    Healthy bowl - salmon mmm

Love this place. The food is excellent, it's as if I'm back in Thailand. They are really nice and the same waitress has been here for a long long time. She has always been so nice to us, I've seen some reviews and I couldn't be happier with the staff. They are sooo very nice . The places has - ibeen remodeled a little since I ate in last. And I'm happy to see the photos of the Royal Family are here with the Budda's. I feel very welcome and know you will too. We took it to go because we came so late. They didn't disappoint . The land of smiles was had by all

We didn't realize the time we showed up they were gonna close less than 30 minutes. They still accommodated us , took our drink and food order fast. We ordered the fried calamari, drunken noodles, scampi prawn, and pad Thai ... no complaints on any of the food would definitely order again. We will definitely keep an eye on the time next time

It has been years since I have been to Mai Thai. Met a friend for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I had fresh spring rolls. They could have used more mint but they were good and peanut sauce was creamy but not greasy like the last place I ate. The Thai iced tea was, well sweet, but good. I had a crispy chicken with garlic? It came out super crunchy and had great flavor. Nothing comes with rice so you had to buy a side of rice then put it under the food you were served. The chicken needed more sauce and needed to be served with rice on the bottom. Other than that, no complaints. I will definitely e back

Yellow curry and drunken fried rice

Do you love Thai food like me?! This is the spot! Another hidden gem, this place is soooo delicious! I've tried most things but my favorite is the drunken fried rice!!! Although, the scampi prawns, pineapple crispy chicken, papaya salad are favs as well. The service is a tad slow, but I attribute that to all the food being made with love. They have daily specials as well, so try some things on the board if you are feeling adventurous! It's a quaint place, not very big, and it's in Benicia. After dinner, take a stroll by the water if the weather is nice.

The service was accommodating to us when we came in. Though my family came in for a long-awaited reunion and the volume of my family may have overwhelmed the staff, because the main dishes didn't come out as great as we anticipated it would be. All the same, the Thai tea tasted good, appetizers were mouth-watering, and the ambiance was calming.

Haven't been here in years, but since I was in town, my family and I decided to eat in Benicia. S E R V I C E: We arrived a couple of minutes before they opened for dinner at 5, and they let us in right on the dot! The menu seemed different compared to the last time I came, so I was very intrigued. We were served right away and staff was very friendly with smiles :) F O O D: We ordered cheese Rangoon for appetizer and I loved how light and crispy they were. I could honestly eat a whole plate to myself haha. For the main dishes, we shared their crispy pineapple chicken, chicken pad Thai, and green curry with sides of rice. The pad Thai was my favorite; it was creamy and noodles were perfectly cooked. The green curry has always been a favorite of mine, and the crispy chicken is something I normally don't order! However I was pleasantly surprised. For dessert, we obviously had to get mango and sticky rice! I loved how the rice was green! O V E R A L L: This place will always be one of my favorite Thai restaurants. You can't go wrong having a date night here along with its moody ambiance or having family dinner with how spacious it is here! .

Pretty standard Thai. The ambiance is super chill with lots of seating. Service was really nice and efficient. Loved how it's on first street and you can take a nice walk after stuffing yourself. We ordered the Pad See Ew and the Thai Crying tiger steak. Maybe I'm a little bias, but Thai food is top 5 for me when it comes to food. So I thought the food was delicious. Overall, this place is chill if you're trying to have dinner by yourself or chill with your significant other. Highly recommended if you're into Thai food.

Pad Thai Noodle, thai fried rice
    Ray T.

I love Thai food, this place was disappointing. The portions are much smaller than other places (see fried rice). The rice was super plain, I ended up adding salt. I order Thai fried rice at every Thai place I go to and this is bottom tier. The pad Thai was one dimensional and tasted overly sweet, lacking any other seasoning. It was the worse of all the dishes (2/5 stars). The red and yellow curries were the better dishes and had nice flavors, but still like some seasonings with mostly a powerful coconut taste. The garlic entree was mediocre, wasn't bad, but wasn't good. I recommend going to pearl thai on South Hampton, flavors are better there.

Tom Kha Soup, pineapple crispy Chicken, and Larb Chicken Salad.

The Tom Kha soup is the best I've ever had! The broth is perfect! Our server was very helpful and attentive. Such a cute place to come grab a delicious meal.

I take back everything I previously said... I am so sorry. I've gone to Mai Tai the last two times my friends wanted Thai food and I have to say I'm really impressed. Service has been point and the decor really has grown on me. But man the food... The Pas See Ew has been really good each time ive gotten it. It definitely makes me want to try the Drunken Noodles again sometime. I think I just have been wanting a break on spicy food. The Massaman Curry has also really hit the spot too. Theres just something so comforting about carrots and potatoes in a curry. Our neighbors ordered a really tasty dessert that I might not of normally tried. I definitely recommend the Mango with the Sticky Rice. As much as it looks like it would be super sweet, it doesn't taste as sweet as I thought it would be. The Mango definitely is the hook of the dish. But the rice and coconut sauce definitely smooth the meal out. Definitely will be back!

