staff is bustling and busting their tooshies off to get food and drinks out. If you like a little entertainment I suggest sitting at the bar. We really did get dinner and a show. It was a fun spot to interact with the staff and see what everyone else was ordering so we know what to try next time. I tried the Burmese restaurant here before it became My Burma and I was not impressed. I decided to give this new Burmese restaurant a shot. My family is Burmese so we have pretty high expectations, the bay area has better Burmese food in general. Pros: service was quick and our waitress checked in on us often. We ordered multiple dishes and got a good sense of the menu. Some of the dishes were too salty such as the lemongrass chicken. I did enjoy the chicken coconut curry noodle soup, are usually have to try this dish at each Burmese restaurant I go to. Overall, the food was decent and it's good for Sacramento to have one Burmese restaurant without having to go to the Bay Area. Parking is pretty easy and there is plenty of seating. They were able to accommodate our group of 7. Cons: portions for small especially for the price you pay. Some of the food was too salty like the chicken and the pineapple fried rice was a bit strange. They had huge chunks of pineapple on the side of the fried rice. read more

Two different friends, one vegan one omnivore, both recommended the fermented tea leaf salad. At first I balked. Both because I don't like to order salads at a restaurant, and I don't care for peppers. Well, I'm very glad we got it and split it. Although I could have gobbled it up myself. And I ate the tiny pieces of jalapeno without knowing it! Well, until the end, when I left the ones I saw. LOL! When my friend mentioned she doesn't like curry, I abolished that thought. We opted for pad Thai with chicken, substituting bells for broccoli. It was ok. I much prefer the pad Thai at a certain North Highlands restaurant. Service was great. Especially with just two servers for the entire restaurant! Found a parking space on the street in the shade and it's easy access off the freeway. Whenever I want to go out for a nice lunch or dinner with friends, I take them to My Burma. Solid more fancy ambiance but still relatively budget friendly ($16-$20 for entree). I always order the Tea Leaf Salad as a shared appetizer because it is unique and delicious. They mix the salad for you and it is a zesty, refreshing mix of fresh lettuce and chopped tomato with fermented tea leaves and the most delicious assortment of fried garlic chips, sunflower seeds, and crispy nuts. We came here on a Wednesday night upon closing and it was pretty warm inside and outside. We started with drinks and I asked what the special cocktail was and it was a watermelon margarita-- so good! Walking distance from the hotel in Davis, a friend recommended this place to me and I took him up on it. Walked over and ordered some of my "go to's" such as young coconut juice, tea leaf salad, combination fried rice and a new one for me, curry chicken potato. The place has indoor and outdoor dining options, a nice place with plenty of room. It's located in an area that has many options, but this is one you definitely have to try. The staff is very friendly and asked if I needed any help navigating the menu. I like the fact you can see the kitchen too so I can spy on the cooks lol. They did an excellent job all around. I'm a little jaded when it comes to Burmese food having a Burmese friend that owns a restaurant in the Bay Area and having frequented Burma Superstar in Alameda CA (another must if you're in that area). The drink is a tender coconut with the juice and a spoon to dig out the "meat" of the young coconut. I love this and get it wherever it's available. The Nan gyi dok has really great flavors and I love how there's a variety of texture and flavors within the broth. This continues especially with the tea leaf salad I love how there was lemon juice to add brightness along with a variety of textures from the nuts to the sesames to the vegetables. Exceptional meal! I came here to treat myself to lunch while my dog was at UC Davis preparing for brain surgery. I was touched by how caring and professional my waiter, Dylan was. My Burma was really solid! My friends were coming back from a marathon in Sacramento, and they were flexible to us showing up at different times. I appreciate how our server asked if we wanted the salad to come out before the other items! I thought the milk tea was a good amount of sweet. Everything tasted solid, and food came out continuously so it was okay that some stuff took longer. Over the years, the only weird thing about this place is if you have a party of 6+ (or maybe 8, I can't remember exactly) they make you use a smaller limited menu and something else weird. One time we ran into friends as we were both planning to eat here and asked them to sit together, they said they couldn't accommodate, so we said that's fine we'll sit separately, and they still said they couldn't accommodate. They said they can only accommodate if we do take out. Might have been a staffing shortage, who knows. There were tables open... not really sure what that was about. The noodle dish has curry, pea powder, a hard boiled egg, chicken, was super delicious. Good kick of spice and flavor. As for the curry, the beef was chewy, not tender, so that is something to change. Had a slight mixed up in rice, received a jasmine instead of a coconut, but the hostess just gave both bowls of rice. Usually I just order their veg chaat and paratha to go bc it's so damn good and I love in Sac so K don't have it often and think about it a lot. We came here after picking up our beautiful niece at UC Davis for a visit. I'm so glad there's a delicious Burmese restaurant near campus. The service was fantastic as well. A trip to My Burma was worth the trek over the causeway to get that tea leaf salad. Ours wasn't prepared tableside like so many others have mentioned, but delicious all the same. The place was busy and the servers seemed rushed, so that's probably the reason we got lackluster service. Still, the tea leaf salad was worth it. Crunchy and flavorful, this is definitely a must order. The samusas were made of flaky rice paper and terrific. Similar to an Indian samosa in shape and filling, but without all the dough, which can be so hit or miss at most places. These were leaps above any Indian samosa I've ever had and will definitely be another item I order the next time I eat here. The menu is filled with vegetarian and vegan items and I love how things are clearly marked. The Burmese Mixed Vegetable Curry was a let-down in flavor and was pretty watery, so I'll try something new next time. That, or I'll just feast on samusas and tea leaf salad.
