This restaurant is seriously under rated because it is in fact attached to a hotel and has a serious lack of visibility as a standalone restaurant - but trust me... It's really friggin good! While staying at the Marriott, we had breakfast included with our room package. The breakfast was at their restaurant Hook & Plow. They had a nice selection of full breakfast menu items, but we both opted for the buffet. The buffet offered many delicious items to choose from. At least four different meat options, several made to order Omelette ideas as well as waffles and pancakes. There was also homemade granola which pared nicely with some vanilla yogurt. All in all it was a nice meal. read more

Hook and Plow is located inside of the Marriott on the Seattle waterfront. The location has a nice outdoor patio and decent sized inside lounge area. The food is your basic comfort foods with the addition of local connections (such as Beechers cheese). The prices are high; however, you have to remember that this is not only in a high tourist area but is also a part of the hotel. I have never found low prices when you have these two factors combined. The service from Elizabeth was fantastic. Despite the location being very busy due to a private event, Elizabeth remained positive, smiling and energetic all evening. Although other staff members were all polite and helpful, the service from Elizabeth is what earns the 5 stars, although it appears she was only a server, she clearly was the person running the show and making sure guests were being interacted with and taken care of. The appetizers served were fresh tasting and full of flavors. The chicken tornadoe appetizers were delicious. The pita bread and hummus was fresh and full of flavor. The only thing I would recommend staying away from are the french fries. The fries served are the "Steak fry" version and after sitting even for a very short amount of time became soggy with no crisp to them at all. read more

Such a fantastic place! Have a seat at the bar and prepare to wine and dine! The miso cod is light, creamy, and savory. The noddles add a great fun crunch to every bite! The wine selections are perfect and the ambiance is perfect as well. The service though....deserves 6 stars!!!! We tried Hook & Plow for an early dinner and sat outside because it was sunny. The outside atmosphere is nice. When seated you can't see Elliot Bay, but you feel like you're near the water. The service was slow and awkward. Several people waited on us, which works good sometimes, but it wasn't working here. The food was just average. I walked into Hook & Plow; the furniture and the aesthetics were fairly high end. I liked that. So I sat down at the bar and ordered some kale pasta. The food was beautiful and the pumpkin seeds added value two fold. The first side was the crunchiness the seeds gave to an otherwise mushed pasta. The second was the flavor that complimented the green sauce so wonderfully presented. The dish is worthy of getting again to be sure. Unfortunately the waiter gave very poor reception. On one occasion, Tommy chose to help the smiling girl at the end of the bar even though he saw me as I was trying to flag him down. Males deserve good service too. Furthermore, he just decided to steal my receipt so I had to flag down another man and get the other man to print a receipt. What a joke. Ruined my experience. Relish to the rescue! What started off looking like a very bad start to our day, turned into a fantastic breakfast in the sunroom at Relish restaurant at the Westin! We were unable to get a room reservation at the Westin Hotel in Seattle for our annual end of school year trip with our granddaughter. The location and the pool at the Westin are much loved by her. Instead, we ended up at the Marriott Seattle Waterfront. When we checked in, the person who took care of us at reception gave us coupons for breakfast in the Marriott's Hook and Plow restaurant. When we went to the Hook and Plow, we were offered very small high top in the bar - with 10 year old granddaughter. No thanks!! Half the tables in the restaurant were empty, but "reserved." No thanks!! Besides, we had already experienced the perfectly mediocre food and service at this restaurant the day before. I simply don't understand why an experienced employee would offer breakfast coupons, without stating that a reservation would be required. And we are paying $650 for our room! Grabbed a Lyft to Westin/Relish where we were taken care of by Natalja. Natalja is simply the most thoughtful, attentive, caring server on Earth! The breakfast buffet was fresh, healthy , and beautiful. Natalja suggested the buffet, and then took the trouble to make sure that we had a great experience. She even offered to have the chef cook fresh eggs, if scrambled was not our preference. So, I was served a pair of hot, perfectly prepared eggs. She also took an active interest in our granddaughter and her needs. Hook & Plow is a restaurant in the first level of the waterfront Marriott in Seattle. My wife, daughter, and I went for breakfast. We had the deluxe buffet and it was truly excellent. It is normally $29 per person, but we had coupons from Marriott that we redeemed. The buffet included excellent omelets made to order, with great ingredient choices. Many fine cheeses, diverse proteins (including fresh salmon), and fresh vegetables were available. The buffet also had high quality salmon, thick cut bacon, top quality sausage links, chicken sausage dumplings, and charcuterie available. I went heavy on the protein, ordering the salmon omelet with fresh jalapeños and gouda. The fresh fruit options were also delicious. I made a bowl of currants, blackberries, raspberries, pineapple, melons, and strawberry. All the fruit was fresh and delicious. Last, service was excellent and responsive. We ate our breakfast while enjoying a view of the water. The Hook & Plow is a great place to start the day. If we are staying at this hotel again, we will definitely return. read more

