We were staying at the hotel so we dined here for both dinner and breakfast the following morning. Waiters were both nice and attentive, but both assured us that they didn't need to write down our orders, as a party of 4. Both times, food came out incorrectly, and we needed to send it back, to get what we originally ordered. Had to wait extra 15 minutes to get what we ordered in the first place. Manager was apologetic and offered to take the meal off the bill, and the food was good, but we still wasted time waiting for our food. Food is good also, good chowder, and they serve a slighty different style crab cake, which was very tasty (but tiny)! Marriott Gold & Platinum Elite members get free continental breakfast. We upgraded for $7 per person to include full buffet. Definitely worth it. Omelets made to order, and were tasty. Also can make your own smoked (or grilled) salmon sandwiches/bagels. Plenty of toppings for your self-serve oatmeal. Service was quick and easy but not necessary for buffet. Good location at Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Overall, good breakfast buffet, good price being a Marriott Elite member. Would recommend if staying in hotel or passing by. read more

Loved this place! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Marriott this past Saturday night and ate dinner and Sunday breakfast at the restaurant. Usually hotel restaurants are overpriced and under-quality, but Hook & Plow really blew us both away. For dinner we shared a shrimp cocktail appetizer, I had the halibut, and boyfriend ordered the rosemary chicken. Everything was great! The halibut was cooked perfectly--just lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and seated in olive oil. It came with a choice of sauces; I had the lemon butter sauce, which was delicious. The accompanying arugula salad was good, too. The chicken was flavorful (although the boar bacon was a little fatty). Boyfriend ordered grilled asparagus to accompany his chicken, which was good but just an FYI, it comes on a bed of hollandaise sauce (not good for lactose intolerant boyfriend). Our server was nice and took it back to the kitchen for a new plate sans sauce. We then split the chocolate cake for dessert, which was tasty and rich (although the berries that came with it were definitely not macerated, like the menu said). My halibut was only $26, which is so reasonable for delicious seafood. I looked at the menus of some other restaurants there on the waterfront, and their fish dishes all started around $35. It was a reasonable price for really good food. Breakfast the following morning didn't disappoint either. At first, we thought the prices were a little steep but realized that a $17 breakfast included coffee, juice, toast, and your main food item. Again, a reasonable price for tasty food (I had oatmeal with fresh berries and a bagel; boyfriend had eggs, bacon, and a bagel). Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good quality and good-priced meal in downtown Seattle. Don't be off put by the fact that it's a restaurant hotel! read more

Ok so I called to make a reservation a few days before I wanted to come because it's my moms birthday. I even asked for a seat by the water with a view. We drive all the way down there sitting in traffic for at least 30 mins, parked 5 blocks away because it costs $18 to park at the Marriott and find out the restaurant is CLOSED. No one called me to tell me that, even though they asked for a call back number. I was SO pissed. I asked for a manager and he gave us free drinks and appetizers and sat us in the lobby of the hotel because the bar was open so they could make food. Overall I'm pretty disappointed in Marriott for lacking to contact me that's pretty bad. The manager was very nice but the food was not great and definitely not worth the price. I work for Microsoft and we get a prime discount there so the second entree is free, otherwise I wouldn't go back. $28 for a piece of salmon the half the size of my hand is not worth it. read more

My company has been booking blocks of rooms at the Marriott for over 400 employees every year for several years now. Against my better judgment, I ordered room service which is provided by the Hook and Plow. In years past, I have deemed their service to be slow although friendly, their food to be lousy, and the prices to be inflated. Tonight's service was consistent with my previous experiences. My husband's burger, which he ordered medium, came raw. A second attempt at serving the burger resulted in one that was well well done. I ordered lemonade and was served pure, undiluted and unsweetened lime juice. I unknowingly took a giant swig which made me instantly nauseous. I was told that they used lime due to running out of lemonade and that another would be sent up with the burger. I never got the second juice. Finally, I ordered clam chowder for my meal. It arrived ice cold. When I called to inform room service, I was told a microwave could be sent to my room. Needless to say, no food was eaten, and the "meal" was comped. I have learned my lesson. read more

