I LOVE LOVE LOVE Simple Thai. I'm willing to drive from Fairfield to Vallejo to dine here. I've never been disappointed in any dish I've ordered. You can feel the love put into all their food. It's truly family run and feels like nostalgia. The staff have the gift of remembering all their patrons. Everyone should support this business.

    Phra-Ram

We took my dad here for lunch on Saturday. It was calm and quiet inside with attentive service. The food was delicious and flavorful and we received large portions and had plenty of leftovers. We ordered papaya salad with medium spice, basil fried rice, pad-kee mao with beef, blistered green beans, and phra-ram with prawns. We will definitely be back when we are back in Vallejo!

Food is made fresh to order. Service is friendly and giving very mom & pop local business. Ambiance is spacious and open, sad they don't have more people to come & dine inside. I came on a random Thursday night though. I'd likely come back cuz my sis said this spot is good!

Penang curry, Garlic pepper calamari & garlic rice.

One of the best Thai meals I've had in a long while. And of all places in Vallejo! The surrounding area is typical of the aging downtown but don't be deterred in trying their food. I cannot rave enough about their garlic pepper calamari, Penang curry and Tom Kha Ga soup. So delicious - all the dishes left your taste buds wanting more but your tummy says no! I loved their garlic rice as well. When I visit this town next, I will definitely have another meal or take a to-go order back home over an hour away...

Green beans contained rock hard garlic that sent me to urgent care

I ordered from this restaurant through doordash. Took one bit of their green beans (literally one bite) and immediately felt shooting pain up my jaw as I crunched down on a rock hard piece of garlic. I'm in excruciating pain, unable to open my mouth or move my jaw at all without severe nerve pain. It's insane that they would serve garlic that is this hard, the pieces are seriously like little rocks, they are impossible to chew or bite down on. I'm writing this review as I wait for advice from a nurse friend because I'm so stunned that any kitchen would serve food like this. I'm Asian as well so I understand using fried garlic but this is next level insanity. I can't even talk or move my tongue in my mouth without feeling excruciating jolts of pain. Makes me distrust the level of food quality overall. And on top of that, the green beans were also overcooked, mushy, and stringy. Ordering from this place was the worst mistake I've made in a very long time. Edit: Just realized this place closed right when my delivery arrived. Maybe they gave me old food that was overcooked or sitting out since they were closing soon? Regardless, I will not be touching any of the other items I ordered. Not worth the risk when they don't have standards for what comes out of their kitchen. I'll be escalating this issue through Doordash since I may need to seek medical attention. Sounds ridiculous and I can't believe I'm saying it but it's true!

    Smelled funny.

Rude completely. Had lunch here today wasn't the best but ok. Ordered some pad Thai to go. When opened at home it had a funny smell. Naturally I call back. They weren't very happy. Accusing that I am lying. For $13.95 I'm going to lie. Really? So I wasn't going to return it. I wanted to let them know what's up but I decided that I should let them know for quality control. I arrive at the place and asked them to smell it and they say I'm not used to eating their style of Thai food. I was like I eat Thai all the time. Never had I had anything smell like that. Didn't want to get to an argument then comes the owners wife telling me how I should react to the food that they made that smelled funny. I really didnt want to argue but remember this is just for $13.95. You gonna argue with your customer? I said we'll try again next time and she says they'd rather not and I should go to my Filipino place! I was like what? ( I am Filipino btw). Instead of taking a review of your product and berating your customer I would've said apologies sir let's try again. But not with this place. I had better Thai in Trader Joe's frozen section. Geez never again. I really wanted to like this place but..

