Large parking lot. Inside seating only. Outside chairs are for people on wait list. Quickly & courteously seated. English & Mandarin Chinese spoken. All patrons spoke Chinese. Served hot & cold water initially. . Offerings (Chinese): Chinese American food, Chef's special, Szechwan Hunan Taste, iron skillet, appetizers, vegetables, dry pot & hot pot soup, mu shu, noodles & rice, rice noodles, handmade dumplings, soup, desserts... Bites: Cumin lamb (22.95) medium spicy -came in 10ish minutes. Dish looked plentiful. Found out later 50%+ were wok fried chili pieces. -tender, small to medium pieces lamb tossed friex with light batter/cumin. Deliz it was. Ate only 1/2z Told associate it was very good. Weather too hot, I didn't have an appetite. Dish wasn't "hot". Slurps: Cup Hot & Sour Soup (comped) -don't know why associate offered it to me. I accepted of course. -came hot off the wok with the usual tofu bits, scrambled egg drops, black fungus, green onions, black pepper & vinegar. No contrast of notes. Location is in a strip mall so lots of parking. Costumer service is above and beyond. They are so friendly here. The restaurant is clean and inviting. The menu was huge! We ordered so much food for our party of 8. Everything was fabulous. My favorites were: the salt pepper fish filet- the fish was so fresh and flakey and not greasy at all. Fantastic! The Szechuan chicken was to die for! This was everyone's favorite dish. It had the perfect amount of spice and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I also loved the American-Chinese options of orange chicken and general Cho's chicken. The kung pao shrimp was perfect as well! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and I loved the contrast to the crisp bell pepper. We also enjoyed the soup dumplings, fried rice, chow mein, orange tofu, a scallion pancakes, and dry fried green beans (which had a lovely ginger kick to them). Been a regular at Tasty Szechuan, especially for dinner, and it can definitely bring the heat and numbing spice, but also has a variety of dishes to enjoy even if spicy food isn't your thing. Located between a Little Caesar's Pizza and an international Mediterranean market, it can be easy to miss off Treat Blvd, but that would be a mistake. Tasty Szechuan does a pretty brisk takeout business but we really like eating in to enjoy the food at its freshest. We have always experienced friendly service here with our cups of cold water flavored with lemon and hot tea kept full. The seating arrangements can be a little tight with a mix of booths and tables, but they make it work. The decor feels more like the 80's but the place is clean and they have signs up about the various dishes they offer. PROs: - Spicy Szechuan dishes can really be spicy if you want it which is great - Mapo tofu had great flavor and kick - Sautéed bok choy with black mushrooms isn't spicy but cooked really well and consistently each time - Silken tofu with crab roe was a creamy surprise and terrific over rice - Beef tendon noodle soup included tender beef pieces, hearty broth and noodles with a good chew - Steamed soup dumplings which were flavorful and had a good dough - Various boiled dumplings Dishes that were less of a standout for our palate were the orange chicken (which is a favorite of some in our family but I found to be too sweet), the crab-fried rice where the crab didn't really stand out, and the wonton with chili oil (great chili oil but the wontons were not as flavorful as we expected). Very large portions for reasonable prices. They also have a *huge* and pretty unique menu (with some very authentic looking dishes!). The pork dumplings were a bit dry, but still pretty tasty. The beef chow fun was quite good and flavorful, though could have used more beef. The General Cho's Chicken was huge chicken chunks with a nice (not very spicy) sauce. Mom and I came here for lunch just by chance and we were blown away! The service was outstanding! Sylvona was fantastic, as was the young man working along side her but I didn't catch his name. The vibe was so easy breezy in there, mom and I just chatted away. The food was extremely tasty as well. We both had honey walnut prawns. It tasted amazing. We also had pot stickers. You could taste the freshness of the food. They boxed our food for us so neatly afterwards. The entire experience was 5 stars. The Walnut Prawns we ordered were brought out much too early. Better if they were timed closer to our other items. They forgot to bring us our cola.. To the young waitress. You are charming and attentive but perhaps look up what Sichuan peppers are and how they make for a numbing mouth sensation. We had to fact check you. There are two Choose Your Own Gender bathrooms. The one I used was clean but I had to wrestle with the towel dispenser. It is unclear if it is supposed to be motion activated or not. Some noisy man from Oakland seemed to have stopped by just for a glass of water and to chat up the charming waitress. Seemed to go on for about 30 minutes. I would ask my employees to discourage that. The food was satisfying. Nothing overly impressive but it was a solid Good. I felt the price was fare. The place looks clean and organized. Came here for lunch with a few coworkers and had a great experience. