Y'all security last night told my friend on her 21st birthday it was fake when it wasn't. He called us liars and told us to get the fuck out. I've heard this has happened to others, and it was rude as fuck and annoying. read more

I went here last night for my 21st birthday and the door man kept examining my ID and said it was a fake when it's not a fake ID. I've used this ID for everything else and it was fine and he even called me and my friend a lair and told us to get the fuck out. I'm very not pleased what he did. Definitely not a place to go! read more

Went here for drinks with my mom while exploring Seattle. You can access the lounge by going down stairs. At first we almost walked past it because there wasn't a sign for it so look closely to make sure you don't do the same thing. It had a cool vibe and has red lights. I had to order a margarita and enjoyed it. It was a bit on the strong side which I like. I feel like a weak margarita is too sweet. We went around 10pm and by 11pm it was becoming more crowded. I liked that the music wasn't too noisy so you were still able to speak to the people you were with. I could go back to this bar when I'm back in the Seattle area. read more

2 stars because the environment and all the decor was really nice. Ordered two of their slushie drinks for $8 each. One for me and my friend. I gave the bartender two cards and told him to charge the drinks separately. Charged my friend $8. Checked my account today and it has been charged $18. I don't recall $18 being on the receipt when I signed it or else I would've said something. All in all, they should pay attention and listen to customers. I left them a message earlier to resolve this issue. Haven't heard back yet. Edit: They called back. Did notice my card was overcharged and refunded my money ASAP. Thank you read more

I liked the look of the place. The staff was very friendly. The bar section the lighting is red. The light in the restrooms are also red, could use better lighting in the restroom other then red. unfortunatly the music was not the vibe that I would have expected from the name of the place. They played oldies and I expected hispanic/latin music. The drinks could have been better. I will definitly give them another chance. read more

Do not take your chances going here. Was drugged and practically carried out of the bar by guys I did not know and not a single staff member did or said anything to ensure my safety. I've heard similar stories and considering the only drink I did not by for myself I got at the bar, I would venture to guess that the bartender saw what this guy did and didn't do anything to stop it. Recently went back and nothing has changed. Staff is rude and has an attitude for no reason. Only saving grace was a nice group of girls who took me in for the night and helped me to relive the night I was drugged and healed me. Will never be returning. read more

Whenever I come here we are always served pretty quickly. A few weeks ago I ordered a round of liquid cocaine's and it was pretty cheap (a lot cheaper than I had anticipated)! So that's a plus right there. The best thing about this place is the photo booth, hands down! It takes forever for the picture to come out, but it's totally worth it. We crammed 4 people into the booth :) The only thing I didn't like about this place was how dark it was downstairs and how many stairs I had to go down (heels are killer) but no falls so I guess we're good. Also seating is limited depending on when you get there, especially downstairs. All in all The Cha Cha Lounge is pretty cool. read more

Tiki bar meet Tijuana - Cha Cha Cha! We went to Bimbos for dinner before a Neuoms show and found Cha Cha lounge by accident. Bimbos was full so the door guy told us we could order downstairs. Love the big vinyl booths, the red lighting, the velvet paintings, the rug hooks hanging on the walls. Food came fast and they serve Rainier on tap. Tip - for faster service early in the night, head to the bar - the bartender was great, took our order and someone brought it to our table. read more

My favourite local bar. Just love the lights in here. Don't get disappointed by the look of the bar from outside. There is a level down in the bar and that's where the real character of the bar emerges. I have had quesadillas here at times and have loved it but I go here mostly on my night out for drinks. My favourite thing about this bar is the red lighting inside. read more

Pro-tip: never get into a conversation with a drunk dude at the end of the night. I was told by a very rude man that my bangs weren't cool. I feel very unsupported in my hair lifestyle. If I want to hide my forehead, I damn well should be able to and not be judged for it. Fire margaritas tho. And the food I can always get behind. Also wildest smoking corner and everyone loves it. The conversations are worth the cancer you'll inevitably get later in life. Always an adventure when you get to go to this place. read more

I usually like this place because it is a very unique spot. I have been going here for 7 years now. The front door person can be rude but that's fine. What was not fine and why I am giving this place a 1 star is because of one of the staff. She has dirty blonde hair and was wearing a beanie last night. I was waiting for the bathroom on the top floor. She was in line behind me. I went into the restroom and it was HORRIBLY DIRTY! That's fine, most bars are like this. She goes in after me. She later comes after me and accuses me of puking in the restroom. There was no visible sign of puke when I was in there so I looked at her confused and told her she was mistaken. She wouldn't let it go and demanded me to confess. I kept telling her it wasn't me and then she looked at me and said I was stumbling out the bathroom. Lady, I almost slipped in YOUR bathroom because there was water and piss everywhere. And then she called me drunk and cut me off. I only had one single drink that whole day. I was only at that bar for 30 min. That's fine because I was not going to give them any more of my money after all that harassment. I don't appreciate being accused of something I never did. Given that they have HORRIBLE "CUSTOMER SERVICE" I would say this place is a fail. I'm 28 and know how to handle my alcohol. Never giving them my money ever again. read more

