Toasted Garlic Tortellini - meatballs & burrata
Julie P.

Delightfully surprised (in a good way) by this place! After having couple drinks near by, we wanted to grab more drinks and late night food! Walking around Belltown, we stumbled upon The Rendezvous! Very good selection of food. We came in around 9pm and ordered some food and drinks. We had the Avocado dish which had ricotta fritters & bacon - wow it was so delicious! We also had the Toasted Garlic Tortellini and this was super good as well - it was so cheesy with the burrata which is my favorite kind of pasta dish! :) Also on Fridays and Saturday nights, they have Ramen night starting at 10pm! The Mushroom Miso Ramen was really good! Heard this place has a theater where you can eat & watch a show which is super cool! We'll definitely come back here again for sure :)

Not a bad place in Belltown. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is ok. We popped in here on our night out and the place is chill. The drinks are delicious and expertly crafted. Definitely a place for great drinks and will have to try more next time.

Simple bar that's kind of divey. If you're looking for a holdover spot while waiting for a reservation, I actually think this is a really great option. It's quiet enough to have a conversation and the drinks don't break the bank. I would recommend d for someone looking to have a drink and catchup. I wouldn't recommend this spot if you're looking to rage or for this to be the sole purpose of the outing. I think it compliments the night's plans.

Good food on top of great drinks and shows!!

Loved this spot! How have I not known about this place until now?! What an eccentrically adorable dive with a theater in back! I saw Gutenberg! here with a friend and loved every second of being here. I never would have guessed there would be an old Art Deco style theatre within the walls of this space. What a cool concept that you can order food and drink from Rendezvous while watching a show in the theatre. Food and drink options were plentiful and servers and bartenders were sweet. Seating in the theatre is a little awkward but cozy. Note* test out your chair before the show starts - mine was halfway broken and became really uncomfortable halfway through the first act. I would definitely return to see a comedy show here or just have a bite to eat and drink here. Very cool.

Update: I just love this place. Its a "go have a drink with friends, great happy hour, and great service" kind of place. The owners can usually be found milling around, even helping out when it gets busy. This place caters to all types and has a great atmosphere without TVs or blaring music. March 2008 has been the coldest month on record in Seattle. April so far hasn't been much better. Cold, rain, and snow have been the norm. While leaving the Rendezvous and Bell town the other night we saw a tall blond walking down the street wearing only a skimpy miniskirt dress and heals, and it was only in the high 30's. She definitely wasn't headed to Rendezvous and this is why I hang out there. I see people refer to the Rendezvous as a dive bar but I don't think this is incorrect. If one were comparing the ascetics of the Rendezvous to the polished, techno thumping, popular-for-a-second bars that have infested much of the Belltown, I could see how one would think this bar is a dive. These people have obviously never been to the Barnoff on Karaoke night. The Rendezvous is a poet and artist's bar, a place for people who want to meet friends, drink beer (they also have a full bar), talk, and eat good bar food. It is also one of the last places in the area to house a venue, the Jewel Box Theatre, where anyone with $75 can host an event. The service is usually spot on but they do have hiccups at times. The prices and drink selection is on par for the area. If you have a large party ( I think 6 or more) the will add gratuity to the bottom line. This happened to us once and the waitress didn't tell us letting us tip even more. After a going here for over a year this has been the only negative experience I can think of.

Jewelbox Theater interior. Some Booths in the back. The front is more comedy show seating.

How is the seating at theater?

There are folding chairs (some better than others) in not so orderly rows. There are a few tables with chairs as well. It's a small intimate space with max 25-28 chairs if I had to guess from memory.

They've got tons of pinball machines, but the thing I absolutely LOVED were the booths with the pinball machines built right into the tables. Overall just a really fun little bar with a lot of character. I'd absolutely come back.

They have games, an ATM to get quarters to play the games, free condoms box above the quarter ATM. And my favorite part a Photo Booth! A great bar to me has a Photo Booth, street fighter, and private booths. This has it all. Love how we can have fun playing games, taking pics, choosing a song, and having great conversations in the comfy booths. Service is helpful. One night one of the games ate our quarters up and never worked so we let the bartender know and a few minutes later he gave us our quarters back. Staff is efficient and keeps the bar clean picking up any left behind glasses quickly. The bar is quirky and fun. Private and comfy booths, and lots of clowns everywhere. Sad clowns, happy clowns, creepy clowns, and more clowns than you can count! The bathrooms are unisex with plenty of stickers to look at. Always hand soap and toilet paper available even when busy. Hard working staff! Some areas of the bar like near the bathrooms have flashy lights and makes it feel like you're at the circus. The vibe is laid back and care free. Have yet to try the food so no words on that quite yet! Always a great time at Shorty's. Literally one of my favorite bars! Highly recommend!

Imperial Kitchen and Bar in Belltown offers Hong Kong cafe style food while offering a full bar experience including creative cocktails. The food menu has a variety of international choices, and the dishes are pleasantly good. The place is understandably loud, being a bar. The décor is old-school dark wood bar chic with small HK style neon signs hanging from the ceiling. The Seahawks celebrations merriment was still ongoing with karaoke blasting on Superbowl Sunday. Service was swift, and the food came out in a timely manner. I will remember this place for future late-night food. The Food: Rib Eye Steak Platter, $28 - 4.5 Stars This sizzling platter comes with your choice of sauce and a choice of starch. Hubby chose black pepper sauce and spaghetti. Hubby asked for medium rare, but the rarest they offer is medium due to being served on a sizzling platter. Fair enough. The platter did arrive smoking hot. The flavors were pretty good. The black pepper sauce was delivered warm, not very hot. The flavors met expectations. Stir Fried Udon with Tenderloin Steak, $20.95 - 4 Stars This dish is also done in a black pepper sauce. I quite like the high veggies-to-udon ratio, almost equal parts. Overall flavor is a bit salty. Some beef pieces are better than others, a mix of tender and chewy. Garlic Pepper Soft Shell Crab, $16.95 - 3.5 Stars Despite being fried, these pieces are softer, less crispy than I all other fried soft-shell crab I have had. Perhaps they might need to double fry. These have good flavor with good seasonings despite not being particularly crispy.

