One of the best Thai meals I've had in a long while. And of all places in Vallejo! The surrounding area is typical of the aging downtown but don't be deterred in trying their food. Simple Thai is on the busy main road (Tennessee). Street parking was easy to find. Be warned this is not the nicest area... We walked by a homeless man sleeping in front of a nearby store. The interior looks pretty clean. We arrived on the weekend for an early dinner. The restaurant was quiet. Definitely has a mom and pops feel. The food was very cheap. Well worth the price. I ordered from this restaurant through doordash. Took one bit of their green beans (literally one bite) and immediately felt shooting pain up my jaw as I crunched down on a rock hard piece of garlic. I'm in excruciating pain, unable to open my mouth or move my jaw at all without severe nerve pain. It's insane that they would serve garlic that is this hard, the pieces are seriously like little rocks, they are impossible to chew or bite down on. I'm writing this review as I wait for advice from a nurse friend because I'm so stunned that any kitchen would serve food like this. I'm Asian as well so I understand using fried garlic but this is next level insanity. I can't even talk or move my tongue in my mouth without feeling excruciating jolts of pain. Makes me distrust the level of food quality overall. And on top of that, the green beans were also overcooked, mushy, and stringy. Ordering from this place was the worst mistake I've made in a very long time. Edit: Just realized this place closed right when my delivery arrived. Maybe they gave me old food that was overcooked or sitting out since they were closing soon? Regardless, I will not be touching any of the other items I ordered. If we had gotten the same exact food delivered from DoorDash, it would've been $82! Everything was delicious and we would definitely order from them again. Great food! We were a party of 7 and I called to make a reservation. The restaurant called me to confirm the reservation. The table was good and ready when we got there. Not much of a decor for the ambiance. It's quite dark inside but clean and roomy. The service was really good as we WW were served immediately. We ordered a total of 9 dishes and Thai iced tea. All the dishes were pretty good and may 7/9 were 5 star. My favorite was the veggie dish Francisco Special. Oh, the crab and pineapple fried rice were delicious as well. Came here with me and my son after a basketball game. Parking was kind of hard but manageable because you had to park on the street. Environment was kind of dark, but the customer service was excellent. We ordered papaya salad, which was extremely hot but very tasty. Ok, I decided to give this place another chance. The memory of the food was too enticing not to. And I have to say, it was a big improvement. Our food came out much faster. Service was still not anything to write home about, but was at least courteous and prompt. I've tried to be a consistent patron of this little place but they make it extremely difficult. For example, I called in one evening to order yum neua and was told that they were out of lettuce. When 7 out of 9 salads on the menu are served over a bed of lettuce why would you let yourself run out? The menu is a little odd too. They don't have sticky rice. They don't have pumpkin curry. They don't have beef or chicken larb but they have duck larb. Huh? Their advertised hours state they are closed on Mondays but many times I have gone there on other days and they've been closed in the evening. I can't help but wonder how they manage to stay in business. Most of the dishes I've tried have been good. A couple just meh. When they're open and serving you can enjoy a solid meal. One just has to hope that they're open and once you're inside, that the dishes you order are available. read more