Marriott's consierge wasn't able to find a restaurant that could accommodate a Saturday night party of nine within a half hour or so. We decided to just go to the hotel restaurant and sit outside. Fortunately a party of 10 didn't show up so they had the table already set up for us. The patio was about half full when we arrived shortly after 7pm. Our drinks arrived pretty timely but the Dr. Pepper and Coke/Pepsi got switched. No big deal. We ordered a variety of appetizers. An hour later, a couple who was there before us asked to cancel their order and just pay for appetizers since they had waited so long. Long story short... we finally got food nearly an hour and a half later. Apparently, there is a "side" mac and cheese as well as a "child" mac and cheese. They got those mixed up. My clam chowder was more of a bacon/ham chowder than anything else and it was luke warm. The crab cakes were unimpressive. I think we waiting about another half hour to get the bill. In retrospec, we would have been better off taking a cab across the city. It would have been faster. My husband and I were sorely disappointed with our meal here tonight. We should have seen it as a sign when we walked in the door and only a few diners were there in a rather large restaurant. Unfortunately the whole experience was a mess. The prices were a high so we opted for sandwiches. I got the chicken sandwich and my husband the fried fish sandwich. My chicken was tiny and had no seasoning. Then just a tomato and lettuce plopped down on a cold bun. The side salad was just as sad. The lettuce was wilted and the dressing unsavory. The fish was no better. The was no seasoning so my husband compensated with tons of tartar. Sauce. How sad to ruin such a great piece of fish! The meal took a very long to arrive. Funny being that there was only about 8 people in the restaurant. The girl serving was nice enough but was very rehearsed in what she said. As we were leaving the manager asked us how our meal was....we were frank and told him (nicely) how we felt. He offered us a free breakfast/lunch but we declined -- we didn't want to come back! I was here for a work function, and decided to stop in at the Hook & Plow for a pre-meeting.... meeting. I ordered a redbull and vodka and was told the manager would have to procure the red bull from some special vault, or fridge found else where and not nearby. In the interest of not being late to said meeting, I opted for vodka cran instead. The drink was ok, the cranberry tasted watered down which in turn made the whole drink a little weak for my taste. Service was very nice but the food was awful, and when I say awful I mean all of it. The heirloom tomato salad had a regular tomato, no heirlooms to be found. We stayed at the hotel and had planned to go somewhere else for dinner but the rain and wind were too much so we stayed on the property. We had very low expectations but were pleasantly surprised. I started with the Clam Chowder -- very good with large chunks of clams and some chunks of ham/bacon that gave it some extra smokiness. This was accompanied by an almost perfect Bloody Mary. Then came an order of Fried Clams -- I think they were the best I've ever had! They could get to 5 stars but need to try a little harder in the service department. We asked for bread immediately and it took them about 15 minutes for them to bring it to us. When they delivered the chowder there were no oyster crackers, so I asked our server for some. After about 5 minutes, she brought back a small single bag -- disappointing. Also -- the Bloody Mary: the drink was mixed perfectly...very delicious...but no garnish. I've come to expect a celery stalk, an asparagus spear, a pickle...or better yet a combination. Heck, you are known for seafood -- how about a shrimp? Won't stop me from going back for the clams but probably won't order the Bloody Mary again. read more

Nice outside seating. We stopped in here for a quick drink on a nice sunny Sunday, and after walking up to the bar and ordering we took our drinks outside to enjoy the sun. The view of the Sound is only slightly interrupted by the Alaskan Way but is still very enjoyable. read more