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more None of their dishes have fish sauce so you don't get knocked over the head with the smell when you walk in. They remind me every time I order, but as a vegetarian, we've all had that fish smell delivered to us at a Thai restaurant at least once (probably twice, more likely three times) in our eating lifetimes. It is such a relief to not have to worry about that here. Would I Come Back? Yes, when I'm in town, I make it a point to come here. Did I mention they don't use fish sauce!? Parking is is incredibly easy so that's never an issue. It's a shared parking lot with many stores and other restaurants. I typically go on a Sunday for lunch, and even with a party of 5, I haven't had to wait for a table. Seating capacity is probably 45-50 guests so if you're planning a large party, definitely best to call ahead and make a reservation. The Food: Roti & Yellow Curry ($14, Grade A+): Fried roti with a yellow curry dipping sauce. It's a super savory dish, and honestly, I should have had you at "fried." If you're wondering what roti is, think of it as a buttery, flaky, pan-fried flatbread. It's large enough appetizer to share with 3 people, but you're pushing your luck with 4. Pad Thai with Fried Tofu ($16, Grade A): I've had this dish 5 times now. To be completely transparent, it's the exact reason why I can't give Pearl Thai a full 5-star rating, purely because of consistency. The first time I got it, it was perfect. The second and third times, it had no sauce and was dry. The fourth time, I asked them to make it saucy, and they obliged to an almost soupy level. For this fifth time, I just ordered it straight up and zipped my lip on any alterations. As they say, the fifth time was a charm! When it's made with the perfect amount of sauce, this dish is excellent. The noodles have that exact texture you look for in a pad thai, and the egg gets that great scorch from the wok for an added layer of flavor. Also, the tofu has been incredibly fresh every single time. It never tastes slightly spoiled, which happens a lot in smaller towns that don't heavily support plant-based diets where tofu just sits in a fridge eagerly awaiting someone to order it. Mixed Vegetables ($14, Grade A): Sautéed wood ear mushrooms and mixed vegetables in a garlic soy sauce. If you've ever had Pad Pak, you already know this flavor profile. I really enjoyed it, but next time I'll ask for no carrots and maybe half the garlic. Overall, it's a perfect dish that absolutely requires steamed rice to soak up all that great flavor. Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($8, Grade A): The classic dessert we see at all Thai restaurants, but they serve it with purple sticky rice, making it a visually yummy dish. It's plenty of food to share between two people. Bottom Line: The service here is great and very friendly. It's a small, local shop with "Best in Town" awards highlighted on the walls. The environment is clean, and the food is served hot and arrives at the table quick. One Last Word: Don't leave here without ordering the roti with yellow curry for an appetizer. Pure savory goodness!

This place is super yummy!!…read more We were in Vallejo last weekend for a specialty dog show, and it was the end of a long day. I was craving Thai food and found this place while looking through Yelp. The prices and the food looked great, so we quickly headed over to Thai Place to fix our growling stomachs. Thai Place is a tiny restaurant but with a cozy atmosphere. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering. We arrived around an odd time of the afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty empty, save for a few patrons finishing up their meal. I hadn't had curry in a long time, so I went with the pumpkin red curry with pork, while my husband chose the crispy chicken herb fried rice. For our appetizer we went with a potato curry puff (basically a curry empanada). I didn't order a Thai tea as it was later in the day and I didn't want to be bouncing off the walls that night, but from what I saw, the Thai tea looked good and I made it a point to try it next time we were in the area. Our appetizer arrived pretty quickly, and it was steaming hot. The cucumber salad on the side was delicious and cut the richness of the curry puffs beautifully. We devoured every last bite. Our entrees were next to arrive, and the portion sizes were pretty big! We hadn't eaten all day, but if we had had lunch, I feel like we wouldn't have been able to finish our food. The curry was delectable with a deep, bold flavor and the pumpkin was cooked perfectly. The pork was tender and the rice was soft and fluffy. My husband's crispy chicken was breaded beautifully and the fried rice underneath was flavorful. He also enjoyed the dipping sauce for the chicken. He took a small box of leftovers back to our Airbnb to enjoy later that evening. For the quality of the food we enjoyed, the price point of Thai Place is definitely hard to beat. There aren't many selections of good food in Vallejo, and I'm super glad we found this hidden gem. Our server was also very attentive and came by often made sure that our waters were filled and the food was up to our liking. I'd love to return the next time we are in the area for a dog show, and definitely recommend Thai Place for anyone who needs their Thai food fix!
