Happy Birthday Alexis!!! It was fun to celebrate you, at Bar Miriam ( @barmiriam.seattle ), the other night! Sharing those tiny plates and experiencing such flavors, was grand! From the Stuffed Peppers, with Goat Cheese, to the Lobster Roll, to the lone Slider (because too many people ordered ahead of us ~ dang it!), accompanied by our Berry Cobblers, with Goat Cheese and warm S'mores Ice Cream Sando, it was such a lovely night! Hope you go give them a twirl, at the top of Queen Anne Hill! Cheers! xx #BarMiriam #QueenAnne #SeattleWA #Americana #celebrations #foreverfriends #supportlocal #supportsmallbusinesses Instagram:: @NelzLovesIt

Drinks - 3/5 Roasted carrots - 5/5 in winter , 2/5 in summer. They need to make changes to their menu based on the season. Vibes - 5/5 Service - 4/5 They had empty tables but seated us in a corner. The seating is a bit weird at this place but it's a part of the charm. But I would not want to be seated at one end of the room infron of their kitchen.

We popped into Bar Miriam on a whim before our dinner... solid vibe and ambience. Thanks to our awesome server, she rearranged multiple people to fit our group of 6 at the hi top table! We only had 1 drink so I need another visit to fully take it in. Most of the cocktails are pretty obscure - I know my way around mixology and didn't know half the ingredients! Most of the drinks were solid - mine wasn't quite my jam but was going out on a limb. I'll be back to try again with some bites!

Bar Miriam and Bakers have some of the best cocktail programs in Seattle. Always top picks when wanted a unique and fabulous cocktail. Service is great as well and love the neighborhood vibes.

I love having this spot in the neighborhood! It has a super cozy vibe and also a gorgeous interior, in general. I brought my mom in one evening after dinner and we just had a cheese plate and a couple of drinks but everything was delicious! I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu next time! It does get pretty packed but there was still bar seating available. Finally, our bartender was a gem and super attentive even though she was obviously very busy. I'll definitely be back :)

Leisurely weekend up from Portland with Wife N visiting a few friends. Six of us met at Bar Miriam, Saturday evening, 5:00pm. Not too busy at that time, all of us got a straight row of tables together, place was about half full. Drinks: Wife N ordered the "Blue, Myself" and then a "Sword of Destiny". I ordered a "Frightened Inmate #2". Around the table were a variety of other concoctions. We all took mini sips of each others' and agreed that wowzers, the drinks are very on-point here. Stellar mixology. Inventive. Complex. NOTHING was off--every one of these drinks nailed it in every way. On to the food. She ordered the lobster roll, because...they have one so it must be ordered. Wow, umm...they put like almost an entire lobster in that roll. $27, in retrospect, was not high--that roll brought it and was a solid whole meal in itself. Lightly seasoned with a mayo base and lemon--not much adulterating the flavor, they really just let the lobster shine here. I had the Chilean Sea Bass Crudo.. This was very different from the more Peruvian (leche de tigre, cltrusy) preparations I've typically had. This one was more Mediterranean-style, with an ajoblanco (white creamy/oliv-y/almond-y soup) tart thin-sliced strawberries and micro greens. Absolutely fantastico! Nipped a couple nibbles from around the table...that corn spaetzle is really nice, smoky and sweet. Wife finished it off with their funnel cake dessert. Semi-crispy funnel cake with sliced fresh strawberries and a mezcal-lime infused honey. Nom nom. Fabulous in every way. Absolutely keeping Bar Miriam on our "must return" list.

Loved everything about this place- warm vibe, friendly staff, fab drinks, yummy food. Place is small and fills up even on a Monday night, but we lucked out with a table after just a short wait. Small booth with a round table is the perfect size for two- not really a place for a big crowd. Creative cocktail list. Loved the perfectly balanced Calmer Than You Are. Plates are good for sharing. Everything we tried was delish- charred escabeche wiht sourdough bread, persimmon tartine with a nice smear of triple cream brie, kushi oysters with sambal cocktail sauce, and a lobster roll. Highly recommend and would return.