You'll find Cha Cha in the downstairs basement of Bimbo's Cantina. It's consistently hot, sweaty, and full on weekend nights. The music is grungy, the entire place is a pinkish red color, and the bar is relatively tiki themed. If you find yourself jonesing for a smoke or some air, you can head down past the bathroom and down the hallway, where you'll find a small outdoor space to hangout in. We usually only come here for quick late night shots and drinks, and we rarely ever stay for too long. If I recall, they do have decent deals on beer (specifically Tecate) on weekend nights, which works as a great chaser to any shot. Even though in some ways Cha Cha is not my style, it definitely more than gets the job done. read more

Oh, shit. I just love bartenders who refuse to look me in the eye! It's even better when I leave a dollar tip on the bar for a $2 drink and they snap "There's a tip jar!" BITCHES I'M FROM OAKLAND! DON'T SNAP AT ME! I will rip out your fucking weave - or in this one guy's case, his ironic shaggy dog hair. Pew pew pew! That is the sound of me shooting this guy with my MIND. Ugh. The Cha Cha reminds me of most bars in San Francisco, actually...Groups of twentysomethings throwing away all their cash in a dimly lit bar. I felt pretty comfortable here. Even El Capitan Douchebag at the bar didn't upset me all that much. As a fan of mega kitsch, the decor was incredibly pleasing to my eyes. Cheesy to the max! In an effort to avoid the douche manning the bar we armed ourselves with a pitcher of Mt Ranier, which is PBR but with a fancier name, methinks. Delish. Thumbs up for the bathrooms and to the photo-booth, too! read more

I like the Cha Cha even though I don't really fit in here. That's right, I'm not a hipster. I don't have 18 tattoos, weird piercings on my face, or dress in the ugliest clothes known to mankind. However, I usually have the "go fuck yourself" attitude to fend for myself in these parts. Also, it helps to be drunk enough to not notice the "what is that Banana Republican betch doing here?" glares shot in my general direction. Still, I love this place for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on it, but maybe it has something to do with the push-up contest (seriously) I engaged in outside on the smoking alcove. Nah..... read more

I don't consider this a dive bar. It tries to hard too be a dive bar to make it a dive bar. It's sooo cool to be grimey... Yeah real cool. The staff don't care about customer service because they are way toooo busy pushing to the side their comb over shags, charging too much for drinks and worrying about their next smoke breaks. The only people doing work is of course the Mexicans working in the back who are the only authentic anything in this opium den of a bar. But nobody cares about them because they are lucky to even have a job at this cool, hip place! Being a bartender at a pretentious bar on Capitol Hill is such a hard job! #1 Hater and loving it. read more

Descend down some stairs into a large red lit room full of booths, tables and chairs with the bar area in the back. Found the party we were meeting back up with who notified us that they had been there for a bit and they have yet been attempted to be served and / or given a menu. HMMM.. One of us goes to find service and some menus.. He disappears for a bit longer and another goes to find the server. After she was made aware that we were there.. She was actually quite attentive, on top of things and pleasant. I think it's just hard to know who's new to the place or get noticed due to the dim lighting, etc. Main reason why we came here was because we wanted some food before we continued drinking that night. Mostly "Mexican" menu consisting of Tacos, Burritos, Nachos, etc. The Tacos were $2.95 each and can come with a hard shell, wheat soft shell or corn soft shell and were ok in size and the two who were eating them, didn't seem dissatisfied. I had the small Nachos with shredded beef which was $5.95 and pretty decent. Go through a door that looks like a fire exit door and there is a covered back porch type of area that you can smoke and drink. By the way, if you are looking for "normal" (what's normal anyway????) people, don't come here. I'd say that you can find punk, goths, dreadlock haired, tattooed and pierced people here with alternative music playing. My kind of people at times, even though I might not look like one, that was me back in the day!!! read more

