I've been here a handful of times. Since visiting and moving here, many of the locals and friends that I've met here have complained about this place, and I understand why. Unfortunately every time I've been here I've had bad encounters with the staff, from the girls in the front collecting covers and the bartenders inside. I understand dealing with drunk people would be exhausting but every time I've given this place the benefit of the doubt, I've always been disappointed with how the staff interacts with its guests. Many of them seem like they hate their jobs and that could be true, but I don't think it's acceptable to be rude to it's customers. My only decent encounters have been with the bouncers. This place always has a cover no matter how dead or busy it might be. The overall place, is pretty small and the music is decent depending on who the dj is but I've never stayed more than an hour. If you're looking for a place to dance, there are plenty of other places in cap hill that you'll have a better experience at. read more

What Happened to Havana? Havana used to be the place to be in Seattle, but after my last visit, it's clear things have gone downhill. The atmosphere feels totally off. The tables were wobbly, and honestly, it felt like our drinks were going to spill everywhere. The place smells stale, probably from people smoking right at the entrance. The drinks are still decent, but they're way too overpriced for a club that looks like it's falling apart. The music was barely there, almost like the sound system is shot, and the lighting was way too bright -- more like a diner than a nightclub. The crowd was just... boring. No one was dancing or mingling like it used to be. I asked a bartender what's up, and they said it's under new management or ownership. Whatever changes they made, it's definitely not working. Honestly, they should bring back the old management or, if the owner sold, they should buy it back because this place has lost its charm. There is No Disco lights. But it's Free Cover for Ladies before 10 pm. I came on Sept. 29th at 9:25 pm. I came the previous night but no one in the club. So I left and went to another bar and drag show. It's been awhile before Cvid that I've stopped by to dance. I like hanging out on the balcony that has comfortable couches. So the floor is very dark and not as fun as other Dance Clubs that have a few lights. There is colored mood lights changing colors on the 3 areas by the Window. One good thing is this place has large windows that you can look inside without coming in first. The upstairs has cute shiny Macaw Wallpaper. I like parrots. I don't drink alcohol so I can't judge the $8-$12 cocktails. To get a booth, without a VIP Charge, just come before 10 pm. It's empty. DJ Miguel was playing hits and Latin music before 10pm. He turned up the volume after 10pm. The restrooms are clean and there are a lot of mirrors to take selfies in the Ladies Room if that's your thing. I had a very poor experience at Havana. The bartender who identified himself as 'Ducky' was extremely racist and rude towards me and my friends. Anytime I asked him questions about drinks, he had an attitude and also got my order wrong. He also made it a point to mention that I need to speak English although I was speaking English. Hooray for the 90s! Hooray for total request nights with DJ Jay Battle (last Wed of every month)! Hooray for Havana! On Mondays it is empty, but they have their specialty cocktails for what bars out here charge for a well. 5-6 bucks, I've forgotten now. Try them all! Tuesdays are 90s night-- it is packed and you might get creeped on if you aren't able to tell people to back off. In my experience, though, it is a lot roomier and less packed than some other yucky clubs I could mention. I always have a great time here, despite a $4 cover. Wednesdays are the best, though, because you can tweet your requests to the DJ. There is a large projector screen that shows the requests/tweets in real time, which is an added perk. Bar service can be slow when it is slammed, but you'll get a drink. Great place for dancing. read more

Worst bar tending I have ever experienced. I waited st the bar that was staffed by three bartenders for over 20 minutes before myself or other strangers around me were asked for drinks. The service was ridiculously slow. I have never experienced such slow service at any bar in any city. I don't know if any of the bar tenders were new but I gave them Three tries with three different drinks (I have been writing this at the bar waiting as we speak.) still no one has looked over and have been taking far too long making other drinks or working on credit cards. Really wouldn't recommend. Got in at 10pm on a Friday night and the place was dead. Good music but no one was dancing. We ordered a couple cocktails - several were undrinkable and didn't taste like the menu described at all (a honey and lavender cocktail was unbearably sour). The bartenders were pretty friendly, until they told us that we were taking up too much room at the bar and had to move over. It was just me and one friend, and the place was EMPTY. Just a heads up. Cover was $10 for entry per person. There's also a 22% service charge on all purchases made at the bar. I wasn't told about this beforehand, no signs on the wall, no individual to tell me of a 22% charge. It's just an added charge to your receipt. My drinks including this service charge and tax rounded out to $22 per drink. I wasn't drinking top-shelf liquor or something that required years of instruction, just three regular drinks coming out to $67. Nothing against the staff or the security, everyone was nice. But paying $22 for a drink is a bit outrageous. Nightclubs on the Las Vegas strip don't even charge that amount. read more