Bar Miriam is a lovely gastropub in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood. It is right by 3rd and W McGraw by the corner hardware store. I used to live in the neighborhood three blocks away in the mid 1990s, so it has gone through a few iterations. But I like the aestethic once I stepped in, quite the transformation from the former cafe. Inviting banquette booth like seating or grab at seat at the S shaped bar counter. Their menu has a nice variety of nibbles (labeled To Start, Garden, Sea, Pasture, and Sweet) for yourself, but ample definitely to share. There are selected aperitifs, mocktails, cocktails, beer, wine, and of course a full bar. The bartender was very friendly and helped me out when I couldn't decide between two menu items. I ended up with the Kentucky Fried Soft Shell Crab sliders ($22)...amazing flavors and texture. Nicely crispy with curry mayo, cilantro, pickled cucumber on a charcoal house roll. Essentially just about everything on the menu held some interest, but checking out Bar Miriam solo definitely I had eyes bigger than my stomach! I selected the Talent Scout (old school circa 1951, $14) as my cocktail. This had Buffalo Trace bourbon, Pierre Ferrant dry curacao, and angostura bitters with a carefully chosen large ice cube. Nice to sip, smooth and strong! My phone was about to croak during my initial visit on Twosday 2/22/22, amended this post on 3/4/22. I remember wanting to try the doughnut holes. The description of Mexican spiced dipping coffee, banana, and toasted cashew sounded intriguing. I definitely need to cultivate a cocktail crew to pare down my ever growing list of cocktail spots to hit in Seattle. I definitely was glad to check out Bar Miriam sooner than later. I look forward to returning and working my way down the menu hopefully with others. Also, the wine shop that is immediately next door will be overseen by the Bar Miriam folks. I was told this will have an early March opening. I'm a long time McCarthy and Schiering wine shop enthusiast (Ravenna and Queen Anne), so I look forward to checking this out too.

It's a pricey place but it's also a good cocktail bar in a neighborhood that needs bars like the Mariners need offense (desperately). The food is so-so in my mind but the ambiance is cool and the staff is really friendly.

There were so many twists and turns to get to this unassuming neighborhood gastropub, that you begin to question what you are even doing here. But then you notice the little things; the bottle of Chinese rocket fuel they have on the shelf, the chaotic wall art that oddly matches the background music/noise(?) coming through the speakers. Menus are carved into wooden blocks at the bar. It's a very chill vibe. I asked for an old fashioned; he didn't ask me for specifics or what type of bourbon I preferred. I thought about it and then got distracted by emails. My old fashioned arrived and my eyes popped. Easily one of THE best old fashioneds I'd ever had. Sweet, smooth, delicious. 1. Stone fruit & tomatoes: so good. Soooooo good. I could and would happily drive back through all those twists and turns for another hit of this delightful salad. That addictive yellow dressing- first instinct is curry bc of the rich yellow, but it's not. I checked the menu. Charred corn buttermilk- what?? Amazing 2. Tandoori eggplant: I love a good charred eggplant, but this was nothing compared to the first dish bc it was still blowing my mind. 3. Street corn spaetzel: had to get it bc Jen raved Really interesting and fun textures and flavors 3. Lobster roll: again bc of Jen Generous amount of succulent lobster, well seasoned with light touches of pickles on perfectly soft toasted buttery bread. 5. Steak au poivre: juicy, perfectly cooked flat iron. I respect the fact they didn't ask how we would like it cooked anything beyond medium rare is a crime. The breaded and fried onions were a delightful surprise. Cherry tomatoes added the perfect note to this dish We were too full for dessert, but I will definitely be back. This is such a charming little neighborhood spot, turning out very innovative and delicious creations. If the right people find them, it won't be long before they end up on the James Beard list.

We went to Bar Miriam for a drink and a quick bite on my wife's birthday - and left very impressed. I had an old fashioned with the house bourbon (buffalo trace). It was solid. We ordered the lobster roll, gnocchi and paella. All were delicious - the roll was fresh and flavorful and the paella was amongst the best I've had in Seattle. The gnocchi was fine but the other two were exceptional. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the service was quick. It's a small place and doesn't take reservations - so go early.

The place is decorated in a fairly elegant and old school manner, so you are somewhat transported away from the outside reality. We got the Tobe's Thique Mint and Garden Party. I loved the creaminess and cinnamon afternotes of Tobe's Thique Mint, and it also looks somewhat pretty. It is quite a heavy drink, so one was enough to fill me up. The Garden Party was a bit of a miss since as much as I tasted the orange and grapefruit, it was a very light drink and tasted a little watered down. The biggest plus is that the drinks are fairly affordable compared to the greater Seattle area, priced at $14. I liked how their menu says 14 for $14, as they have just 14 cocktails to choose from and the drinks seem to rotate seasonally. For us, we went just in time to still have the spring menu, but they will change to the summer menu on June 20.

