I had a really disappointing experience at Crescent Lounge. I was asked to leave after talking with two other patrons, which is fine--bars can make that call. However, during the process, the staff member at the door grabbed my arm hard enough to leave visible bruising. What made this worse is that when I followed up with management, I was told a different version of events that didn't reflect what actually happened. There was no acknowledgment of the physical force used, despite the injury. I tried to handle this privately first and gave the business time to review their security footage, but the response I received was dismissive. I'm sharing this so others are aware. I hope Crescent Lounge takes a closer look at how situations like this are handled in the future. read more

I love this neighborhood gay karaoke bar, and have been coming for 45 years, back when you could still smoke inside! It's not as divey as it was then, but at 80 years old and Seattle's oldest gay bar, it's a treasure. Fun and friendly, not your cruisy stand-and-model variety. People actually talk to you, and the stellar staff knows you almost immediately. It's Cheers for the queer tribe. read more

Hurts me to do this but last night was so bad that I feel this is necessary. The KJ's decision to put themself before my black friend and telling them it would be another 30 minutes after being there for 45 was a choice on their part When I went to join my friends outside to smoke when someone was "being pitchy" apparently mentioning it to the door was enough to get kicked out. It was the KJ and I was told that I was insulting their coworkers by saying so. Anyone with ears that work would have walked away. Glad they're living their best fantasy. They absolutely play favorites and skip people who are not regulars. Definitely a cool and fun vibe, but unfortunately, they do not play fair :( they didn't let me sign up for karaoke even though it was 2 hours before closing which is kind of crazy. Rats. They have rats. They've had rats for a long time. The owners know, the regulars know and make jokes about it. It is entirely unprofessional and unsanitary that they have let it continue this long. I vividly remember being present when a customer saw one of the rats and just about jumped out of his skin. I've found rat droppings in multiple spots around the bar. There are huge holes that lead to under the floor. Please if a health inspector reads this, do a thorough look for evidence of rats, it is everywhere. The owners can only hide it from them for so long, right? read more

Let me preface that typically, I recommend The Crescent to anyone I know that would appreciate a good karaoke bar. But tonight I received the most aggressive and ridiculous interaction with their staff. I have lived on Capitol Hill for ten years, and have been going to The Crescent casually throughout that time with no terribly bad experiences. But tonight, when a glass was broken and I instinctively went to help clean up (I understand staff does not want customers to help with broken glass and I should have left it alone, but I instinctively moved one large piece and then stopped) I was yelled at quickly and aggressively by a member of the staff. I do not know this woman, she is not usually working when I go in, so I'm not sure if she was hired temporarily for Pride weekend or if she was a new hire. What I do know is that she did not care how she came across to me, or anyone else in the vicinity, and even came outside after I decided to leave and continued to yell at me as I left. I can't attest to this personally, but after she yelled at me in the bar, I was told by other patrons that she had been aggressive and strict about kicking people out for various reasons. I am a loyal patron here, but am disheartened by the behavior of this staff member who made things mean and aggressive in what could have been a benign moment. With many years in the service industry myself I know situations can get stressful and guests don't always do what you would like them to do, but it is quite literally your job to handle those situations. I know typically The Crescent is a very positive and kind place, and hope someone who exhibits this kind of behavior will not continue to represent them. read more

I brought my friend from out of state to sing. Midway through her set, the bouncer came up and told me I was being racially insensitive by making a "wowowow" sound when cheering for singers. Apparently, the bouncers are also race checkers and decided that my noise was offensive. I am half Indian and that noise means "happy for you" yet they kicked me out because someone else might be offended by my cheering. Do not bother with this shit bar. Anyone who defends a random bouncer coming in and disrupting peoples sets just to pretend to be offended at a noise, doesn't need to be a bar open in seattle. read more

Bartenders are amazing. Service is fast. Karaoke host will tell you she can get you in at 1215 but at 130 says she can't promise anything. Tipped $20 as well. From talking to regulars you need to get here at 9. This is despite it not being busy. Sound system is decent. Song choices need to be updated. read more

