However, when I wanted to stop by a couple days ago there was a line outside of 20 people. Since the bar is super popular we had to wait in a pretty long line inside at the bar. The bartenders were moving as fast as possible but since they were finishing entire orders before moving onto the next person the line moved slowly. The entire bar was decked out in Christmas decorations, featuring a large tree, numerous festive wall adornments ideal for Instagram. The place fully embraced the Christmas theme, significantly contributing to the dive bar's overall ambiance. The Christmas-themed menu consisted of 5-6 festive drinks including a couple of seasonal specials, and a "nice and naughty" shot. I tried the ube and coconut drink which I thought was really tasty and not too sweet.The combination of ube and coconut proved to be harmonious and it was quite strong. I also tried the pumpkin espresso martini drink which was definitely stronger but I didn't really get the hints of pumpkin or espresso. They also had Jell-O shots that were surprisingly big. Sadly, we only got to belt out a few songs before they closed the karaoke, but it was a Sunday, so we totally got it, they close early. The talent, the heavy pour drinks (for the price), and the friends you can make here were so awesome. The owner left to go grab more right away which was very responsive, but the bartender seemed to arrive late and didn't know the menu was online, which made it a bit difficult to order without some back and forth. They were also out of the popcorn on the menu unfortunately. Once they are all up to speed and stocked, I think it will be good though. The ambiance was pretty cool with the disco balls and shimmery paint. The owner was also super kind and informative and attentive. I think that this place will be really cool once they can get into a rhythm and come into their own after replacing the previous Gold Bar. I plan to come back after they've had some time to establish.

I have lived on Capitol Hill for ten years, and have been going to The Crescent casually throughout that time with no terribly bad experiences. But tonight, when a glass was broken and I instinctively went to help clean up (I understand staff does not want customers to help with broken glass and I should have left it alone, but I instinctively moved one large piece and then stopped) I was yelled at quickly and aggressively by a member of the staff. I do not know this woman, she is not usually working when I go in, so I'm not sure if she was hired temporarily for Pride weekend or if she was a new hire. What I do know is that she did not care how she came across to me, or anyone else in the vicinity, and even came outside after I decided to leave and continued to yell at me as I left. I can't attest to this personally, but after she yelled at me in the bar, I was told by other patrons that she had been aggressive and strict about kicking people out for various reasons. I am a loyal patron here, but am disheartened by the behavior of this staff member who made things mean and aggressive in what could have been a benign moment. With many years in the service industry myself I know situations can get stressful and guests don't always do what you would like them to do, but it is quite literally your job to handle those situations. I know typically The Crescent is a very positive and kind place, and hope someone who exhibits this kind of behavior will not continue to represent them.
