Fried Halloumi

The food was overall pretty good. The cocktails were excellent. I think I'd probably do the charcuterie and cocktails again for sure. Some of the food just felt maybe a little over priced for portions or overwrought in some way (the lobster roll was more like lobster toast?). The service was very good and the vibes were quite good too. Very popular with a variety of people and also pretty crowded just about always.

Happy Birthday Alexis!!! It was fun to celebrate you, at Bar Miriam ( @barmiriam.seattle ), the other night! Sharing those tiny plates and experiencing such flavors, was grand! From the Stuffed Peppers, with Goat Cheese, to the Lobster Roll, to the lone Slider (because too many people ordered ahead of us ~ dang it!), accompanied by our Berry Cobblers, with Goat Cheese and warm S'mores Ice Cream Sando, it was such a lovely night! Hope you go give them a twirl, at the top of Queen Anne Hill! Cheers! xx #BarMiriam #QueenAnne #SeattleWA #Americana #celebrations #foreverfriends #supportlocal #supportsmallbusinesses Instagram:: @NelzLovesIt

We came here after seeing it highly rated, and very glad we did! The drinks were super fun & tasty, and the vibes inside were awesome. The only downside is it gets very busy quickly, so you'll likely need to wait a while to get a standing spot. They do have a wine bar next door you can go to in the meantime

Drinks - 3/5 Roasted carrots - 5/5 in winter , 2/5 in summer. They need to make changes to their menu based on the season. Vibes - 5/5 Service - 4/5 They had empty tables but seated us in a corner. The seating is a bit weird at this place but it's a part of the charm. But I would not want to be seated at one end of the room infron of their kitchen.

We popped into Bar Miriam on a whim before our dinner... solid vibe and ambience. Thanks to our awesome server, she rearranged multiple people to fit our group of 6 at the hi top table! We only had 1 drink so I need another visit to fully take it in. Most of the cocktails are pretty obscure - I know my way around mixology and didn't know half the ingredients! Most of the drinks were solid - mine wasn't quite my jam but was going out on a limb. I'll be back to try again with some bites!

Bar Miriam and Bakers have some of the best cocktail programs in Seattle. Always top picks when wanted a unique and fabulous cocktail. Service is great as well and love the neighborhood vibes.

Leisurely weekend up from Portland with Wife N visiting a few friends. Six of us met at Bar Miriam, Saturday evening, 5:00pm. Not too busy at that time, all of us got a straight row of tables together, place was about half full. Drinks: Wife N ordered the "Blue, Myself" and then a "Sword of Destiny". I ordered a "Frightened Inmate #2". Around the table were a variety of other concoctions. We all took mini sips of each others' and agreed that wowzers, the drinks are very on-point here. Stellar mixology. Inventive. Complex. NOTHING was off--every one of these drinks nailed it in every way. On to the food. She ordered the lobster roll, because...they have one so it must be ordered. Wow, umm...they put like almost an entire lobster in that roll. $27, in retrospect, was not high--that roll brought it and was a solid whole meal in itself. Lightly seasoned with a mayo base and lemon--not much adulterating the flavor, they really just let the lobster shine here. I had the Chilean Sea Bass Crudo.. This was very different from the more Peruvian (leche de tigre, cltrusy) preparations I've typically had. This one was more Mediterranean-style, with an ajoblanco (white creamy/oliv-y/almond-y soup) tart thin-sliced strawberries and micro greens. Absolutely fantastico! Nipped a couple nibbles from around the table...that corn spaetzle is really nice, smoky and sweet. Wife finished it off with their funnel cake dessert. Semi-crispy funnel cake with sliced fresh strawberries and a mezcal-lime infused honey. Nom nom. Fabulous in every way. Absolutely keeping Bar Miriam on our "must return" list.

I love having this spot in the neighborhood! It has a super cozy vibe and also a gorgeous interior, in general. I brought my mom in one evening after dinner and we just had a cheese plate and a couple of drinks but everything was delicious! I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu next time! It does get pretty packed but there was still bar seating available. Finally, our bartender was a gem and super attentive even though she was obviously very busy. I'll definitely be back :)

Loved everything about this place- warm vibe, friendly staff, fab drinks, yummy food. Place is small and fills up even on a Monday night, but we lucked out with a table after just a short wait. Small booth with a round table is the perfect size for two- not really a place for a big crowd. Creative cocktail list. Loved the perfectly balanced Calmer Than You Are. Plates are good for sharing. Everything we tried was delish- charred escabeche wiht sourdough bread, persimmon tartine with a nice smear of triple cream brie, kushi oysters with sambal cocktail sauce, and a lobster roll. Highly recommend and would return.

