Too crowded that night with a bunch of tall people. Their DJ played excellent music in rap, r&b, reggae. But the place was too young for me. After a little bit our server disappeared and I wasn't able to dance since the floor was for standing only since it was packed! Prices for drinks was average. Drinks were good. I had a vegas bomb; I haven't had one in a while and it was good. There's only one entrance and exit here and it is located in the back by the parking area. No good. Drinks are great. Waitstaff is friendly and helpful. This isn't about that. The Friday night dj (dj's?) is consistently bad. Here are some pro tips for the dj: 1. If the majority of people on the dance floor cheers for a song that's being played, let it play for longer than 20 seconds. 2. If you get complaints about the music you're playing, consider changing what you're doing. 3. Quit scratching and remixing nostalgic songs. They're fine as is. 4. Try to create some sort of flow out of the order in which you play songs. For example, don't play a few seconds of a dance hit, switch over to a few seconds of 90s hip hop, then over to a rap b-side. This will help people dance without periods of standing around, trying to figure out how to move to the next iteration of music. Don't make it a challenge for people to keep up. read more

From the outside, the place appears to be rocking out from the inside - but once you finally find your way to the entrance (hint): its hidden far around the corner inside a parking lot. It took my friend and I a few times to figure out how the heck to get in or decide whether or not to jump over the chair in the doorway behind the band. There is also a $5 cover just to get in. The venue has alot of potential for coolness if it were spiffed up - clean up the furniture and floors. Also getting a drink here is next to impossible unless you get in the bartender's face. First time I felt like I had to be a dude in order to get a drink. Music here is uber loud so don't bring a date here!. And last but not least, I didn't think a bartender could possibly give such a shoddy Gin&Tonic but believe it, it happened here. This might be an oxymoron but I truly find this to be a lovely club. I came here a few weeks ago on a Friday night and I was truly blown away by how kind, friendly, and attentive the staff were. They all took their jobs seriously without taking themselves too serious. The security team and bartenders made me feel safe and taken care of WITHOUT being rude or disrespectful to patrons. Came here for a girls' night out and was so psyched to find it! I was a little nervous that we'd be stuck wandering around Capitol Hill looking for a nondescript door, but Havana has large windows that look onto the street, even though the entrance is tucked away. Bartenders were super friendly and put together some strong drinks. Loved the fact that people were just out to dance! The douchey/groper people stayed off the floor until later in the night..when everyone was wearing beer goggles. I'd definitely come back again! read more

Went here on a Wednesday night coming from Southern California my first night in Seattle. Got a drink and had my tab opened. At the end of the night I went to close my tab and they LOST my debit card!! They're excuse was that they're was to many people with the same last name as me (there was only 2). It was very unprofessional and I had to ask for the manager because none of the employees had informed him! The manager was very helpful in the situation and I appreciate that. But the bartender that opened my tab who is known as "Ducky" blonde hair dude with tattoos had an attitude and was asking me where I lost my card and who opened my tab when it was HIM that lost it and had it last! I visited here again recently and need to do a review update! They say on the website that it is $5 cover between 9pm and 11pm and $9 after 11pm for Fridays/Saturdays. My friends and I arrived right before 11pm and there was no line, the lady charged us $6 each. I almost asked her why it is not $5 as listed on the website but I decided to save myself from potential arguments. When we walked in, there were not a lot of people. People started coming in and dancing around more after 11pm. Also $3 for each coat check. The music was okay. Some other clubs/venues in Belltown definitely have better DJs and music. The only two reasons I would choose Capitol Hill over Belltown/downtown are that 1) Capitol Hill has a slightly younger crowd (college aged) and 2) has buses nearby that run through 2am in the morning. However, in downtown/Belltown, if nobody is sober enough to drive, you have to leave early at around 1am at the latest to catch the bus or pay a lot of money to cab. I agree with Katy H. that this place is not easy to find. It is located inside a parking lot and its entrance is really hidden. Came here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Seriously, people were pretty much shoulder to shoulder...which makes dancing a bit hard. I wish there was better ventilation in here. I felt dirty after I left...probably from the person dancing next to me and rubbing their sweat into me. Gross. I came here for a night of entertainment. Despite the entrance being off the street in a parking lot and the absence of a typical neon sign one would expect at these night clubs, there was a long line of ethnically diverse twenty to thirty somethings waiting to get in. Unlike some clubs that artificially keep the line long to draw more customers, this place was very full. Unfortunately when I walked in the room I was hit by a a heavy and muggy heat blast. So many dancing bodies and no A/C isn't the most pleasant combination. I heard one lady who was complaining that it was so hot that she had a hard time getting her pants up after she used the restroom! The cover charge was a modest $5 compared to other places in the neighborhood that charge up to $20. Alcoholic beverages are priced what you would expect. Bars as usual have very high mark ups. The music that was playing was top 40, R&B and hip hop. It appears that this bar is doing well with much of its marketing done by word of mouth. This says something positive. read more

