Great spot to watch a show! The layout can be a little tough to navigate when the crowd gets going, but that's true of most clubs, so no surprise there. The staff was great, quick and attentive even with a significant amount of people ordering drinks and crowding around the runway, checked on us frequently and made sure we never had an empty glass. We didn't try any of the menu offerings, but people seemed to be enjoying them quite a bit. I look forward to my next visit! read more

So I have been here many times as a gay. Solo. With my mom and friends. I'm no Karen but listen. Tonight I came in with two lesbian friend and a straight friend. We sat in the front and apparently right after ordering drinks and arrival it was a "watch party" night for the comeback. With no signage and us not hearing any announcement we sat and chatted. Shortly after rudely a drag queen in a complete silver sequined outfit comes and tells us to be quiet in front of everyone. How were we to know and you should be ashamed to treat people of the same community so badly and make them feel so small. Not sure if I will ever be back unfortunately. i was invited out to the bar by my friend for my first ever drag show and it was a blast! all of the queens had an amazing energy that was infectious to the crowd. the service was also stellar, being fast, attentive, and serving excellent cocktails at a reasonable price. the DJ was also excellent and played very fun music to further energize the crowd. my only caveat is that sometimes there is nudity from the queens so if that isn't your thing be warned and check the list to see who is performing that night read more

Just a big shout out to the Werk Wednesday crew at Queer Bar who are creating a fun, enjoyable, and safe place for dancers, musicians, and some up-and-coming performers. Let's break down why this is a mid-week, must-attend. First, it's Queer Bar. There is an inherent relaxed, safe, and genuinely lovely vibe here as all types of people show up. The venue can get crowded very quickly, and some special theme nights or performances have covers, so I strongly suggest you double check your times and get there early. Or, better yet, just make a reservation for a bar hightop or a runway booth -- very reasonably priced. Second, food is basic pub fare and reasonably priced and tasty. If you need a base for the drinks, you'll find it here. And the drinks are poured by really relatable and nice people who actually remember what you like from prior visits. Third, and finally -- a huge shout out to Werk Wednesday regular hosts/emcees (and performers) Kitty Glitter and Lyon who know how to get the crowds engaged. They're personable, nice, and great artists who know how to dance as well as make it fun for everyone. A great combination of talent in these two. If you attend enough you'll start to see some regular performers (or enjoy the beats of great DJs). And don't forget the "walk-off" where winner takes all. Werk Wednesday is not your basic gay bar scene. Only come if you want to break out of mediocrity and into something fresh. read more

I saw the Mothership Drag Show. Thurs at 10pm. I stumbled onto this Gay Bar (I'm straight) to ask about live entertainment or if they have a DJ. Luckily they only charge $5, a Bargain. So I went in. I got a virgin Juice mix of pineapple, Guava and orange juice. It was expensive for a short glass at $5. But I paid it since cover was cheap. Going into Gay bars is great for a solo woman. I'm by myself. I won't have to worry about getting hit on by men. They are playing Rupaul's Drag reality show on their TV screens as oppose your typical Sports. I don't like watching sports except for the Olympics. So this is a fun place for me to come. A guy comes around to break your bills to $1s to throw or tip the drag queens. read more