Bar Miriam is a lovely gastropub in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood. It is right by 3rd and W McGraw by the corner hardware store. I used to live in the neighborhood three blocks away in the mid 1990s, so it has gone through a few iterations. But I like the aestethic once I stepped in, quite the transformation from the former cafe. Inviting banquette booth like seating or grab at seat at the S shaped bar counter. Their menu has a nice variety of nibbles (labeled To Start, Garden, Sea, Pasture, and Sweet) for yourself, but ample definitely to share. There are selected aperitifs, mocktails, cocktails, beer, wine, and of course a full bar. The bartender was very friendly and helped me out when I couldn't decide between two menu items. I ended up with the Kentucky Fried Soft Shell Crab sliders ($22)...amazing flavors and texture. Nicely crispy with curry mayo, cilantro, pickled cucumber on a charcoal house roll. Essentially just about everything on the menu held some interest, but checking out Bar Miriam solo definitely I had eyes bigger than my stomach! I selected the Talent Scout (old school circa 1951, $14) as my cocktail. This had Buffalo Trace bourbon, Pierre Ferrant dry curacao, and angostura bitters with a carefully chosen large ice cube. Nice to sip, smooth and strong! My phone was about to croak during my initial visit on Twosday 2/22/22, amended this post on 3/4/22. I remember wanting to try the doughnut holes. The description of Mexican spiced dipping coffee, banana, and toasted cashew sounded intriguing. I definitely need to cultivate a cocktail crew to pare down my ever growing list of cocktail spots to hit in Seattle. I definitely was glad to check out Bar Miriam sooner than later. I look forward to returning and working my way down the menu hopefully with others. Also, the wine shop that is immediately next door will be overseen by the Bar Miriam folks. I was told this will have an early March opening. I'm a long time McCarthy and Schiering wine shop enthusiast (Ravenna and Queen Anne), so I look forward to checking this out too.

There were so many twists and turns to get to this unassuming neighborhood gastropub, that you begin to question what you are even doing here. But then you notice the little things; the bottle of Chinese rocket fuel they have on the shelf, the chaotic wall art that oddly matches the background music/noise(?) coming through the speakers. Menus are carved into wooden blocks at the bar. It's a very chill vibe. I asked for an old fashioned; he didn't ask me for specifics or what type of bourbon I preferred. I thought about it and then got distracted by emails. My old fashioned arrived and my eyes popped. Easily one of THE best old fashioneds I'd ever had. Sweet, smooth, delicious. 1. Stone fruit & tomatoes: so good. Soooooo good. I could and would happily drive back through all those twists and turns for another hit of this delightful salad. That addictive yellow dressing- first instinct is curry bc of the rich yellow, but it's not. I checked the menu. Charred corn buttermilk- what?? Amazing 2. Tandoori eggplant: I love a good charred eggplant, but this was nothing compared to the first dish bc it was still blowing my mind. 3. Street corn spaetzel: had to get it bc Jen raved Really interesting and fun textures and flavors 3. Lobster roll: again bc of Jen Generous amount of succulent lobster, well seasoned with light touches of pickles on perfectly soft toasted buttery bread. 5. Steak au poivre: juicy, perfectly cooked flat iron. I respect the fact they didn't ask how we would like it cooked anything beyond medium rare is a crime. The breaded and fried onions were a delightful surprise. Cherry tomatoes added the perfect note to this dish We were too full for dessert, but I will definitely be back. This is such a charming little neighborhood spot, turning out very innovative and delicious creations. If the right people find them, it won't be long before they end up on the James Beard list.

Stumbletown is a true carnivorous dream dining experience. Let's start with the menu it's simple. Your choice is duck or steak with an option for sauce. Why complicate things Yelpers, this place is "THE KISS" method so don't try and overthink things cause the chef doesn't . In case you're wondering I ordered the steak with Chimichurri sauce and this was layered over a mound of some of the best fries I've consumed in ages. Note they cook the flesh with a SOUS VIDE machine slow and low to make the meat tender and juicy. My guess are the fries had to be double fried in duck fat judging by the crunchiness and flavor... Yes for $25 I was served a steak mound of flesh over fries and loved every bite. Flavor bomb alert is the combo of steak , fries and Chimichurri smothered over the top IS AWESOME. Its a heavenly marriage of flavors for those seeking a sensual flavor experience... Note the homemade chimichurri sauce was a game changer as its expansion of the flavors is beyond anything imaginable. I only wish they sold by the bottle for home use it was that flavorful. Ok, by now you're savoring my photos and maybe licking your phone and I understand why , so just image how I felt actually eating. For beverages it's water ( free & self serve ) or a full bar of intoxicants you can walk up and order.... Keep in mind Stumbletown is a waiter free environment which is AWESOME ! I'm so full yet I am planning my out next flesh dining experience.. You'll wanna dine in this true hidden gem located in Ballard however selfishly I hope it stays hidden. We ordered munchies and drinks while we waited for our table at Delancey. The bartender / server knew we would be headed to Delancey in 40 minutes or so, and handled things well accordingly. We got a plate of olives (tasty, great finger food) and drinks. The Yonder cider was good, not too sweet. The Martini was tasty. I had two quibbles: The first was with the pricing: the martini was charged as two separate items: 1) gin (I suppose the charge varies by the kind of gin or vodka in your martini) 2) martini (which is apparently the non-vodka or or non-gin part of your drink) While I'm sure this makes it easier to track for the bartender and inventory, as well as for charging, as a customer, it's a little odd to have a mixed drink be a two-part charge. The second was the included 20% automatic gratuity. I don't object to the concept of a standard service charge, I just wish it had been more prominently displayed so that I wouldn't have added a 20% tip on top of that (and my tip was on the amount that included tax, service charge and drinks / food). So, buyer beware ... the service is good, the ambiance is nice, the food and drinks are good -- but the payment / billing is non-standard, and can cause unexpected surprises.