This place is super yummy!!…read more We were in Vallejo last weekend for a specialty dog show, and it was the end of a long day. I was craving Thai food and found this place while looking through Yelp. The prices and the food looked great, so we quickly headed over to Thai Place to fix our growling stomachs. Thai Place is a tiny restaurant but with a cozy atmosphere. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering. We arrived around an odd time of the afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty empty, save for a few patrons finishing up their meal. I hadn't had curry in a long time, so I went with the pumpkin red curry with pork, while my husband chose the crispy chicken herb fried rice. For our appetizer we went with a potato curry puff (basically a curry empanada). I didn't order a Thai tea as it was later in the day and I didn't want to be bouncing off the walls that night, but from what I saw, the Thai tea looked good and I made it a point to try it next time we were in the area. Our appetizer arrived pretty quickly, and it was steaming hot. The cucumber salad on the side was delicious and cut the richness of the curry puffs beautifully. We devoured every last bite. Our entrees were next to arrive, and the portion sizes were pretty big! We hadn't eaten all day, but if we had had lunch, I feel like we wouldn't have been able to finish our food. The curry was delectable with a deep, bold flavor and the pumpkin was cooked perfectly. The pork was tender and the rice was soft and fluffy. My husband's crispy chicken was breaded beautifully and the fried rice underneath was flavorful. He also enjoyed the dipping sauce for the chicken. He took a small box of leftovers back to our Airbnb to enjoy later that evening. For the quality of the food we enjoyed, the price point of Thai Place is definitely hard to beat. There aren't many selections of good food in Vallejo, and I'm super glad we found this hidden gem. Our server was also very attentive and came by often made sure that our waters were filled and the food was up to our liking. I'd love to return the next time we are in the area for a dog show, and definitely recommend Thai Place for anyone who needs their Thai food fix!

Neither of us…read moreknew much about restaurants in the area, but we "Yelped" a bit, and Pearl Thai caught our eye. Very glad it did! We were greeted by a gentleman with a fun sense of humor - can't really explain it, but he made us smile. The place is small, but very welcoming. We were shown to a window booth, where we chatted a bit before we looked at the menu. The server came to take our order and we had barely even looked. She told us to take all the time we needed. Eventually, we made our decisions. My friend got one of the lunch combos - a chicken curry (she chose red curry, you can also choose green or yellow), and I don't remember what the other combo item was. But everything looked delightful on her plate! On our way into the restaurant, I spotted a sign with a lunch special on it - crispy chicken kao soi, a noodle dish, and it looked good, so that's what I requested. It was quite yummy! The best part was the deeply flavored sauce that the noodles were nestled into - I could put it in a cup and drink it, it was soooo good, lots of savory fish sauce and just enough spice to keep it interesting. Besides the noodles actually in the sauce, there were crispy fried noodles on top as well, adding a nice texture variety. The picture doesn't really do it justice. I was hungry and dove in before I remembered to take the photo, oops. The chicken was breaded and laid on top of the noodles in thin slices, very nice and crunchy. We had Thai hot tea with our lunch - not the sweet kind, but the nice clean-flavored hot tea. It went perfectly with our dishes. I don't know exactly when either of us will get back to Benicia again, but if and when we do, I hope we can stop by Pearl Thai again!

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more None of their dishes have fish sauce so you don't get knocked over the head with the smell when you walk in. They remind me every time I order, but as a vegetarian, we've all had that fish smell delivered to us at a Thai restaurant at least once (probably twice, more likely three times) in our eating lifetimes. It is such a relief to not have to worry about that here. Would I Come Back? Yes, when I'm in town, I make it a point to come here. Did I mention they don't use fish sauce!? Parking is is incredibly easy so that's never an issue. It's a shared parking lot with many stores and other restaurants. I typically go on a Sunday for lunch, and even with a party of 5, I haven't had to wait for a table. Seating capacity is probably 45-50 guests so if you're planning a large party, definitely best to call ahead and make a reservation. The Food: Roti & Yellow Curry ($14, Grade A+): Fried roti with a yellow curry dipping sauce. It's a super savory dish, and honestly, I should have had you at "fried." If you're wondering what roti is, think of it as a buttery, flaky, pan-fried flatbread. It's large enough appetizer to share with 3 people, but you're pushing your luck with 4. Pad Thai with Fried Tofu ($16, Grade A): I've had this dish 5 times now. To be completely transparent, it's the exact reason why I can't give Pearl Thai a full 5-star rating, purely because of consistency. The first time I got it, it was perfect. The second and third times, it had no sauce and was dry. The fourth time, I asked them to make it saucy, and they obliged to an almost soupy level. For this fifth time, I just ordered it straight up and zipped my lip on any alterations. As they say, the fifth time was a charm! When it's made with the perfect amount of sauce, this dish is excellent. The noodles have that exact texture you look for in a pad thai, and the egg gets that great scorch from the wok for an added layer of flavor. Also, the tofu has been incredibly fresh every single time. It never tastes slightly spoiled, which happens a lot in smaller towns that don't heavily support plant-based diets where tofu just sits in a fridge eagerly awaiting someone to order it. Mixed Vegetables ($14, Grade A): Sautéed wood ear mushrooms and mixed vegetables in a garlic soy sauce. If you've ever had Pad Pak, you already know this flavor profile. I really enjoyed it, but next time I'll ask for no carrots and maybe half the garlic. Overall, it's a perfect dish that absolutely requires steamed rice to soak up all that great flavor. Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($8, Grade A): The classic dessert we see at all Thai restaurants, but they serve it with purple sticky rice, making it a visually yummy dish. It's plenty of food to share between two people. Bottom Line: The service here is great and very friendly. It's a small, local shop with "Best in Town" awards highlighted on the walls. The environment is clean, and the food is served hot and arrives at the table quick. One Last Word: Don't leave here without ordering the roti with yellow curry for an appetizer. Pure savory goodness!