Weird layout and super gritty. I didn't mind the grittiness but I felt anxious for most of my time being there. The lights were super bright and the dance floor was weirdly structured. They also had some sort of local dance competition and cut the music out of nowhere when the dance floor was packed. The host repeatedly asked everybody for donations, and the show seemed super unorganized. Granted, I came on a Wednesday night. Must have been some local show with an amateur host. The bartenders weren't that friendly, but I wouldn't be either because there was a lot of patrons and not enough bartenders. The music was okay but their sound system not the best. Oh boy, where do I even start with this review. For a long story short- I've never felt so unwelcome at a bar in my life, and quite frankly I think this place does not care about your business if you are a woman. The staff was incredibly disrespectful and rude to a degree I've never experienced before. For my birthday I wanted to come here for their Friday night drag show and brought several friends. We had tried to reserve a booth ahead of time but were told that we could not do so on weekdays, which was odd seeing as it was an option on their website. Once we got in for general admission and after paying a cover fee, the place was packed with no clear place to stand to see the drag show without being in the way of the bar or hallway to the bathrooms. The layout is an actual nightmare, and when the drag show started I had to squish next to my friends and was having a hard time trying to tip the queens. At some point, I was yelled at by a short security guard (who I could barely tell was a security guard as they had nothing to indicate that they were one) for being in the "aisle" where servers needed to pass through. I asked where they wanted me to stand that would be okay and I was told "just not here, I NEED MY AISLE CLEAR" in a way that honestly mimicked a toddler's tantrum. There was a man with the security guard in a black turtleneck that was being incredibly rude and condescending to me, saying that they had already told me 12 times to move which was literally not true. I told him as nicely as possible that maybe they should put tape on the ground to show where people shouldn't be standing so that it would be less confusing, and he told me "it's not like you would listen anyways" among other things. To top this off, I had a male friend standing behind me next to the security guard so I decided to stand next to him to be out of the way, and was told once again told that I was not listening to the security guard and I needed to get out of the way even though my male friend had been standing there the entire time? This friend later told me that these two employees had been making insults about me behind my back the entire time. There were a ton of men coming and going and standing in the same place I was all night that were never yelled at or told to stand somewhere else. At this point I felt very unwelcome and sad and decided to leave, but in the mean time decided to tell a bartender as I was closing my tab that the employees had been really rude to me and if he could tell a manager, to which I was told that the turtle neck guy was a manager and there was nothing that could be done. From here, this is how the conversation went with the "manager" in the turtle neck: -We told him that it really sucked being treated and spoken to in the way that he had, and that we wanted to be tipping and supporting the queens, to which he said "Um I didn't see you tip anyone". Very rude response and also absolutely false. -We asked for his name to which he said it was "Bob" and when asked if that was his real name he said "no it's not" with a smirk on his face. -We said he was acting very rude and he said he didn't care and called the bouncer to escort us out of the bar we were already leaving The bouncer even admitted to being very confused as to why he needed to escort us, since we were being very compliant and just wanted to express to the manager that we felt disrespected. STRONGLY recommend going to any other bar in the neighborhood, especially if you're a woman. :( read more

Balancing out the negative reviews I'm seeing by saying I have *never* felt anything but welcomed at queer bar. The djs are always on point, the online reservations have always worked, the dance floor is always full and fun, and the staff is very kind. This place is a great replacement to the Capitol Hill gay bar scene in Seattle. We were sad to see Purr go, but as a woman, Purr wasn't always my kind of place because of the abundance of gay guys. Queer Bar on the other hand, felt a lot more inviting. There was a good mix of women and men. The decor in this place looks great, they did really well with the remodel. It's kind of fancy looking without the fancy prices (my well cocktail was $7, pretty standard). They had a projection on the wall with a movie playing, and really cool artwork in the walls that featured the trans community, always a good addition. The bathrooms are unisex with very private stalls that reminded me of the bathrooms in Europe. And now they have a dance floor with a large mirror. I'm excited to see where this place goes in the future. read more

We came to a Friday night drag show for our moms birthday and surprised her. She had the best time, we all did. We had the owners table right by the stage. The one thing I will say that could be different is the owner table cost a lot more and I would of thought we would of had a lot more engagement, we still had a great time we were just hoping with the VIP table that we would of had some sort of perks for as much as the table cost. I try new places to do reviews for Yelp, Google, etc... I've tried several (all) drag shows in the Seattle/Tacoma area and they're all great but I notice with all others they offer the same VIP seating/table but there is a lot of perks that go along with it. I didn't feel there was anything different at all about the front VIP table compared to the other tables, honestly the back tables and bar tables got more action then we did. The food was good, we loved the tatter tots. The salad we had was decent size and good. We had a women waitress that wasn't friendly but then a male waitress came along and every time we had him he was so friendly and super sweet. Overall we had a great time, just some information/feedback we wanted to give. We will come back soon enough. I didn't lower the stars by any because I am just wanting to give feedback. :) read more