Imagine if everyone who hated you in highschool is gathered in one place, flipping their hair and saying 'like, omigod! i totally saw so-and-so here last night, and like, did you see what he was wearing? unbelievable!" except now they're wearing an ironic shirt they bought for $50 that's made to look like it came from a thriftstore and $200 jeans that were purposefully tattered. Once again, I realize I have been failing in my Yelp Review duties. How is it I have spent countless hours in here and not written a review about it? What kind of narcissist am I? My initial impression of this place was no bueno. I'm a little more metro than hipster, and I generally bathe more than once a week. I was like a worm in a mother bird's gullet: down the stairs I went, had a look around, and was regurgitated right back up. And then I met Elvis and the Turks (wow that could be a band name). And they love this place. LOVE this place. Being foosball champions may have something to do with it, but those guys drag me here weekly. And like the moss on my northern facing stairs, this place is growing on me. Yeah, it's dark, it's red, it's hot, and slightly oderous. Yeah, the bartenders couldn't smile unless they were hung upside down, and yeah I've stood in the midst of at least two bar fights here and lost my drink in each one. But I've met some cool folks, lost at foosball a bunch of times, and generally have a good time. That usually depends on the company you keep, but the company I've been keeping likes to come here. Besides, there's a photo booth to make out in (purely speculation, of course), a vending machine to buy cigs, gum or profilactics in, and a really dirty bathroom. Not to mention an outside area for smokers to crowd into and burn each other with carelessly held cigarette butts. read more

I had been to once Cha Cha when it was on Pike (or was it Pine? I can never remember). Anyway, it was further west than it is currently. It was a great bar, very chill, unpretentious, and just really fucking cool looking. Red light, velvet paintings, lucha libre decorations around, and there was a circular ship window. I liked it there and I still kick myself for not visiting often. Cut to two years later and the Cha Cha is now in a basement. My friends and I walked in and I felt comfort in the red light and exact same interior decorating as before. The major difference was the people. Have you heard of this website? http://www.latfh.com/ Its called "Look At This Fucking Hipster". People submit photos of hipsters and their picture is subjected to sarcastic remarks. Take a look around at the site. The people in those pictures were the only people inhabiting the Cha Cha. I started to get nervous. There are varying degrees of hipster. I will admit I am on the low end of the spectrum because of my attire, hell I even have a thing for slightly (and I stress slightly) hipsterish dudes but the hipsters there that night were off the fucking scale. My group drank our beers as fast as humanly possible and hightailed it out of there. I hadn't been back since. My friend, knowing I have a thing for Flannels (her term for hipsters), suggested we go Cha Cha while out on a semi bar hop. I had flashbacks of my last night there and almost protested but I refrained and agreed to go. Sometimes I like to put myself in stressful situations for shits and giggles. Call me a masochist, if you will. We get there and I see the red light glowing as we make our way down the stairs. I hold my breath in anticipation and...where the fuck are all the hipsters? Rather than hipsters the Cha Cha was filled with Belltown yuppie overflow. The crowd was replaced with one unpleasant group for another unpleasant group. What is going on here? I did see the photobooth and was eager to take pictures until I saw the $3 price tag. My friend and I were highly entertained watching lots of people get confused by which bathroom was for men and which one was for women. I didn't know having "Chicas" on one door could be so misleading. We didn't stay very long because there was no where to sit and too many girls in short spandex dressing were blocking the bar. I don't even know what the hell to say about Cha Cha anymore. The next time I go in the crowd may be monkeys. read more

I walked into this bar and my immediate thought was, "awesome." The decor is quirky and cool, the karaoke is hilarious, and the drinks are decently priced. There's even a photo booth. Prior to entering, I had been skeptical after reading reviews about alleged "bartender rudeness," but I am not a particularly needy customer. I don't mind waiting, my restaurant standards are pretty low, and I will take something even if it's not exactly what I asked for. I am polite because I know from working in the Northeast how it feels to be treated rudely by customers. Also, being courteous is just sort of what people DO, right? Apparently not. I realized shortly after leaving that I had misplaced my phone, and the bartender who answered the phone when I called HUNG UP on me when I asked him if he had seen it. I have worked in several positions in the restaurant business and I KNOW how annoying customers can be... but inquiring about a lost item is not the same as demanding an extra mayonnaise packet, asking where the napkins are when they are right in front of you, or complaining about the lack of gluten/casein-free pizza for your child that is allergic to everything. There seriously is no excuse for being blatantly obnoxious to a customer just for the heck of it. So, Mr. Bartender, if you're reading this you should probably know that we are about the same age, making the same amount of money, and doing the same amount of hard, tiring, slavework like most 20-somethings in this economy. I was polite to you, and you were a jerk to me, and now I'm never going back here because of you. There are plenty of equally-priced, equally-interesting establishments in Seattle with decent waitstaff, and it does the restaurant industry a disservice to spend money at the ones (like yours) that don't. read more