She yelled at me for a good 2 mins and then my friends because she thought we left our empty drinks and jackets on the reserved table but we were only dancing next to it. THE SETUP Nothing against the other nights that Havana hosts during the rest of the week, but for me Tuesday is the night that I mainly enjoy being here since it is more focused on 90s jams. The music & DJ-dance formats hosted here on their Wednesday-Saturday schedule (mostly Soul and Light Hip-Hop), are not as appealing to me, or at least, not in such a small venue. SOCIAL MIXING However, if you are here more for talking & socializing, and less for the dancing, this could indeed be your cup of tea. With so many little nooks and spaces to engage in intimate conversation with that special someone (for right now), Havana provides a truly eclectic environment with a lot of special touches that includes elegant furnishings & vintage lights. THE DRINKS A bit pricey and over-PR'd, the drinks ARE decent. But I get soooo tired of the term "Hand-Crafted" when places use that misplaced metaphor to self-describe their own drinks - it's pretentious AND obnoxious - hence why I couldn't go 5-STARS in this review. And actually, it's a serious disservice since I can't shake the mental image of my drink containing wood-varnish for "hand-crafting". ;^D But having justifiably "knocked" this place's marketing-team, I must give full-on props to the bartenders, especially for the two tasty beverages the Floridita and the Yokohama. It was a Saturday night and my friends and I were looking for a place that played 'ratchet' music. We walked passed Havana and saw a line but didn't think anything of it. After researching on Yelp, Havana was the place to be for some good hip-hop music. We waited in line for about 30+ minutes, and we figured this place must be great since there's a line. We get to the front and pay a $10 cover charge. By this time, we were already sober and just wanted to dance. We get inside and it looked packed. It was a pain just getting into the dance floor. The dance floor was a decent size, however it was just way too crowded. In addition, my friends and I were right in front of the DJ so there's also a walkway right around there where people kept bumping into us as they walked through. The DJ was a lot of fun--he played a lot of old school hip-hop and R&B which I LOVE. It's a very nostalgic feeling. I'm not sure if we got there too late but I guess the DJ starts from mainstream top 40 to old school. I wish we got there earlier because we all really wanted to get ratchet... but we were still having fun dancing to old school hip-hop. Overall, this was a fun club but it got really annoying when people bump into you. So don't stand by where the DJ is, try to find a spot on the dance floor elsewhere. It especially sucks when you're on the shorter end of the spectrum. I'd give this place another chance though because the music was great. read more

I went with a girlfriend for a girls night on a Saturday night, looking for somewhere to go dancing. It was what you'd expect on a Saturday: busy and a line I get in. The line moved, not quick but it wasn't an excruciatingly long wait. Manageable, I couldn't tell you time cause my friend and I were talking. The Unicorn down the road also head a line and that moved quicker, just no dancing. Cover for 2 people was $22, so $11 a piece. The bathroom has exactly two stalls, for a club this size, it's a little ridiculous. There might be another secret bathroom but I didn't find it. Maybe check upstairs? The dance floor was crowded and the music selection was hit or miss. Drinks are priced right for the area but nothing to write home about. If you like your personal space and not to be touched, this isn't your place. Crowded and with the music it's difficult to hear so people just push by. Too crowded that night with a bunch of tall people. Their DJ played excellent music in rap, r&b, reggae. But the place was too young for me. After a little bit our server disappeared and I wasn't able to dance since the floor was for standing only since it was packed! Prices for drinks was average. Drinks were good. I had a vegas bomb; I haven't had one in a while and it was good. There's only one entrance and exit here and it is located in the back by the parking area. No good.