The wait was short the security did a great job checking everyone bf going into the club. A girl in front of me didn't get in because of a backpack so no backpacks aloud. Also they have a place to check in your coat bc it's freezing outside and hot as hell inside. The music was awesome on a Friday night. A lot more boys than girls here forsure. This establishment is a great place to cut loose and do some dancing. It is decently sized, the décor is very cool and gives you that Cuban feel. Ladies free before 10pm which saves you some $$$ on the cover and leaves you more for drinks. The bartenders are fast and the drinks are prepared with generous portions of alcohol. Would have been a better rating if it weren't for a few things. They need a better way to advertise the entrance, we are new to the area and we walked around the block twice looking for the front door. They need to invest in some sort of air circulation or air conditioning because when the dance floor gets crowded it is like a sauna in there (not all people wear deodorant). Havana deserves a solid 3-star review for its drinks and atmosphere. I came with a group of friends on a Tuesday night and we got in quickly as it was before 10. I didn't mind that there was hardly anyone there as I had heard that Havana gets packed later in the evening. We ordered drinks from the bar and I started with the "Signature Move" cocktail. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything I would get again and especially for $11. The beers which ranged from $4-$6 were a much better deal: assured quality for a lower price. The scene itself was pretty fun. By midnight the dance floor was pretty packed, so be prepared to be surrounded by sweaty randos. As long as that is okay by you, it's a good time. I enjoyed dancing with my friends and the crowd was really diverse which was cool. The music on Tuesday nights is 90s and we heard mostly 90s hip hop. Definitely the most live spot on E Pike on Tuesday nights. If you're in the area looking for a place to go out then I would recommend. If you are coming to E Pike with the sole purpose of trying out Havana, I would not recommend the trip! read more