Great bar! Strong drinks, fun karaoke. Except this random lady intimidated my friends and I, implying our IDs were fake (even though the bartender already checked them) and stared us down, only to find out she doesn't even work there?? We complained to the bouncer about her strange behavior only for him to inform us that she does this often and doesn't work there. I feel like she should be 86'd... but what do I know? This place is God awful. There were maybe 2 dozen people in the bar on a Saturday. Clarissa runs the karaoke at Crescent Lounge, at least on Saturdays. However even arriving at 11:00 PM on a Saturday with 8 people in the bar the wait to sing a song is 2.5 hours, after waiting an hour from putting a name in, it was another 1.5 hours to sing. Mind you there were 6-7 singers in that time (including Clarissa and her friend who's birthday it was, who conveniently moved ahead of everyone). We gave her a "tip" but unless you are a regular don't plan to actually sing within any reasonable time. Calling out all the singers names who are no longer there is mainly how Clarissa spends her time as a DJ. Instead of actually finding people to actually sing karaoke (remember there were a couple dozen total people in the bar) she called herself to sing, her girlfriend whose birthday it was, and then the bartender, who proceeded to threaten people to treat their bar staff well, or we'll close down early (it was daylight savings time). Everytime I have gone to the crescent the customers are phenomenal however, the bartender on the week nights is extremely rude and inappropriate. Not only to people who appear to be regulars but crude comments made usually in reference to his crotch are made to new customers as well as other staff members when he doesn't think anyone is watching outside. I've been a number of times and will continue to spend my money there as I connect with the community here. However they really need to reconsider having (I think his name was Rubin?) as their main bartender. If he comes in with a bad mood it is everybody's problem and that's not fair to the customers... We decided to end out honey moon trip at the islands and head to Seattle a day early. Anyway I wanted to sing karaoke and when I googled it this place came up. I am so glad that we came here. Everyone was so nice and friendly! There was gorgeous divas everywhere! The bartender Ruvin was dope! He was very nice and accommodating. They definitely made out night so much more fun and interesting. The drinks were great and moderately priced. Despite the amount of people there the restrooms were surprisingly clean. I hope that I can come back here soon and see all these wonderful people again. read more

First time ever here and last time ever here, specially for karaoke. Waited for the short haired feminine bartender to talk to their friend for 2 minutes until the bouncer came over took my order (which isn't a long time but when there's only 10 people max in the bar it's like helllllo?).... They also have rules posted on not bribing the KJ but if you're the KJ or know her then you're most likely going to get your song in. Also, maybe it's cause I'm from Portland where our last call is 10 min before close and we don't kick people out till 5 after, but here they start putting chairs up / lights on at 1:30am, so maybe put you close at 1:30 and not 2? It made me feel so rushed and didn't even get my 2 karaoke requests in despite putting them in at 1:10am (with 6 people in the bar and only 2 of them singing???) and not closing for another 40minutes, but I'm so glad the KJ could get her song in even though she's there every weekend I'm sure and this was our first (and now only) time there ? read more

Not a friendly or welcoming place at all. It was my first time there and I was met with condescending answers when I asked how to properly get a drink. Apparently there's a "line" system that isn't obvious considering the random l, incorrect signs that say "order here". WORST EXPERIENCE IN YEARS Been going to this LEGIT dive Bar for about 5 years now, and yesterday was the last straw. Aside from the entire place being FILTHY, like dust on everything, it's not worth it. Especially if you go for karaoke. Every time I go there, the KJ is a total dick t me. He turns the mic OFF. He speeds up my songs. Jealous maybe? I hosted karaoke for over 7 years, so I know when my mic is off. Seattle is a passive-aggressive city, but this is nuts! The place is snobby and if you don't know the people who work there, don't expect much. You can do better at Queer Bar karaoke nights. I was lucky enough to have gone to Hula Hula early one evening. I went early cause last time it was full up and the last I heard The Crescent was closed. Long story short I paid too much for a margarita and watched what sounded like a bunch of unemployed musical theater folk singing karaoke. They were good but too good if you get my drift. I heard some guy at the bar talking about The Crescent just opened and there was a party going on. He was right. It was a gas. I hadn't sung karaoke without a mask for a year and a half and then only a couple times recently. Good happy hour, great owners, nice staff, fun crowd. I absolutely love this bar for the karaoke and the amazing host in Tuesday's, Blake. However as a bartender I tend to watch liquor pours when I am paying $10+ for drinks and this bar consistently does half pours. You don't even get a full ounce pour at this bar and I feel that for the price they should make sure their employees are giving full shots. Disappointed and will stick to drinking at other bars before going for karaoke. read more