On the plus side they were able to accommodate a party of 14 on moment's notice for brunch...however, they somehow managed to make a Beecher's cheese sandwich so ho-hum I only ate half...I'm not sure how that's even possible. I guess if I were stuck on the waterfront again with 14 hungry people to feed I would go here again, otherwise I will pass. read more

We got the charcuterie board and when we received it, it was just some hard cold bread, Dijon mustard that tasted like crap, a few olives from Safeway, and some tiny pieces of salami and pepperoni. Overall we had a good experience, but I won't be going back. Nice outdoor seating and we can bring the dog which is major points, they even brought him water, super sweet. But I can't forgive the mediocre hotel food for the prices they charge. And the prices on drinks! My well pour gin and tonic was $8 and my husbands southern comfort on the rocks was $10!! Generally a well mixed cocktail will cost $10, not a few ounces of liquor on the rocks. The food was just okay, my crab cakes were room temp and full of filler. We were talking about how convenient it was (we live close by) And how we'd come back for some quick eats like the burger, until that is we got the bill. Not worth $100 at all. We had just had dinner at Quinn's pub last week and left paying the same price (drinks were less expensive) for AMAZING food and service. If you're gonna charge these prices, you better up your game. Waited for 1 hour and thirty minutes for our meal and our starters arrived after an hour of waiting. After about 44 minutes the waitress brought us a small plate of bread to share for six people. Never got any sort of apology for the terrible wait- I was celebrating my graduation. The place was practically empty so the wait was inexcusable in my opinion. While our family enjoyed the waterfront atmosphere here, and there is a kids; menu available, we found Hook & Plow to be somewhat overpriced, and not a great family place. The food was good, but not commensurate with the price; for example, the mixture of soft textures in the chop salad - garbanzo beans, soft salmon, and parmesan with dressing - could have been improved with some variety. Omg. I rarely write reviews but the service was so bad I had to. We stopped in for dessert and coffee on a whim since it was a sunny day and they have a nice outdoor patio. We were promptly seated in a nice spot and mentioned we were only there for dessert and coffee so the hostess brought us a dessert menu. After ordering we waited about 20 minutes for our desserts to arrive and the server (who wasn't our waitress) didn't bring the coffee. When we told her we ordered coffee instead of brining us some she said she would tell our server. Another 10 minutes later our coffee arrives. We later asked for our bill and when it shows up the total was a little over $30 for a bowl of ice creme with some fruit on top ($8) a key lime cheesecake ($8) and 2 cups of coffee ($6 each). Absolutely disgusting food. Was staying at the Marriot for a night and need a quick bite. I ordered crab cakes and Brussels sprouts. I get it, they're fried, which means that they'll be greasy but delicious, right? WRONG. It all tasted like greasy salt balls. The crab cakes were served atop this disgusting pickle smear and a slaw that had crumbled almonds on it! On the other hand, the Crete brûlée was good. Oatmeal, eggs, Belgian waffles, and a $30 breakfast buffet my inspire and deter different kinds of people. If intrigued by the menu, make sure you make time for this restaurant. Opting for an early breakfast, my friends and I were slightly surprised by the rather slow service. We quickly forgot about timing when we were presented with our orders of French toast, eggs Benedict, steel cut oatmeal, and fresh fruits. Speaking on behalf of the French toast, it was so much more than I bargained for. The thick pieces of bread topped with whipped cream and fresh picked raspberries filled my stomach. I hate to leave unfinished food on the table but the serving size was SO big! I ordered a side of scrambled eggs in which our kind waiter told us they were farm-to-table -- needless to say, they were delicious. Prior to visiting Seattle I assumed all hotel coffees tasted the same, but even this Marriott connected establishment had coffee with a signature Seattle taste. Rarely have I had such a love/hate experience with a restaurant. The actual food was mostly wonderful. The meat and cheese platter were delicious and varied. The pork sliders were fine, but the grilled romaine spear salad was bland. The service was incredibly slow and our sever didn't know anything about the dishes when we asked questions. The staff were great at accommodating our needs and going above and beyond what was expected. Will definitely go again the next time in in town. We had breakfast there this morning and I have to say it was exceptional! The manager sat us and brought coffee. Be introduced us to Jackson who was our waiter. We found Jackson to be personable and check back just enough to see if we needed anything else. I had a waffle and bacon, my mom had the all American breakfast and we were each pleased with our order. Crispy bacon was on the menu but I wanted not crispy bacon. Didn't have reservations anywhere and so just decided to give this place a chance even with the 2 1/2 star rating. We were pleasantly surprised. We sat outside and it was really nice. Great view of the water, occasional trains going by and good people watching. My margarita was yummy, fish sandwich good, my husbands and daughter-in-laws burger good , my sons flatbread very good. Chocolate and fruit cobbler desserts were wiped out. Had our young grandsons with us and they had a ball. It was a fun evening and our waiter joined right in. My kids and I came for a quick weekend and stopped in for dinner. I was nervous because #1, it didn't even pull up in Yelp for a nearby place and #2, it was nearly empty at 6 pm. Granted its a Tues evening, and I realize that's the earlier side of dinner hour in the city. Service was very good, not exceptional, but quite responsive and friendly. I ordered the fish tacos and while they tasted great, I wish they came with either black beans or rice or something like that, other than tortilla chips. FOOD POISONING I don't tend to write reviews, but I am so furious and disgusted with this restaurant and their lack of customer service that I had to. I ordered the mussels with white wine sauce (I figured it's supposed to be so fresh) and not only was it mediocre tasting, it was barely lukewarm when I got it, the accompanying bread was burned BLACK. If that wasn't bad enough, later that night I GOT THE WORST CASE OF FOOD POISONING I have ever experienced. I was up all night and even missed a day of work. When I called to complain, the girl didn't offer to get a manager, or even refund my poisonous meal. She just said she'd tell the kitchen. Are you kidding me? I expect a lot more from the Marriot. Great place for breakfast in a beautiful hotel. I ordered the corned beef hash and it doesn't look like the traditional crisped mush (which I am actually partial to). Their version is recognizable parts and very tasty. Hollandaise sauce was excellent. I can feel my cholesterol count rising but it was worth it. Can't wait to try the rolled pancakes and berries tomorrow...the crab eggs benedict sounds wonderful as well. Very good service and like Rachael F. Terrific steak-and-eggs breakfast: Highest quality meat I've ever tasted on a breakfast plate. And the breakfast potatoes are extremely flavorful. I learned that these potatoes are small 'reds' that are boiled only until they are half-way to complete. They then plunge the half-cooked potatoes into an ice-water bath for more than an hour, before a light frying in two kinds of onions and some other spices to finish them. You have never tasted such excellent breakfast potatoes. The rye bread on the plate was also of unusually high quality. I'll stay at the Waterfront Marriott again just to have this breakfast the next time I am in Seattle. read more