I came here with IPB and a few others and it was an interesting time! First of all I liked the music. Cover was $10. That's fine. We went in and this place was crowded. We went to the bar to get drinks. My friend and I both got a cocktail- some tequila grapefruit lime concoction. It was decent but a bit on the tart side. Oh and there was an ENTIRE BROKEN BOTTOM of a bottle in my friend's glass mixed in with the ice. That's kind of terrifying. It was a big ordeal and it was loud as hell but we finally communicated what happened. They changed out the ice bucket and said they refunded my friend's purchase but they never gave her a voided credit card receipt. So only time will tell. The bartender did remake both drinks for us. I haven't been groped this much in years. Some guy came up behind me and literally punched me in the ass then proceeded to apologize profusely saying he thought I was someone else. Good times. Typical club scene with people grinding on each other in your face and a mass of humanity all in one small area. If there was a fire there I hate to see what would happen. For anyone who hasn't been to this club before, this place is located right next to Poquitos. To enter, simply go to the back parking lot behind Poquitos and there, you'll usually find a line of some sort that leads to the club entrance. For ladies, if you're here before 10pm, it's free entry! Between 10-1130ish, this club doesn't get too packed. Closer to midnight, expect to dance almost shoulder to shoulder with people. Age range here: Majority are in the late 20s - 30s/40s, and the guy to girl ratio is usually even. Coat check is around $3 and drinks are typical prices ($8-10+). For the most part, the booths/tables are first come, first serve basis unless you see a Reserved sign on it. Dance floor is an ok size but you will find it feeling a bit small and cramped when this place gets packed. As for the music and experience here, you either love it or you hate it. For the vast majority of the music, it's usually 90s to early 2000s hip hop music. On really fun nights (and depending on the crowd), it's pretty cool to see people recognize the same songs you grew up listening to and having a spontaneous group karaoke session with everyone singing along to the song. For me, last Saturday was pretty awesome. The music cuts were slightly on the more current trends (with more trap remixes + 2010 and later songs) and there were some random Rock 'n Roll + Top 40 as well. But at the end of the night, the DJs brought back the old school vibe with the classic songs of the 90s to the crowd. For me, I would consider a bad night to be full of 90s rap (which makes dancing difficult unless you're intoxicated) + guy ratio = too many creepy men. Fortunately, the bad scenario only happened a couple of times for me and all the other visits has always been fun. This is one of those places that you need to know where it's at. Entry into the club is through a parking lot of off Pike Street. You walk down a pathway covered by an awning that reminds you of either walking into a classic 1940s bar from the film Casablanca or some other older social club. Upon entering.... "Dance, Dance, Dance 'til you're dead" ("Heads will Roll" by Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs) is the song that comes to mind. There is a good mix of music to entice you to dance and since the dance floor is small, it seems to always be packed with people ready to dance until the break of dawn. The only negative is that on one side of the dance floor is the bar and you have to navigate your way through the dance floor to make it to the other side where the tables are or stairs to the upstairs loft that has some seating or navigate back through to the bathrooms that are at the entrance of the club. With this layout, drinks in hand can ALWAYS be an interesting adventure! Luckily they also have waitresses that come around and check if you want anything more. Even though it was packed with many people ordering, I was pleasantly surprised by the short time it took to get our drinks. Overall interior is beautiful. High Ceilings, nice bathrooms, tropical plants, amazing light fixtures, just an overall eloquent place that could seriously make you think you are in the film Casablanca (if they could turn the interior to black & white). Cover charge can range anywhere from nothing to $8, depending on the time & night you go. Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, I'll be walking into this one again. read more

You guys. You GUYS. This club is a magical wonderland where your dreams can and will come true. Example. One night my old college roommate, best friend, and recently turned 21 year old brother went to Havana. It was around Christmas (this is relevant.) We started with doubles, and we kept alternating buying rounds for the group. (At no point did anyone think, k now could be a good time to stop pounding booze 2oz at time... Kids, amirite?) Jam-wise, we're working with a sweet combo of top 40 and, from what I can tell, the soundtrack to Save the Last Dance. Right around midnight, I catch a glimpse of a fellow move-buster wearing (this is real) a sweater (how... it's approx. 250 degrees in there) with Christmas lights on it (yes) and a hat that says HO HO HO. Dibs. Fast forward through a couple hours of dancing that had me feeling like Bey but looking like William Hung (those doubles'll get ya), my friends and I, and my gentleman suitor, leave the club. Everyone's hammered, so we decided to pop over to the Silver Cloud to pass out. Things get hazy after that. (I think my dance partner's name is Arthur and he's Canadian. I can't be sure, but I dig that about him so I'm sticking with it.) Anyway, cut to the next morning, I wake up next to Arthur in his birthday suit (congratulations Arthur's parents because cot damn) to a call from my mother yelling at me. She is asking where my brother is because she got a call from the police that he wandered into Swedish Hospital. Butt. Ass. Naked. (We're skipping over the part where I had to explain to my mother why I wasn't in the same hotel room as my friends. Not my finest work.) So, barely able to walk/see/not puke, I stumble over to Swedish down the street to find my idiot brother sitting there in a hospital gown, commando. I brought his clothes, which were, I sheet you not, in a trail leading from his bed to the door. What even is that? He explains that he came to while walking down the street in broad daylight and realized he had no clothes on. After a brief panic, he ducked into a parking lot that happened to belong to Swedish, where a front desk employee who definitely doesn't get paid enough to deal with this at 7am on a Sunday called the cops who called my mom and here we are. I mean. What? It was the unicorn of nights. It was glorious and terrifying and there was a lot of weird nakedness. For that, Havana, I thank you. Tl;dr: 10/10 Would recommend. read more