I feel like I'm in a Mexico after watching a wrestling match. No joke! The theme is a bit much. I feel like I'm on drugs with Cheech and Chong. You would never think how a place like this can be here. It's down stairs to the basement. Lots of college kids and emo's. Not your normal place to have a drink. For some old reason, I kinda like it. Did you say Luchador dive bar? No, I did. This red lit, funky feelin' dive if the perfect destination for a group of groovy folks lookin' for a good night out. My host mentioned the meat market reputation that this place has achieved and even though the crowd was pretty sparse and mostly nerdy chic when I went on a Sunday evening - I could imagine that it gets pretty packed on a weekend. In addition to the cheap drinks and mood lighting, the vinyl booth seating gives a great party vibe. The video game room and photo booth don't hurt, either. Meet you underneath the stairs! read more

More of a 3.5 star joint, but i'll bump it up cuz I'm nice and it has never been a bad time when I have come here. Yeah, it is kind of packed. And yeah, it is a bit darkly lit. And yup, loud too -- but the drinks are strong and cheap (and i've never had issue getting one). Foozball and a photobooth to keep you entertained. Decor is loud, and fun (kind of like the crowd). Makes for a good pit-stop on the way to bigger and better things, but totally worth spending an hour or two for drinking a pitcher of beer and/or a cheap margarita with good company who doesn't mind a crowd. read more

Alright, so I've been to the Cha Cha (old and new) more times than I'd like to admit. It's loud, it's crowded, the line to get drinks can be ridiculously long - but for some reason I always go back. The drinks can be cheap (really cheap), especially if you are "friends" with the bartender....not that I would know or anything. They serve food upstairs until pretty late (11ish?) and it's actually pretty decent (in terms of bar food). Nachos sure beat peanuts, especially when you need to soak up the gallon of alcohol you just consumed downstairs (yes, you have to walk down stairs to get to the bar, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't pitch fucking black). The Cha Cha isn't always my first choice when trying to figure out a place to drink (I usually end up there if Linda's is too packed and The Redwood is too dead) and I usually avoid it on the weekends. But, some (ok, often) times I get the urge to get blacked-out drunk and take pictures in a photobooth. Who doesn't? It's not really a great place to go and have intimate conversations with someone. In fact, this is where you go when you just want to listen to unnecessarily loud music, get drunk and be glad you can't hear your friend whining about his or her newest girl/boyfriend. The seating situation at the new place is a vast improvement from the last. But, even still, I'm often forced out by lack of seating and/or people with over-sized bags taking up too much room. I've had some bad experiences at the Cha Cha in the past - especially when I'd go alone. But, I will have to say, if you're looking for a one-night stand, this is your place! read more

Cha Cha is my personal hell. But if you want to go out with your most uninteresting friends, it's awesome. You won't have to listen to their boring blah blahs. Just nod along and feel good about not having to feign interest. It's also good if you want to just be sloppy and yell at your friends without disturbing anyone. No one will hear you anyway. Just watch out for GHB. Some other things you can get at Cha Cha (heresay): - Vagina - Coke - Toilet hepatitis Cha Cha is actually fine during the week or earlier in the night. "Bar time" is apparently a timezone which exists only at Cha Cha Lounge and represents 15 minutes of time travel into the future. Let me explain... A group of 4 friends and myself went downstairs to Cha Cha Lounge last night on a Wednesday night. We got there sat down and realized they were still in happy hour (which stated 4-8pm on the menu). We rushed to the bar as it was 7:48pm and wanted to get in a round while still on happy hour. When we got there I ordered a drink off the happy hour menu and the bartender told me a higher price. I asked if the drink was included in the happy hour menu, he said yes but happy hour has ended. I was a bit puzzled. I looked at my Android Wear watch, which syncs to my phone which gets its time from my cell provider, which gets the time from NIST-F1 atomic clock. So I KNEW when my watch said 7:48pm it was accurate and thus still within happy hour, but the bartender looked at me and said that, "bar time was after 8pm and it was no longer happy hour." What the hell is "bar time?" I told him I didn't want the drink and we would simply take out business elsewhere. He eventually said he would override the price and sell us our food and drinks at the happy hour price. Still... he shouldn't have to do that. If they advertise happy hour from 4-8pm, the computer should automatically put the happy hour price if a sale is made before 8pm. There is no such thing as "bar time." read more

