    Dance Floor.

There is No Disco lights. But it's Free Cover for Ladies before 10 pm. I came on Sept. 29th at 9:25 pm. I came the previous night but no one in the club. So I left and went to another bar and drag show. It's been awhile before Cvid that I've stopped by to dance. I like hanging out on the balcony that has comfortable couches. So the floor is very dark and not as fun as other Dance Clubs that have a few lights. There is colored mood lights changing colors on the 3 areas by the Window. One good thing is this place has large windows that you can look inside without coming in first. The upstairs has cute shiny Macaw Wallpaper. I like parrots. I don't drink alcohol so I can't judge the $8-$12 cocktails. To get a booth, without a VIP Charge, just come before 10 pm. It's empty. DJ Miguel was playing hits and Latin music before 10pm. He turned up the volume after 10pm. The restrooms are clean and there are a lot of mirrors to take selfies in the Ladies Room if that's your thing. I did not grow up with cellphones, so I don't take much Selfies at night clubs to say I'm here and brag.

    Bartender 'Ducky'

I had a very poor experience at Havana. The bartender who identified himself as 'Ducky' was extremely racist and rude towards me and my friends. Anytime I asked him questions about drinks, he had an attitude and also got my order wrong. He also made it a point to mention that I need to speak English although I was speaking English. The drinks were also poorly made and were watered down. I definitely won't be returning to Havana.

$10 cover at 12:45am? Really? Wow. Most of the time when I'm here (which isn't often) I'm thinking the phrase "hate hate hate hate hate hate" over and over in my head. It's pretty crowded, but honestly a few years ago it was way worse. I think the nice door guy (bigger bearded man) does a good job. He also doesn't let people back in who leave and want to skip the line. That's right, smoker! And guy who went to eat a cream cheese hot dog! Back of the line. Last night we found a spot in the corner by a booth and had an okay time dancing. Exceptions: -Total meat market. Normally I don't mind getting approached (hey, it's flattering) but every single person was a foreigner or from out of town. I don't think anybody is here actually from Seattle. Just a heads up... -Also saw something I never saw before - circles of guys dancing together. This also makes me assume they're not from Seattle because it was jarring. Except for, of course, breakdancing. But nope, just a lot of hip thrusting. -What's up with DJ's only playing 45 seconds of a song? Right when you get into it they change it up. You don't play Billie Jean and Thriller and cut them off barely past the intro. To me, this is also a tell-tale sign they're not a good DJ; choosing the most popular Michael songs ever? Come on, noob. They probably followed it with a little LMFAO. The entrance is in the parking lot of Poquito's, but next time I'll try something else when I want to go dancing in Cap Hill.

Deconstructed cocktail. Maraschino, rum, chartreuse. Yum. SIX DOLLARS on Monday

Hooray for the 90s! Hooray for total request nights with DJ Jay Battle (last Wed of every month)! Hooray for Havana! On Mondays it is empty, but they have their specialty cocktails for what bars out here charge for a well. 5-6 bucks, I've forgotten now. Try them all! Tuesdays are 90s night-- it is packed and you might get creeped on if you aren't able to tell people to back off. In my experience, though, it is a lot roomier and less packed than some other yucky clubs I could mention. I always have a great time here, despite a $4 cover. Wednesdays are the best, though, because you can tweet your requests to the DJ. There is a large projector screen that shows the requests/tweets in real time, which is an added perk. Bar service can be slow when it is slammed, but you'll get a drink. Great place for dancing.

While reservations aren't technically required, let me save you some heartbreak, make one. They only open reservations six days in advance, and this place fills up faster than brunch spots when the sun comes out in Seattle. Totally worth the planning. The experience starts downstairs at Tavern Law restaurant, where you let the host know you're headed to Needle and Thread. From there, you're directed to a mysterious locked door next to a telephone. Yes, an actual phone. Pick it up, give your reservation name once someone answers, and bam! You're buzzed upstairs like you've just passed a very classy secret test. Once inside, you're greeted and escorted to your seat, and the magic really begins. There's no drink menu because why limit creativity? Instead, the staff plays cocktail therapist, asking about your favorite spirits, flavors, and moods. Based on your answers, they craft a completely custom drink tailored to your palate. Every cocktail we tried was spot-on. Balanced, intentional, and clearly made by people who treat mixology like an art form rather than a guessing game. Bonus points: You can request the coaster they took your order on, which lists the ingredients so you can attempt to recreate it at home (results may vary depending on your confidence and liquor cabinet.) Not to be overshadowed by the drinks, the Sockeye Salmon Crostini was a fantastic fresh, flavorful appetizer and the perfect companion to a night of bespoke cocktails. They have other heartier food as well, but we had dinner reservations elsewhere for the evening. Between the immersive entrance, outstanding service, thoughtful drinks, and authentic speakeasy atmosphere, this isn't just a bar, it's an experience. If you're in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Needle and Thread is a must try.

Instagram : @yeapeats…read more I was excited to try Needle & Thread since it's often described as a speakeasy, but the "hidden" aspect didn't quite live up to expectations. Unlike other speakeasies that feel truly hidden, you actually just walk into Tavern Law, check in with the hostess, and let them know you have a reservation. They then guide you to a telephone where you repeat your reservation name before being let upstairs. It's a fun concept, but not especially secretive, and they're pretty strict about not letting you up early unless it's very empty. Once seated, we actually waited almost 20 minutes before being served with no acknowledgement. We ended up having to flag down the manager just to bring attention to our table, which was disappointing given the experience they're aiming for. The waitress asks a series of questions about your preferences--likes, dislikes, and flavor inspirations--so the bartenders can create custom cocktails for you. If you're knowledgeable about alcohol, this is probably a dream. If you're not (like me), it can feel a little intimidating, but our waitress was patient and did her best to guide us through it. The drinks themselves were excellent. Even the shots were customized, which was a nice touch. The vibe upstairs is chill and relatively quiet, making it a great place to relax and talk. Food is the same menu as downstairs at Tavern Law, so nothing new there. The only downside--and unfortunately a noticeable one--was an interaction with the female bartender (not our waitress). Based on the questions we were asked, my friend gave a mix of savory and sweet preferences, since we were told these were just inspirations. However, the female bartender came over sounding visibly annoyed and said, "So do you want savory or sweet? You're giving contradicting answers." The tone felt unnecessarily rude, especially since we were just following the process as it was explained to us. Overall, the drinks were great and the concept is unique, but between the delayed service and that negative interaction, it definitely put a damper on the experience.