We've had breakfast and dinner here and each time we were so happy with the service and the food. The restaurant wasn't really full so we were able to be seated quickly. They gave us a table with a great view. Our waiter Chris was amazing and recommended the salmon and I couldn't have been happier and my water glass was never empty. My husband & stopped in for HH one night on our way to an appointment nearby. We sat at a table in the bar area and a server quickly came over to ask what we'd like to drink. I ordered a glass of the (quite nice) HH red. There is a $5 margarita on the HH menu. My husband asked if they have a strawberry version. I don't think this is something they usually serve up. But, our server, who it turns out was also the bartender, thought about this for a second and said that he'd be able to do that. From where we were seated, I could see him mixing up my husband's drink. He poured it into a glass that it did not quite fill. I thought he'd just throw in some more ice to raise the glass' content level a bit. But, to my surprise, he threw in a splash more tequila. I thought for certain that, since he was deviating from the HH offering, this was going to cost more than the HH price. Again, to my surprise, when we got our check, saw that we'd been charged only $5 for my husband's drink. Very, very cool. We also enjoyed a couple of HH appetizers: Chicken fingers with a buttermilk dip and baguette slices with a spinach dip. Both were full size servings, not abbreviated HH servings that some places offer. The chicken was hot and crisp, but not greasy. The spinach dip was not nearly as heavy as some others I've tried. The bread was fresh and yummy. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We left satiated and happy and would definitely stop in again. read more
