Downstairs Lounge
Pratima M.

A cute little lounge right in the heart of Cap Hill, around the corner from Neumos. I stopped by on Friday night with some friends and it was a really nice vibe to start the night -- they have an upstairs bar as well as a deceptively large downstairs lounge, complete with red lights and a glittery disco ball. I loved that it wasn't TOO loud and you could still have a conversation when sitting in the booth! We had to wait a little to grab a table, but there were still tons of pockets to stand as well. I got one of their Deep Eddy Ice Team slushy drinks and it was surprisingly delicious -- would highly recommend if you're looking for something to slowly sip on. The music was great and the decor was fun. I would totally come back here!

Extremely busy to the point you can't move around but Photo Booth was so cute and the pure reason I went lol.

This bouncer was making so many gay slurs and insulting "behind the back" of customers

Would not recommend to any locals in Seattle. Terrible customer service and such rude staff. See photo: This bouncer was making so many gay slurs and insulting "behind the back" of customers

Best place ever. I mean seriously. She is difficult to find and only the deserving will stumble on her by chance. She is red, wears wild ornaments, some say she got crazy eyes but once you know her well, you may only smile. Even after so many meetings, I find something new to love about her everytime, so much so that I have never remembered a single night, where we drank our first before nine. Give it a try but know you have been warned; you will fall in love and fall hard. She will not be yours but you can find joy in sharing.

Yeah, after a night of bar/club hopping in Capital Hill, and getting full of Jizz at Unicorn, this might very well end up being your last stop for the evening. It seems to be a CH staple where regulars go to get their groove on. I havent seen such enthustaic dancing in well...never. Lol! Very infectious; I couldn't help but go join in on the action...embarrassing my husband as usual. A local B1 dimly lit bar with cool decor, cheapish drinks, cool tunes, and super friendly folks-very diverse crowd. So, stop in and "dance your ass ass off!"

I especially loved how all the cocktails had tech-themed names, it added a fun touch. We ordered one of their signature drinks and absolutely loved it (my favorite was "clickbait"). We also split the butter chicken flatbread, which was pretty good. Honestly, if we had more time, we definitely would've tried more from the food menu. Also, a special shoutout to the bartenders--they were awesome! Very nice, good service, and made fire drinks. The seating options are great too. You can sit outside by the fire pits with plenty of space, or inside at high-tops or cozy booth-style tables. The whole place feels pretty classy. Plus, you get a view of the Space Needle and some of SLU's skyline. oh, and the hotel even had a cleaning robot, which I thought was cool.

We ordered the whipped feta dip, the artichoke dip, the pepperoni flatbread and the prosciutto apple flatbread all of those were freaking delicious amazing. This place has so much potential if they improved their service. The service was so bad it took 45 min to get our first round of drinks. Our server was really nice but maybe stretched too thin bc she forgot to put our order in and threw away her paper that she wrote it on so she had to come re take our order. We had full intentions of ordering entrees from here but they were out of the main dishes. Just seems like the kitchen manager isn't planning well, staff doesn't have help from management. The only thing keeping this restaurant afloat is the view and the DJ

The whole space has this intimate, luxurious atmosphere that makes the experience feel special the moment you walk in. We tried the Japanese Breakfast, which is a savory cocktail and such a pleasant surprise. It genuinely has miso soup notes. It's very unique and creative. I also had El Boho (flavorful but not overly sweet). The staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to recommending drinks. The prices are on the higher end, but personally I think they're totally worth it for the creativity and overall experience. This is the spot I bring all my out-of-town friends to because the ambiance, vibes, and drinks are just that good. Truly one of Seattle's gems.

The First Gentleman was attentive and we got our drinks and an appetizer timely. We ordered our second appetizer with our first server and thats where the service deteriorated. I could hear the table next to us ordered the exact same appetizer as we did 10-15 mins after we did and a new server who must had just clocked in brings them the order literally within 2-3 mins later and the male commented, "oh that was fast" and I thought to myself they got our order. Another 10-15 mins go by and I had to ask "do you know how long our order will take to which she seemed to get annoyed. It could have my energy because by that time I was annoyed. I'm not sure what happened to our original server but he must have gotten off. About 5-10 mins goes by and here it comes. That confirmed the table next to us got our order because of how long it took. They never apologized for their mistake. Doing all that time they never came back to see if we would like another drink. I had to flag someone down. The clincher was we got our bill and there was 22% service charge. That was on me because if I would have seen it I might not have gone. I'm not a fan of automatically charging a service charge. I'm a great tipper but it must be earned. By than I was really annoyed and thought to have a conversation with the manager but let it go. I would not go back. The craft cocktails are spendy but I had no problem with that because they're creative and they earned it by being creative. But the energy and the environment wasn't like the other speak easy bars I visited. It was boring and to top it off the service charge of 22% and the service that came with it sealed it for me. Make sure to read the website on their thought around the 22%.

