Ambience. A Service. A Food/drinks. A Price. A My favorite bar in Capitol Hill. The staff goes all out decorating for the holiday season. Wow!!! The elves outdid themselves this year 2025! Service always friendly and drinks are always a good gay pour!!! Bar food is also delicious too! Haven't been here for Xmas in years. Glad I have a place to hangout I'm a FaN!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun bar! My friend brought me here for a nightcap and I'm so glad he did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Walking in they checked our IDs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Wednesday night so not super packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You enter through the patio and it's sooo beautiful! It was all lit up with lights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, the vibe in here was so fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can only imagine what it's like on a weekend! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had pop music playing (my favorite) with the music videos playing on the board behind. Soooo fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend ordered me a gin and tonic, my go to drink. It was made really well and really good! The staff here was so nice and a gentleman asked if he could take our glasses at the end of the night. I'd definitely come back here!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The drinks and food were pretty good and the vibes were on point.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went on a Monday and had a fantastic time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was good and the Halloween decor was really cute too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the playlist and would come back honestly just for the vibes but the cheese curds would also be worth it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A reUNION with dear friends from undergrad whom I haven't seen in ages thanks to a forever performance by Miss Rona and The Variants.

The pandemic made socialising hard at first, and a despondent affair later for the debonair homosexual alighting from city to city looking to meet cute, funny but definitely not funny looking guys. Union alleviated that despair for me, and for that I am grateful. First, the atmosphere is urbane, electric yet easy. There are gay bars where one feels compelled to "perform," but the ambiance at Union exerted no such pressure. The staff and the crowd were all easy to talk to. I had several fun conversations with strangers. Secondly, the patio area is expansive, bustling and provides a much-needed reprieve from the necessary tediousness of pandemic precautions. I am enclosing a picture I took with friends I hadn't seen in years. With the stars above and luminous, hopeful camaraderie below, how could one not have a magical evening?

Union's Dark and Stormies are giving me hurricane vibes . This drink has more shots than a clinic #ooouuuuu

It's not as divey as it was then, but at 80 years old and Seattle's oldest gay bar, it's a treasure. Fun and friendly, not your cruisy stand-and-model variety. People actually talk to you, and the stellar staff knows you almost immediately. It's Cheers for the queer tribe.

But tonight I received the most aggressive and ridiculous interaction with their staff. I have lived on Capitol Hill for ten years, and have been going to The Crescent casually throughout that time with no terribly bad experiences. But tonight, when a glass was broken and I instinctively went to help clean up (I understand staff does not want customers to help with broken glass and I should have left it alone, but I instinctively moved one large piece and then stopped) I was yelled at quickly and aggressively by a member of the staff. I do not know this woman, she is not usually working when I go in, so I'm not sure if she was hired temporarily for Pride weekend or if she was a new hire. What I do know is that she did not care how she came across to me, or anyone else in the vicinity, and even came outside after I decided to leave and continued to yell at me as I left. I can't attest to this personally, but after she yelled at me in the bar, I was told by other patrons that she had been aggressive and strict about kicking people out for various reasons. I am a loyal patron here, but am disheartened by the behavior of this staff member who made things mean and aggressive in what could have been a benign moment. With many years in the service industry myself I know situations can get stressful and guests don't always do what you would like them to do, but it is quite literally your job to handle those situations. I know typically The Crescent is a very positive and kind place, and hope someone who exhibits this kind of behavior will not continue to represent them.