We ordered munchies and drinks while we waited for our table at Delancey. The bartender / server knew we would be headed to Delancey in 40 minutes or so, and handled things well accordingly. We got a plate of olives (tasty, great finger food) and drinks. The Yonder cider was good, not too sweet. The Martini was tasty. I had two quibbles: The first was with the pricing: the martini was charged as two separate items: 1) gin (I suppose the charge varies by the kind of gin or vodka in your martini) 2) martini (which is apparently the non-vodka or or non-gin part of your drink) While I'm sure this makes it easier to track for the bartender and inventory, as well as for charging, as a customer, it's a little odd to have a mixed drink be a two-part charge. The second was the included 20% automatic gratuity. I don't object to the concept of a standard service charge, I just wish it had been more prominently displayed so that I wouldn't have added a 20% tip on top of that (and my tip was on the amount that included tax, service charge and drinks / food). So, buyer beware ... the service is good, the ambiance is nice, the food and drinks are good -- but the payment / billing is non-standard, and can cause unexpected surprises.

Our server said they "ran out". How does that happen? I stalked a departing table to take their rechargeable lamp. Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management. Inspired by two British drinking terms, Brimmer & Heeltap seeks to celebrate the moments that exist between the first sip of one's libation and the last drops lingering at the bottom of the glass. Since late 2013 we've delighted in creating an environment that is inviting, lively, and comforting. A sense of playfulness is present in everything we do, from the inventive dishes our culinary team prepares, to the friendly, genuine hospitality we provide. We're a bistro that takes pride in being a neighborhood place - the kind you can escape to at day's end for a delicious meal shared among friends." Ambiance: "Located in the former Le Gourmand space in beautiful Ballard, Brimmer & Heeltap offers an intimate, cozy atmosphere complete with an open kitchen, full bar, and multiple sections to drink and dine in. Our garden patio is one of the best-kept secrets in the city, offering a dreamy place to dine outdoors during Seattle's spring and summer months. We also have a tucked-away back studio that offers the perfect setting for special, private gatherings year-round. Just how many pennies does it take to cover a floor? Just ask Brimmer & Heeltap's proprietress Jen who collected tens of thousands of them from family, friends, and the community to help execute the vision of a cool gathering placed dubbed, naturally, the "Penny Room." This dining room, beloved for both its wall of menus and its shining penny floor, is a favorite place to break bread with loved ones, and plays into the restaurant's blend of nostalgic and contemporary design. The restaurant was designed in collaboration with Sean Sifagaloa of KRFTWRK and local builder Mike Marian, owner of Marian Built. Light, texture, metal, wood, and floral elements are all at play here. This historic building possesses a playful, familiar charm that we wanted to preserve in its latest incarnation." What I ordered: Wishing to sample a little of everything, we were served, family style, two orders of Bread ($9 each) - buttered with salt and pepper; Fritto Misto ($12) - assorted, lightly fried and pickled vegetables with tarragon aioli; Smashed Burrata ($19) - snap peas, preserved lemon, mint, basil, sherry reduction; Carrot & Tahini Dip ($16) - caramelized garlic, feta, pistachio, crudite; two orders of Heirloom Tomatoes ($21 each) - melon, chevre, crispy quino, soft herbs; Crispy Potatoes ($16) - whipped feta, hot honey, mint; Mushroom Agnolotti ($34) - roasted maitakes, chanterelles, whipped ricotta, miso butter, thyme; Roast Chicken ($42) - chickpea, berbere yogurt, marinated cucumber, mint gremolata. To finish off our meals, we shared the Olive Oil Cake ($14) - basil yogurt cremeux, strawberry gel, and the Chocolate Tiramisu ($16) - mascarpone, rum, amaretto, candied hazelnuts. What I loved: Oh man, every dish was delightful. I found something to savor and repeat in each of the dishes we were served. From the sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes, to the creamy burrata, from the crispy potatoes, to the fresh peas and everything in between. Our least favorite, at the table was the mushroom Angnolotti, inconsistent from bite to bite. The presentation of the Carrot & Tahini dip was a bit haphazard compared to the rest of the dishes served, but the flavor was still lovely. Why I loved it: The service was unparalleled, comfortable yet professional and quick to offer recommendations for our larger party. The decorations and quaint spaces truly welcoming, and the food, excellent. Cost: High ($40+ per person)