I've only been to the Crescent twice and usually I'm repulsed by the crowd they attract before 8pm... Whenever I drive or walk past (I live just 2 blocks up) I see people standing around who look as though they haven't been sober since 1980. I will say though that the bar is AWESOME for karaoke and drinks on the weekends. I've never seen a whole bar sing along to a song like that! In fact, I'm not much of a singer but I joined in on a number of songs because their selection is great and the whole crowd is into it. If you're looking for a fun place to stumble into on a Friday or Satuday... I highly suggest you take a peak inside because everyone else is clearly having way more fun than you are. Join in and be a part of it! The mix of people is also great. It's stereotyped as a gay bar but to me it appears to be an "everyone is welcome" bar. I never really notice particular "types" of people inside. It's just a room of people out to have a good time. Even agewise you'll find that it's all spread out. We were in Seattle this weekend for a friend's wedding. It also happened to be my birthday on Friday and, after we attended a casual get together with the happy couple, I wanted to sing karaoke. Bad. This bar has karaoke every day. That's right. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. There are also wonderful people singing and supporting the singers. I made friends with a lovely couple, one of whom has been singing there for 10+ years. Good times. This is a popular spot so don't expect to sing a lot. However, I was thrilled to get two songs in before we headed back to our B&B for some much needed beauty sleep. read more

I was really surprised by this place. We went on a Saturday, and it was packed! The atmosphere was really fun, but not as divey as I thought it would be. Very inviting! I'm a huge karaoke fan, so I'm always scoping for the next great place. I think for a group, this place is it! You get a few drinks, belt out whatever song is being sung. Get more drinks, and repeat. As for the karaoke itself. The DJ was nice and seemed very knowledgeable. I didn't look at the book, but it was HUGE! The wait is typical of a busy night; maybe one song an hour. The bummer was I couldn't hear a note I was singing when it was finally my turn. Maybe next time I'm ask to adjust the sound- if that helps, this place is five stars!! read more

Karaoke, karaoke, karaoke! if you do karaoke, then you must know the Crescent. Fun, lively place & there are always loads of people hanging out in front this joint. There's actually not a line to get in, but sometimes it does look like it. Inside it's crowded & hard to find a spot. People are always stepping on you & trying to squeeze past. But that's just because it's so popular. The bathroom sucks & I once had someone walk in on me! They need to make a bigger bathroom. The people are crazy here! If you go with your gay friends and they are hot, have them buy the drinks as they will get much much much better prices! read more

Leaving Alaska, my flight was delayed heading back to DC. I was stuck in Seattle for three days. I love Seattle now and this bar is a major contributing factor. In my short stay in Seattle, I visited this bar twice. I enjoyed the laid-back, welcoming, and fun atmosphere. The karaoke is well-run and they have a wide song selection. There is also free street parking in the area, which is a plus. I was there on a slow night, so my friend and I were able to sing three times each.  The only thing I did not like was the inconsistency in drink prices. On my first night, I ordered a delicious Old Fashioned with Jim Bean bourbon. I was charged $8. However, the second night I visited, the bartender Marc (who is an excellent singer btw) made me the same drink, but charged me $11. He said it was because he added club soda, which amounted to $3 extra. First of all, Old Fashioned drinks do not contain club soda. I never asked him to add anything extra. Secondly, bartenders should charge consistent prices and use correct ingredients. I hope they fix this inconsistency for future patrons, especially since Old Fashioned is a very common drink order.  Other than that, it was a very nice dive bar. I would come back in future visits; I would just order shots. read more