Was extremely disappointed by the service I got from a specific bar tender- didn't catch their name but they were shorter with dark slicked back hair. Apparently my proximity to order with them wasn't to their liking (though there was a free bartender right in front of me on their phone texting) so they literally called me over to them like a dog rudely- ok cool my bad, I moved over to them respectfully. When I ordered with him, straight up rude for literally no reason (even my partner saw from our table how he treated me). I remained cool and respectful. Oh, but he was super nice and all giggles and smiles with literally EVERYONE else he helped. What did I do besides be sexy and polite? Anyway- the drag show was wonderful and aside the encounter with the weird bartender- my partner and I had fun. The queens give this review the second little star. Don't give me lip when it's uncalled for? If you're having a bad night don't displace your ugly onto me. So weird and embarrassing. It's a little complicated for me to write a bad review for a place that isn't bad on paper, cause I love the vibes and the performance here, but every time I've been here I've gotten under served and treated rudely by the bartenders here. It discourages me when I pay $15 for a cocktail only for the guy to fill it up halfway and pour maybe half a shot of liquor in there. And this has happened twice, once in front of a friend and he noticed and said "damn, what did you do to them?" half-jokingly. I think they've built enough of a brand to the point where they can overcharge customers just to see the queens. It's made me distrust drag venues that serve mixed drinks - the drinks are a little more lightweight there and you're paying more besides. I'll just stick with shots or beer, at least I know what I'm getting. Queens are hard to see in person if you don't pay an arm and a leg for a table. Normally they will tell you the price after your drinks z this guy straight up said; you're paying with a card and asking me for the price. Like really oompa lumpa looking ass. I said to him what did you say. Of course he ignored me. This bar is not the same it used to be with their staff. I even brought it up to the manager and he literally couldn't care less. What a place this is. Good vibe, great food. They make sure there is enough room for the clib night life. Came on a Saturday around 9 PM; cover charge 5.00. Drinks are strong!! Don't bother coming to any drag shows here. There is almost no seating unless you're able to pay $300+ for a booth. No matter where you stand (unless in an expensive booth), you can only see about half of the drag performance. It's always packed to the brim with upper-class white cis gay men. I had high hopes for this place given the interviews I'd seen with the owners who seem to have an understanding that a gay bar typically means a white cis gay man bar. Being someone who doesn't fit into that box I find a lot of gay spaces don't feel open to me or other female bodied folks or NB people. I think there were two other people who weren't dudes there and then a couple more showed up as we sat. So. Many. Guys. Not surprising but a bit of a letdown. Also the place is super swanky. All I really wanted this place to be was a casual hangout to meet weirdos. But it's a fancy bar with brass and leather and vegan food. Ok. Also. Guys: the bathrooms are your new favorite place. I don't know how the people who designed them think anything but screwing will happen in them. Single stall. Full closed and lockable door. Spacious. And free condoms at the bar. Don't wanna say they're asking for it but they're asking for it haha I hope this place turns out to be true to its name. I want this to not just be another preppy gay man bar. Neon is cool and so is the decal on the window. Clear no expense was spared in decorating. +1 star for kind bartender. I was so excited to come here for a viewing of RuPaul with my friends, but my experience turned out to be really disappointing. My friend has a rare medical condition with her heart, so she is someone who cannot be vaccinated and relies on herd immunity of other folks... long story short, we weren't let into the bar, event though she had a negative covid-19 test by a medical practitioner from the last 24 hours (per King County mandate). This is the only spot in Capitol Hill where this has been an issue... we literally had dinner at another restaurant here earlier in the evening with no problems. I can understand being wary of shitty anti-vaxx people, but dang. My friend even emailed Queer Bar days ahead of time and volunteered to provide her medical documents in order to prove it... so much for "reasonable accomodations"! read more