I am showing my age by saying the restaurant is VERY LOUD, and our table was in a very dark spot in the restaurant. Oddly, they didn't have enough table lamps for all the dark tables. Our server said they "ran out". How does that happen? I stalked a departing table to take their rechargeable lamp. Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. Go if you are looking for variety, skip the fish, bring ear plugs, and hope you have a brighter table than ours. Parking is street only. 3 Stars for the food, minus 1 star for the restaurant environment (unrelated to staff) The Food: k'tiss dip with crudités, $18 - 4 Stars We chose the marrow stone blue oyster mushroom option - p'set. The mushrooms are sautéed in Khmer seasonings, fermented bean curd, and coconut milk. The veggies are mildly pickled. They paired surprisingly well and a unique dish to try. kroeung kumeraage, $15 - 4 Stars This dish has an option of fried chicken or fried mushrooms. We chose the chicken since we already had mushrooms. Kroeung is the Khmer seasoning. Our server said this dish and papaya salad are amongst the most popular. Since we have a veggie dish, we chose this over the papaya salad (which looks great, too). The chicken is lightly fried, not crispy outside, super tender, and paired well with the kroeung aioli. trei chmouy tuk tei omperi, $40 - 1 Star The menu says serves 2 but not really. The is a pan seared fish, make your own fish wrap. We did not know we ordered a DIY dish, which is ok in principle, just not good to be surprised. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management. Seemed perfect - cocktails, easily accessible, with tasty looking drinks and snacks. When we arrived at 5:30p on a weekend evening , it wasn't that busy, particularly closer to the bar, so we sat at a table with no people close by. In contrast, there were two groups talking in conversationally norm tones closer the entrance and window. After about 20 Min, a server who didn't originally serve us (apparently the owner) told us it was "quiet reading time" and just repeated the phrase in an annoyed, condescending tone when we tried to ask for clarification regarding what that meant (she seemed to intentionally ignore us despite by friend trying to flag her down 4 times ) . We subsequently asked our original server if our modified whisper level was acceptable. She said "yes" And actually kindly asked us about our hobby. However, the purported owner returned 10 min later , targeting just us (not the people up front who were talking louder than us at this point) , saying we were not complying and needed to close our bill (our drinks were not half-finished at that point). We asked if there was anywhere she could recommend for an alternative to converse quietly, and she bluntly and aggressively stated, "Anywhere but here" to by friend's reasonable question. The onwr then charged me double the cost of my 14 dollar drink ($31) , making not effort to reimburse me and stating that it was my fault for not catching this?!? Huh?!? The owner then proceeded made several concerning, microaggressive, racially concerning statements that left myself and my fellow attendee shocked and sick to our stomachs. I was blown away. I actually recorded part of this on video, but won't post it here unless someone wants a clarification. Next, the owner rapidly escorted us out, though my friend was not asked to pay for his drink. She told Me to "Get out!!!" , and mumbled something that I can't mention, as I am not sure I could believe what I heard. I have lived in Seattle for 24 years and have never been treated as such condescending and insolent manner, let alone by the owner of an establishment that frankly I was excited to check out prior to this debacle. I was looking for a place to gather quietly but apparently they expect you to drink in silence , which was never clarified to me. On top of this, the one person that we could tell was reading, didn't seem bothered when we checked in with her. An older group and separate younger were allowed to carry on despite speaking louder than us (still conversationally , but definitely not whispering as we had been trying to do). Neither of these groups were individuals of color- which I bring up, due to the differential treatment we received despite all of us speaking or whispering in similar tones, and due to the words told to me that I'm having a hard time believing I heard - let's just say I felt "profiled" ... if you know what I mean. The potatoes were not my vibe personally - while I like dijon/grey mustard, there was quite a bit on these. I'm also not a potato person. The BEST part was definitely the mushroom agnolotti - it reminded me of a dish i got at a capital hill restaurant, Cornelly's. The sauce was incredible and salty, the filling was delish. My only thing was that the dried mushrooms on top were a little big and dry for me, that being said, i'd still get this again!