This place is located in a small multi tenant shopping center located near the entrance of Hiddenbrooke with ample parking-so that was nice. This restaurant is for sure a local restaurant that serves the Hiddenbrooke community with most of their patrons being locals from the community. That was what we found upon arrival, most of the customers did seem to be locals in for a quick lunch. I would describe this place as an Asian fusion restaurant.-the depth of their menu was surprising-like "Cheesecake Factory-esque" level depth of menu.Their sushi menu was many pages and I hadn't even planned on getting sushi but after looking at this menu,I had to try something-so went with a simple Spicy Tuna Roll ($12.95). Off the Thai menu we decided to go with the Trio Meat Fried Rice ($20.95) Virgin Drunken Noodle ($18.95) Pad See U ($16.95) and Drunken Noodle ($16.95) Well I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to Asian fusion but I've had it more than a handful of times-so I can say with confidence that the food here was pretty good- very tasty-the Virgin Drunken Noodles were Interesting due to their use of glass noodles-the beef in that dish was seasoned well.I ordered my Drunken Noodles spicy and for that they delivered, quite a spicy dish. The Pad See U had really good veggies on it-very tasty and snappy. The Spicy Tuna Roll was pretty standard-the highlight being I somehow got my mother to try sushi for the 1st time by eating a piece of this sushi roll-she didn't hate it which I think is a pretty good review from a 73 year old Native American woman trying sushi for the 1st time. In closing,if u ever find yourself out in the Vallejo or Hiddenbrooke area and you want to give a small local business a try-this place is a pretty good choice-with a menu this big, your bound to find something on there that will make you happy. PS....I forgot to say I really enjoyed the house hot sake-pretty good flavor and perfect item to warm you up in this cold winter times we are in.

Moving on. The food was pretty good - we ordered A LOT of stuff to try. Chicken satay, and tempura shrimp apps, yum yai (a mixed meat salad) and duck salad, and of course, the staple for which to score a Thai place - pad Thai. The salads were DELISH. Like both perfectly balanced with ingredients & dressing. We had a lot of leftovers, so when I tell you that my savory self loooveess a cold salad for brekkies - you can keep those sweet treats for yourself. Skewers & tempura were a hot with my kids after a long park afternoon, and the pad Thai just hits - unctuous, umami, a little tangy-sour, a little like feet, but loaded with meats & fresh veggies. A home run meal for all of us. Did I mention we got another meal out of it the next morning? Yep. Lots of food. We were so hungry after a full day at Six Flags, I didn't even pause to take photos - we just big backed right in. The restaurant even gave me a few extra take out containers to use as bowls/plates & utensils for that hungry hotel dining experience! Price wise, it's Napa adjacent. Our 5 items with tip were just under $120. The only downside, and I DO NOT think this is a direct reflection on the restaurant, is the card we used for our order was hit with 11 pre-auths for that amount. I think this is their 3rd party ordering service, Menufy, which I'd never used prior to this order. For those following along, that totaled over $1k hold on funds. That can be a vacay wrecker, so keep an eye on those cards. They eventually dropped off, but just be wary of holds, especially while traveling.