The drinks are nothing special and definitely not the highlight, but they get the job done while you take in one of the best panoramas in Seattle. The revolving lounge gives you a full 360-degree view of the city, so every seat feels like the best seat in the house. You can see all of downtown, the Puget Sound, and the peninsula across the water as the floor slowly rotates. It's an easy, relaxed way to take in everything without having to move around. Bottom line: don't come expecting craft-cocktail magic. Come for the incredible views, the unique experience, and the chance to see Seattle from above in a way that never gets old.

My husband got the World's Fair Waffles with pears and vanilla cream, which he loved. Then we got a choice of our main course and we both made the correct choice for our tastes. I picked the Pork Belly Benedict, it was super rich and delicious, even with my usual distaste for eggs. My husband went for the steak, which was beautifully cooked. As a self-appointed connoisseur of speakeasies (a title I awarded myself after extensive…read more"research") Needle and Thread sits comfortably at the top of my list. While reservations aren't technically required, let me save you some heartbreak, make one. They only open reservations six days in advance, and this place fills up faster than brunch spots when the sun comes out in Seattle. Totally worth the planning. The experience starts downstairs at Tavern Law restaurant, where you let the host know you're headed to Needle and Thread. From there, you're directed to a mysterious locked door next to a telephone. Yes, an actual phone. Pick it up, give your reservation name once someone answers, and bam! You're buzzed upstairs like you've just passed a very classy secret test. Once inside, you're greeted and escorted to your seat, and the magic really begins. There's no drink menu because why limit creativity? Instead, the staff plays cocktail therapist, asking about your favorite spirits, flavors, and moods. Based on your answers, they craft a completely custom drink tailored to your palate. Every cocktail we tried was spot-on. Balanced, intentional, and clearly made by people who treat mixology like an art form rather than a guessing game. Bonus points: You can request the coaster they took your order on, which lists the ingredients so you can attempt to recreate it at home (results may vary depending on your confidence and liquor cabinet.) Not to be overshadowed by the drinks, the Sockeye Salmon Crostini was a fantastic fresh, flavorful appetizer and the perfect companion to a night of bespoke cocktails. They have other heartier food as well, but we had dinner reservations elsewhere for the evening. Between the immersive entrance, outstanding service, thoughtful drinks, and authentic speakeasy atmosphere, this isn't just a bar, it's an experience. If you're in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Needle and Thread is a must try.

Instagram : @yeapeats…read more I was excited to try Needle & Thread since it's often described as a speakeasy, but the "hidden" aspect didn't quite live up to expectations. Unlike other speakeasies that feel truly hidden, you actually just walk into Tavern Law, check in with the hostess, and let them know you have a reservation. They then guide you to a telephone where you repeat your reservation name before being let upstairs. It's a fun concept, but not especially secretive, and they're pretty strict about not letting you up early unless it's very empty. Once seated, we actually waited almost 20 minutes before being served with no acknowledgement. We ended up having to flag down the manager just to bring attention to our table, which was disappointing given the experience they're aiming for. The waitress asks a series of questions about your preferences--likes, dislikes, and flavor inspirations--so the bartenders can create custom cocktails for you. If you're knowledgeable about alcohol, this is probably a dream. If you're not (like me), it can feel a little intimidating, but our waitress was patient and did her best to guide us through it. The drinks themselves were excellent. Even the shots were customized, which was a nice touch. The vibe upstairs is chill and relatively quiet, making it a great place to relax and talk. Food is the same menu as downstairs at Tavern Law, so nothing new there. The only downside--and unfortunately a noticeable one--was an interaction with the female bartender (not our waitress). Based on the questions we were asked, my friend gave a mix of savory and sweet preferences, since we were told these were just inspirations. However, the female bartender came over sounding visibly annoyed and said, "So do you want savory or sweet? You're giving contradicting answers." The tone felt unnecessarily rude, especially since we were just following the process as it was explained to us. Overall, the drinks were great and the concept is unique, but between the delayed service and that negative interaction, it definitely put a damper on the experience.

I was so excited by the experience that I made a reservation to bring my partner there to end our anniversary night. I was expecting something more intimate and exclusive, especially since that was how it was presented during the Yelp event. When we arrived at the speakeasy at our reserved time, we were told it was not ready yet. We ended up waiting longer than expected, and when we finally received the text to come down, the door was already opening for a party that arrived after us. A big part of the Founders Club experience is the bookshelf entrance, and I had really hoped my partner could experience that excitement for the first time, but it ended up feeling a bit anticlimactic. Once inside, the space itself is nicely done and intimate, and the service was generally good. Prices are quite high for what we ordered, though they do provide complimentary fancy nuts, which was a nice touch. Overall, the vibes are good and I would like to return, but I hope the experience feels more curated and intentional for each party next time.