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Since we were on a timed lunch break, we preordered our meals ahead of time, and within minutes of arriving, everything was served fresh and ready for us. Spicy I can handle, but they were so accommodating on the spice level for my coworkers who cannot eat spicy. We definitely underestimated how much food we ordered because we ended up taking quite a bit to go. This is also a great spot for vegetarian options, since most of what our group ordered was vegetarian and everyone enjoyed their meals. A solid Szechuan experience with that characteristic mouth numbing spice. The decor inside is super cute including the stuffed pandas that greet you and it's quite spacious so I don't expect too much of a wait even on a weekend at dinner. We came here for the first time tonight. The staff was very friendly, the food was high quality and cooked fresh, and everyone in our party left agreeing this will be a regular spot. The staff was friendly and checked on me several times. The staff also asked if I needed an extra bowl to eat with. I ordered the boiled fish fillet which was very good. It was not too spicy for me since I can eat very spicy. I wish the spare ribs with cumin could be more salty. It was crispy and only missing the salt flavor. A bowl of Rice cost $1.50. Moving to the bay, I'm so happy to find a good Szechuan place nearby! The food was really good! The eggplant was full of flavor! The Mala Xiang guo was pretty good as well, for the buck it's definitely worth ordering! For around $20, you can order up to 3 meats and 3 veggies! The pig ear salad was one of our favorite dishes here! Definitely worth coming back! However, I noticed that the restaurant was a bit dirty. There were pieces of food on the ground. My review of Tasty Szechuan is long overdue. We have enjoyed dinner here several times over the past 10 months. Very tasty food. Friendly people. Decent location that is close to our home. While we like to try new things, DH and I will probably never order something like Gluttonous Bullfrogs. Too much for our Western tastes. But on our first visit I was adventurous enough to order the Special XinJiang Style Chicken with Noodles even though I had no clear idea what it was. Surely I would like chicken and noodles. First of all it was a huge portion and served in a casserole-style dish. Guess that why it is also known as Big Plate. In addition to noodles, it had potatoes which I don't associate with Chinese cooking. The chicken was unboned and essentially hacked into small pieces. Flavorful but a little hard to eat. Plenty to take home. I later read more about this dish and learned it was originally served to truck drivers on the highways of XinJiang. While I would probably never order it again, I'm glad I tried it. As a pre-entree, we've enjoyed both the Pan-fried Pot Stickers and Hot and Sour Soup. IMO the soup is some of the best in the Concord area. The first couple of visits, we avoided the Chinese American section of the menu, but admit on recent visits we have ordered a few of our favorites from that part of the menu. A new dish on our last visit was Dancing Shrimp. DH saw it online, but did not see it on the menu when we sat down. Then I looked up and saw a small poster advertising four new dishes including Dancing Shrimp. Twelve good-sized shrimp were topped with minced garlic and served on a bed of glass noodles. Try it! We are glad we did. Tasty Szechuan seems to have a very thriving takeout business, although we prefer to dine in. Plenty of booths and tables. Soothing colors and nice dishware. A small dish of Spanish peanuts and hot tea always arrive at the table shortly after we are seated. Forks are almost always offered, but we prefer chopsticks even it we struggle with some foods. I am still waiting for Tasty to have a liquor license. While hot tea is fine, sometimes I like a beer with spicy food. If you have a friend whose idea of Chinese food is Panda Express, don't bring them to Tasty Szechuan. Or maybe you should bring them ... and introduce them to some of the best Chinese food in Concord! read more

Some of the items aren't too bad, the salt and pepper shrimp had so much breading they were inedible before taking all of the breading off. But the food is not the reason for one star. They consistently overpromise and under deliver on the time quoted for the food to be ready. 25 minute wait time online... add at least 20 minutes and your order MIGHT be ready. There's too many other places in town that have good food that don't jack you around on the time it takes to prepare it. I gave them a second chance tonight and that's it for me. The first time we ordered from here was about a year ago and the cold noodles and cucumber salad were on point! We loved it so much we kept ordering those 2 things but over the last few orders, the quality has declined. The noodles were super spicy despite we asked for very mild spice and the cucumber was kinda mushy and wilted, the peanuts were no longer crispy.