It's a spacious joint in Cap Hill. Next to many businesses. We arrived early to save a table before the Season 12 premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race and sipped on some drinks. My friend ordered grub which adequately accompanied her beer. I declined, as I was too anxious for the premiere. Anyhoot, the place is quite spacious. It did fill up quickly before the airing began. The staff here was very welcoming, even the bouncer was really chill. Bathrooms were stocked and sanitary. The music was a nice mix of Top 40, EDM and beyond. Gave this place 4 stars because we were asked to move to another table minutes before the start of the show which was a minor inconvenience. (Mind you, our original table/booth was not marked as "reserved" prior to us sitting there). Would love to come back on another night and enjoy the good music and drinks again. Very different from the previous establishment (Purr) in this location, but also very nice in its own way. It's definitely a little more "upscale" relative to some of the other LGBTQ bars in Seattle, both in atmosphere and food offerings. Lighting, seating, and decor are all pretty classy. The crowd here is somewhat mixed: still a majority of cis gay men, but there's definitely a strong showing of people of other identities as well. The name of the bar does seem to keep it to mostly LGBTQ people though, which is nice in comparison to some of the bars that get overrun by bachelorette parties or straight Amazon bros trying to meet women. Dance area and main bar are downstairs; upstairs is a smaller bar and slightly calmer atmosphere. read more

Love what they did with the old Purr space. It's beautiful inside. The drag show is the best on the hill. My only real issue with this bar is the drinks. They are the only gay bar on the hill that serve drinks in those little short glasses with a single shot of liquor... For $8. If you want a purr-style(or any other gay bar style) drink, it'll cost you $16. Anyone used to Purr drinks will be sorely disappointed. The wait for drinks when it's busy is long as well though I'm guessing that's just cuz they're new and working out the kinks. I have high hopes they'll work it out. read more

Visited early November 2019 on a Monday Karaoke night with a few friends. This large venue is a little classier than local rival gay, but it attracts a broadly similar crowd and the young, up-for-it vibe is just as fun. The ground floor offers a bright and modern bar space with a white wall playing video clips; upstairs is a mini-bar and darker bar space. We were here for a Monday night karaoke. Arrived early. Ordered food - popcorn chicken, tofu burger and grilled cheese. It was better than expected. Delicious! Karaoke was OK. There were some fun individuals. DJ did a great job. Posting 1 star for more then one reason. There are so experiences, with this establishment it ist hard to pick the worst worth a review. The final straw was the horrible experience but and trouble I had to go through after mistakenly leaving a tab open with a credit card. Recently, some people that just moved to Seattle asked if I wouldn't mind showing them around the area. They heard about Seattle's "Newest Gay Bar" - Queer Bar, and wanted to start the evening there. Upon arriving the staff was very dismissive and over all rude to my new friends. They mentioned that they felt very unwelcomed, and uncomfortable. I myself, have never felt mistreated directly. That being said, nor have I ever felt really appreciated or welcomed either.  There are a few exceptions to every situation of course. There are some nice people that work here, don't get me wrong. I had already given the bartender my credit card and started a tab before my friends has a chance to tell me how they were feeling about the bar. We decided to move to a new location shortly there after. Given the vibe and the groups eagerness to relocate, I neglected to retrieve my cray cray and close my tab. I knew the next day that I had left the open tab, and my credit card at Queer Bar. Just to be sure, I checked my online statement, and the last place the card was used was Queer Bar. I returned back to the bar that day following the night befor. I  apologized to the bartender explaining I had left my card the night before and forget to close my tab, and asked for the card back. The bartender left and returned back informing me that they didn't have my credit card. I asked him to check again. I explained that I had checked online easier in the day and the last charge was made the night before at Queer Bar. Again, I was told sorry they didn't have my credit card. I thought maybe, I did closed the tab, and got the card back. Possiblity it fell out of my pocket somewhere along the way home. So, I put a hold on the card ASAP. While doing that hold online, I noticed something additional activity on my account for Quiet Bar for the second time, and different from the original night. I immediately went back to Queer Bar and asked again if they had my credit card. I was told NO they couldn't find it. I find that very hard to believe as it was charged again in a different amount on a different day then the original transaction. The next day I tried calling the bar to get some answers. The phone number on the website, Yelp, Google anywhere it's listed, is disconnected. You are required to either email them, No reply, or Facebook messenger, no reply. I once again checked my online account to see if there were any new charges made on the card. There were new charges on the card, from Queer Bar AGAIN. I decided enough was enough. i went in again to Queer Bar before the place was very busy. After explaining what I knew, and the activity on my card it was there somewhere and if I have to come back a forth time it's going to be with Seattle SPD. Suddenly, holly David Copperfield.. BAM.. The  bartender made it magically appear. So, what's the lesson? If, big huge if, you go to Queer Bar, always pay in cash.. and you'll need a whole lot of cash if you are planning to order more then one. Second lesson, remove from the welcoming tour of Seattle newbies! Expect less or little and you'll be impressed here. read more