You have to like Havana just for being so hard to find, sort of like a speakeasy, at least entrance-wise. Once inside, the bar opens up into a fairly large room with some big red rounded booths along the walls, a happening bar, and a dance-floor that gets jiggy as the night rolls along. If you can get a seat upstairs, that's not a bad viewpoint either, although you're sort of removed from the action. I'm not sure why - because the place was not so busy when we were there at happy hour - but service was almost non-existent at first. It did improve, strangely, as the bar got busier, but who am I to complain about that. Drinks are pretty fun, having that old Cuba vibe. Two favorites of mine were the Signature Move and the El Floridita. If you're hungry, a yelpy tip is to order some tasty pizza from Via Tribunali across the street. While you can order from the staff, we found it easier to send over an envoy to make the transaction! read more

Havana is among my top favorites to dance. A few days before attending, I had reserved a booth. It was only $10 for the entire night, but I had to be there at 10pm and was late by an hour. My reservation was honored and our always checked in on us for drinks. Even if you don't have reservations, you can always throw your jacket with belongings into the corner booth where it'll be safe. I love going because DJs play hype top 40 hip-hop. In general, Havana usually has a diverse set of DJs from all around that mash music seamlessly together into a mix that makes me drunk happy. My buddy and I went out to Havana for some Friday night fun and we had a great time dancing the night away with all of the cute girls. My only problem with the place was that I ordered 5 shots and the dreadlocked bartender did not acknowledge my order, so I ordered 5 from another bartender. The next thing I know, there were 10 shots in front of me and the dude that ignored me was telling me that I had to pay for all 10 shots. The bartender was pretty abrasive about the whole situation, even after I explained myself, and he was unwilling to let me pay for only the 5 that I wanted. I ended up paying for 8 of them and the whole situation left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

I've been to Havana a few times over the years and actually enjoy it between 9pm - 12ish am. Unfortunately, I'm not 21 and can't deal with larger groups of 20 somethings dancing up a storm, attempting to make room with the elbows (which is impossible - assume you're going to be swinging your hips next to a stranger and either a. enjoy it or b. roll your eyes and get over it). I saw a comment about getting groped and definitely agree that it can get bad here (the later the hour!). But I can say if you talk to a bouncer up front about getting harassed or touched inappropriately, they take it very seriously and will diffuse the situation (at least in my experience). Drinks are good. Waitstaff is good. DJ on Saturday, very good. It is a smaller venue, so be prepared - but definitely a place I would recommend to dance at! FYI - we were having a small bachelorette party for a friend and you can reserve a table ahead of time for pretty cheap without a food/bar minimum. A PALACE FOR DRINKING! That's what they call this place. For that slogan alone, I love it! Also: Mysterious, hard-to-find entrance. Sexy! Some of the best Long Islands on the Hill. (It makes me feel trashy to be rating Long Islands. In my defense, I almost never drink them. But I do here... because they are delicious and served in a pint glass.) Lovely bartenders and cocktailers. Crackin' jamz! Hip-hop, 80s/90s, if you want to get your dance on, this is the spot. I actually find myself shouting ridiculous phrases like "oooh this shit's my CUT!" ...Embarrassing. Balcony lounge area. Great for when you need to take a break from all that ass shakin'... Who doesn't love a club themed after an old school communist country? On the downside, there is cover. Remember how I hate cover?? Blurg, I can't tell you how many places I end up where the DJ decides to play his/her home mix they made in their momma's basement as their relationship was ending, so it becomes all scatterbrained and jumps from one era/decade to another, leaving me, the dancer, hopping from the Running Man to the Dougie to the Robot....and not in a beautiful, fluid way but more like a fish out of water kind of thing.... The night ended up being awesome cause we were sopping in sweat and spent by 11pm, right when all the club heads and too-cool-fo-schoolers were walking in.