There is a caveat though, which is that they only have select items in the AYCE menu. The ambiance of the place was inviting enough for us to give them a try! There is a 90 minute window for AYCE, and you can order a maximum of 3 items per person every 15 minutes. All orders have to be made from an app on your phone so make sure you have a fully charged device! When we logged in the app, it was confusing to manage at first so we worked with the server to put our orders in. She had to put in our orders for us a couple of times and then we figured out how to work the system after that. To do the math for those reading the review and maximize the number of items you can order with the 90 minute window, you can potentially order up to 18 sets of skewers per person. Each set of skewer has two sticks. My hubby and I missed a few items from our order but we were getting full after my 10th skewer and his 15th skewer so it did not matter too much! The AYCE menu also has options to order zaru soba, corn cheese, and takoyaki! Presentation is great but I wish the flavor matched the visuals. The standout skewers for us were the boruta pork and the wagyu beef tongue. I was really hoping that the yakitori would be crispier and had more of a smokey flavor but I really can't complain too much for the price point. The food is solid but not like a wow, I have to come back here again! We only saw one server for the busiest part of the night, serving 8 tables all at once. She made sure that our glasses were never empty and she treated us warmly. Wile the decor and the general atmosphere are pleasant, the quality of the food would not merit another visit for me.

This is…read moreparticularly the case after 3 AM, but that's where this cafe shines as the light in a sea of darkness, welcoming in people from around the city who just want sustenance after a night of mostly alcohol. It serves comfort food - classic breakfast diner items that can bring a person back from the dead. The eclectic fellows that inhabit this establishment in the wee hours of the morning come in all shapes and sizes, but they just have one goal - eat something greasy and satisfying. That's where this place delivers. I ended up here at slightly after 3 AM - and it was pretty packed. All the tables were full, and we were considering leaving after about ten minutes when one finally opened up. The servers are incredibly busy, and it took us about 15 minutes to actually get our order in. I got the cheese curds as my meal. These were easily the best cheese curds I've ever had. In Seattle, I've had a few instances of cheese curds that are relatively sad on the inside - they have a decent fry, but fail on the cheese aspect. That's absolutely not the case here. This cheese is amazing. It's the perfect level of squeakiness, and the stretch is unreal. It has a very unique flavor that you'll only find in cheese curds, that soft yet milk-like taste that's so addicting. It was melty, gooey, and hot inside. The taste was just pure heaven - I was shocked at how good these were. The fry on the outside is also so good. It's light yet so crispy; a beautiful golden brown that produces an amazing crunch when you eat it. Just phenomenal. The sauce provided with this was solid, but honestly I didn't even need it as the curds were amazing by itself. I tried some of the chicken fried steak as well. This was fine. The scrambled eggs were decent, but the hash browns felt a little limp and soggy. The steak itself was pretty average. The prices here aren't too bad either - my cheese curds were around $16, but the portion size was more than enough. Overall, this is a true late night classic that serves pretty great food as well. 8.75/10

We came here to eat because it was near our hotel. I was OBSESSED with the crab nachos. 2 months later, I moved out here all on my own. Now, 8 years later, I live nearby. Whenever someone is visiting, we come here. Whenever I run into a stranger visiting, i say they have to come here. My friends know if i'm celebrating anything, "are you getting crab nachos?!" It's become a part of my personality at this point. I have so much respect for the owners, the way they run their business and their honesty online. No one I've brought here has had a bad thing to say regardless of what they ordered. My go to is: Pull apart bread, crab nachos (with their hot sauce!! which, btw can i buy that by the bottle.. cause YUM) + whatever drink is calling my name (they rotate, but if you can get the pina colada you won't regret it). tldr; you'll regret NOT coming here.

I underestimated the attractiveness of Happy Hour where many drinks are $1 to $3 off. The place was full and became even fuller (and louder) by the end of our meal. This bar is hopping with many regulars, alcohol-filled, with multiple screens televising sports. When we went in October, the food menu says the food is discounted 25% off during certain late hours. The current online menu doesn't say that anymore. Not sure if that deal is still available. Our server was easygoing. Note they charge 3% for credit card use. The Food: SRB Burger, $22 - 3 Stars Menu: Painted Hills beef, burrata mozzarella, basil aioli, arugula, pickled onions, hand cut fries Per the menu description, this burger sounded great. Unfortunately for hubby, this burger has the exact pet peeve that he dislikes the most - where the patty is small and tall (he calls it ball shape) compared to the bun. The patty diameter is significantly smaller than the bun. He literally hates that. I had to tilt the camera much lower to see the patty inside. On the plus side, the fries are great. Grilled Shrimp Club, $24 - 3.5 Stars Menu: bacon, lettuce, tomato, house made guacamole, roasted chipotle aioli, hand cut fries This club sandwich is very good except for the one thing that the menu didn't specify - the bun. They use ciabatta bread, which I find doughy, thick, and overwhelms a sandwich. That is my pet peeve for a sandwich. Neither of us is betting well on this night. They are probably more of a 3.5 Stars overall. We find their prices to be high, especially since they additionally charge a credit card fee. When we went, the cost was $21, $23 respectively. The prices are now $22 and $24 per online menu. I would not return for food only. I would return for a bar vibe.