My partner and I love coming to Queer/Bar! The drag shows are incredible and feature a wide variety of queens. Inside, it is very clean and has great vibes. The drinks are reasonably priced for Seattle (8$ for a single well drink, and 6$ for a beer) and the mixed drinks are STRONG. The food is also really good overall. The security does a great job keeping the line moving and ensuring everyone is safe throughout the night. If going to one of their bigger drag shows, we highly recommend spending the extra money for reserved seats, as it does get extremely crowded. However, for only 30$ it includes incredible seats right up front and meet and greet with the featured queen. read more

The food here was very bad. I'm leaving three stars because the ambiance is pretty impressive. They've really gone all out with decor, and it's a very pleasant space. (I hate to leave fewer stars than that for new gay bar/restaurant.) They were playing cool videos on the big screens, and I liked that. It wasn't just T.V. The servers were also very good, professional and nice. But everything else was off. I went on a date there with my girlfriend. We both tasted the wines before we ordered drinks, and that concerned me, because the white wines were awful, some of the worst I've ever had. I could tell even one glass would give me a headache, so I ordered a Dark and Stormy instead, which was actually very good. The ginger beer they have there is natural and has a bite that I like. My girlfriend ordered a $14 cocktail with Champagne in it, and it was very bad. The Champagne was the same quality as the wine. It was hard to drink, and she took a couple of sips and set it aside. For dinner, she ordered a cup of bean soup and the dinner portion of the kale Cesar salad with Sourdough croutons, and I ordered the Buffalo (fake) chicken wrap and chose the kale salad as my side. The food came and the Kale salads were just very, very vinegary, had very little parm, and no Sourdough croutons. We asked the server why our salads didn't have the sourdough croutons. He checked with the kitchen and came back and said that they were out of croutons, but that the kitchen was starting some toast we could crumble on the salads. No. At a restaraunt, on a dinner date, I don't want to crumble toast on my dinner salad. A Cesar has very few ingredients. If you are out of the croutons, then you are out of the salad, because no one wants to pay $11 for a pile of vinegary Kale. We sent the salads back, and I tried my Bufallo wrap. It was just spicy and vinagary, and not much else. I was very hungry so I ate half of it, but it was bad. My gf tried her soup. It looked more like a black bean puree than a soup, and I tasted it, and it just tasted like a can of pureed beans. She didn't eat that either. We finally got some fries, beacause we were hungry and ate them. They were okay. We each paid $24 and all we actually consumed were fries and one cocktail. I may try this bar again but just for the bar, for a basic beer or mixed drink, because it seems like it may be a fun bar spot, but unless they fix the menu, I'll never eat here again. read more