The Cha Cha is...the Cha. I honestly don't even know how to properly communicate the allure and beauty of a space that is only itself without truly giving half a damn about what other people think. Allegedly it's a hipster bar. Drinks are stiff, and the bar staff is almost an afterthought. As if all of a sudden people were hanging out and someone was all, "you know what would be awesome? A fucking bar." And the Cha was born. The Cha is chill. It's small and intimate, so it's not the place for your bullshit melodrama, meat market shenanigans, or bromances over jager shots. If you can't deal with that, the Cha really isn't for you. I had a great snakebite here and a bad long island, but I think the long island was watered down because the person who bought it for me was already too drunk; another friend ordered the same and it was fine. You can order food here from Bimbo's upstairs. The credit card minimum is $10. The Cha is the Cha, and either you'll love it or you won't. read more

I feel like the fact that I have never written a review for Cha Cha makes my entire Yelping career a total sham. Or maybe it doesn't. My opinion of this place flip-flops pretty drastically. If you're a 20-something in Seattle you've spent at least one memorable (or not-so-memorable) night in the red-lit, crowded basement of Bimbo's trying to feed dollar bills into the photo booth or hear your friends shouting over everybody else's friends. I hate this place. Okay, I love this place. Okay, I still pretty much hate it. But I still come here. And that, my friends, is what makes it a Seattle institution. I can guarantee that something like 75% of the patrons you encounter hate it here. And yet they still come back. If that's not success, I don't know what is. Cha Cha, I love and hate you. You're A-OK. Sometimes. I don't know. Just get me another PBR please. read more

This bar is really fucking confusing. When I walked in they were playing punk rock and I noticed a number of tattooed, pierced, hipster-y clientèle. This neither bothered me nor excited me... However, over the ensuing hour the music went from punk rock to annoying dance/electronic/trance music to indie pop to hip hop and back to punk. The crowd grew to total about a million people and included such a vast number of "types" that I couldn't figure out what they were going for in terms of the vibe of this place. The variety of people is a good thing, usually...but the music really annoyed the shit out of me. More importantly, the place is lit with an excessive number of blinking red lights. This kind of stimulation can be very unpleasant for a person under the influence of intoxicating substances...consider that a warning. read more

A group of about 18 friends visited Cha Cha as part of a Pirate Pub Crawl. While we were dressed up, we were weren't rowdy or disruptive. We were, however, paying with Susan B. Anthony and Sacajawea dollar coins - cuz, you know, PIRATES. The place was pretty dead (it was a Sunday night). So when we arrived, we were some of the only patrons. One would have thought the establishment would be glad for the business... but... The bartender turned our whole group away because he didn't want to accept this particular American currency. :( I think this bordered on some kind of infraction. At the very least it was very rude. He said he didn't want to have to count all those coins. I wonder if the owner has any idea how much money they lost from our group being shooed away. Anyhoo - if you're looking for somewhere more fun, try Saint Johns a few doors down. They welcomed us with open arms and amusement about our "in character" payment. They appreciated the excellent tips we left, as well. And they invited us back any time. Much classier and pro-fun. read more

The Cha Cha Lounge is the epitome of a Capitol Hill bar. In fact, whenever I have visiting friends in town I make sure to take them here. Now - I didn't give them more than 3 stars because they're a good bar but it's not the best for a few reasons. One - you have to sift through HUNDREDS of people and wait at least 20 minutes to order a drink if you're not there before 8pm. That's good for business but bad for sustaining a buzz. Their drink prices are totally reasonable, the bathrooms are okay, there's a cute little photo booth and the general decor of the place is awesome. Another bonus is that you can order food from Bimbo's Bitchin' Burrito Kitchen upstairs and have them serve it to you down in the bar area. YUM! Definitely a great bar but be prepared for a crowd. read more

Whatever! I did it! Full stars, that's intense, many will not understand, but that's okay. More time in the photobooth for me. Yes, it's crowded. And full of hipsters - some annoying stereotypes, some legitimately hip. And the new location is more insane than ever. Love the old Cha Cha, LOVE the new Cha Cha. All the people who detest this place - I get where you're coming from. But what can I say. I am a huge fan of the over the top, kitschy, cracked out Mexican hell atmosphere (hello, velvet paintings). And I am also a fan of cheapcheapcheap stiff drinks, which Cha Cha happily provides (and the wait at the bar isn't honestly that bad, people)... I love saying "I'll get this round!" and ending up paying around $10 for my friends and I. Plus, the vending machine in the corner sells cigs, condoms, Mexican trading cards, mini-sombreros... all the necessary ingredients for a glamourous night on the Hill! Maybe I have a large portion of irritating 20something American Apparel hipster in me, but that's fine. Haters keep on hating, I'll be lounging under the glowing red "cha cha" sign bombing back $2.50 vodka-crans. read more
